  1. Last season Destiny 2 introduced a new kind of hand cannon: Warden’s Law was a kinetic heavy burst frame, which meant that it fired two quick shots in a row. It was weird, it was new, people tried out all sorts of combinations, but eventually it found its main use in combination with the hunter exotic Lucky Pants. Now there are two new guns in this category, one of which is Bold Endings, a craftable stasis variant. Is it an easily obtained replacement for Warden’s Law? Not really, but it does some things Warden’s Law never could... Read more.View the full article
  2. You know Nintendo, and how one of its cornerstone characters is Donkey Kong, who's starred in the DK rap in addition to some vido game? Well, it turns out that a bunch of names were proposed for him before the company settled on the iconic monkey moniker we all know him by. One of these was "Kong *****". Stop laughing, this is a serious matter. A poor video game character could have ended up having to go by that for its entire virtual life. Millions of young people could have grown up talking openly about their love of *****, creating millions of hilariously awkward scenarios for their already depressed and overworked parents to try and diffuse out of a desperate ***** their their spawn might be bullied for the heinous act of saying something that sounds interesting. Actually, I've come around on it. They should have called him Kong *****. Where did this ***** revelation come from? Well, some old court documents from the 80s originally uncovered by gaming historian Norman Caruso back in 2020, which are now experiencing a resurgence in attention (thanks, Eurogamer), because, well, people like *********** at the word *****. 3. One of the ultimate overall gaming monitor combos right now is an ultrawide, 34-inch, WQHD OLED with a fast refresh rate, and that's exactly what you get in this amazing Samsung OLED gaming monitor deal right now. With a saving 33% off its original asking price, this display gets you stunning image quality, fantastic gaming performance, and an ideal screen size. We've been more and more impressed by Samsung's QD-OLED gaming monitors recently, with its G95SC - the 49-inch ******* brother to this display - being our pick for the best gaming monitor overall right now. However, the size of this 34-inch monitor offers just the right balance, being big enough and wide enough to make games and movies look amazing, but without being too enormous. 4. It can be hard to find a PC gaming graphics card at a low price these days, but however low your budget is, we thoroughly recommend staying away from the new Asus Radeon RX 6500 XT Dual OC V2 that's just come out. Not only is it based on a GPU that's now two and half years old, but this GPU stank even back then. Asus makes some of the best graphics cards you can buy right now, and I particularly like the quiet and powerful coolers on its latest ROG Strix cards, even if they're a bit overpriced. A graphics card is only as good as the GPU under its cooler, though, and while AMD makes some decent GPUs, the Radeon RX 6500 XT is definitely not one of them. Read the rest of the story... 5. Van Helsing lives again as a TV series in development at CBS, but the premise isn't what we were expecting. Deadline dropped the news on June 26, stating that Jonathan Lee, the man behind Netflix and BBC's upcoming drama series Lockerbie, is writing the show, which is reworking the famous character into a modern-day investigator. According to Deadline and the logline that was shared, the new series is "a contemporary take on the monster hunter Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, who uses his uniquely inquisitive mind working alongside his ex, relentless FBI special agent Mina Harker, to solve New York City's most harrowing cases." Though we've yet to learn what those "harrowing cases" might be, this already sounds quite a bit like a riff on The X-Files' format, which is always very welcome. Read more View the full article

  8. NICKMERCS took to Twitch on June 27, 2024, to address the ongoing controversy surrounding Dr Disrespect, aiming to clarify that his relationship with Dr Disrespect was not as close as many thought. Dr Disrespect, a high-profile creator who was mysteriously banned from Twitch in 2020, is once again at the center of controversy. 10. Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree is off to a flying start, selling five million copies in just three days. “This milestone is the result of the tremendous support from fans all over the world, to whom we express our heartfelt gratitude,” publisher Bandai Namco said in a note to press. Shadow of the Erdtree launched across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S on Friday June 20. Bandai Namco had expressed confidence in Shadow of the Erdtree’s sales ahead of launch despite the fact two bosses, including a tough optional boss many players might have missed, must be defeated before the expansion can be accessed. Steam achievement data showed nearly two thirds of Elden Ring PC players had yet to defeat this boss going into the release of Shadow