  2. Paradox Games and Haemimont Games recently released Surviving Mars Relaunched to largely middling Steam reviews, maintaining a worrying trend of titles from the publishing giant behind many of the best strategy games not quite hitting like they used to. Worse yet, the release of this remaster treads another fine line - scrubbing the original version of a product in favor of a new edition that some are finding to be virtually identical in the worst ways. 4. One day after its 1.0 and Steam release, Escape From Tarkov is already being review-bombed. However, despite Escape From Tarkov's Steam review rating tanking right now, it doesn't seem to have all that much to do with the quality of the game itself. View the full article
  5. For almost ten years now, Battlestate Games has toiled away on Escape From Tarkov with the help of its community. The hardcore, realistic survival FPS game birthed the extraction shooter genre, paving the way for the likes of Hunt Showdown, Arena Breakout Infinite, and Arc Raiders. This weekend, it finally reaches 1.0, providing players with an actual way to, well, escape from Tarkov. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we've teamed up with Battlestate to give away ten codes for EFT so you can dive in for free. Read the rest of the story... 9. I'm always taken by surprise when Garry's Mod receives a new update. Since it came out when I was still a teenager, I just assume it's ancient history. Yet in reality, Facepunch's anarchic toolbox remains very much a going concern. With over 22,000 players in the last 24 hours, Garry's Mod is the 62 nd most popular game on Steam by daily active users (according to SteamDB). That makes it more popular than Monster Hunter Wilds and Elden Ring Nightreign—at least as far as Steam is concerned... Read more.View the full article

  11. The producer of Resident Evil Requiem says the game has retained some elements from its original concept as an online multiplayer title. The ninth main game in the Resident Evil series was originally conceived as an online open-world multiplayer game, before it was decided to scrap this idea and deliver a traditional single-player Resident Evil adventure. However, in an interview with Press Start Australia, producer Masato Kumazawa has hinted that some of the ideas that were created when Requiem was a multiplayer game have carried over to the existing project, but won’t reveal what these are yet. 14. If Minecraft stepped up to challenge the best city-building games, I like to think the result would be something like Urbek: City Builder. It's not just the blocky voxel style, although that certainly helps, but also the focus on pure resources over the traditional economies of games like Cities Skylines. It's a refreshing twist on the format that throws scarcity into sharp relief, and in doing so feels very of the times. And if you're quick on the draw, you can pick up a copy right now for under $4. 16. The Assembly Admin locked area in Stella Montis offers some incredible loot, but you'll have to be really lucky to find its key in ARC Raiders. Like most locked areas inside the game, you'll need to obtain a key. While there's no exact location for the key to spawn (it varies based on your luck), you can try to find it at certain locations that have better odds when it comes to keys. This guide will also tell you where to use the key once you've found it. Table of contentsWhere to find the Stella Montis Assembly Admin key in ARC RaidersWhere to use the Stella Montis Assembly Admin key in ARC RaidersWhere to find the Stella Montis Assembly Admin key in ARC Raiders The Assembly Admin key can spawn at any random location across all five maps. I have found one as of writing from the Research and Administration building. I found it in a container on the upper floors, but that location was random. I have still shared its location along with that of Ruby Residence below. Ruby Residence and Research Administration Building. Screenshot and remix by Destructoid Present on the Dam Battlegrounds map, the Ruby Residence apartments are a common hotspot for keys. While it's not a guaranteed spawn location, I have found random keys while looting the containers located in the area. Research and Administration building in ARC Raiders. Screenshot by Destructoid Ultimately, finding the Assembly Admin key (or any other key for that matter) depends entirely on your luck. You can also try out the Residential areas of all four maps. Residential areas tend to spawn plenty of keys for me (not restricted to Stella Montis). Hence, I would do that if you're desperately looking for the Assembly Admin key. Where to use the Stella Montis Assembly Admin key in ARC Raiders The Assembly Admin room is located on the upper floor of the Assembly POI. It's pretty easy to reach the spot where I am in the screenshot below. From the Assembly entrance, turn right and head straight, and you'll reach the Assembly Admin room. Assembly Admin location in Stella Montis. Screenshot and remix by Destructoid Use the key from your inventory to unlock the door, and there are plenty of items to loot inside. Make sure to be careful, as I came up against a Shredder at this location, and there can be other Raiders who can steal your loot. 18. ****** Ops 7's Zombies offering is Call of Duty's most tantalizing in years. Its debut round-based map, Ashes of the Damned, is an homage to Tranzit, which is firmly in my top three CoD Zombies experiences of all time. It's also the biggest round-based map ever made, and it reunites the main characters from ****** Ops 6 Zombies with Dark Aether versions of the beloved quartet of Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen. There are four ways to play in Zombies this year, with Standard and Directed modes being joined by Survival and Cursed, the latter of which throws things back to the feeling of earlier ****** Ops games. Dead Ops Arcade also returns, bringing a top-down, fever-dream twist on proceedings. There's a lot on players' plates already, but Treyarch's creative director, Miles Leslie, tells me that it's just the beginning - "If you thought launch was crazy, it gets even crazier." 