  1. DICE has released a new hotfix for Battlefield 6 that makes some temporary adjustments to XP in the shooter's newest game mode, Strikepoint. The studio didn't elaborate on the exact changes that have been made, but it is speculated to be due to a recent exploit discovered by Battlefield 6players that granted squads up to 2.5 million XP if the right circumstances were met. 2. Tactical Breach Wizards was one of my favourite games from last year—you can read my full thoughts in my Tactical Breach Wizards review—but in case you're unfamiliar, it's a turn-based tactical RPG with great writing, interesting worldbuilding, and a razor-sharp sense of humour. It also just happens to be a really solid tactics game on top of all that, which is nice, and is why we gave it our Best Tactics award last year... Read more.View the full article
  3. Celebrity cameos in videogames are hit and miss. Nicki Minaj in Warzone? Big nope for me. Kevin Spacey in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare? Certainly something. But sometimes, it's just perfect. Charlie Cox and Andy Serkis in Expedition 33, for example, or Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba in Cyberpunk 2077. But, for the universe's creator Mike Pondsmith, getting Reeves - "the nicest guy on earth" - play the "incredible jerk" that is Johnny Silverhand felt pretty ironic. Nevertheless, he fell in love with Reeves' bad boy rocker, and would love to see him reprise the role when the sequel rolls around. Read the rest of the story... 5. Microsoft has confirmed the next batch of games set to leave Xbox Game Pass, and one in particular has caused a degree of frustration with subscribers: Stalker 2. GSC Game World’s Stalker 2 launched as an Xbox console exclusive last year alongside backing from Microsoft. While it is not an Xbox Game Studios-published video game, Microsoft played a key role in its marketing ahead of its much-delayed release date in November 2024. It even worked with the Ukrainian studio on a 90-minute documentary that revealed the difficulty the developers faced building the game amid Russia’s full-scale invasion. As confirmed by the Xbox app, Stalker 2 is set to leave Game Pass on November 16, 2025, alongside four other games detailed below. Games set to leave Xbox Game Pass on November 16, 2025:Stalker 2Football Manager 2024 / Football Manager 2024 ConsoleBlacksmith MasterFrostpunkSpirittea It’s Stalker 2’s exit that has caused the most kerfuffle, with some Game Pass subscribers criticizing the move a year after launch, and just ahead of the game’s release on PlayStation 5 on November 20. “Microsoft backed GSC through all the delays and even the invasion, so it’s surprising they weren’t able to secure a better deal,” said redditor JBishie. “I think it’s a matter of principle: the game was incomplete at launch and is only now starting to resemble a finished product, yet it’s being removed from the service just as the 1.7 update approaches, and with the PS5 release coming up, the timing looks especially poor.” Indeed, the fact Stalker 2 launched first on Xbox and PC with quite a few problems, which are only now ironed out in time for the PS5 launch, is being highlighted by those who believe the game should remain on Game Pass for a while longer. “It's been a year, which is a pretty standard time for non MiS games,” said VickyCriesALot. “I'm not sure why this is such a shock to people like it's unprecedented. Lmao.” “Because the game just got to a decent state in that year's time?” countered davepars77. “It’s going to take another year to get everything sorted, not even talking about DLC yet. It's been in early access not a finished product so now’s a great time to rip it off the service.” “I think it’s a really bad precedent that a game stays shorter in Game Pass than we had to wait for it to launch, beyond waiting MONTHS to become properly playable patch after patch,” complained X / Twitter user @ZakkenKloot. “It's bad that Stalker is going,” added @Matty_Cs_World. “It was good but basically released very buggy. I don't like that a premium subscription is just used as a beta testing area for devs. I did want to go back to the game. But I guess that ship has sailed.” “Xbox has to stop funding unfinished early access games essentially for Game Pass day one titles,” said Minute-Use-8489. “Two games that come to mind Stalker 2 & Payday 3 came out very unfinished and took a year for them to fix and update each game than once their good to play they get removed from Game Pass feels like a scam to the subscribers imo.” It’s worth noting most of the games on this list are available with a discount of at least 20% until they leave Xbox Game Pass in early November. It doesn’t help that Microsoft recently sparked a significant backlash by hiking the price of Game Pass. In the case of Ultimate, it went up a whopping 50% to $29.99 a month. That amounts to an extra $120 a year. To justify the price hike, Microsoft upped the number of day one releases per year to 75, and added Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics for the first time ever. There were also upgrades to Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming quality. As for Stalker 2 on PS5, it launches on Sony’s console with full support for the DualSense controller’s features, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Further technical enhancements for the PS5 Pro are also in development. Wesley is Director, News at IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. 6. Former Rockstar writer Dan Houser says there’s never been a 3D Grand Theft Auto game set in London because American culture is what defines the series. When the original Grand Theft Auto was released on PS1 and PC in 1997, it was followed by a mission pack called Grand Theft Auto: London 1969, as well as a shorter, free PC-only one called London 1961. Since then, fans have frequently asked for a full 3D open-world iteration in the Grand Theft Auto series to be set in London, much like Sony’s PS2 game The Getaway. Read More... View the full article

