With Valorant Mobile being tested in China, three useful features of the game have leaked online, leaving PC and console players questioning Riot Games about why they're not getting them, even though they've asked for years. Valorant Mobile was first announced in June 2021, during the first anniversary of the PC version of the game. And while players expected a 2023 release at the latest, it still hasn't launched. League of Legends has seen a resurgence of players thanks to the return of its Arena mode in May. Like all good things, though, it must eventually come to an end. Originally introduced in July 2023 with the Soul Fighters summer event, the Arena mode, also known as 2v2v2v2, has been a welcome change from the monotony of your regularly scheduled League. From tier lists to constant updates and even its own ranked system, Riot clearly has big plans for the playlist, and now brings it back semi-regularly for new runs. View the full article

Riot Games has quickly backtracked on an update on the League of Legends PBE testing realm after uploading an “experimental” new rune players weren’t actually supposed to see until Season 15’s preseason—that is, if it ever makes it out of the lab. The effect of the leaked rune, which has only appeared in some League players’ PBE matches, reads: “Elixir of Iron, Elixir of Sorcery, and Elixir of Wrath no longer expire after five minutes and can be stacked together at the same time.” It’s on Inspiration’s second slot line and, as far as we can tell, completely replaces Time Warp Tonic—even going as far as using the same emblem of a blue potion half-filled with a magical purple liquid. Diablo 4 is a game about creating exponentially ******* damage numbers with every swing of a *******, but one fan has taken that goal to the obvious conclusion. With some careful character building and a decent understanding of the game's mechanics, it's possible to create Diablo 4 heroes that can take down even the most challenging boss encounter with just a single *******. Of course, with the help of a glitch or two, that power level can be taken even further to the point where the game will refuse to calculate the result. View the full article
Image: The Verge Valve’s new Steam Families feature is now available for everyone following a beta launch earlier this year. With Steam Families, parents are able to share games with their families, manage parental controls for their kids, and approve requests from their kids to buy Steam games. The big improvement with Steam Families over Valve’s previous Family Sharing setup is that multiple people can play games from a shared library at one time. So if I’m playing Balatro and my partner, who is part of my Steam Family, wants to play Arranger, we can both play those games at the same time. However, if my partner wants to play Balatro while I’m already playing it, she’ll need to buy an additional copy. With Steam Families, you can play shared games... I find the word “cozy” to be dreadfully overused when assigning genres to video games these days, but it’s hard to find another adjective that so perfectly captures what I love about Dragon Quest. Straightforward but rewarding turn-based combat paired with a classic hero’s journey told in a picturesque fantasy world result in a wonderfully traditional RPG experience I’ve always found so comforting. So when I was given the choice at a recent preview event to try out Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake on either PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch, the choice to settle in on the couch in the Switch’s handheld mode was an easy one. And rest assured, Switch owners, Dragon Quest 3 looked and ran great on the aging Nintendo system. Square Enix’s other HD-2D games like Octopath Traveler and Live A Live were perfect for playing in short bursts before bed, and Dragon Quest 3 is looking to fit that mold as well. Unlike our first look at Dragon Quest 3’s remake which showed off how faithfully it’s sticking to the roots of the 30-plus-year-old NES RPG, the hour I played Dragon Quest 3 was spent with some of the remake’s brand-new additions. And so far, I’m extremely pleased with the new content that spruces things up without unrecognizably transforming the original experience. First, I hung out in the revamped Monster Arena, where you can send monsters you’ve defeated and recruited throughout the game to do battle against other teams of creatures. In the original Dragon Quest 3, you could simply bet on the outcome of fights in the Monster Arena, but this remake lets you get in on the action yourself. Monster collecting has been a big part of both the main Dragon Quest games and the Monsters spinoff series for decades, and it’s great to see that legacy continue here. I entered the arena with a preset team of a ******, Healslime, and Spiked Hare, but this side mode is clearly set up for me to make my own teams with monsters I recruit across the main game. You don’t directly command your team in the Monster Arena tournament, but rather set how they should act in battle from four distinct options: Show No Mercy, ****** Wisely, Focus on Healing, and Don’t Use MP. For the first few rounds, I instructed my Healslime to focus on healing its allies while the ****** and Spiked Hare dealt all the damage, but once I realized I had this ****** in the bag, I had my whole team go all out. This monster auto battler seems like a fun distraction from the main adventure, and I can see myself swinging by regularly to fine-tune my team and enter them in tournaments. While watching my team do battle I found myself mesmerized by the ****** character models. I’ve felt that Dragon Quest and the HD-2D art style were a match made in heaven since this remake’s initial reveal, and seeing it in action confirmed how much I love seeing these classic enemies in Square Enix’s enticing art direction. The killerpillar (an evil caterpillar, if you couldn’t guess) I faced in my first ****** had a very detailed idle animation where