Dragons Dogma 2 players rejoice, for a new PC mod has arisen that will allow you to temper the incessant chattering of your pawn companions and prevent them from constantly pointing out the presence of treasure chests, ladders, and so on. The world of Dragons Dogma 2 is inhabited by a race of endlessly useful non player characters known as pawns, who live to serve and protect the player character. Along the way they’ll ******, find items, provide guidance with ques, and, generally, talk a lot. While this is welcome at first, some Arisen have been left irritated by the relentless bombardment of dialogue unleashed by pawns even dozens of hours into the game. To solve this, PC players can now install a mod which allows pawns' conversations to be altered or removed entirely. NexusMods user emoose released the aptly named SHUTUPPAWNS mod is currently available to download though players will first have to download the REFrameworks mod. SHUTUPPAWNS comes with a number of presets that allows you to block out pawn dialogue relating to specific objects, such as ladders and chests, and the UI also provides players with a list of the last ten lines of pawn dialogue, which can then be individually added to a blocklist, allowing for a more nuanced approach. The mod also allows the player to enable an option that blocks the celebratory high five animations that often occur after battles. In our 8/10 review we said Dragon’s Dogma 2 was “a strange and wonderful action-RPG that bolsters the original’s strengths without addressing its weaknesses". The deck-fixing roguelikelike poker of Balatro is chuffing excellent, no doubt, but my main criticism has been that the higher difficulty modes are just a bit boring. Having beat them myself, I didn't find them a fun or interesting challenge as much as an annoying one that required too much to go right. I'm glad to hear that they're being tweaked in an upcoming patch, which you can now test in a public beta on Steam, and even the lowest difficulty setting will be tweaked. The developer of Balatro, LocalThunk, has launched the first major update for the game this week. When Microsoft ***** off 1,900 staff from its gaming arm eariler this year, one of those affected was Devann "LadyDevann" McCarthy. Since she was ***** off from Bethesda, the former Fallout 76 community manager has been busy planning out what's next for her, and says she doubts she'd have dealt with being let go as well if it hadn't been for the support of the Fallout community. While everyone that's been let go by the likes of Microsoft, PlayStation and the far too large list of other companies in the games industry that've cut staff over the past little while is important, McCarthy's dismissal was arguably more noticiable than most, simply due to the huge outpouring of love she recieved from the community she helped cultivate. Thankfully, in the months since that point, it seems like the support from Fallout fans for the ex-CM hasn't let up. Speaking to VG247 for an upcoming feature, McCarthy outlined how the Fallout community has helped her stay positive as she's worked through what, naturally, sounds like it's been a time of substantial change and upheaval in her life. "The community has been so supportive, they really have stayed right next to me and gone out of their way to make me feel cared for," she said, "I still get messages from them checking in on me and seeing how I am doing, and I've been getting a lot more visitors to my C.A.M.P. in-game!"
