  1. It's no secret that The Sims 4 still has a lot of missing mechanics even almost a decade into its lifespan, but there's one frequently-asked-for feature that should be much lower down on a list of requests than it seems to be for many players. Even with years of significant additions through both DLC and free updates, there are undoubtedly still many areas in which the title could improve. However, I cannot take much more of the constant clamoring for cars in The Sims 4 when there are so many other issues that need attention. View the full article

  3. Expansion-sized Fallout 4 mod Fallout London appears to be nearing release after developer Team FOLON declared "the end is in sight" as it awaits final quality assurance tests. In a post on X/Twitter, Team FOLON sought to clear up speculation by confirming it had sent "several builds" to CD Projekt Red-owned Steam competitor GOG and is awaiting the "final green light." "Once they've completed the process of double checking that Fallout: London and its installer work on all supported machines, we should be good to go," Team FOLON said. "Yes, we have our own installer, and downgrader too. [Hidden Content] — Team FOLON (@TeamFOLON) July 6, 2024 "It is in all of our interests that this final QA process is carried out in full, and we are very thankful that GOG is assisting. While it may seem like not a lot is going on, we can assure you that the heads of the department have been working non-stop behind the scenes during this time to make the release build as good as it can be. The end is in sight." Fallout: London was previously due to arrive on April 23, 2024 but actual Fallout developer Bethesda announced a surprise update for Fallout 4, which the mod developer feared would impact its release. "We've just been tweaking and testing non-stop in order to get things as stable as we can for you all in time for that release," said Team FOLON project lead Dean Carter at the time. "But with the new update dropping just 48 hours later, the past four years of our work stand to just simply break." The end is in sight. Carter later lamented how Bethesda, which has made clear it's aware of Fallout: London, ******* to inform Team FOLON of its plans. "That has, for lack of a better term, sort of screwed us over, somewhat,” Carter said. Fallout London is one of the most high-profile mods in development and will let players explore a post-apocalyptic version of the English capital. Players will engage with everything from “stuffy parliamentary aristocrats to a resurrection of the Knights of the Round Table to an uncompromising cult of revolutionaries." It even stars Baldur's Gate 3's Astarion actor Neil Newbon. Bethesda development chief Todd Howard has confirmed Fallout 5 will arrive after the Elder Scrolls 6, which is still years away itself, but it continues to update MMO Fallout 76. Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article

  5. Another year, another huge amount raised for charity by obscenely skilled gamers. Popular speedrunning event Summer Games Done Quick took place last week and raised more than $2.5 million for Doctors Without Borders, fielding runners who took on a mix of modern and retro games with various quirky goals or challenging requirements. Like an attempt at getting through Sekiro: Shadows **** Twice without being hit (oh ****) and a hasty anti-gravitational swim through the solar system of Outer Wilds but without using the game's spaceship (what). Let us be glad these folks use their powers for good. Read more View the full article