19. The Ashes of the Damned map has plenty of secrets to uncover, and one of them involves solving the Spore Plant Easter Egg in ****** Ops 7 Zombies. You'll come across this Easter Egg pretty early after you reach Vandorn Farm or Blackwater Lake. Both locations will provide you with the Fumigator, and this quick guide will help you become a gardener (of sorts) in Ashes of the Damned. Table of contentsHow to get the Fumigator in ****** Ops 7 ZombiesHow to complete the Ashes of the Damned Spore Plant Easter EggHow to get the Fumigator in ****** Ops 7 Zombies The Fumigator is a water filtering can that's required for enriching the Aether Plants. You don't need to fill water as they seem to have it all on their own. I found my first one at Vandorn Farm, but they're located in every location. For your convenience, I have marked the locations of where you can find them on both Blackwater Lake and Vandorn Farm. However, you can also pick them up for the other locations in case you missed them at the earlier locations. Spraying can location in Vandorn Farm. Image via Activision. Screenshot by Destructoid At Vandorn Farm, you can pick it up from two locations: Workshop (near the mystery box) and the first floor of the Barn (near the top-left corner). Spraying can location in Janus Towers Plaza. Image via Activision. Screenshot by Destructoid Incidentally, you'll also find a Fumigator from the Janus Towers Plaza location. Look for one by the generator (right beside where you spawn when starting a new round). I had incidentally missed it on my run, but I believe this is the quickest one to pick. How to complete the Ashes of the Damned Spore Plant Easter Egg Once you find the Fumigator, the rest of the quest is simple. You'll come across Spore Plant buds like the one in the screenshot below. Use the Fumigator on them, and the plant will start growing. Its noise will attract the nearby zombies, and they will attack the plant. Screenshot by Destructoid You'll have to defend the plant till its growth phase is complete. Interact with the plant to get rewards and additional Essence. The loot you get will be completely random, but it can prove to be invaluable in surviving the undead. 20. The Ashes of the Damned map on ****** Ops 7 Zombies has a Musical Easter Egg to crack, which involves finding Mister Peeks Headphones in different locations. There are three Mister Peeks Headphones to be found, and this guide will provide you with all the required information. While finding them isn't directly connected with the main Easter Egg, it's still a cool puzzle to solve. Let's look at where you can find the headphones in Ashes of the Damned. To solve the problem, just go as close as possible and randomly keep pressing the E button. Based on when you're reading this, the bug might get solved. Screenshot by Destructoid Ashwood Mister Peeks Headphone location This one was the trickiest Headphone to find for me. You'll have to head to the eastern side of the map, going past Judgement Square, where the power pump is located. Take the stairs that take you to the spot where a VS Recon wall-buy is located. The headphones will be on the broken roof of the building. Ashwood Mister Peeks Headphone location. Image by Activision. Remix by Destructoid I encountered a bug where the Headphone wasn't visible. If that happens, the only solution for me is to reload into a new round and try again. Exit 115 Mister Peeks Headphone location Exit 115 Mister Peeks Headphone location. Image by Activision. Remix by Destructoid The final Mister Peeks Headphone is quite easy to find. You'll notice a G-Wagon-like SUV on the western side of the map. It's near Reba's Diner, and parked in an open spot. Get on top of the bonnet, and look down beside the driver's seat. You'll find the final Headphone and complete the Music Easter Egg in Ashes of the Damned. 23. Resident Evil has entered a new golden age with fantastic remakes and excellent sequels following Ethan Winters, and the upcoming release of Resident Evil Requiem has some pretty large expectations to meet. 25. Travelling on your path in Where Winds Meet can be extremely dangerous, and having a horse on your side is going to make the navigation far easier. There are different ways to get a horse in Where Winds Meet. However, the game doesn't exactly teach you how to get your own companion. This guide will elaborate on every known way of finding yourself a horse as quickly as possible in Where Winds Meet. Table of contentsHow to get a horse fast in Where Winds MeetAll ways of getting a horse in Where Winds MeetHow to get a horse fast in Where Winds Meet The fastest way of getting a horse, and for free, is to steal from others. Yes, it's not the noblest of things to do, but hey! You'll have to complete a fair amount of missions before the quest "A Horse Neighs in the Forest" begins. This quest involves you getting confronted by two NPCs. Get close to one, and you can snatch their horse by pressing the F button. Only press F if you have the Snatch Horse option on your screen. If you manage to steal a horse, I will run as far as possible. They will be hostile towards you and can also attack if they get a chance. Horse-ridden NPC locations in Where Winds Meet. Screenshot and remix by Destructoid I have also marked a location where you'll find NPCs mounted on horses. Stealing is the easiest way to get one without having to spend any resources. All ways of getting a horse in Where Winds Meet If stealing from NPCs isn't your cup of tea, you can always buy a horse from the in-game shop. There's a wide variety of mount options to choose from, including big cats. However, you'll need in-game resources or real-life money if you don't want to wait. Once purchased, you can then summon them from the main menu. You can also capture wild horses and tame them. Getting a sight of one will be difficult, but you can end up finding one if you look hard enough. Approach them from behind without alerting them to activate the Capture Horse option. This begins a hard minigame that requires you to match the directional keys as they appear on the screen. Once you manage to complete the process, the feral horse will be tamed and added to your collection. The post How to get a horse in Where Winds Meet appeared first on Destructoid.
