What's the biggest game you've ever played? There was a ******* of about two weeks where all I did was play Fallout 3, sunup to sun down. Likewise, I'm not sure how many hours I've committed to Red ***** Redemption 2 and the Grand Theft Auto series - and heck, by modern standards, these aren't even that gigantic, not alongside goliaths like Last Epoch or Baldur's Gate 3. Back at Steam Next Fest, a new survival sandbox pulled in more than 180,000 players to become the third most popular game of the entire show, thanks to a stupefyingly large 40-hour demo. Now, it's about to launch its first ever global playtest. Between 300 and 400 hours long, if you want it to be, it puts an original spin on rivals like Rust and The Forest, and you can play it yourself real soon. Speaking exclusively to the developers at GDC, PCGamesN brings you the exclusive on a behemoth of a beta. Read the rest of the story... Among big upcoming hitters like Manor Lords and Frostpunk 2, one city building strategy game we've had a close eye on during its run-up to launch is Bellwright. Starting from the basics of survival, gathering and crafting, through to the ability to build out a settlement, muster and train your forces, and lead them into battle from the front lines, this new mix of strategy game and RPG is a rival to the likes of Valheim and Medieval Dynasty that boasts a whole lot of promise, and we now have a date for when we can play it. We have some disappointing news for anyone hoping to see new and improved integrated graphics from AMD. It appears as though the company is setting itself up to stay committed to RDNA 3+, a refresh of its existing RDNA 3 GPU architecture, until at least 2027. While its Ryzen processors are rightly regarded as some of the best gaming CPUs on the market, AMD enjoys similar success when it comes to the performance of its integrated graphics. The company's APUs power many of the best handheld gaming PCs, while also making a splash on the desktop with its 8700G, which is capable of 63fps in Cyberpunk 2077 without the need for a discrete graphics card. Although the Fallout franchise has found plenty of success with its Bethesda-developed entries, it could be exactly the right time for a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas. A spinoff game that followed after the success of Fallout 3, New Vegas still holds a unique place in the series, offering a setting and story that hasn't been replicated within the Fallout universe ever since, and a devoted subsection of fans still see it as the best game that the series has to offer. The early access release of Lightyear Frontier has illuminated much more about what the highly-anticipated interstellar title has to offer. The debut release from FRAME BREAK, a subsidiary of Amplifier Game Invest, gives many classic conventions of its genre fun, technological twists through its mech-based mechanics. They're overall quite satisfying, and exploring the alien world is a relaxing yet engaging journey. As is to be expected from an early access game, there are elements that could use more expansion, but it currently has a very strong foundation to build on. View the full article

Bungie revealed which subclass abilities and class Aspects will be available to mix and match in the upcoming Prismatic subclass, and while not everything made the list, players agree this is exactly what Prismatic needs. In a Destiny 2 development blog post on April 10, Bungie went into more detail about the capabilities of the Prismatic subclass. Unlike our initial impressions, not every Aspect and ability will be available in Prismatic. Supers like Well of Radiance and Aspects like Banner of War will seemingly remain exclusive to their subclasses. This may come as a disappointment to some, but Destiny 2 fans on Reddit agreed this is a great and balanced approach. View the full article
Infection Free Zone is an average zombie apocalypse survival game with the caveat of being able to answer the age-old question – can you survive a zombie apocalypse where you live?Simulate the apocalypse anywhere in the worldWhen I caught wind of Infection Free Zone, I thought the setting for the game was too good to be true. The Steam page claims that you can pick anywhere in the world to play. I limited my expectations and imagined that maybe we’d get some major cities from a selection of countries, which would still be pretty cool.I was wrong. You truly can play anywhere in the world.Screenshot: PC InvasionI immediately searched up the city that I lived in and was blown away to see my street, my road, the local park, and nearby shops. It was as if Google Maps had been taken over by the infected. I clicked on buildings that I knew to be shops and establishments – and their names were written in the game!I genuinely couldn’t believe it....View the full article

I know exactly what you’re thinking after reading this headline. Why would you go into one game expecting it to play like some other one you like? After all, it doesn’t make sense to burden it with the expectations we have from playing another, especially if it never explicitly positioned itself as a spiritual successor or anything. Something about Stellar Blade - the upcoming PS5 action RPG from developer Shift Up, however, always gave me Sekiro: Shadows **** Twice vibes, and I’d wager it has a lot to do with its parry-heavy combat. So I couldn’t help but get into the Stellar Blade demo with that mindset. Read more View the full article
Boo! After eons of silence, Bethesda has finally provided us with an update on Fallout 4's long-awaited next-gen update. It's coming later this month on April 25, an it's got some stuff in it, which I'll explain below. As outlined in a new blog post, the update is actually coming as serveal versions, all aimed at different platforms. So, wherever you're playing Fallout 4, you should be in line to benefit from your own bunch of tweaks, as well as some free Creation Club goodies. Though, sadly, the update's timing means it'll land pretty close to Fallout: London's release on April 23, so we'll have to see if that has any repercussions for the massive mod. For next-gen consoles, that's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the update will include native applications for those devices, plus "performance mode and Quality mode settings, as well as stability improvements and fixes." Those on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will just get "stability improvements, login and quest fixes". Read more View the full article
The next chapter of Hellblade 2 is almost here, and we're already mentally preparing ourselves for the journey ahead. Senua's Saga is set to follow in its predecessor's footsteps in its representation of how the titular Pictish warrior perceives the world - both within and without. As studios push for photorealism to depict fictional worlds in which gore, *********, and brutality are commonplace, in-house mental health support services for developers and performers are more important than ever. With this in mind, I ask Ninja Theory studio head Dom Matthews and Senua actress Melina Juergens how the studio approaches taking care of its people as much as its players.
