Hola Helldivers 2 people. Arrowhead's just dropped some nice new ship module upgrades for you to contemplate purchasing and ultimately chicken out because you're too stingy. Seriously, these are aimed at hardened vets looking to take their craft to the next level, so you'll have to fork over a lot in order to...erm...make your crew expert box packers. If you're out of the loop, today's the day that the Democratic Detonation Warbond actually arrives in-game to help you continue to battle the automaton invasion force, provided you can avoid accidentally blowing yourself up with the new crossbow. Alongside that, these ship upgrades have arrived, and they're just like taking a trip to space IKEA (other furniture shops are available). As announced by community manager Baskinator on game's official Discord server, these modules are a part of the Super Destroyer Fleet Upgrade that's just been deployed, which lets you grab some level four revamps for the different sections of your ship. As you might expect given they're level four, they do slightly more than just add some of those throws and blankets that your mum likes to the sofas and cost a fair amount. The $70 release day price for standard AAA titles is both unsustainable and on the way out, claims Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch, via an interview with IGN reporter Rebekah Valentine. Speaking to Valentine, Karch reckoned in public that the $70 game is “going to go the way of the dodo" because it isn't "sustainable". Here's the full chunk: Read more View the full article

Immortals of Aveum developer Ascendant Studios has reportedly furloughed the majority of its staff. That’s according to a LinkedIn post by former employee Kris Morness, which has been corroborated by Polygon reporter Nicole Carpenter. “Ascendant Studios has furloughed the majority of their staff,” said Morness, who left the studio last summer to join Phoenix Labs. “I can’t imagine what that would be like as that is worse than getting ***** off.” Read More... On April 10, Blizzard Entertainment announced that World of Warcraft Dragonflight Patch 10.2.7 will introduce a new game mode—Remix Mists of Pandaria. If Plunderstorm ******** available, there will be six different versions of WoW you can play, and the odds of you seeing another content drought are slim. Warlords of Draenor and Shadowlands weren’t terrible expansions like many WoW players make them out to be. In fact, I’d say they were decent, but when you spend months and months waiting for another piece of content, you’ll probably quit the game. View the full article

The Lofree Flow may not come with the brand recognition of Corsair, Razer, or Logitech, but it's a low-profile mechanical keyboard that delights in many surprising ways. It's small and compact, has charming aesthetics, and is a delight for many applications. But does it deserve a spot on our best wireless mechanical keyboards guide? And is it a good fit for gamers who want something less intrusive on their desks? I've been testing the Lofree Flow 100 for around a month to find out. Read the rest of the story... Between Frostpunk 2, Fallout, and Stalker 2, it's looking like a good year for the fantasy apocalypse. GSC's survival shooter imagines a twisted, radiated wasteland where every expedition - no matter how short or functional - must be meticulously planned, lest you fall victim to monsters and bandits. Frostpunk 2 meanwhile is a high-pressure, minutely detailed city builder, where people, resources, and politics must be carefully managed, and your primary enemies are a hazardous environment and boiling social tensions. The much-anticipated sequel to one of Steam's underground hits, a new strategy game combines city management with survivalistic exploration and quests, and it's coming soon. Blumhouse Productions is rather busy at the moment and looking at the future with big bets such as a new Blair Witch movie and Todd McFarlane's long-in-the-works Spawn reboot. Now, it's got another surefire winner on its hands: Five Nights at Freddy's 2. In year full so far of surprising horror movie news, this is perhaps the least shocking, as the first Five Nights at Freddy's massively overperformed late last year, earning almost $300 million worldwide (a number that, for reference, the latest theatrical Marvel Studios production didn't even begin to sniff at) on a small $20 million budget. That's the power of Blumhouse's magic, combined with an extremely faithful fanbase. The announcement (via Variety) of FNAF 2 arriving in late 2025 was one of the biggest reveals that happened during Universal Pictures' CinemaCon 2024 event, where no further release date, plot, or cast details were shared. However, writer-director Emma Tammi has been expected to return for a while, should she accept the mission. "I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next," star Josh Hutcherson said earlier this year. Disney Speedstorm players have grown upset at developer Gameloft after it announced the premium track of its battle pass can only be purchased with real money going forward. Players could previously spend tokens earned through gameplay on the battle pass, called the Golden Pass in the Mario Kart-esque racer, but as Gameloft announced in a community update, this would no longer be the case as of Season 7, which is expected