  1. Back in my day, we didn't have these fancy-schmancy newfangled quest markers and compass points—we had to download add-ons if we wanted the minimap to tell us where our ten boars were, and then walk up the hill, both ways!.. Read more.View the full article
  2. Hi-Rez Studios has pulled all Dr Disrespect content from Rogue Company after the streamer was alleged to have sent ********* explicit messages to a minor. Guy Beahm, better known as Dr Disrespect, was banned from Twitch in 2020 without explanation. Last month, following a number of reports, Beahm admitted he exchanged messages in 2017 with a minor via Twitch's now-defunct Whispers feature that "sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate." Subsequent reports alleged the minor had informed Beahm they were underage, and Beahm continued to send "********* graphic" messages to them regardless. Twitch and Beahm have not responded to IGN's request for comment. Partners and sponsors like Turtle Beach, 2K, and the San Francisco 49ers subsequently cut ties with the streamer. Midnight Society, the game studio Beahm co-founded, also terminated its relationship with him, and monetization on his YouTube channel was suspended. Now, another video game Beahm was affiliated with has taken steps to distance itself from the streamer. Beahm had partnered with Rogue Company publisher Hi-Rez Studios, which is also behind Smite and Paladins, to design his own level and even a $20 character skin sold in the free-to-play third-person tactical action shooter. That premium content is no longer in the game. A statement published to the official Rogue Company X/Twitter account has signaled the change: “Hey Rogue Company, we have disabled Dr Disrespect content previously available on game. We will provide full Rogue Buck refunds to any impacted account this week.” In recent years interest in Rogue Company has dropped off significantly. After a Steam peak concurrent player count of 12,189 set three years ago, Rogue Company now averages just a few hundred players on Steam’s platform, with 236 concurrent players at the time of this article’s publication. Indeed, Rogue Company hasn’t seen a major update since 2023, indicating a deprioritization from Hi-Rez Studios amid the upcoming launch of Smite 2. It’s fair to say that the decision to offer Rogue Buck refunds as opposed to real-money refunds for the Dr Disrespect content has sparked a backlash from paying customers who would rather their money back than a virtual currency they deem to be practically useless. Some have taken to Rogue Company’s Steam user reviews, which are down to ‘mixed’ for recent reviews, to complain about the situation. “Where’s my $40? I have no need for Rogue Bucks when you guys haven’t updated the game in over a year,” said one person. “How about since we paid with real money you provide real money refunds?” said another. Meanwhile, Beahm hasn't issued a comment since his last stream, in which he played Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, almost two weeks ago. Image credit reddit / rescobar1997. 3. If Zenless Zone Zero’s regular combat feels like a walk in the park, just wait until you unlock Notorious Hunts. These battles pit you against the game’s most formidable foes and are guaranteed to keep you on your toes. Besides all those flashy limited-time events and banners, Zenless Zone Zero dishes out weekly challenges like Notorious Hunts. In these high-stakes brawls, you go toe-to-toe with some seriously beefy beasts, all in the hopes of seeing that glorious WIPEOUT screen and drowning in a sea of rewards. The loot is so juicy it’s almost *********, so naturally, you can only do these hunts three times a week. Plus, you can’t unlock them until you’ve slogged your way to the mid-to-late game in the 1.0 version of ZZZ. View the full article
  4. Manor Lords publisher Hooded Horse has responded to some of the recent criticism over the game's perceived lack of updates by labeling it as "distorted," among other unflattering descriptors. The move also prompted some fan backlash against Raphael van Lierop, the chief creative officer at The Long Dark developer Hinterland, who was the one who originally bemoaned Manor Lords' update frequency. 5. Today’s NYT Mini Crossword brought me back to school. While the “Pulitzer-winning novelist Walker” clue had me scratching my head at first, I soon got the answer. Pulitzer Prizes are awarded annually for journalism, arts, and letters. As alluded to in today’s clue, this includes novelists. There are many famous Walkers in history, but I think of this one when I think of novelist Walkers. View the full article
  6. While the Linux support of ALVR is still quite rough due to various issues with SteamVR, ALVR is a very promising way to stream VR games to your headset via Wi-Fi and a new release is out now with v20.9.1. Read the full article here: [Hidden Content] View the full article
  7. A Destiny 2 player recently shared a clip that hilariously shows how getting revived by a teammate can become brutal. Destiny 2 is a popular co-op first-person shooter developed by Bungie, which offers both PvP and PvE gameplay. The game is quite famous for its challenging gameplay in Campaigns, Raids, Strikes, Crucibles, and other game modes. View the full article
  8. As the BioShock community waits with bated breath for some kind of announcement regarding the fourth mainline game in the series, fans of the original title may be in luck. Despite releasing in 2007, the original BioShock is still very playable by today's standards even if some aspects haven't stood the test of time. The premise, world-building, and writing remain excellent but technical issues like janky animations and stilted combat often leave players wondering if Irrational Games' monolithic shooter wouldn't benefit from some kind of remake in a similar vein to ***** Space or Resident Evil 2. 10. The Witcher 3 having a bit of a modding renaissance at the moment, and the mod I'm about to tell you about might be one of the most impressive things to come out of it so far. What does it do? Well, let you swap Geralt out for a customisable witcher, witcheress, or sorceress without blowing a huge ***** in your immersion boat. As we've been reporting, TW3's REDkit modding tool, which gives folks access to a lot of the same stuff the studio originally used to create the game itself, has been allowing modders to do a lot of cool new stuff recently, including resurrecting cut content and porting over areas from the series' older entries. However, contrary to what you might first assume, 'Custom Player Characters' by modder Nikich340 sounds like it was in the works long befor CD Projekt lifted the game's hood. "I spent 2.5+ years on making this mod, there were a bunch of tools which I used, including some which I had to write myself," they write, "Redkit was helpful in fixing some animation bugs on last development stages." 