With the success of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, eyes are naturally turning towards other well-loved older Bethesda games. At the top of many people’s lists is Fallout 3, which was Bethesda’s first foray into the Fallout franchise, rebooting the series from a top-down, turn-based, isometric into something closer to a first-person shooter. But in order to compete with the success of Oblivion Remastered, there are particular issues any Fallout 3 remaster would have to address. View the full article

Rematch just isn't a game where you can 1v5. Goalkeepers are blessed with unlimited stamina, ball hogs are easily stolen from, and it's pretty easy to react to a lone player's desperate shot at the goal. That hasn't stopped some players from instantly dropping ten smackers on the Ronaldinho skin and treating the ball like the One Ring... Read more.View the full article
The long-awaited Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy's collab is finally here, bringing us new content, including an entirely new killer, Springtrap. As a new addition to the vast roster of DBD killers, Springtrap naturally poses a new danger players will need some help fighting against. Thankfully, Springtrap has as many advantages as he has flaws, so here's our guide to countering this classic FNAF character. Table of contentsSpringtrap counter guideNever look at him directlyHide and run among as many obstacles as you canUse the security cameras to keep track of SpringtrapAssign roles to each team member and be efficientSpringtrap counter guide Springtrap comes with numerous abilities that make him play sort of like a combination between The Huntress and The Xenomorph. He can move around the map using doors (as can the survivors, but more on that later) and sports a mighty hatchet that he throws at enemies, albeit not at the frequency The Huntress does it. In melee, he's a bog-standard killer with not much going on, meaning most of his gameplay is going to revolve around the axe and the doors. Survivors can use the doors against him by travelling through them across the map, while also utilizing security cameras to see where Springtrap is on the map and potentially outline him for other players. This is a massive advantage for the Survivor team, though other gameplay maneuvers are necessary, so let's get into them. Never look at him directly Springtrap can be a formidable killer if he's not managed correctly. Screenshot by Destructoid In case the killer is using his own unique set of perks, he will have Phantom Fear equipped, which is a fantastic perk all-around. Whenever you look directly at Springtrap while within his Terror Radius, your survivor will scream and be revealed for several seconds, allowing him to easily figure out where you are even if you're not directly in his line of sight. The best strategy here, then, is to not look straight into him, especially when he's coming close. Try to use the camera to maneuver around and use his red line of sight light as a guide to avoid triggering the perk and leaving yourself vulnerable. Hide and run among as many obstacles as you can Springtrap is one of the slower killers in DBD, so looping him is a great course of action. Screenshot by Destructoid While similar to The Huntress, Springtrap's Axe is far quicker and more powerful and needs to be removed for the Survivor to regain access to healing. The caveat here is that, unless removed, Springtrap will always see where his axe is, i.e. always know where you are. Therefore, it's crucial you use as many obstacles to your advantage as possible so as to make Springtrap embed his axe into the environment (it will be unavailable to him for a while) or to miss entirely. Walking in pairs at all times is also advisable so you can remove the axe out of each other more effectively. The axe is quite difficult to remove, though, and the likelihood of your going down before succeeding in getting it out is quite high. Have your partner be nearby at least to get you off the hook if nothing else. Use the security cameras to keep track of Springtrap Springtrap's Doors can be used by Survivors to access the camera system, allowing them to scour through the map and keep track of the killer. Screenshot by Destructoid The security cameras are one massive advantage Survivors get when playing against Springtrap. Though he can move around using the Security Doors, the Survivors can take a look at the map through the camera system within the Doors themselves, allowing them to keep track of Springtrap's movements and even reveal his aura to the entire team. The downside of this tactic is Springtrap is notified when he's being watched, so he'll likely make a run for the doors as soon as he notices. This means you'll have to leave and fast so as to avoid getting grabbed (if Springtrap passes through a Door while you're inside, you'll immediately be grabbed). The cameras also have limited batteries, meaning you cannot spam them the entire time non-stop. If the batteries run out, you'll also lose the ability to move through the Doors, massively crippling your mobility. Springtrap, on the other hand, isn't limited by lack of battery power, so be mindful of when and how you use the cameras. Assign roles to each team member and be efficient Each Survivor has a role to play. The more spread out you are, the harder it is for Springtrap to counter you. Screenshot by Destructoid This is usually the best strategy for most killers in the game, but particularly effective against the slower ones like Springtrap. He can be looped for ages by agile Survivors and generally be slow in how he manages the map. If you spread out and all know what you're doing in your particular field, Springtrap will be too torn apart to be able to effectively put you all down. His movement through the Doors is a bit less intuitive than other mobility powers of other killers, and their positioning is usually predictable (near generators), allowing you to play around them. Utilizing proper efficiency and task assignments, alongside the killer-specific tactics I've outlined above, should get you a quick and easy win. Failing to use his abilities and powers against him will prove a major detriment, however, so give him a few spins yourself to see how Survivors react to each of his actions. A text-based adventure linked to the real world of FNAF: Secret of the Mimic? Yes, please. Moon.exe is a mysterious program installed on all H.E.L.P.E.R terminals across Murray's Costume Manor. Tied directly to David Murray and the Mimic, Moon.exe is important not only for its lore, but for the secret ending. Here's how to complete Moon.exe to get the best ending in FNAF: Secret of the Mimic. Sadly this conclusion cannot be a reality, for we all know where the Mimic ends up. Screenshot by Destructoid A programme on Murray's Costume Manor's H.E.L.P.E.R security terminals, Moon.exe is a text-based horror adventure game you can access during Secret of the Mimic at any time. You may struggle to complete it, however; there's a small matter of 25 collectibles you need to find and place inside Moon. The collectibles take the form of presents, little gifts scattered around the Manor, left behind by Sun. Finding these and placing them inside