to begin sometime in April 2024. Disney Speedstorm is a free-to-play game, but players looking to earn the premium battle pass rewards must now spend $9.99 of real money to do so. Akin to most battle passes available today, a free track which requires no additional spending is also available. Much frustration comes from players who've been around since the beginning of Disney Speedstorm and bought Founder's Packs to gain early access to the game alongside various other benefits like a hoard of tokens. IGN has asked Gameloft for comment. "I bought two Founder's Packs, one on Steam and the other on the Microsoft Store," said BellMellor on Reddit. "My idea was to have enough tokens to buy season passes for at least one year and a half. Now they've breach what they promised, saying we would be able to buy season pass with those tokens, and since they are breaking their agreement, shouldn't we be able to ask for a refund? I mean, what I bought is not what they sold me anymore." Gameloft did make clear across several instances of its own content, like its support page and its early access FAQ, that tokens could be used to purchase the battle pass premium track and even the more expensive tier, which lets players skip several levels. This information is still live on both Gameloft's website and the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store where tokens can be purchased. "Tokens are an in-game currency that can be earned for free by achieving goals in the game or by being purchased using real-world money," the description across multiple sites reads. "They are not season-based and can be accumulated. They can also be used to obtain items in the shop, buy the Golden Pass, skip Golden Pass tiers, and much more." It's worth noting this information is still correct until Season 7 arrives later in April, though none of the mentioned sources indicate any change is coming. "I've been a player since the free to play launch," wrote ArfenZard on Reddit. "I've hung on for dear life through all the bad decisions since then because at its core this game is great. The latest news though... Unless something gives at some point before or during the next season I think it will be my last." They continued: "I'm never gonna fork out actual cash for something that has been directly taken away from me and anyone who does is actively paying to help the demise of the game." Myriad similar complaints have appeared all over the internet, and Disney Speedstorm's Steam reviews have taken a hit too. "The gameplay isn't too bad, not perfect but a solid 7/10," wrote one user. "Everything else is **** awful. I have never known of a game to be so predatory with it's micro-transactions." Another added: "Incredibly greedy company. Monetization gets worse and worse. They have no respect for their players and don't care about making a great game or experience. As someone who has always been a big Disney fan, this game makes me less likely to purchase Disney products going forward." Monetization has been long considered an issue in Disney Speedstorm, even appearing as a major factor in IGN's 5/10 early access review of the game in April 2023. "Disney Speedstorm is a fundamentally good kart racer currently ******* beneath so much gacha garbage and so many currencies that it almost seems like a parody of the entire free-to-play genre," we said. Margot Robbie produced and starred in one of the biggest cinema hits of 2023, Barbie. Now, she’s returning to toy-based films, as she’s set to produce a “blockbuster” Monopoly movie. Baldur's Gate 3 players looking to show off their love for the beloved series Critical Role can now do so with some exceptionally well-crafted items pulled directly from the show. Given that both are inspired by and make use of the rules of Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition, it makes sense that some creative fans would find a way to unite Matt Mercer's ever-popular campaign with Larian Studios' RPG. While plenty of mods already exist that incorporate characters and locations from Critical Role, this creation is more subtle and, arguably, much more fun. View the full article

Palworld finally unveiled players' first look at the long-awaited Arena mode that will allow Trainers to battle it out by sending their team of Pals into the fray. While the game mode had already been announced in Pocket Pair's roadmap for the open-world survival game, the studio parted the curtain on how it'll function, spotlighting a system that, as can be expected, looks very similar to Pokémon. Given that combat already plays a major role in Palworld's core gameplay loop, the decision to add in an Arena mode simply feels like an extension of the already-existing mechanics. Look, Barbie was great and all, but maybe we made a mistake giving it so much of our hard-earned money. After Mattel unleashed IP *****, actor-producer Margot Robbie has been on a rampage, first securing an adaptation of The Sims (probably a good fit) and now turning her sights to... Monopoly, which sounds like a much ******* sell in today's climate. Via Variety, we learned on April 10 that Robbie's production company LuckyChap will be producing "a live-action feature film based on the ubiquitous real estate-inspired board game" alongside Lionsgate. Hasbro Entertainment, of course, will be involved in the adaptation effort. The idea of an adaptation of Monopoly has been floating around for a while now if you can remember, and in late 2023, Lionsgate extended its development rights to the board game with its purchase of eOne (previously owned by Hasbro). To the surprise of no one, Monopoly ******** one of the world's most popular board games, receiving countless iterations over the years, spin-off products, merchandising, and highly successful video games such as Monopoly Go! on mobile. In fact, Monopoly has been around since 1935, which is a shocking fact for anyone who's not really into board game history. Read more View the full article
