The upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition could be much smaller than the RTX 4090, with a cooler that's just two PCI-E slots wide, according to a new rumor. That compares to three slots wide for the current RTX 4090 FE and even wider for some other RTX 4090 variants. If this latest Nvidia rumor proves to be true it would give one more very compelling reason for the RTX 5090 to sit unchallenged at the top of our best graphics card guide. After all, it's expected to be the fastest card ever when it launches, with AMD not expected to release a Radeon RX 8000 card to compete at this high end of the market. Read the rest of the story... Multiversus, the long-anticipated Warner Bros. fighting game that had an initial moment of popularity back in 2022, has now launched in full, and players are coming back in droves. Last year, the Multiversus developers made a controversial move when they took the game out of Early Access and shut down its servers to the public, instead making a conscious effort to finalize the development process before its relaunch. Many members of the game’s early player base found this decision to be isolationist, especially in light of the game being a for-purchase product that effectively left players with a ****** ***** in their Steam libraries. Cyberpunk 2077 will get the long promised FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3) support at some point, developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed. Speaking to IGN, the developer confirmed FSR3 — the latest iteration of AMD's supersampling technology which increases the frame rate of a game — would still be released despite announcing it no longer had a dedicated Cyberpunk 2077 team. "We are still working on the FSR3 support for Cyberpunk 2077, but I do not have an update on its availability just yet," a CD Projekt Red spokesperson told IGN. "We are still working on the FSR3 support for Cyberpunk 2077. Fans were left questioning whether the promised update would ever arrive after the developer told investors its Cyberpunk 2077 team had been migrated elsewhere following the release of what was assumed to be the final update in version 2.12. "AMD's FSR3 was supposed to be coming to Cyberpunk 2077, but it seems like that was cancelled given that no developers are working on Cyberpunk 2077," one Reddit user commented in a post discussing the development shift. Some internet sleuths spotted a change to the game's backend on PC platform Steam, however, which indicates that another update might be on the way. "Not sure if they decided to scrap the FSR3 update or not but I feel like there will be one (small) final patch, considering the internal QA branch was updated six hours ago for the first time since the last update released," wrote Apoqsi on X/Twitter. This certainly seems to be the case, even if the update only arrives for the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077. FSR3 was similarly added to the likes of Immortals of Aveum and Starfield, letting PC players get the most of their high-end rigs. CD Projekt Red wound down the development of Cyberpunk 2077 after the release of its first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, in September 2023. It came after the game-changing Update 2.0, which completely revamped Cyberpunk 2077 with features such as a new perk system and improved AI, and was followed by another big update in 2.1 but only minor changes afterwards. Patch 2.11 addressed myriad bugs and balance issues in the open-world role-playing game, while 2.12 applied what was thought to be a final layer of polish. CD Projekt Red is now looking firmly forward towards Cyberpunk 2077's sequel, codenamed Orion, and its myriad incoming Witcher games, though not without releasing this FSR 3 update eventually. In our 9/10 review, IGN said: "Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into a beautiful, dense cityscape and offers a staggering amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it from there." Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article

My Deer Friend Nokotan looks like an anime you would think your friend is making up just to tease you, but it is very real, and very wild looking. How do I explain My Deer Friend Nokotan? Hmm… well, it's about a high schooler. Who is a deer-human hybrid? And there's a school club that wants to eradicate her I guess? Also there are just JPEGs of real deer sometimes, CGI models other times, explosions, oh and a catchy anime as ***** theme song. I don't think that really captures it, but you can check out the trailer for yourself below. It's a little bit Pop Team Epic, a little bit Nichijou, but without any concept that it's possible to hold back when it comes to the zaniness of it all. The official synopsis of the show describes the show with a bit more detail: "Koshi Torako, a high schooler, one day feels something cold hit her face. Looking up, she spots a girl stuck, her antlers tangled in power lines. Helping Shikanoko, antlered and peculiar, turns Torako's life, a model student by appearance only, upside down. Thus begins a tale of a girl (once a delinquent) and another (a deer?), in this Girl Meets Deer adventure!" I don't know if that helps all that much, but hey, when you're in for a ride like this one, you might as well just buckle up and roll with it. Read more View the full article