  9. The Bilguun's Hideout location in ARC Raiders is a vital quest area, but finding the place can be really challenging if you don't know where to look. This location is tied with the What We Left Behind quest in Spaceport. The quest requires you to find rare loot in three spots on the Spaceport map. This guide will help you find the location if you have yet to find it. Bilguun's Hideout location in ARC Raiders The first task is to enter Spaceport. Unlocking the map requires a fair amount of time as you proceed through the earlier locations. Once done, you'll want to move to the central part of the map. Bilguun's Hideout is located right next to the Container Storage building. I have marked the spot on the screenshot below for your convenience. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid Infact, Bilguun's Hideout is a small container that's attached to the wall that serves as the boundary for Container Storage. When you approach the spot, you'll want to tread carefully. Stick close to the wall to protect yourself from enemy fire. While I haven't found too many ARCs, the location always attracts human players since it's tied to the quest. There's a ladder that leads you into the container. I didn't find any loot at the location, but the quest item is a bunch of notes. Once you find the notes, the objective will automatically update, and it will automatically bring up the What We Left Behind quest. Bilguun's Hideout should be the third and last task to complete as part of the quest. Your first objective will be to find a set of notes in the South Swamp Outpost area of Dam Battlegrounds. This will be followed by going to the Parking Garage in Buried City. Once you loot any two containers in the Parking Garage, you'll be tasked with heading over to Bilguun's Hideout and finding the valuable loot (the notes). 10. ARC Raiders has plenty of spots that can be opened only with the use of a key, and the Cellar in Blue Gate can be extremely rewarding for you to find some great loot. As with several other locations in Blue Gate, you'll need to first find the key. All keys, barring those associated with quests, are found at random, but you'll still have to look at the correct locations. This guide will help you find the key that unlocks the Blue Gate Cellar and elaborate on where you can use the key. Table of contentsWhere to find the Blue Gate Cellar key in ARC RaidersHow to use the Blue Gate Cellar key in ARC RaidersWhere to find the Blue Gate Cellar key in ARC Raiders The Blue Gate Cellar key's exact position in the game is random. You can find the key in Dam Battlegrounds, and in Ruby Residence, to be precise. The Ruby Residence has a container that always spawns random keys based on the current map rotation. If you're lucky, you could end up finding the key required to open the Blue Gate Cellar. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid You can also try your luck at the Research and Administration building. You'll find a container on the second floor of the building that tends to spawn keys randomly. Both these locations can also spawn keys for other areas like the Confiscation Room, Village, and Communications Tower. Once you find the Cellar key, the next task is to head to the correct location to use the key. How to use the Blue Gate Cellar key in ARC Raiders Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid Unlike other keys for Blue Gate locations, there are multiple Cellars where you can use the key. The one in the screenshot above is located near the Olive Grove location in Blue Gate. Go to the southern part of the map. The Cellar entrance is a bit south of Olive Grove, which is a great place to find resources like Olives and Lemons, which are required for upgrading Scrappy. 11. This ain’t the 90s, folks. Many - if not most - games today don’t just live on a disc or a one-time download anymore. They live online as live services, delivered through patches, DLC drops, seasonal updates, ranked matches and live-service events. Did you know your internet speed plan and home setup might be the final boss standing between you waiting to download the latest patch and actually playing it? Now that nbn has introduced accelerated wholesale speeds on select Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) plans across Australia, eligible gamers have a chance to unlock a smoother connection that is built for the demands of today and designed to be ready for what is coming next. Here is why speed can make a difference, now more than ever. Faster Downloads Could Mean First Dibs on Content Gamers are wired for speed - we want everything immediately. We want in on new features, bug fixes and