  1. Just when you think you've seen everything in an expansive game like Stardew Valley, there's always more secrets to discover even after 400 hours of gameplay. On top of the staggering amount of content ConcernedApe has updated the cozy farming sim with, Stardew Valley keeps finding ways to surprise players with hidden features or Easter eggs that can significantly change your farming effectiveness. 3. The development staff behind Lies of P are set to receive numerous bonuses as a result of hitting a big sales milestone. As reported by South Korean publication The Elec, the game and its recently released DLC Lies of P: Overture have now passed 3 million cumulative sales, taking all physical and digital sales on PC and console into account. Although it had been stated last year that the game had been played by 7 million players, Lies of P was released on Xbox Game Pass on day one, meaning a large number of those 7 million people had seemingly played it via Microsoft’s subscription service rather than buying the game. "Your kingdom, your call" announced the Crusader Kings 3 trumpets earlier this week when they put out a new player survey, which is a terrifyingly verbose achievement for brass instruments, but useful for anyone who wants to give Paradox their opinions on where the grand strategy game should head next, as well as get a few hints about the futures it might already be making plans for. 6. Newly-launched indie title PEAK has been attracting plenty of players in the opening week, and you can increase your share of fun with the help of mods. Modding the game isn't the easiest of tasks, as the only available option is via Thunderstore. The collection of available mods is limited as of writing, but I have found a few of them to be quite useful. Let's look at some of the best options, followed by how to install them in the game. Table of contentsBest PEAK mods to useHow to use mods in PEAK?Best PEAK mods to use The number of available options might be slightly less, but I expect more items to be released very soon. Here's a list of the best ones I have come across and used on my adventures. PEAK Unlimited: If you have a lot of friends to play with, this is the best mod. It allows you to bypass the limit of four players in a group and include more buddies. Only the host needs to have this mod to enjoy the benefits.PEAK Unbound: This small mod offers something highly beneficial - changing the controls and creating your config. However, the control keys can't be rebound.Console Unlocker!: If you're in for some fun with your friends, using the console commands might not be a bad idea. This mod allows you to access the same console commands available to the developers, but don't abuse the mechanics too much.NoFallDamage: I am not a fan of the game's fall damage, and this mod prevents that from happening.Easy Backpack: I still don't understand why we need to drop our backpack to use it in the first place. Thanks to this mod, you won't have to take unnecessary action every time you need to bring out something that you might require. There are a few more interesting modes, like the one that lets you fly or entirely disable your stamina depletion. Using them, in my books, removes the fun of playing PEAK in the first place. How to use mods in PEAK? The process of using all the mods above is the same. First, download the mod file and save it to your drive. Next, complete the following steps. Screenshot via Thunderstore Download Bepinex, which acts like a mod manager.Extract the files and place them where your game is installed. It should show up as a separate folder titled BepInEx.Open and close the game to set up Bepinex, and create a plugins folder inside the BepInEx folder.Paste the downloaded mod file in the plugins folder, which should do the task. Run the game, and the mod should work fine. To remove the mod, delete the required file from the plugins folder inside the BepInEx folder. The post Best PEAK mods appeared first on Destructoid. 7. Nothing is more powerful, Hotline Miami and its -likes teach us, than a good corner from which to lurk and swing sharp objects at conga lines of investigating idiots, each somehow convinced that although he just watched four mates get blade-battered in that exact spot by some murdercrazed invisible entity, he will personally be the one that overcomes the unassailable instant death corner with all his favourite bits intact. Perhaps this is the Slaughter Void this lethal arcade action game speaks of, although, hang on: it's got its own creation myth, in which a betrayed deity unleashes her anguish and makes everything at least 60% more violent and ***** than it was previously. The claret-spattered cosmic psychedelia was enough to sucker me in alone, but there's some nicely written fiction here too. It's the kind that just pokes its horns through the walls occasionally, giving you enough of a sense of the entire beast to feel like you're entering somewhere with history, without bogging down all that good good corner slaughter. 11. Star Path events in Disney Dreamlight Valley are full of riddles for you to solve in exchange for redeeming reward tokens. One difficult example is giving a clumsy villager his favorites. Who is this mysterious clumsy villager, and what are the favorites the task is referring to? That's what we're here to answer today. Let's dive into exactly how to find a clumsy villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley, the best ways to give them their favorite gifts, and why you might want to do so. Table of contentsHow to find a clumsy villager in Disney Dreamlight ValleyWhat are the clumsy villager's favorites in Disney Dreamlight Valley? How to find a clumsy villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley The clumsy villager you're looking for is Goofy. While some would argue that characters like Donald Duck and Olaf are clumsy, Goofy is the character you'll have to give gifts to for this Star Path duty. By finding Goofy in Dreamlight Valley, Eternity Isle, or the Storybook Vale, you can give him three gifts and quickly knock out this duty without any issues. Screenshot by Destructoid If you can't find Goofy anywhere, there's usually one of three reasons. The first is that he's asleep