  2. The end credits of Deltarune Chapter 4 reveal that the story will continue with Chapter 5 in 2026. Serving as a spin-off to the wildly popular 2015 role-playing indie game Undertale from developer Toby Fox, Deltarune tells the story of a human teenager named Kris who lives in a town inhabited by peaceful monsters. Rather than a proper sequel, the story of Deltarune occurs in parallel to its predecessor, allowing a number of familiar faces to make an appearance in the follow-up to Undertale. 3. The Harvest Moonname is still synonymous with the farming sim genre, but the next release to bear the title doesn't stand a chance of competing with Stardew Valley. When Stardew Valley first hit the scene in 2016, it was the up-and-comer, building on obvious Harvest Moon inspiration to deliver a compelling experience with enough strengths of its own. Nearly a decade later, Stardew Valley has plenty of players who have never even touched a Harvest Moon game, and it's become one of the gold standards of comparison for any new farming sim. 4. It's hard to believe that 2025 is halfway over, but there's still plenty of big game releases to look forward to before the calendar flips over once more. July 2025 is full of some big-name games, along with some promising new IP that players are hoping will fulfill their potential and become a new smash hit. But with so many games and so little time, choices must be made as to which ones get your money and attention. Screenshot by Destructoid Whether you're a sporty gamer and looking to pick up Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 (July 8) or EA Sports College Football 26 (July 10), or an FPS fan and want to dive into Destiny 2: Edge of Fate (July 15) or Killing Floor 3 (July 24), July 2025 has just about every kind of gamer covered. We'd be remiss if not mentioning Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17, or the Pacman-inspired Shadow Labryinth on July 18, so even nostalgic gamers are going to be eating well. And if you're into some of the more cozier stuff, Tales of the Shire is dropping on July 29, the same day as Grounded 2. Basically, there's a lot of fun games in the month to choose from. These games are all on top of existing titles getting new updates and live service content, like season three of Marvel Rivals, season five of Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6, and many others, so if you're looking to avoid the rising temperatures and pump up the air conditioning while playing something new, July 2025 may be stacked. And now, I ask you, dear reader, which of July 2025's new games are you most looking forward to picking up? 6. Netflix’s Castlevania and ****** May Cry showrunner Adi Shankar has turned his attention to the Duke Nukem series after acquiring the screen rights from Gearbox Software. The animated adaptation creative lead teased his next project during an interview with Esquire. Although projects like ****** May Cry Season 2 are currently top of mind, it sounds like something based on the legendary tongue-in-cheek first-person shooter franchise is currently in the works. “I'm being approached with different IPs and companies that want to work with me,” Shankar said. “I bought the rights to Duke Nukem. Not the gaming rights, but I bought it from Gearbox.” Duke Nukem is an unmistakably ‘90s video game franchise that got its start in 1991, but it wasn’t until 1996 that it would find its FPS footing with Duke Nukem 3D. Although a laundry list of sequels arrived throughout the 15 years that followed, its 2011 entry, Duke Nukem Forever, was heavily criticized by critics and fans alike. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360-era title did so much to damage the blond, buzzcut hero’s reputation that there has not been a new Duke Nukem installment since. Shankar is already cooking up ideas for what a present-day take on Duke Nukem could look like. It’s unclear if fans can expect to see an animated Duke Nukem show in the vein of Shankar’s other projects, a movie, or something completely different, but it’s clear Shankar is trying to put together a project of some sort behind the scenes. "I don't intend on having anyone tell me what to do on this one. “It's a middle finger to everybody,” Shankar said when describing his vision for Duke Nukem. “When Duke Nukem blew up, a bunch of people sat around trying to turn it into a brand, when it's just a middle finger. Duke Nukem can't be made by a corporation, because the moment a corporation makes Duke Nukem, it's no longer Duke Nukem. I don't intend on having anyone tell me what to do on this one.” We’ll have to wait to see what Shankar has in store for the ‘90s icon. For now, no casting, plot, or release date details for the Duke Nukem show have been revealed. It's unclear how the recent rights aquisition will impact the Legendary Entertainment Duke Nukem movie reported on in 2022. For a better look at what to expect, you can read up on his other Netflix projects. We gave Season 1 of ****** May Cry an 8/10 in our review, with Castlevania Season 1 earning an 8.1/10 from us upon its release in 2017. Shankar is involved in other Netflix projects, too, including the Castlevania: Nocturne spinoff series, an Assassin’s Creed series, and even an animated PUBG show. 9. Infinity Nikki is expected to launch housing in Version 1.8, but a recent leak implies that Infold will also introduce a monthly furniture pass for $11, monetizing yet another aspect of its cozy dress-up gacha. Despite its successful launch, Infinity Nikki suffered a major blow to its reputation with the release of Version 1.5. On top of being a technical disaster, causing major issues across several platforms, Version 1.5 introduced a dye system that was heavily monetized, requiring players to purchase premium currency to unlock a single dye palette for each individual clothing piece. 10. One of my favorite things to do in any RPG is to do an evil playthrough, and Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't disappoint with plenty of choices for evil parties. However, although an evil playthrough can open up new quest options or dialogue, it can limit the number of companions who will be available. Unsurprisingly for a game that involves saving the world from evil cultists, not everyone will stick with you if you turn to the dark side. View the full article