DLC the moment they are live (and sometimes that’s still not quick/soon/fast enough). That said, today’s game updates can be massive. We’re not talking a few hundred megabytes anymore. We’re talking a night-killing gigabytes of data - 50, 100 or even up to 200 and often simultaneously with other downloads. On a 50Mbps download speed, a 200 GB file can take hours or could take almost as long as a Lord of the Rings marathon, to install. Meanwhile your mates are already power leveling and you’re stuck doomscrolling on your phone while the progress bar drag across the screen. On an nbn® wholesale HFC or full fibre high speed plan, those same downloads can finish in a fraction of the time. Eligible Aussie homes can now enjoy up to 5x faster nbn wholesale speeds on select HFC and full fibre plans. Instead of watching your console crawl through a glacial install process, you are in the lobby, headset on, party chat buzzing. While you’re playing, faster speeds helps your online sessions stay smooth, even if the rest of the household is smashing the connection.* Since nbn is a wholesaler, we recommend that you speak with your preferred internet provider to find a speed plan that suits your household. More Devices, More Demands Let’s be honest: it’s not just you and your console anymore. The Aussie household is practically a tech zoo, with and average of 25 connected devices. TVs stream in 4K. Laptops chew through video calls. Tablets binge YouTube. Smart speakers, security cameras and even your fridge are all begging to connect to your home Wi-Fi. Add in your console downloading a new patch and your PC pushing to keep ping steady? Suddenly the internet feels like a crowded bus at rush hour with no air-**** and you just ate a big meal. This is where higher speeds can make a difference. When you have enough bandwidth to play with, everyone in the house gets what they need without stepping on each other’s connection. No more watching your ping spike the second your housemate starts live streaming their favourite sports team’s match. No more getting pwned because someone decided to download a new season of their favourite show in 4K. Think of it as squad coordination. If everyone is trying to run in different directions at once, the mission fails. But with a faster connection, the squad works together and nobody gets left behind. Get your Setup Future-Ready By 2030, the average home is expected to almost double its number of connected devices, hitting 44. That’s prediction - that may even be exceeded. We are all going to end up with more gadgets hungry for bandwidth and games themselves are only getting heavier. Blockbusters now regularly push past 150GB installs. Updates alone can ******** what used to be equivalent to a hard drive of space. If you are only planning for what works today, think again. Being future-ready means choosing a speed tier that can handle the needs of today and tomorrow. A faster plan and optimised internet setup can help ensure your console, PC and TV doesn’t choke the second a new generation of hardware or services arrives. It is the same logic as buying a gaming rig with some headroom. You don’t build a PC that can only handle this year’s titles at minimum specs. You build one that can carry you into the next few years without breaking a sweat. Your internet setup should be configured with the same long-game mindset. Help Stop Lag From Stealing Your Win Streak Lag is not just an inconvenience - it is the enemy of victory and must be defeated. It is the split second that decides whether your shot lands or glitches past. It is the stutter that knocks you off the leaderboard and forces you to watch someone else take the crown. It’s annoying - and mitigable. With faster nbn speeds, you can finally stack the odds in your favour. Higher speed plans give you access to the bandwidth that’ll help you keep playing, even if other devices are hammering the network, or even if the next patch download is a big one. So, before you blame your controller, your console, or even your squadmates, ask yourself: is it time to level up your internet speed? Let your skills do the talking. With fast nbn speed tiers, you can focus on your next move, not your connection. Ready to level up? Check what's available to you here. *Your experience, including the speeds actually achieved, depends on many factors, including whether you are using the internet during the busy periods (7pm - 11pm), the number of people in your household online at the same time and some factors outside of nbn’s control (like your equipment quality and set-up, chosen broadband plan, age of device(s) and/or how your provider designs its network). For nbn Fixed Wireless, speeds may also be impacted by the number of concurrent users on the nbn Fixed Wireless network, including during busy periods (7-11pm). View the full article

