Some of the most pervasive images of our time are Twitch emotes—who among us hasn’t said “poggers” in real life? A decade-old icon of streaming is now on its way out, however, as the BibleThump emote reaches the end of its licensing ******* and Twitch searches for a replacement. The news that BibleThump would soon be disappearing broke just yesterday. It was, perhaps, unavoidable: While the crying, cartoonish face has grown synonymous with expressing sadness in your favorite streamer’s Twitch chat, it in fact originates from roguelike indie darling The Binding of Isaac. As such, Twitch originally agreed to use it through a limited licensing agreement, and now that agreement is ending, it’s time to find something to take its place. No statement about their plans to replace BibleThump was included with that initial announcement, but now Twitch has turned to the community for help. View the full article

Enlarge (credit: Getty Images | eccolo74) [/url] Valve Corporation, tired of paying arbitration fees, has removed a mandatory arbitration clause from Steam's subscriber agreement. Valve told gamers in yesterday's update that they must sue the company in order to resolve disputes. The subscriber agreement includes "changes to how disputes and claims between you and Valve are resolved," Steam wrote in an email to users. "The updated dispute resolution provisions are in Section 10 and require all claims and disputes to proceed in court and not in arbitration. We've also removed the class action waiver and cost and fee-shifting provisions." The Steam agreement previously said that "you and Valve agree to resolve all disputes and claims between us in individual binding arbitration." Now, it says that any claims "shall be commenced and maintained exclusively in any state or federal court located in King County, Washington, having subject matter jurisdiction." More than any other community I've seen, the people who play EA FC regularly are some of the most brand-loyal in existence. These are the same types of people who will constantly remind you about the game's biggest issues, blaming corporate greed, server lag, and plain old ignorance on the developer's part. And yet, without fail, they're the first to hammer that pre-order button as soon as the game becomes available. Don't worry, I'm not judging, for I am one of these people. ****** Stranding creator Hideo Kojima has multiple different projects in the works, with the upcoming ****** Stranding 2 potentially arriving next year and the still developomg OD and Physint projects, as well as a ****** Stranding film adaptation in the works. But the famed developer is only getting started. In an interview with Variety, it was revealed that Kojima has signed with Hollywood talent agency WME in order to expand his work beyond the world of video games, as well as juggle all of the projects that he has in development. According to Kojima, getting closer to Hollywood was a natural progression for him and his ambitions to create pieces of digital entertainment across several different mediums. Kojima cites the blurring lines between video games and movies as one of his reasons, citing the many Hollywood actors he has worked with across multiple cinematic games as one of his inspirations. Hollywood, get ready for Hideo Kojima. The ****** Stranding and Metal Gear creator sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Variety, published today, in which he talked about about the next steps of his career — and revealed a more direct tie to Hollywood. Kojima has signed with talent agency WME, which the publication describes as his "his liaison in the world of TV and film." He also went into detail about the future of Kojima Productions, breaking down his plan into three phases. The first phase, Kojima said, was all about ****** Stranding and establishing it "within the games category and expand on global platforms, like Apple and PC and Sony." "This part is not necessarily difficult," he added. Part of that, of course, is the upcoming ****** Stranding sequel, which is set to release sometime next year. But the second phase, Kojima revealed, involves "different forms of media: movies, anime, TV dramas, etc." "Basically, expanding the game IP to other media," he continued. "That’s the second phase. That’s what we’re aiming for next. I created Kojima Productions under the scope of 'digital entertainment,' but I don’t think it necessarily has to be a video game. We could create a new IP from a game, or an anime, or a film, or something totally different. Anything is possible, and that’s the third phase." That third phase certainly sounds a little more vague, but Kojima added that he "would like to work with talented people from around the world and create something new, with 'digital' being the keyword." "It could be a movie, a game, or something else entirely," he continued. "I can’t **** until then! I don’t think I’m trying to do anything too out of the ordinary!" "I created Kojima Productions under the scope of 'digital entertainment,' but I don’t think it necessarily has to be a video game." Variety also asked for an update on the ****** Stranding movie, which was announced late last year with A24 and Kojima Productions, but Kojima didn't reveal too much. He did confirm, however, that he won't be directing it himself, although he will "supervise the plot and help them make it." As for who might direct it, Jordan Peele seems like an obvious candidate, given his and Kojima's partnership on the mysterious upcoming game OD. But Kojima pointed out that he has close relationships with other big filmmakers as well, including Guillermo del Toro, Nicolas Winding Refn, and George Miller, "and we always talk about doing something together." "Right now, movies and games are two different branches, but pretty soon, it will be very similar," he continued. "So, it’s not about making a video game out of Nope or having Jordan adapt ****** Stranding into a film. It’s about making something new together." He also revealed that there "are several ****** Stranding adaptation projects currently underway, but there is a different story I’ve written that’s intended for a movie. But I don’t have the time to direct it, so I won’t. Which is kind of like a test for the third phase." Regardless, it looks like there's a lot more entertainment to come from Kojima in the future — whether it's in video games, the big screen, or anywhere in between. Bethesda's approach to DLC has often been a little haphazard in how they integrate into games. There are few things as immersion-breaking as starting Oblivion or Fallout 3 and receiving seventeen notifications spread out across the first few minutes, telling you about additions and quests you have no interest in tackling, and can't do anything about yet. In the upcoming Starfield Shattered Space DLC, it looks like it may be handled a little more naturally, but there's still a few things to be aware of. Read the rest of the story...