2023 was one of the best years in the video game industry, thanks to the release of some incredible games. One of them was the ***** Space remake, and its success sparked hope for a remake of the sequel. Unfortunately, that hope is about to vanish. On April 10, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said an Electronic Arts spokesperson shut down rumors about a ***** Space 2 remake. There’s supposedly “no validity to this story,” and people close to the project confirmed the statement. View the full article
Larian Studios may now be synonymous with the critically-acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3, but with the Swedish studio hanging up its cape on the DnD spin-off, it’s returning to its roots—while trying something entirely new. Before Larian took the reins on BG3, the studio made its name with Divinity, the tactical RPG series. The last entry, Divinity: Original Sin 2, launched in 2017 to a glowing reception, and while we know the developer has another entry in the works, there’s a long wait ahead. View the full article
Alongside the release of the new Democratic Detonation Warbond in Helldivers 2, the warriors of Super Earth may now improve their Super Destroyer through the massively destructive level four upgrades. These modules include well-deserved buffs to little-used weapons, though their massive cost leaves them out-of-range for the near future. Administering the highest level of democracy will take some time. Screenshot by Dot Esports On April 11, alongside the Democratic Detonation Warbond, Helldivers 2 released its first expansion to the Super Destroyer Ship Module system since the game came out. The level four upgrades for the Super Destroyer cost 150-200 Samples, 150 Rare Samples, and 15-20 Super Samples apiece. In addition, they are the first upgrades to cost Requisition Slips, costing between 20,000 and 25,000 of the game’s most basic currency. As a result, they are extremely useful, though they are a bit more targeted than some players might like. The newest upgrades are as follows: View the full article
[/url] The Frankenstein's monster of a GamePad hack responsible for the creation of Trimming the Herbs. [credit: Ahoyo ] Last month, the Super Mario Maker community was rocked by the shocking admission that the game's last uncleared level—an ultra-hard reflex test named "Trimming the Herbs" (TTH)—had been secretly created and uploaded using the assistance of automated, tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) techniques back in 2017. That admission didn't stop Super Mario Maker streamer Sanyx from finally pulling off a confirmed human-powered clear of the level last Friday, just days before Nintendo's final shutdown of the Wii U's online servers Sunday would have made that an impossibility. But while "Trimming the Herbs" itself was solved in the nick of time, the mystery of the level's creation remained at least partially unsolved. Before TTH creator Ahoyo admitted to his TAS exploit last month, the player community at large didn't think it was even possible to precisely automate such pre-recorded inputs on the Wii U. [Hidden Content] The first confirmed clear of Trimming the Herbs by a human. Now, speaking to Ars, Ahoyo has finally explained the console hacking that went into his clandestine TAS so many years ago and opened up about the physical and psychological motivations for the level's creation. He also discussed the remorse he feels over what ended up being a years-long ****** on the community, which is still struggling with frame-perfect input timing issues that seem inherent to the Wii U hardware. Brace yourself. ***** Space, well, it appears to be ***** again. Yep, EA's reportedly put the series "on hold" for the second time, though, it does at least seem like some ideas for a new entry were briefly considered early last year, though none of them were actually given permission to become a thing. This news follows a chain of events which began with Giant *****'s Jeff Grubb reporting that a ***** Space 2 remake was in development, before being canceled. EA quickly responded to that, sending a statement to IGN which said "We don't normally comment on rumours, but there is no validity to this story." Now, following some digging, it seems that the remake was one of a couple of ideas that were briefly explored, before EA opted to put the series on pause. That last part's according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who's reported that EA elected to put ***** Space back on hiatus "as early as last spring", with any desires from developers to make a new entry apparently being "derailed after sales of the remake missed the company’s expectations".