of the Erdtree. (If you’re still hoping to play, check out IGN’s guide on How to Prepare for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.) Many would assume this to be an issue for developer FromSoftware and Bandai Namco, given the game itself is essentially stopping more than half its player base from accessing the DLC and therefore wanting to spend more money. But Bandai Namco Europe's chief marketing and sales officer Anthony Macare told [Hidden Content] that Elden Ring sold so many copies that it doesn't matter. "That statistic does present a unique challenge," he said. "However, with over 25 million units sold, even a fraction of our player base constitutes a substantial audience. Our marketing efforts have been tailored to engage this significant segment effectively." Five million sales after just three days on ***** is an incredible result for Shadow of the Erdtree, and suggests an impressive 20% of Elden Ring base game owners paid another $40 for the DLC. Sales will surely increase over time, as Elden Ring's did over the course of 2022 and 2023. After an initial ‘mixed’ Steam user review rating for Shadow of the Erdtree, sparked by a feeling its bosses are too hard as well as performance problems, the DLC is now up to ‘mostly positive.’ Shadow of the Erdtree has certainly enjoyed critical acclaim, and has become the highest-rated video game expansion of all-time by overtaking Witcher 3 DLC Blood and Wine on Metacritic. IGN’s Shadow of the Erdtree review returned a 10/10. We said: “Like the base game did before it, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree raises the bar for single-player DLC expansions. It takes everything that made the base game such a landmark RPG, condenses it into a relatively compact 20-25 hour campaign, and provides fantastic new challenges for heavily invested fans to chew on.” Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. 11. FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed that he would be open to an adaptation of the studio’****** 2022 RPG Elden Ring, but only if a “very strong partner” were to come into play. “I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example,” explained Miyazaki in an interview with The Guardian. “But I don’t think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium.” Elden Ring was designed by FromSoftware to be a profoundly challenging experience, and it is likely that any attempt to translate the mystery-laden fantasy world into another format altogether would prove to be equally difficult to ********. After all, Elden Ring’s history and lore — much like that of most other Miyazaki-directed games — is fractured and obfuscated by intent, with hints as to its true nature often found only in the descriptions of obscure items, or through conversation with NPCs. This works in a video game, where players are at liberty to explore and seek out answers organically, but could prove difficult to parse in another artistic medium lacking a similar level of agency. That said, Elden Ring has an incredibly rich setting that Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin himself had a hand in creating, so there’s plenty of lore for a determined partner to explore should they gain Miyazaki’s trust, and according to the FromSoftware president, there is interest in doing so. “So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play,” continued Miyazaki. “We’d have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest, for sure.” The FromSoftware president didn’t specify exactly what this “interest” entailed, though his example of a potential movie adaptation wouldn't be far-fetched considering the current enthusiasm surrounding video game films and TV shows, many of which are set to light up our screens in the coming years. 16. While we eagerly await Star Wars Outlaws, Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr are taking us back to an earlier version of the galaxy far, far away's ********* underworld with a remaster of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, starring Jango Fett. The reveal trailer, which came out of nowhere, doesn't do a whole lot of explaining what's actually new in this new release of the often overlooked GameCube and PS2 original, but the official PlayStation blog has all the deets, at least when it comes to the PlayStation versions. It's launching on PS5/4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on August 1. Star Wars fans who have been paying attention to the retro releases over the years (which have been abundant ever since Disney took over George Lucas' empire) know a pretty solid PS3/4 'classic' release has been available for a long time. In fact, it even has trophy support. Aspyr's release, however, is a remaster with platform-specific features, more achievements, and even restored cut content. Read more View the full article

  20. Duplicating Remembrances in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree can be a vital part of your gameplay experience if you are looking toward optimizing your build or collecting all the possible weapons and spells available in the DLC.