it bounced back and forth, and the way it wriggled its entire body when gearing up for an ******* made the whole turn-based ****** feel so much more dynamic. I’ve felt that Dragon Quest and the HD-2D art style were a match made in heaven since this remake’s initial reveal, and seeing it in action confirmed how much I love seeing these classic enemies in Square Enix’s enticing art direction. The same can be said of the awesome character models for Robbin' 'Ood and his set of Robbin' 'oodlums, the boss ****** I faced at the top of Skyfell Tower. Ascending the tower was a classic, atmospheric dungeon experience filled with random encounters. Here, I was impressed with how flexible Dragon Quest 3’s combat system is. Remember those four preset orders I could assign to my team in the Monster Arena? In Dragon Quest 3’s core combat, those presets are still available to you, with the added option of “Follow Orders”. This means you can rip through the low-stakes random encounters in a dungeon by telling all four of your party members to Show No Mercy, but when a challenging boss ****** begins, you can take control of every decision to ensure you emerge victorious. This, combined with the ability to crank up the battle speed whenever you like, adds to that cozy, relaxing game feel I mentioned earlier. It’s enjoyable to kick back and watch the experience points roll in during the low level fights that only take a few seconds at max speed, but when I reached the top of the tower to face off against Robbin ‘Ood, I wanted to make every choice myself. And it’s a good thing I did take control of the boss ******, because it was a nail-biter. I had to use my Priest to heal my party several times, while my protagonist and Monster Wrangler – which is a new class introduced to the remake – dealt the heavy blows. I let out a big sigh of relief when Robbin ‘Ood finally fell to the ground, and it just made me want to rush straight to the next dungeon to face off against the next big boss. I imagine players will have a ton of fun customizing their party and making changes to it throughout the game. I also want to shout out this remake’s new party customization feature. The party members in Dragon Quest 3 are blank slates, but the remake revamps Patty’s Party Planning Place, a tavern where you can design your own party members, choosing their class, name, appearance, hair ******, and voice. There aren’t very many customization options, but enough to make a rudimentary version of myself that I inserted into my party. I imagine players will have a ton of fun customizing their party and making changes to it throughout the game. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is out November 14 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake arriving sometime next year. View the full article

Most Baldur's Gate 3 players will agree that Scratch is the best camp follower and familiar in the game, which makes this user's discovery especially tragic. It’s common knowledge in VALORANT that ********* while moving messes with your accuracy, but one player shared a simple trick that breaks this rule and catches others off guard in a funny way. In a Sept. 11 Reddit thread, a VALORANT player shared a clip of what they call the “grandma peek,” which involves peeking, crouching, moving, and ********* with a Sheriff all at the same time. The name fits perfectly with the slowness of the move while crouching, but don’t let that silliness fool you. Players have commented, calling it “actual movement tech to confuse your enemies” because they’ll usually anticipate a quicker peek or swing at normal headshot level. View the full article

Dragon Age: Inquisition had plenty of huge worlds, encouraging players to explore every ***** and cranny. And while most of the gameplay shown from The Veilguard so far has looked more linear, BioWare unveiled a treat for exploration enthusiasts today. The Arlathan Forest, Hossberg Wetlands, and Rivain Coast were all put on display, as well as the city streets of Minrathous in a more exploratory look outside the main intro quest that was shown in The Veilguard’s first gameplay look, and the lit-up city of Treviso. Each small video was accompanied by snippets of lore for the respective locations, often name-checking the factions that call each area home. The Veil Jumpers, for example, explore Arlathan, while The Antivan Crows have some vested interests in Treviso. View the full article

Last-hitting is so mind-numbingly boring in most MOBAs. Hello! We are excited to announce Steam Families is now available for all users. Steam Families is a collection of new and existing family-related features. It replaces both Steam Family Sharing and Steam Family View, giving you a single location to manage which games your family can access and when they can play. Create a Steam Family To get started, you can create a Steam Family and then invite up to 5 family members. You can manage your family from your Steam Client, mobile device or web browser. By joining a Steam Family, each member gains access to the following Steam features: Family Sharing When you join a Steam Family, you automatically gain access to the shareable games that your family members own and they will also be able to access the shareable titles in your library. The next time you log in to Steam, this new 'family library' will appear in the left column as a subsection of your games list. You maintain ownership of your current titles and when you purchase a new game it will still show up in your collection. Best of all, when you are playing a game from your family library, you will create your own saved games, earn your own Steam achievements, have access to workshop files and more. Family Sharing enables you to play games from other family members' libraries, even if they are online playing another game. If your family library has multiple copies of a game, multiple members of the family can play that game at the same time. For a more detailed look at how Family Sharing works, see