the Inventory Tube System sends them directly into the game. Transferred into code, these gifts turn into new options in Moon.exe, indicated by the yellow text. Not all gifts are relevant to progressing through the text-based adventure, but you need these to achieve your goal: To get the Glitched Permission for Secret of the Mimic's secret ending. I interpret the cryptic story in Moon.exe to be through the eyes of the Mimic, who's copying different people (wearing their "masks"), and living through David Murray's memories as he starts in a form of prison, and ends at David's bedroom. Dead by Daylight has hosted crossovers with just about every fictional universe possible, horror or otherwise. Over the years, we've seen survivors and killers based on movie series like Halloween, Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play, as well as games such as Castlevania, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill. Naturally, then, DBD would have to get around to featuring one of the most popular horror game series to emerge in the last few decades. Wall-runners and jetpackers, I'm sorry. Activision just confirmed there won't be any of that sort of movement in Call of Duty: ****** Ops 7. In a new episode of the CODPOD (Call of Duty Podcast), CoD senior director of studio communications Stephanie Snowden broke the news that will sadden some and excite some others. I am unfortunately listed within the former. Image via Activision "I can confirm no wall-running, no jetpacks, but it will feature an evolution of [****** Ops 6's] omnimovement," she said. "*****, there you go." Man, I'm bummed. CoD has been burning me out bigtime over the past few years and omnimovement was a shot in the arm in BO6, at least in the first few months. I was hoping that a return to some different movement mechanics, a la wall-running from ****** Ops 3 or jetpacks from Advanced Warfare would be in the cards for BO7. But, alas. Thankfully, CoD leaker @TheGhostofHope has provided some hope (hehe) for the movement fans, though, saying that there won't be traditional wall-running but the game will have "wall jumping" instead, so that may be included in the omnimovement "evolution" teased by Snowden. This info is unconfirmed. Snowden had the responsibility of also shooting down hopes of a Blackout battle royale revival. The BO7 reveal trailer showed characters flying into a big map with wingsuits, which the first (and many think to be superior) CoD BR included. Nope. That's just from the co-op campaign, according to Snowden. The rest of the podcast included a lot of hints and winks towards CoD news coming "later this summer," which will hopefully be another Call of Duty Next event where Activision will host content creators to play and tease the new game. ****** Ops 7 still doesn't have a release date just yet, but odds are it will fall on a Friday at the end of October or beginning of November. Stay tuned. The post Some new ****** Ops 7 info got dropped in the CoD Podcast, and my hype just died quite a bit appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article

Sony and Bungie’s Marathon reboot has been delayed to a new, unspecified release date. The Destiny and Halo developer announced that its previously planned September 23, 2025 release date had been officially removed from the calendar in a post on its website. It’s a message that comes with the promise that an update, as well as a new release date, will be delivered this fall. “Through every comment and real-time conversation on social media and Discord, your voice has been strong and clear,” Bungie said. “We've taken this to heart, and we know we need more time to craft Marathon into the game that truly reflects your passion. After much discussion within our Dev team, we’ve made the decision to delay the September 23 release.” The Marathon delay follows criticism revolving around a Marathon alpha test held in April. The conversation around Bungie’s new take on the live-service, extraction shooter formula has been heated to say the least, so a delay isn’t too shocking. “The Alpha test created an opportunity for us to calibrate and focus the game on what will make it uniquely compelling — survival under pressure, mystery and lore around every corner, raid-like endgame challenges, and Bungie’s genre-defining FPS combat,” Bungie’s message adds. “We’re using this time to empower the team to create the intense, high-stakes experience that a title like Marathon is built around. This means deepening the relationship between the developers and the game’s most important voices: our players.” Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hermen Hulst went as far as to address feedback just last week, calling the response from fans “varied.” His comments also included the promise that the Marathon reboot would get a release date set by March 31, 2026, while assuring naysayers that the company had no intention of repeating the mistakes seen with last year’s Concord. While no new Marathon release date has been revealed, it appears as though players can at least expect to get their hands on Bungie’s latest by March 2026. In the meantime, the studio has laid out three major points of feedback it plans to address that should leave a better taste in players’ mouths. These include “upping the survival game,” which means more challenging and engaging AI encounters, more tense and strategic combat, and a more rewarding experience overall. Bungie adds that players can expect increased visual fidelity across the Marathon experience along with more story to uncover and a darker tone that falls more in-line with the original Marathon universe. The delay also grants the studio the opportunity to add “more social experiences,” including improvements for solo and duo runs as well as proximity chat. “You’ll hear from us again later this Fall when we can share the progress we’ve made, alongside the game’s new release date,” Bungie concluded. “Thank you again for your patience and — much more importantly — your passion. Your continued feedback will help us make Marathon the incredible gaming experience we all know it can be.” Bungie announced its Marathon reboot in May 2023 and remained quiet as its development progressed throughout 2024. Trouble arose with the launch of its alpha test along with controversy centered on plagiarized work that had been discovered in Marathon itself. As uncertainty has taken over the conversation, many have begun to discuss how the impending game launch could impact the future of the studio forever. You can read our hands-on Marathon preview here. Michael Cripe is a freelance contributor with IGN. He's best known for his work at sites like The Pitch, The Escapist, and OnlySP. Welp! Marathon has been delayed. The writing was not only on the wall, but on the floors, the doors, the ceiling, cripes, how did it hit that one spot? A lukewarm (at best) reception mixed with a discovery that Bungie had wholesale lifted the work of another artist without permission all led to a reported free fall of morale at the studio, so this is honestly the least surprising thing in the world. In any case, let's look at the post Bungie made explaining their decision to delay the shooter. Read more View the full article
