With games like Metal Gear Solid 5 and Splinter Cell, it's easy to think of stealth games as expansive, even bombastic affairs. The proliferation of open world stealth has meant an increased interest in massive toolsets and complex level layouts. That kind of clockwork design can be incredibly thrilling, just look at Hitman World of Assassination. But even the most elaborate games cannot forget the thrill of waiting in the shadows for the right moment to strike. Mark of the Ninja Remastered is a lean stealth classic because it focuses on the fundamentals. Read the rest of the story... The Sims 4 has announced a new expansion pack, but fans have pointed out that it already has a major oversight. Enchanted by Nature is scheduled for a July 10 release. It'll provide several new options for off-the-grid living, allowing Sims to farm for subsistence and live off the land they tend. It's a pretty expansive pack, including a variety of new options - perhaps most significantly, the return of fairies to The Sims' roster of supernatural creatures. View the full article
Renowned fantasy author R.A. Salvatore was the writer for an innovative 2012 RPG called Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and he had pretty high hopes for the game when it first released. At one point during an interview around the time of the game's release, Salvatore claimed this game was "going to raise the bar on the RPG genre," a bold claim that may or may not have been justified depending on who you ask. While the game was eventually well-received by fans of the RPG genre to some extent, Salvatore's writing had very little to do with that success. View the full article
Some players are concerned that Minecraft’s Vibrant Visuals update may be a double-edged sword, as it could impact the title’s performance. While the overall reception of Vibrant Visuals has been positive ahead of its release, some Minecraftplayers have genuine concerns, as the popular sandbox game is known to run well even on old computers, and enhanced graphics could potentially cause issues. It's pretty well-established that Larian Studios isn't interested in making a sequel to Baldur's Gate 3, but that doesn't mean Baldur's Gate 4 won't get picked up eventually by another studio. If and when that happens, I'd be interested to see one particular character given a complete personality overhaul: Wyll. This devilish NPC has an enjoyable enough storyline in the grand scheme of things, but his personality itself could have used a bit of complexity. This becomes even more glaring when compared to how they approached Wyll's character in the early access versions of BG3. View the full article
We're about halfway through 2025, and the competition for game of the year is already looking steep with plenty of impressive releases to choose from. The race for GOTY is tight, and we've still got even more releases to look forward to. There have been pretty frequent massive releases since 2025 began, so there's a decent chance you may have forgotten some of the big ones. So, let's talk about what's been released so far, what's still to come, and what we think might secure that number one spot for GOTY. Image via Kepler Interactive Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 seems like it's probably the overall top contender, with massive praise and rave reviews surrounding the RPG. With a gorgeous world, a star-studded voice cast, and engaging turn-based gameplay, it's a truly unique masterpiece worthy of that GOTY title. Fans are already calling it a shoo-in for GOTY, and I honestly think they're probably right. The stunning open-world RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is another top pick for GOTY. It basically takes everything that's great about the first one and builds upon it to create a worthy successor and must-play for all RPG fans. Despite being a prequel, DOOM: The Dark Ages does a similar thing, as it also builds upon what players already know and love to deliver something even better. As good as it is, there are some players who do view it as the worst in the DOOM franchise. Not to say that it isn't good, because it certainly is, but it does have a lot to live up to and might not secure that GOTY title because of this. Image via Dogubomb Blue Prince is absolute puzzle perfection, with complex challenges sure to keep you engaged from start to finish. There's really nothing else like it, especially not released this year, and it really stands out thanks to its unique premise and gameplay. Split Fiction is another contender, and it has a special place in my heart with its charming storyline and superb co-op play. I didn't think the It Takes Two devs could top their last masterpiece, but they certainly matched and possibly exceeded it with this one. Cozy gamers are also really loving Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, with its cute art style, endless gameplay options, and addictive gameplay. It's a seriously good time, especially if you're into games like Animal Crossing or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Screenshot by Destructoid There are already strong options across most genres, and we haven't even talked about what's left on the roster for the rest of 2025 yet. Sadly, this no longer includes GTA 6, which would certainly be in the race if it were coming out this year, but there's still lots to look forward to. Borderlands 4, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and Tales of the Shire are a few of the many games still slated for release before the end of 2025 that might jump into this race, but we won't know for sure until they're out. So, what do you think, Destructoid? Will the GOTY be one of the stellar choices that have already been released, or something else on the horizon? If I had to pick, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 seems like the most deserving and popular choice, but a strong case can be made for any of the games I mentioned here, and I'm sure there also are others I missed. Becoming a construction worker in BitLife is a quick and easy way to complete weekly challenges and make some money as your character receives raises. Although it may not be the highest-paying job in the world, it's still worth pursuing, especially if you're an achievement hunter. Table of contentsHow to become a Construction Worker in BitLifeWhat does a Construction Worker do in BitLife? How to become a Construction Worker in BitLife Unlike many jobs in BitLife, you don't need to graduate from secondary school to become a