  7. A new report claims that assets in breakout Steam FPS The First Descendant are "barely changed" recreations of ones that are included in Bungie's Destiny 2. 12. The League of Legends meta currently favors Corki and Tristana in the mid lane for various reasons, but one of the main developers, Riot Games’ August, thinks the game isn’t in a great spot as a result. The developer regularly streams on Twitch and did so on June 6, where he dove into the details about the current state of League. The main topic of discussion was the Tristana and Corki mid lane meta. August believes the two champions will likely be nerfed, but it might not solve the problem. View the full article
  13. Time hopping in Berlin usually means queuing several hours for a club, only to magically find yourself either right back at the end of the line, or else waking up on the U-Bahn three days later with tinnitus and currywurst spilled down your Acronym jacket. Not so in cyberpunk tactics game All Walls Must Fall. Here time travel means dodging bullets, reversing flubbed hacking, and replaying that conversation you had with the bouncer that got you booted to the curb. “A ******* good time-troubling tactical shooter,” decreed Adam Smith (RPS in Peace) in his review. 15. Progressing through the ongoing Festival of Football seasonal ladder in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team presents you with a difficult choice. Should you pick Toni Kroos End of an Era or Steven Gerrard GOTG Icon as your reward? It’s not as tough a choice as you might think. Reaching the final stages of the EA FC 24 Season 7 progression ladder nets you some very nice rewards and gives you some choices to make. The 35 levels of progression involve several decisions on the player’s behalf. Most involve a straightforward pick between a specific card or a pack, where you decide whether you want to test your luck or take the guaranteed reward. The only exception to this rule is at level 34. View the full article
  16. Zenless Zone Zero has been out for just under a week, and already we've seen numerous players take to training mode and try out various interesting routes for lush looking combos. One such player, Midrush on Twitter, posted a video to the social media platform explaining the game's juggle system and the importance of dash-canceling and tagging members of your squad in. The combonation of all three allow for some pretty awesome looking clips. Then you've got players like Zettaslow, who have taken their understanding of characters like Lucy and Anby online to present a rad combo that makes good use of both fighter's kits. It's clear that there is some sauce in Zenless Zone Zero for those willing to figure it all out, as evident by the budding community of combo-heads flocking to the game and posting their findings on Twitter. This is cool on its own, but the more interesting topic is why others are bouncing off the game while this is present. The answer may be twofold: the effectiveness of simply mashing through much of the game, and characters (as well as the assets they bring to combo potential) being locked behind the gacha. 17. 19. With Kingdom Hearts 4 MIA, Disney Pixel RPG, a new mobile gacha game featuring Mickey Mouse and more, is here to tide you over. It's been over two years since we last heard anything about Kingdom Hearts 4, so the venn diagram of Disney and video game fans are probably feeling quite lacking on that front at the moment. Lucky for you, Disney Pixel RPG has just been announced, a game which pretty much explains itself on the tin, but I'll still give you the run down anyway. Available on mobile devices, Disney Pixel RPG is an "RPG where you go on adventures with pixel art versions of Disney characters" which includes classics like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, as well as others such as Maleficent, Winnie the Pooh, Baymax, Stitch, and more. According to the game's description on its store page, the story sees "the game worlds that the Disney characters call home" suddenly "invaded by strange programs, resulting in chaos. Previously isolated game worlds have become connected... causing unexpected encounters between characters and throwing them into confusion." I don't know about you, but that's sounding a lot like Kingdom Hearts if you ask me. It's got to be a matter of time before they add in Sora as a banner character, no? Read more View the full article
  20. Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian is pulling together its leads for a big summit "to discuss lift off", we assume on the studio's next couple of games. Where? Well in the same place it met to decide how to finish off BG3, because revisiting the same location a bunch of times in order to grind XP, find stuff you missed, or just admire the scenery again is something RPG folks are just hardwired to do. Yup, while it's still working on some Baldur's Gate 3-related stuff ahead of Patch 7's arrival with some fresh endings and official modding support in September, Larian's also been busy teasing and putting stuff in place for its future projects. The latest of these teases is a tweet (thanks, GamesRadar) from head honcho Swen Vincke, who was up nice and early this morning sharing a picture of the meeting room his studio's staff will be filing into today to- depending on your interpretation - talk about either rockets or video games. 22. Hi-Rez Studios has pulled all Dr Disrespect content from Rogue Company after the streamer was alleged to have sent ********* explicit messages to a minor. Guy Beahm, better known as Dr Disrespect, was banned from Twitch in 2020 without explanation. Last month, following a number of reports, Beahm admitted he exchanged messages in 2017 with a minor via Twitch's now-defunct Whispers feature that "sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate." Subsequent reports alleged the minor had informed Beahm they were underage, and Beahm continued to send "********* graphic" messages to them regardless. Twitch and Beahm have not responded to IGN's request for comment. Partners and sponsors like Turtle Beach, 2K, and the San Francisco 49ers subsequently cut ties with the streamer. Midnight Society, the game studio Beahm co-founded, also terminated its relationship with him, and monetization on his YouTube channel was suspended. Now, another video game Beahm was affiliated with has taken steps to distance itself from the streamer. Beahm had partnered with Rogue Company publisher Hi-Rez Studios, which is also behind Smite and Paladins, to design his own level and even a $20 character skin sold in the free-to-play third-person tactical action shooter. That premium content is no longer in the game. A statement published to the official Rogue Company X/Twitter account has signaled the change: “Hey Rogue Company, we have disabled Dr Disrespect content previously available on game. We will provide full Rogue Buck refunds to any impacted account this week.” In recent years interest in Rogue Company has dropped off significantly. After a Steam peak concurrent player count of 12,189 set three years ago, Rogue Company now averages just a few hundred players on Steam’s platform, with 236 concurrent players at the time of this article’s publication. Indeed, Rogue Company hasn’t seen a major update since 2023, indicating a deprioritization from Hi-Rez Studios amid the upcoming launch of Smite 2. It’s fair to say that the decision to offer Rogue Buck refunds as opposed to real-money refunds for the Dr Disrespect content has sparked a backlash from paying customers who would rather their money back than a virtual currency they deem to be practically useless. Some have taken to Rogue Company’s Steam user reviews, which are down to ‘mixed’ for recent reviews, to complain about the situation. “Where’s my $40? I have no need for Rogue Bucks when you guys haven’t updated the game in over a year,” said one person. “How about since we paid with real money you provide real money refunds?” said another. Meanwhile, Beahm hasn't issued a comment since his last stream, in which he played Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, almost two weeks ago. Image credit reddit / rescobar1997. 24. Manor Lords publisher Hooded Horse has responded to some of the recent criticism over the game's perceived lack of updates by labeling it as "distorted," among other unflattering descriptors. The move also prompted some fan backlash against Raphael van Lierop, the chief creative officer at The Long Dark developer Hinterland, who was the one who originally bemoaned Manor Lords' update frequency.