Zotac is the latest name to throw its hat into the ring with a Steam Deck competitor. While the early details are incredibly thin, we do know that the new Zotac Zone will sport a 7-inch AMOLED display, which might turn some heads given that only one other PC gaming handheld can boast such quality. While the Steam Deck is the best handheld gaming PC, Zotac must believe it has the plan to try and make a splash in a booming market. Revealing an AMOLED display right away already shows it has something the ROG Ally, Legion Go, and MSI Claw don't. Read the rest of the story... Image: Activision Activision notched a second victory in an ongoing legal case against EngineOwning, a cheat maker that the company sued in 2022. In addition, the judge ordered EngineOwning to turn over its website, stop making and selling cheats, and pay $292,912 in attorney fees to Activision. You can find a PDF of the ruling here. Many moons ago, premiere wordsman Nate Crowley reviewed shark ‘em up Maneater, decrying its incurious perpetuation of anti-shark ***********, and calling it “an ecstatically violent simulation of being a fool's idea of a shark.” My own frothing penchant for the plan-schemes of Warhammer’s Skaven ratboys has been documented in these pages to the point of rabidity, but I do feel broadly similarly about media that sullies rats - clean, smart and good folk that they are. MultiVersus has finally launched fully after the open beta (which many didn't realize was an open beta) shut down in June 2023, and while its return has attracted more than 100,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, it's also sparked many complaints. Data from player-tracking website SteamDB shows MultiVersus — the Warner Bros. brawler where Gizmo from Gremlins, Rick and Morty, Lebron James, Batman, Arya Stark, Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, Tom and Jerry, Jason, and more can all ****** — hit a 24 hour peak of 114,515 concurrent players upon its May 28, 2024 launch day. It's a strong start for the free-to-play brawler on PC (Sony and Microsoft do not publish player numbers for PlayStation and Xbox.) Not everyone is happy with the changes developer Player First Games made during the hiatus, however, and MultiVersus has dropped to an overall "Mixed" perception on Steam as a result of negative reviews. Changes to mechanics, the removal of certain features, and intrinsic monetization headline the complaints, with some fans even saying this final version of MultiVersus "feels more like a beta than the beta." "They’ve taken away more features than they’ve added. "They’ve taken away more features than they’ve added. The camera being zoomed and team ****** options removed is pretty crazy in my opinion, on top of a list of other really important changes like locking characters even in practice range," Reddit user Radbrad4333 wrote. "When Marvel Rivals is in a playtest alpha and can launch with a competitive mode, built in tournament system, and relatively well-balanced characters, and this game launches like this after nearly half a year of public playtesting... I don’t get it. They were supposed to learn lessons in the beta and I know it’s early, but after playing most of today, this feels like a miss." MultiVersus was originally released in July 2022 but many didn't realize its status as an open beta due to its battle pass and other microtransactions, additional downloadable characters, and so on. After the game's numbers had dwindled to under 1,000 concurrent players on Steam, Player First Games announced the beta would come to an end in June 2023. "Throughout our open beta, we’ve been working hard to build the best gameplay experience, and we appreciate all of the inspiration you’ve given us," co-founder and game director Tony Huynh said at the time. "Our open beta has been an important learning opportunity for us and a stepping stone to the next phase of MultiVersus." But as noted by myriad players online, the full version of MultiVersus is lacking several features the beta did. "Let's give it up for Warner Bros. and Player First Games for ******** the offline scene by removing the complete offline roster," Doinky420 said on Reddit. "Other honorable mentions go to not being able to test characters before buying them and removing options that people built