construction worker. Instead, you just need a clean record void of criminal activity before finding a position on your full-time job list. However, there's a catch: you'll need to rely on some luck to land this job. BitLife's career list is random, refreshing each time you age up or close and reopen the app. While the construction worker job isn't necessarily rare, there's a chance you won't find it right away, requiring you to use one of these two methods to receive a new list. Screenshot by Destructoid This can become even trickier if your character has worked in other industries. For example, if you've worked as a firefighter before, your full-time list will mainly have jobs related to firefighting. Nonetheless, it's still possible to find positions outside of this, even with this previous experience, so just keep searching until you spot it. What does a Construction Worker do in BitLife? Every job in BitLife, including the construction worker title, has three main purposes. They either help you complete weekly challenges, earn achievements, or make money so your character can afford to live life without going bankrupt and losing everything. In the case of a construction worker, past challenges like Master of the Elements and Macho Man previously featured this position as one of their required objectives. If you have the Challenge Vault, you can participate in these even outside of their active dates, letting you earn cosmetics to use on your characters in future playthroughs. Aside from this, the construction worker job doesn't have any promotion roles to pursue. Instead, you can work toward raises by working hard and staying employed. That way, even if you start at a lower salary than usual, you can quickly work your way up with enough time and dedication. PC gaming mod hub Nexus Mods is under new ownership for the first time in 24 years as creator Robin “Dark0ne” Scott hands off the baton for the sake of his mental health. The figurehead of one of the biggest gaming sites on the internet posted about its next chapter in a message published today. It comes with confirmation that Scott has already officially stepped away from Nexus Mods, “following months of meetings, face-to-face talks, and a whole lot of soul searching.” The message keeps many of the behind-the-scenes details under wraps but says two new individuals — one named Victor (a.k.a. Foledinho) and another named Marinus (a.k.a. Rapsak) — have adopted the leadership role, with both of their profiles now bearing the “Site Owner” title. The leadership change signals the beginning of a new era for Nexus Mods, and for Scott, a much-needed break. "The strain of being responsible for the behemoth I created has taken its toll. “The strain of being responsible for the behemoth I created has taken its toll,” Scott explained. “The stress of the job has been a regular source of anxiety and stress-related health issues. I realised that I have been burning out and this started to have an impact on my staff and Nexus Mods as a whole. So, I firmly believe that the best thing for the future of Nexus Mods is for me to step aside and bring in new leadership to steer the business forward with renewed energy to make Nexus Mods the modding community we all truly deserve.” The small project born in Scott’s bedroom for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind eventually ballooned into a massive entity in the gaming space. The Nexus Mods About Us page notes that this beating heart of the PC gaming community is made up of 63.4 million users and 16.8 billion file downloads, positioning it as one of the most highly trafficked ***-based websites on the planet. As Nexus Mods has grown, so too has its impact on Scott, who has spent “every single day” for more than 20 years “on call.” Losing his direct input in the day-to-day operations of Nexus Mods will surely result in some changes, but Scott assured modders and gamers alike that the shift should not be cause for concern. This is me doing something I probably should’ve done years ago: taking care of myself. “Behind the scenes, I’ve already been stepping back bit by bit,” Scott clarifies. “Over the past few years, the team has taken on more of the weight and the site’s been doing better than ever. What’s changing now is simply the formality of it, making sure the right people are in place to guide Nexus Mods into the next era.” Scott says his stepping down from Nexus Mods, as well as a few small structural changes, are moves made to ensure “long-term stability” and won’t impact how the site has been operating recently. He goes as far as to say, “Nexus Mods is community-first and mod-author focused, that’s not up for negotiation.” As Scott steps away from his direct leadership position, the modding creator says he’ll still engage with the Nexus Mods community on its Mod Author Discord, forums, and more. He’ll also help guide the site’s 40-person team as the page is turned, relieving his duties as its face and figurehead. “So yes, the ownership of Nexus Mods has changed hands, but I want to be clear, this isn’t some corporate ‘exit’ or a backroom deal,” Scott adds. “This is me doing something I probably should’ve done years ago: taking care of myself. Reclaiming some headspace. And finally letting go of the idea that I have to do everything and be responsible for everything myself.” Nexus Mods has housed thousands of fan-made creations for games like franchises like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Stardew Valley, Baldur’s Gate, Cyberpunk 2077, and many, many more for decades. In fact, just moments after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion shadow-dropped earlier this year, dozens of minor mods had already been published on the site. It’s the go-to place for PC gamers to modify their games to their liking, and with its first change in leadership in 24 years comes a fair amount of uncertainty for its future. Genshin Impact could be replacing its biggest role sooner than expected, as a recent leak allegedly shares Paimon's new voice with the rest of the community. Despite being a non-union project, it's fair to say that the SAG-AFTRA strike affected Genshin Impact in a major way. Many of its voice actors entered a collective work refusal with HoYoverse, either to obtain concrete AI guarantees or to flip the project into going union. While the Genshin Impact community was initially supportive of the voice actors and their plight, public opinion soured following the recast of Kinich in Version 5.5. View the full article
