  1. Devout Baldur's Gate 3 players are likely very familiar with the unfortunate story of Bing ***** so those who want to give the beloved imp a second chance can now do so with this improved mod. While he may not be a character that actually appears in Larian Studios' RPG, Bing ***** has become somewhat of an unofficial mascot for Baldur's Gate 3 thanks to a memorable performance by the game's cast during an actual-play Dungeons & Dragons performance before launch. His fate may have been tragic, but fans have never forgotten him. View the full article
  2. Demos were once a cornerstone of PC gaming and they arguably will be again thanks to events like Steam Next Fest. The latest update to Steam seeks to make those free slices of potential delight easier to find for players, and easier to promote for developers. Read more View the full article
  3. The Shadow Cursed Lands are home to many different quests in Baldur’s Gate 3. But one of the strangest inhabitants of the area is a child named Oliver—and you’ll have to beat him in a classic game of hide and seek to earn a powerful reward. Oliver can be found on the northeastern side of the Shadow Cursed Lands inside a ruined house. When you first meet the young boy in BG3, it’ll be immediately apparent he’s not real and something has gone amiss. The boy doesn’t seem to notice, though, and simply wants somebody to play with. More specifically, Oliver wants you to play hide and seek with him. View the full article
  4. Once Human players have scoured its map for Deviations to help them survive an apocalyptic wasteland, and it turns out one rare collectible, Hug-in-a-Bowl, is bugged. Finding Hug-in-a-Bowl is tricky. Though some had luck finding it during beta periods, many have been led to believe it has a low drop rate. Even thorough individuals have struggled to uncover it at its Iron River and Broken Delta spawn locations. Rare items are nothing new for multiplayer titles like Once Human, but this particular Deviation has caused enough problems among fans to become a talking point in Steam and Discord communities. It’s been an issue since Once Human 1.0 arrived earlier this month, but it turns out there’s a technical hiccup keeping it from more players’ hands. We asked Once Human developer Starry Studio about Hug-in-a-Bowl and whether it was indeed a rare drop. The team confirmed that the Deviation is bugged, and they say a fix will arrive in an upcoming patch. “The team completed the check and found out the spawn is actually bugged!” a representative for Once Human said. “They added it to their list of changes for the upcoming patch and will fix it.” When exactly Starry will be able to fix the Hug-in-a-Bowl bug is unclear, but we do know that a massive update is set to arrive sometime in September. The studio offered a peak at its plans last week, teasing new PvP and PvE scenarios, map additions, and more. Like any patch, Starry will surely fix a laundry list of glitches players have been dealing with, so let’s hope a Hug-in-a-Bowl fix drops, too. Once Human launched just a few weeks ago and has quickly become a favorite among PC players. We’re excited to see where it goes, as we liked it enough at launch to give it an 8/10 in our review. We said, “Once Human combines simple but solid building and upgrading with some of the best, and weirdest, creature designs of the year to create a very enjoyable survival-crafting experience.” Michael Cripe is a freelance contributor with IGN. 5. The developers behind Persona 5: The Phantom X confirmed that the popular mobile gacha game spin-off will soon make the jump to consoles. Since its regional release back in April of this year, the Persona 5 spin-off title has enjoyed substantial success, to the point that it didn't take long before ***** began to look into the possible benefits of a global launch. Now, a recent offline event held in Shanghai additionally hinted at what developers might have in store for Persona 5: The Phantom X, with new content, collaborations, and ports reportedly planned out. 7. A PSVR2 app has appeared on Steam, with a release date set for August 6, 2024, hinting at imminent PC support. While little is known about how the app will work, and all we have is some screenshots of the setup process, it's an exciting time for virtual reality enthusiasts after a relatively quiet *******. While PSVR2 is one of the best VR headsets on paper, its restricted compatibility held it back enormously. Like its predecessor, the PSVR2 headset is soon to be PC compatible alongside the Meta Quest 3 and Valve Index, but very little is known about how this will work. Read the rest of the story... 8. ********* is never the answer—well, almost. In Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s hard to avoid major combat scenarios, no matter how proficient you are in Persuasion. But ********* doesn’t always have to be lethal. For those unaware, like I was until my partner told me, you have an option of using Non-Lethal Attacks in BG3, which means you can go about your adventure and hypothetically avoid ******** a single individual or creature. There are rules to Non-Lethal Attacks, though, and ramifications for leaving someone unconscious in the wilderness. View the full article