muscle memory with." Another post from sloppybuttons lists "everything that changed for the worse from the beta *******", which includes battle changes like no leaderboards or after battle report, and mode changes like the removal of cooperative battles against AI and no free for all mode with items. It also points to more loading screens, removed input options, and more. "Let's give it up for Warner Bros. and Player First Games for ******** the offline scene by removing the complete offline roster. Players are otherwise frustrated with the economy in this version of MultiVersus. While it's a free-to-play game (with the likes of a battle pass and other microtransactions that let players buy skins and new characters), many players are complaining about major changes to how monetization works. A cheaper tier of characters available for 1,500 Fighter Currency (one of the in-game currencies) are no longer available, with every character now costing between 3,000 and 6,000 each, or with 1,000 to 1,250 Gleamium (the main premium currency bought with real money). The cheapest players can buy Gleamium is in a pack of 450 for $4.99 while its most expensive and best value pack comes with 6,000 and costs $49.99. These bundles have specifically caused frustration too, as an uncommon skin costs 500 Gleamium, meaning the cheapest $4.99 bundle doesn't quite grant players enough to buy one. This is a common technique used to keep players spending. "Scummy as *****," wrote IWantTheDomoHat. "No one wants to spend $10 for what should be a $5 skin. Please change it to 500 Gleamium. I think I can speak on the behalf of everyone that this is absurd." Only five characters are available for free at launch too, and the rest of roster must be unlocked with Fighter Currency, which is earned through completing missions, seasonal events, single-player mode Rifts, and the battle pass, or with Gleamium. Players who want the full roster immediately must therefore pay, using the cheapest options available, $155. This will give players access to every character, but not the extensive collection of skins, announcer packs, animated ringouts, profile icons, and so on, which are all available at an additional cost. A bundle which includes one skin, stance, emotes, voice over, and a ringout for Shaggy is currently available on ***** for 2,444 Gleamium instead of 3,325. Players purchasing the $20 Gleamium pack will, again, find themselves just short of that amount with 2,200 total. This pack is on the cheaper end of the many on offer too, with others costing as much as 3,390 Gleamium on ***** or 4,525 usually. This one includes a banner on top of what's included in the Shaggy bundle, and would cost players $35 at its discounted price or $45 usually. "I think I can speak on the behalf of everyone that this is absurd. "They spent a year making literally everything gameplay wise worse and on implementing f**king currencies, stories, FOMO, and mobile game level grind gems for player versus everyone upgrades," wrote Patrick on Steam. "So much potential wasted due to baffling decisions and corporate greed," wrote another user. "They locked the ability to test out characters and skins in practice, removed our universal currency of Gold and replaced it with three different [mobile game] bulls**t currencies, including 'prestige' which is basically a VIP system. Pay more money, get more prestige currency, use prestige currency to unlock the most wanted cosmetics." MultiVersus still pulled in a good number of players despite these complaints, but Player First Games knows from experience that number can quickly fall. Fans are therefore hoping it moves to address the community's complaints quickly. Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article

The first Moana 2 teaser trailer is here, and it looks pretty enough but… well, it doesn't really tell us much about what's going on. It's been almost eight whole years since the first Moana released, and the first trailer for its sequel (quite simply titled Moana 2) is here to offer a first look at the upcoming Disney film. The Rock, Maui himself, was kind enough to share the trailer on his own personal YouTube channel (an odd marketing tactic that personalities like him and Ryan Reynolds appear to have adopted in recent years), and to be honest, it doesn't really point towards what the film will be like. Sure, it's a teaser trailer, but mostly it's just moody, nicely lit shots of Moana in different places not doing all that much, which I'm assuming won't be the whole thing. An official synopsis does tell us a bit more though: "Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced." David G. Derrick Jr., who's worked as a storyboard artist on films like Megamind, Rise of the Guardians, and the first Moana, is making his feature length directorial debut with this one.
