Boheh Game Studio's horror game Slitterhead will release for PC on November 8th 2024, the developers have revealed at this year's Summer Game Fest. They've also popped up a new trailer, which is PS2 as *****, in what I consider to be the best of ways. Read more View the full article
A French game about mountain climbing? No, not that one. This is Cairn, not Jusant, and it’s actually a very different ******. Jusant could be tricky, but climbing was more the way you experienced its story. In survival climber Cairn, the ascent is the story. It seem to mainly be a story about how bad you are at climbing. In what is only the third ever piece of videogame-related media to make me weep at my keyboard, Volgar the Viking devs and retro specialists Digital Eclipse have announced a Power Ranger videogame - Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind. It's a 90s-**** side-scrolling arcade brawler for up to five players, involves "time twisting", and has mode-7-style arcade shooter bits together with the original TV show's climactic mecha transformation sequences. LEGO Horizon Adventures being revealed to the world opens the floodgates for where the LEGO games can go. This can create limitless and unique possibilities that I for one am looking forward to. A whole new territory to explore We’ve seen how expansive LEGO can be with brands like Starwars. However, by collaborating with other game makers like Epic with Fortnite, experiences can be more unique. The proof is in the pudding. Just take a look at the world of LEGO Fortnite. The inclusion of the toy brand took Fornite to new heights, so I can safely predict that if they go beyond Fornite, we can see a whole slate of new types of games.Image: Guerrilla Games Walk before you can runBefore we even talk about the future of the brand, we have to see if LEGO Horizon Adventures will be hit or not. While everyone loves LEGO and everyone seems like Horizon Forbidden West, so it seems like a no-brainer. However, mixing two pieces of media that are very different from o...View the full article
You may know Montpellier-Based developers The Game Bakers as the folks behind the hack-and-slash bullet ***** game Furi, or the romantic sci-fi RPG Haven. What you may not have known that apparently, all of these games were part of a trilogy. As explained during tonight's Day of the Devs showcase (NOTE: or the main Summer Game Fest showcase, apologies, as this article was written in advance), these games have been part of a trilogy of freedom, with Furi being all about wanting to live free, and Haven centering around freedom to love whoever you want. And their new game that the debuted, Cairn, is about "...pushing beyond your limits, and breaking free from your obsessions" according to CEO Audrey Leprince. And indeed, there's nothing that fuels that kind of freedom more than climbing a massive mountain, far away from the rest of world, and conquering it even when things seem impossible, as seen in the reveal trailer below. The Summer Game Fest kickoff livestream continues to deliver, with the next item on the docket being a fresh look at Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the follow-up to the 2018 action RPG from Warhorse Studios. Jason Blum has taken to the stage at Summer Game Fest 2024 to reveal that Blumhouse Games hasa whole roster of games in the works from multiple studios, no doubt thrilling people who like being scared by things the world over. Let's start with Crisol Theater of Idols from Vermila Studios, which looks to be my (Kelsey's) worst nightmare as someone with a pretty big distaste towards dolls. Then there's what looks to be like a pixel-art horror adventure by Perfect Garbage, first-person experience Sleep Awake from Eyes Out, ***** the Spotlight from Cosy Game Pals, and The Simulation from PlayMeStudio. That's not all, either, with a sixth project in the works, currently coined Project C. With the visionary minds of Sam Barlow and Brandon Cronenberg attached to it, and nothing but a cryptic quote about the future to go off, I think it's safe to say we can probably expect the pair to develop something mind-blowing. Or unique, at the very least. Read more View the full article
The next installment in the beloved strategy-sim franchise has been confirmed after an accidental ***** earlier in the day: Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 is coming to PC and consoles in 2025. The confirmation comes after a panel and banner for Civilization 7 appeared accidentally on the 2K Games website just hours before the Summer Game Fest showcase today. This accidental ***** followed rumors from months back that Firaxis was working on the next installment in the series. View the full article

Get ready to turn back the clock, because it’s morphin’ time! Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a classic, retro-style co-op arcade game coming soon, and it looks glorious. Done in the style of another recent beat-em-up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, it looks like a trip into a time machine. View the full article
It’s easy to draw comparisons between Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona, given that the upcoming RPG is in the works over at Persona makers Atlus and is built around a similar ‘transform into an awesome-looking ******/creature and do battle’ concept, but so far all those comparisons only serve to highlight just how ***** good Metaphor: ReFantazio looks. Neva is immediately recognisable as the next puzzle platformer from the developers behind Gris thanks to its sweeping, overlapping planes and effortlessly natural watercolour art, which were both on show again in tonight’s Geoffest Summer Game Fest show. I was expecting more eye candy from Neva after its announcement last summer, but what caught me by surprise was all the hacking and slashing that ensues in its second trailer. Oh, this one looks nice, doesn’t it? Tears Of Metal is a rousing medieval stabathon that sees you retaking your Scottish island from a bunch of bad lads who’ve decided to come have a go, which was a bit silly of them, honestly. It’s a hack n’ slash co-op roguelike with some nifty looking strategy elements and a striking art style, but you can tell most of that from the trailer below: Read more View the full article
According to a new *****, the fan-favorite prestige system could be returning to Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6. The prestige system is a classic Call of Duty feature appearing all the way back in 2007's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Once a player achieves the highest rank in multiplayer, they can opt to reset unlocks, ranks, and challenges for a prestige emblem. The player would then start the process over and once they hit rank 55, they could prestige again. Now, that feature is looking to return in Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6, according to recent leaks. What if Persona had you shift into jobs, instead of summoning Stand-like beings to ****** for you? That's pretty much the setup that Metaphor: ReFantazio puts to you. The upcoming role-playing game (developed by Studio Zero and published by Atlus) comes from alumni of the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series, and is the publisher's first wholly entirely original game since the studio's establishment in 2016. I said back in December, as part of The Game Awards, that Metaphor: ReFantazio feels like an SMT game in all but name. The latest trailer from the Game Awards 2023 really shows this off; between the battle system, the over-dramatic story, and that incredible world... this is a fantasy epic that eschews the ruined post-apocalypse of Tokyo in favour of something much more fantastic, much more original, much more... well, Studio Ghibli (and yes, I do say that because of the weird British accents). The new trailer showed us more, though; it showed us that there's a lot to look forward to in the battle systems and jobs, more than anything – you'll be using the power of archetypes to ****** your enemies and libreate the world here. Think the job system in some Final Fantasy games, and you'll have a pretty solid idea of what to expect. Read more View the full article
Street Fighter is crossing over with SNK yet again via the Street Fighter 6 season 2 DLC. Terry and Mai from the King of Fighters series are set to make a return, as well as Street Fighter favourites M. Bison (somehow) and Elena. You can check out the trailer yourself below There's no word on when these will be coming to Street Fighter 6, but in season 1 the character releases were seasonal, so expect one roughly every three or so months. As promised, Delta Force: Hawk Ops dropped a new trailer during Summer Game Fest’s opening showcase.