  15. The Blue Gate map's Village area has a closed door that requires a particular key for you to open it in ARC Raiders, and obtaining it can be a challenging task. The Blue Gate Village key is one of the many items that's not related to a quest. This increases the difficulty in obtaining the key, as you'll have to rely on your luck. This guide will help to raise your chances of success, and also discuss where you can use the Village key to obtain more loot. Table of contentsHow to get the Blue Gate Village key in ARC RaidersHow to use the Blue Gate Village key in ARC RaidersHow to get the Blue Gate Village key in ARC Raiders The Blue Gate Village key, like so many other keys in the game, can be found in residential areas. The exact area will be based on your luck and map rotation. The best spots to look are the marked areas on the screenshot below. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid I managed to find it in Ruby Residence. There's a cabinet on the second floor of the building, which is an excellent source for all kinds of keys in general. If the key isn't there, try looking in the Research and Administration and Research building. If you don't find the key over there either, you'll need to wait for the map to rotate. These places are also great for getting other Blue Gate keys that allow you to access the Confiscation Room and the Communications Tower. How to use the Blue Gate Village key in ARC Raiders Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid The Village is situated in the western part of the map, and you'll have to go to the marked position. Once you reach there, you'll find a massive door that opens with the key. Go inside, and you'll have plenty of items to loot. It's a high-tier loot area, so you can find some fantastic items to add to your inventory. The post Blue Gate Village key location in ARC Raiders appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article

  20. ARC Raiders has tons of keys that open completely unknown doors, some of which are gateways to high-value loot and goodies. But finding the keys themselves is often just as difficult as the doors, with these being some of the rarest drops in the entire game. The Spaceport Container Storage key is one of many such items, so here's what you can do to find it. How to find the Spaceport Container Storage key in ARC Raiders Areas such as these have a chance to drop keys. The Buried City's many apartments, houses, and residences are amazing for key-hunting, too. Screenshot by Destructoid Keys in ARC Raiders are random drops and most commonly spawn in Residential Loot Zones, meaning you'll usually uncover them in cabinets, drawers, and other containers in apartment buildings or residential complexes. Each map contains several of these areas, but it's never a guarantee that a key will drop. The best places to check out (i.e., the easiest) appear to be places like the Pale Apartments on Dam Battlegrounds or the Grandioso Apartments on The Buried City. Both of these locations, and Residential zones adjacent to them, don't usually see too much player traffic and are close to the most common spawn points on each of the maps. There is no telling if searching for map-specific keys on those particular maps increases the odds of their dropping, so try your luck by looting all of these Residential areas. How to use the Spaceport Container Storage Key in ARC Raiders The Container Storage area where you can use the key is heavily guarded by ARCs. Screenshot by Destructoid Once you've found the key, you'll have to go to the Spaceport map, specifically the Container Storage Loot Zone. It's one of the most valuable areas in all of ARC Raiders, so prepare to encounter a ton of traffic from players rushing to see what they can find. The room you want is at the top floor, and could be heavily guarded by patrolling ARCs like Fireballs, who tend to protect valuable items. 21. The Spaceport Control Tower key can be your next source of riches inside ARC Raiders, but finding it can be a headache. Like almost all non-quest-related keys, the one required for the Spaceport Control Tower spawns randomly. The exact spot will depend on the current map rotation. Table of contentsHow to get the Spaceport Control Tower key in ARC RaidersHow to use the Spaceport Control Tower key in ARC RaidersHow to get the Spaceport Control Tower key in ARC Raiders A common place for keys in general appears to be the residential areas of the map. I managed to find the Spaceport Control Tower key in the Ruby Residence Building, but it doesn't always spawn at the location. An alternate area to look at is the Research and Administration Building in Dam Battlegrounds. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid You should be able to find the key in one of these two locations. However, it all boils down to your luck. It could also happen that the locations spawn other types of keys, like the one that allows you to access the Confiscation Room in Blue Gate. Just make sure to add the key to your inventory if you're lucky, and move it to your safe spot (so that you don't lose it). Let's find out how to use the key. How to use the Spaceport Control Tower key in ARC Raiders Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid Once you have obtained the key, head to Control Tower A6. I have marked the location for your convenience, where you'll find the entrance. Take the zipline to reach the upper level. You'll encounter a bunch of ARCs along with the possibility of finding human enemies. Take care of them first before trying to use the key. Once done, take the stairs, and it will lead you to the metal door. Use the key to gain access and add all the loot to your inventory. Once again, it's a high-tier loot area, so you could end up with some fantastic items. The post Spaceport Control Tower key location in ARC Raiders appeared first on Destructoid.