the FAQ below. Family Sharing is a feature that developers may opt their games out of for technical or other reasons at any time. Visit the Steam Store to see a list of games that currently support Family Sharing. Parental Controls Steam Families includes new parental controls that allow parents to set limits on what and when children play games on Steam. You can control which games your children have access to and monitor their activity. This information is available from wherever you access Steam, including your mobile device when you are away from home. Members of a Steam Family can have one of two roles: ****** or child. Any ****** family member can manage invites and apply account restrictions. Children are subject to parental controls and do not have permissions to manage the family. Parental control features let adults: Allow access to appropriate games Restrict access to the Steam Store, Community or Friends Chat Set playtime limits (hourly/daily) View playtime reports Approve or deny requests from child accounts for additional playtime or feature access (temporary or permanent) Recover a child's account if they lost their password Child Purchase Requests We understand a common (and sometimes time-consuming) task for parents is purchasing games for their children. This usually requires that parents complete a gift purchase or let their kids borrow a credit card. To streamline this process, Steam Families introduces a new payment option where a child account can request an in-family ****** to pay for their shopping cart. The ****** can approve and pay for the purchase from their mobile device or email. Once approved, all games from the shopping cart will be added to the child's account. FAQ Who can be in a Steam Family? While we know that families come in many shapes and sizes, Steam Families is intended for a household of up to 6 close family members. To that end, as we monitor the usage of this feature, we may adjust the requirements for participating in a Steam Family or the number of members over time to keep usage in line with this intent. Can I leave a Steam Family? Steam Families are intended to contain your immediate family. As major life events can change who lives in your household, it is understandable that some day you may need to join a new Steam Family. Adults can leave a family at any time, however, they will need to wait 1 year from when they joined the previous family to create or join a new family. Children in a Steam Family cannot leave the family themselves and must be removed by an ****** in the family or by Steam Support. As it is rare that a family member leaves the family, each Steam Family slot has a cooldown of one year before a new member can occupy that slot. Can I be kicked out of a Steam Family? Yes, ****** family members can kick any family member out of the Steam Family. Can we go through a real world example of how a Steam Family might share games? Of course! Let's say that you are in a family with 4 members and that you own a copy of Portal 2 and a copy of Half-Life. At any time, any one member can play Portal 2 and another can play Half-Life. If two of you would like to play Portal 2 at the same time, someone else in the family will need to purchase a copy of the game. After that purchase, there are two owned copies of Portal 2 across the family and any two members can play at the same time. In this example, if your family chose to not buy a second copy, you can play any other game in your library while waiting for your family member to finish playing your copy of Portal 2. Which games are currently eligible for Family Sharing? A game's developer controls whether a game is eligible for sharing with Steam Families. All developer settings for the previous Steam Family Sharing feature are being brought forward to Steam Families. So, if a game is currently eligible for Family Sharing, it will remain so in the new system unless the developer chooses to opt-out later. In addition, not all games can be shared due to technical limitations. For example, titles that require an additional third-party key, account, or subscription in order to play cannot be shared between accounts. We want as many games as possible to be accessible via Family Sharing, but we realize some games might have special cases where this feature isn’t feasible or doesn’t give users a good experience. Developers who have these concerns can reach out to us via the partner support page to get help with options and solutions. Do I need to share all of my games with my family? By joining a family, all games are automatically shared with the other members in your family. ****** accounts can use parental controls to limit which games each child in the Family can access. What happens if my brother gets banned for cheating while playing my game? If a family member gets banned for cheating while playing your copy of a game, you (the game owner) will also be banned in that game. Other family members are not impacted. Do I need to be online to play a shared game? You can play games from the Family library offline as long as that game supports Family Sharing. I'm currently using the existing Steam Family Sharing feature. What happens now with Steam Families? You should set up a Steam Family! Once done, Steam will automatically recommend inviting any accounts that you were previously sharing with. I'm currently using the Family View feature with my family. What happens now with Steam Families? If you create a Steam Family and add a child account, any existing Family View settings associated with that account will be transferred to Steam Families under Parental Controls. The ability to unlock controls by entering a PIN will be removed, but the settings are otherwise untouched. Once they've joined the family, you can modify their parental controls at any time. Have more questions about Steam Families? See our Support FAQ. We'd love to hear what you think about this new feature. Let us know in the Steam Families forum.View the full article