  11. At long last, it's time to wrap up Peter Pan's Disney Dreamlight Valley friendship quests. After talking to the Fairy Godmother about Peter's pirate game and reentering Skull Rock, you'll learn from Ariel the existence of a special Valley Pirates treasure chest within this cave. Table of contentsValley Pirates Treasure Chest location in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to unlock the Valley Pirates Treasure Chest in Disney Dreamlight ValleyValley Pirates Treasure Chest location in Disney Dreamlight Valley The Valley Pirates' treasure chest is at the top of Skull Rock inside the music puzzle room. You originally discovered this location during the introductory Skull Rock questline, which involved collecting glowing musical notes and arranging them into a complete score. However, there's a catch. Although you don't have to repeat the barrel or music room puzzle to traverse these areas, you do have to avoid spotlights that are now scattered around Skull Rock. After climbing the wooden plank ramp beside Ariel up to the platform where you trapped Peter Pan's shadow for the first time, you'll spot a couple of these spotlights rotating a golden light that'll teleport you back to the area's checkpoint if you touch them. Screenshot by Destructoid The best way to avoid these lights is to sprint around them or slowly follow the beams until you're safely on the other side. You'll also find characters like WALL-E and Olaf along the way, but you don't have to worry about them affecting your stealth mission in any way. Although you'll find multiple of these lights throughout Skull Rock, the strategy for dealing with them remains the same. You may have to sprint through a few that are close together, particularly those around the pirate's ship. Otherwise, it's mostly a game of speed or patience, depending on your preferred strategy. How to unlock the Valley Pirates Treasure Chest in Disney Dreamlight Valley After you make it to the music room, you'll spot Peter Pan, the pirate's captain, and a treasure chest waiting for you to proceed. Following a brief chat with Peter, you'll discover that The Forgotten is the captain of this operation. Talk to them to initiate a verbal, simulated swordfight. Screenshot by Destructoid The dialogue options you pick are entirely up to you. Let this be a chance to have some fun with The Forgotten before concluding the fight and claiming the treasure chest. They'll give you a silver key, which you can use after interacting with the chest. You'll find a furniture pouch containing more Valley Pirates' treasure chests to place within your village, letting you conclude the "The Valley Pirates" quest and Peter Pan's friendship missions. 13. REMATCH, the latest title developed by Sifu maker Sloclap, has garnered over one million players since its release just a few days ago. Its stellar success could mean that we finally have a true competitor to the long-standing, long-reigning arcade football king, Rocket League. REMATCH, much like Rocket League, is an arcade football (or soccer in the language of freedom) title where two small teams play ball with wild and quick movement and abilities. And that there's a market for such a thing has been evident for a long time, given how popular and for how long Rocket League has been. Now, REMATCH has managed to hit the million-player milestone, according to its developers, with nearly 100,000 concurrent players during peak hours on Steam. The game also launched on Game Pass a few days after its initial release, which would explain its massive Steam numbers despite its presence on Xbox's service. Rematch replaces cars with actual human characters, but retains all the arcade mechanics reminiscent of Galactic Football. Image via Sloclap There are two key distinctions between Rocket League and REMATCH. There are no cars but rather well-animated human characters playing ball, and the main focus is on two, 5v5 matches instead of 3v3. While there are other nuances, this is the gist of it. However, both games play in much the same way, have high arcade concepts and do away with realism for the sake of fun, fast-paced, competitive gameplay. Speaking of which, both are team-based, and, though you can solo through the opposing side if you're good enough, you'll find that playing alone is nigh-impossible for most people, be it Rocket League or REMATCH. Their similarities are quite obvious, then, and it's no surprise that a new and just different enough experience would sweep through the arcade soccer market. REMATCH, with its incredible success just days after its release, could mean it's on track to become the next fad in the genre, either overtaking or competing with Rocket League directly. In less than a month, Rocket League will be a decade old, and it was about time someone came in to supplant the old king and inaugurate a new era for this unique genre. It's good to see that it wasn't a game that is a straight-up copy of the Rocket League experience with a different coat of paint, but rather a newer take on an established formula that pushes it forward and opens it up to further iterations by other studios. If anything, it proved there are more than a few players eager to jump on such games, and Rematch has all the potential to be remembered and known by the gaming world just as much as Rocket League is, ten years after its release. Though I will say that Rocket League still pulls an average of about 30,000 concurrent players during peak hours, and we'll have to wait and see if REMATCH can do the same in 2035.