11. You can't play Bloodborne on PC just yet, but some good progress has been made on making it a reality - just not thanks to PlayStation. Every time there's a new PlayStation State of Play announced, you're pretty much guaranteed to see one particular comment: "Bloodborne on PC?" There are some variations of that, like "Bloodborne remaster/remake?" but there's a huge community of fans of the game that really want it to come to PC. Rumours have swirled for years about such a thing happening, but nothing's materialised thus far, but even the game's director Hidetaka Miyazaki isn't opposed to the idea of it. However, last week, a big step was made to making Bloodborne on PC possible, just not the conventional way. The Twitter account for shadps4, a PS4 emulator, shared footage of Bloodborne running on PC for the very first time, a big feat for the in-development emulator. Now, to be clear, by running, I don't mean well - it manages to get up to the character creator, but as you can tell in the footage above, everything is a bit messed up. The whole game looks like it's being played on a Nintendo Virtual Boy, and while that's kind of a vibe, it's not exactly the ideal way to play the game. Still, it's one step forward to making the Bloodborne on PC dream real, even if it isn't in the way most people would have expected or hoped it would. 12. Belle and Wise’s thrilling gig as Proxies navigating the Hollows often takes a ********* to their less glamorous side hustle: Running the Random Play video club in Zenless Zone Zero. Zenless Zone Zero mainly revolves around assembling a team of badass Agents to crush Ethereal enemies. The combat is lightning-fast, the puzzles are mind-bending, and the gacha mechanic makes blowing Encrypted Master Tapes on five-star characters utterly irresistible. Typical Hoyoverse antics, right? But ZZZ throws a curveball and has you moonlighting as a part-time Blockbuster employee. You’ll quickly find out that managing Random Play isn’t a walk in the park. View the full article

  14. Have I ever bellowed breathlessly about how much I appreciate modders? If I’ve done it a thousand times, it still isn’t enough. Today’s saintly file tinkerers are MerseyRockoff and glassfish77, who’ve restored a series of boat racing quests in open world RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and made them available in a mod for your sailing pleasure. Cheers, PC Gamer! Read more View the full article
  15. I completely over-complicated today’s NYT Mini Crossword. I couldn’t get my head around the “place for a blowout” clue until it hit me—it was obvious. “Blowout” has several meanings depending on where you come from. My first instinct was some sort of ********** or argument, but where does that occur? In reality, the answer was a lot more straightforward. View the full article
  16. On June 25, Counter-Strike 2 was updated with a few new maps for specific game modes, including Assembly and Memento for the Wingman mode. It turns out one of the new maps has a serious issue. CS2 player /u/theRealFakez shared a clip on the CS2 subeddit on July 7 showing them being shot through a wall on Memento. Understandably, the player was frustrated and wanted to know how on earth it was possible. View the full article

  20. From the moment of its reveal, many players’ feelings on The First Descendant were that it’s a hodgepodge of mechanics, ideas, systems, structures and designs found in other popular live service loot shooters. It wasn’t until everyone actually started playing that those feelings were pretty much confirmed. We called out its lack of originality when Connor and I played it over a year ago, but now that it’s in the hands of millions of players, many more cracks are starting to show. 23. Aside from the Prismatic subclass, The Final Shape added one new Light super for each class in Destiny 2, and one of them is already dominating PvP. In The Final Shape, Hunters got a Storm’s Edge super that lets them blink from point A to point B and damage the enemies around them in a split second, up to three times. While Storm’s Edge is average in PvE, it leaves no-one standing in PvP and can easily one-shot Guardians. On June 5, Destiny 2 players on Reddit agreed the super needs to be “neutered.” View the full article
  24. You're all probably quite desperate to smooch Baldur's Gate 3's Astarion in Stardew Valley, and hopefully by the end of the year you'll be able to. Back in April, a small group of modders revealed that they're working on a mod for Stardew Valley all about last year's biggest game, Baldur's Gate 3. Planned characters included fan favourites like Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale and Halsin, with only the first and last characters listed there being romanceable. However, XunHe1145, one of the modders on the project, shared an update over the weekend that detailed when you can potentially expect the first part to be released, and some other new additions to it. "Although the release date has not been decided, there is a high probability that the first part will be released this fall or winter," wrote XunHe1145. That'll obviously be exciting for the venn diagram of Stardew Valley and Baldur's Gate 3 fans, but it wasn't the only update offered about the mod. For one, there's some new stores, one of which is a restaurant managed by Rolan - or, well, more specifically, Rolan's Projection, similar to how the Projection serves you in Sorcerous Sundries. Rolan does appear himself, and he's not a marriable NPC, but he will appear occasionally on the map. The update also offered a reminder that only Astarion and Halsin are available for marriage, but once the first part of the mod is out, those that support the team's Patreon will be able to vote on who can be married next. 25. You can now control the ROG lighting in Windows. | Photo by Tom Warren / The Verge Asus is planning to support Microsoft’s new Dynamic Lighting feature that allows Windows 11 users to control a motherboard’s RGB lighting without needing a separate app. Asus has started testing new beta BIOS updates for both of its AMD 600 and Intel 700 series motherboards that include the Dynamic Lighting support. Microsoft added Dynamic Lighting to Windows 11 in September, providing native RGB lighting controls inside Windows for the very first time. The feature lets users control RGB lights using the open HID LampArray standard, and manufacturers like Acer, Asus, HP, HyperX, Logitech, Razer, and Twinkly have all partnered with Microsoft to support this. The Dynamic Lighting support on Asus’ latest motherboards requires a BIOS update... Continue reading… View the full article