if you're logging on between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. Outside these hours, you may not notice his portrait if he's in a busy location, such as inside Chez Remy or Scrooge McDuck's shop. Alternatively, if you have the Rift in Time or The Storybook Vale expansions, he may be roaming around Eternity Isle or the Vale rather than Dreamlight Valley. What are the clumsy villager's favorites in Disney Dreamlight Valley? Goofy's "favorites" refers to his three daily preferred gifts. Depending on the Star Path event, this can range from three to five required items. You can find this exact list in the Collection log under characters. Hovering over his portrait reveals his three favorite items for the day, which you can gift him to complete the Star Path task. The exact requirements and rewards vary with each Star Path even you complete. During this task's first appearance, Majesty and Magnolias, you received 20 tokens for gifting three favorite items to Goofy. With the more recent Adventures in Never Land Star Path, you obtained the same reward but need to give him five gifts instead of three. In other words, you can complete this in one to two days if you gather all three gifts per day. Otherwise, if you're missing one or two, you'll have to wait another day to wrap up the task and claim your reward. Since events like Adventures in Never Land raise the objective to five gifts, you'll need at least two to three days to finish this task instead. Plan ahead so you can complete this in time for the event's end. The post How to give a clumsy villager his favorites in Disney Dreamlight Valley appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
  12. One of the most challenging characters to unlock in Disney Dreamlight Valley is Jack Skellington. While most villagers have realms or special questlines attached to them, Jack is all about finding mysterious dolls that power a treehouse for him. You even need to meet him to unlock Sally later. Jack Skellington's introductory quest isn't even particularly difficult. Instead, it can feel frustrating if you fall into a certain category of unlucky players who struggle to find small objects. There are a few steps to get through, so let’s get started. Table of contentsHow to unlock Jack Skellington in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to find the Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight ValleyWhat to do with the Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to unlock Jack Skellington in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid Jack is unlocked by completing a quest called “Something Comes A’Knocking.” You can start the mission after meeting the following requirements: Unlock the Forgotten Lands (15,000 Dreamlight)Restore all six of the Pillars around the Valley:Pillar of Friendship (Peaceful Meadow)Pillar of Power (Dazzle Beach)Pillar of Trust (Glade of Trust)Pillar of Nurturing (Sunlit Plateau)Pillar of Courage (Forest of Valor)Pillar of Love (Frosted Heights)Unlock the Fairy Godmother and complete the quest “Miracles Take Time”Find a Matryoshka Doll After you’ve completed “Miracles Take Time,” a mysterious tree will emerge in the Forgotten Lands that has a pumpkin carved on it. It’s a familiar tree for any fan of Nightmare Before Christmas, and this is the beginning of your efforts to unlock Jack. Sadly, you don't actually get to visit Pumpkin Town. How to find the Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley Before you meet Jack for the first time, you’ll need to find four Matryoshka Dolls. They're all different sizes, from a big one down to a tiny version. They can spawn anywhere in the village, including in the Forgotten Lands, so you’ll need to keep an eye out for them while you go about your duties. They’ll be surrounded by the same golden glitter effect as any other quest item. Image by Destructoid Matryoshka Doll spawns are completely random. Even if you search YouTube videos or ask a friend where they found theirs, it won't help much, as you'll likely have entirely different spawn locations. Nonetheless, you can use the image above to gauge what they look like and get an idea of what to look for. If you've been wandering around your Valley for hours looking for your last Matryoshka Dolls, I recommend opening your furniture menu and moving around your items. Odds are, a doll is hiding under one of your furniture items, especially if you have a very decorated Valley. Your decorations could be hiding the Dolls, and going into the furniture menu allows you to move items around to see beneath them. Moving around this way is also much quicker than physically running around to locate the Dolls, especially since their glow can appear as your camera pans over them if you're within range. What to do with the Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid When you’ve eventually gathered up all four differently-sized Dolls, go back to the Forgotten Lands and make your way to the pumpkin tree. You’ll be able to place all four of the Dolls in front of the tree one by one, which will cause Jack to appear. You'll also get to keep the Dolls, and they make for cute decorations. All that’s left to do from there is to build Jack’s house. It’s a shrunken-down version of his house from the film and costs 5,000 Star Coins to build. With that done, Jack will be moving in and making himself at home in no time. Just don't leave him in charge of presents at Christmas. Today's digital discounts span epic space operas, cult oddities, and co-op masterpieces, with some titles hitting historically low prices. This Day in Gaming In retro news, I’m lighting 22 candles for Sonic Adventure DX, the high-speed 3D platformer that burst onto the GameCube in 2003. Back then, the excitement was real. This wasn’t just a basic port of the Dreamcast hit. It came with a stack of extra missions, a playable Metal Sonic skin (!!!), and a gallery of visual upgrades that brought a glossier look to familiar levels. Sure, the camera had a mind of its own, and Big the Cat's fishing stages were divisive at best, but it still felt fresh. DX kept Sonic relevant during a weird transitional time for *****, and for fans like me, it scratched a nostalgic itch at just the right moment.
