  1. The release date of Dragon Age: The Veilguard appears to have leaked online ahead of the official reveal scheduled for later today. If the date that’s appeared online is accurate, you may well want to cancel any plans you had to go out trick or treating. Veilguard has, up until this point, only been pencilled in for Fall 2024. Naturally, this has prompted plenty of speculation as to the actual date, with EA financials having recently suggested that the game wouldn’t be arriving prior to October 1. Now, a short video, which appears to be an advertisement of some kind based on its very snappy runtime, has popped up online, citing the game’s release date as being October 31. 2. There's a time and place for elaborate experiences, for *****-********* moments that evoke the entire gamut of human life. If your tastes run to the latter then may I present to you the fine, gory meal of Mullet **** Jack, a roguelike FPS that's loved by those who've played it. Read the rest of the story... 6. Steam’s seeing a good few sweeping changes of late. They’ve recently added a ‘Trending Free’ tab to separate the no money down and no, money down playables. And, as of September, they’re cracking down on links to other websites in store pages. Now, horror of horrors, they’re coming for your ascii gigachads and “nobody is going to read this review so I’ll just say I’m gay” bangers. The changes are part of their ‘New Helpfulness System’, outlined here. The new system, which will be enabled by default but can be toggled off, aims to “help potential players make informed decisions about the games they are considering purchasing by understanding the attributes of the game that other players like or don't like.” Ah, so a sort of ‘review’, if you will. I like it! Read more View the full article

  11. I was half expecting another elemental-themed LoLdle today after so many, so I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong—this quote instead focuses on a swindling League of Legends champion who always plays with a full deck. Who says, “Only two Jokers in the deck, and I get dealt you” in LoL? The LoLdle quote on Aug. 15 is, “Only two Jokers in the deck, and I get dealt you.” The League champion who says this line is Twisted Fate. 12. Valve’s MOBA shooter Deadlock isn’t the only game capturing attention on PC this week, with thousands of players piling into Spectre Divide‘s early access. The shooter, developed by Mountaintop Games in partnership with Shroud, is looking to freshen up the FPS genre—and isn’t holding back early. A little over 10,000 players hit the Spectre Divide servers today alone, according to stats site SteamDB; the highest count since 15,979 graced the first playtest two weeks ago. The player base fluctuates heavily, but early signs are great for the new shooter and with the weekend approaching, we’re likely going to see that 15,000-mark broken again very soon. The Pokémon World Championships 2024 is underway in Honolulu, Hawaii, and like with previous years, it sports an exclusive pop-up Pokémon Center store filled to the brim with items that can only be bought for attendees and locals. Hawaii isn’t exactly a local or affordable place for many people to head to, so not many folks will ever see inside this particular Pokémon Center, let alone enjoy many of the experiences on offer from Aug. 16. So, we thought we’d give you a sneak peek. View the full article

  18. There’s nothing like jumping into an hour-long Grandmaster Nightfall or ********* raid in Destiny 2 only to suffer through ridiculous packet loss, frustrating glitches, and then a kick to the main menu and a cheeky error code. This time, we’re looking into the BEE error code. Encountering this constant error can be as annoying as the insect itself sometimes. 19. I enjoy a good challenge, but today’s NYT crossword puzzle feels impossible to solve because you only have one clue to solve two separate clues—this is another joined clue. “With Six-Across, ‘Let me start by saying …'” is one of the clues from the NYT’s Aug. 15 Mini Crossword puzzle, and it goes with six-across, “See one across.” If you’re stuck, you’re in the right place as I have the answers to both of these clues below. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out for more than a year, but apparently even its massive player base hasn’t found all the secrets, with fans only this week uncovering a Lae’zel ending so rare no one has unlocked in while playing. In this ending, Lae’zel ******** herself and doesn’t become a Mind Flayer. However, because she didn’t ***** Orpheus, Vlaakith refuses to let her ascended and then dooms her to be hunted for eternity; in response to this cruel damning, Lae’zel ends her own life. Each has a unique playstyle, with players making loadouts with weapons, equipment, and attachments. View the full article
  22. If things go according to schedule, we'll be playing Oblivion remade in Skyrim next year. The latest trailer for the Skyblivion project shows it looking pretty smooth (apart from one discolored face and a horse walking while going nowhere), highlighting two quests in and around the town of Chorrol. Chorrol itself looks lush and colorful, with some real pretty windmills on the outskirts and an impressive fountain outside the Mages Guild. Everything is so nice to look at that it makes the blandness of the actual quests in this quest showcase stand out... Read more.View the full article

I'm tracking a ton of discounts on quality RPG titles, many of them are Bethesda-produced, but there are also some AAAs from other outfits that were released quite recently. Anyway, enough talk. 24. Valve will now be keeping a close eye on those who use SnapTap in Counter-Strike 2 after an update for the shooter went live today. For those currently giving the controversial feature a go in CS2, ***** not—Valve isn’t dishing out bans yet. Today’s CS2 update includes several map changes and other miscellaneous bugfixes as well as an important change to tagging effects, but interest was piqued after a discovery was made by dataminer Gabe Follower on X (formerly Twitter). Valve’s added a few strings to the backend containing SnapTap, specifically “SnapTapStats” and “SnapTapDetection,” likely to begin tracking those who use the keyboard feature. View the full article