  9. Though 2024 is already stuffed with solid strategy games like Manor Lords, Homeworld 3, and Songs of Silence, the year continues to be a surprisingly excellent one for the genre. The most recent strategy game to come out with positive reviews and plenty of buzz is Cataclismo, an RTS with a heavy emphasis not just on castle building and defense, but also physics interactions of the kind that make games like Besiege stand out. Now, the addition of an unexpected new sandbox mode has just been announced, making the game even better. Read the rest of the story... 11. There are many different camos you can unlock and use in Modern Warfare 3, but if you’re up for a challenge, then this season’s Decipher camo could be the next target for your collection. The Decipher camo can only be unlocked by playing Warzone, and parts of the challenges are hidden, making completing them even *******. It’s a fitting theme and good challenge for Call of Duty connoisseurs since it’s part of the redacted section of the challenges. It would take a bit of time to figure out these challenges if you were doing them without any help. View the full article
  12. We're in a real renaissance for fighting games right now, with Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Mortal Kombat 1 all absolutely thriving. The recent EVO finals were a thing to behold - but also a welcome reminder that the coolest fighting game out there is actually Guilty Gear Strive, and it's not even that close. The good news if you haven't dipped into the Arc System Works masterpiece, then, is that you can try the new Guilty Gear Strive mode for free right now, even if you don't own the game, and it's going cheap if you enjoy yourself. 14. Throughout the years, the genre of strategy video games has grown and evolved, with many flocking to thought-intensive titles like Starcraft and Civilization to lose themselves in the challenges that are presented in the games. Strategy games have a way of being very cerebral experiences, demanding a level of focus and critical thinking that goes beyond the average shooter. They often have a focus on war, stemming from their roots as tabletop war games at military academies over the past several centuries. This isn't always the case, however, as is seen with the rise of factory-themed strategy games over the past few years. View the full article
  15. I, like many people, have plowed hours and hours into Baldur's Gate 3, yet haven't even stepped foot in the titular citadel. Faerun is a living, breathing world, where the tiniest of decisions have Butterfly Effect-style ripples, completely changing storylines and locking off others we never even knew about. Blending that limitlessness with the vibrant, magical feel of Fable, new RPG Peasant is looking to reinvent the fantasy genre all over again - and it just earned over $100,000 on Kickstarter to help it do so. 17. The camo challenges grind has never been ******* in a Call of Duty game, thanks to the huge, growing list of all camos in Modern Warfare 3. There are separate challenges to unlock camos for CoD: MW3 guns and guns brought from MW2 as part of the Carry Forward system. There are 36 new weapons in MW3 at launch, and most of them have eight camos to unlock, including four base camos and four Mastery camos, with some exceptions. 19. Gale is one of the first companions we meet in our Baldur’s Gate 3 adventure. As a powerful Wizard, he’s a strong asset to our party, though he has a significant disadvantage: he needs to be fed magic items. He tells us about his unusual sickness shortly after he joins our party for the first time. We learn that if Gale doesn’t consume a magic item every once in a while, a great catastrophe will occur. While we don’t immediately learn what that catastrophe is exactly, it’s better to satisfy his craving when we can, though we know it can be tiresome and consuming—literally. View the full article
  20. The Earth Defense Force 6 Steam launch has been a mixed success. Finally arriving on PC, the bold, bright, and bananas co-op game has been met, quite rightly, with high player numbers and some serious raw enthusiasm - to this day, there is nothing like the EDF series, and we're glad the latest edition has finally gotten a port. There is, however, a problem. In order to play Earth Defense Force 6 multiplayer, you need to make and link an Epic Online Services account, even if you and all your compadres are using Steam. Just like Helldivers 2 and the PSN debacle, it's resulted in a pretty hellish review ******** campaign. Now, however, everything might be about to change. Read the rest of the story... 21. As you continue building your base in Once Human, you will eventually need some sort of power to keep some of your appliances and other machines running.
