  3. We pretty much expected this one, but we’re still glad to see it confirmed. Starfield’s first expansion, Shattered Space, has been officially dated, thanks to a new teaser that dropped during Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live. Shattered Space remained mysterious for much of its life, and it wasn’t until the Xbox Showcase in June that we got a first look at it. Now, we only need to wait a little longer to actually play it. 6. Unawake is one of the most interesting upcoming RPGs around. Not only is it being made by a tiny development team out of Turkey on Unreal Engine 5, but it aims to blend the hellish aesthetic and customization of Diablo with the first person combat you'd see in games like Skyrim or Chivalry. If you want to see what that premise looks like in action, then you'll definitely want to check out its brand new trailer. Read the rest of the story... 7. Vampires are renowned for emerging from the gloom of the night before disappearing, often with a twirl of a cape or the leathery sound of bat wings. So it's entirely in-character for Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 to return to the darkness, gliding out of reach with unnatural grace. All of which is to say that it's been delayed into 2025, so vampire fans will have to wait a bit longer to play it. Read the rest of the story... 8. Path of Exile 2 has made an appearance at Gamescom Opening Night Live, providing us with a ******* trailer showing off a mixture of cinematics and gameplay to expect. And if of the brief teaser alone, you can’t wait to sink your teeth into the grand adventure, there’s good news. During the show, Grinding Gear Games revealed that the game will launch in Early Access on November 15, 2024. That’s not too long to wait for the six-act campaign, though, who knows what will actually be available when November rolls around. So far, it’s looking good. Path of Exile 2 will be coming to PC via Steam and Epic Games Store (available on Windows and Mac), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Read more View the full article
  9. Great news, Dune fans. Dune Awakening had a reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live, which featured an open beta release window for early 2025 on PC, with PlayStation and Xbox release dates still TBA. This means you - yes, you at home - can finally get access to one of the most anticipated MMOs without having to rely on closed beta invites. Well, so long as you have a PC that can run it, anyway. This announcement came alongside an extended trailer, which showed off the game's character creator, alongside what you'll be doing during your early hours in Arrakis (desperately trying not to **** despite the searing heat and lack of water). There's also an overview of the ways you'll be able to form co-operative working relationships (or not) with other players for base-building, combat, and other survival concerns; a whistle-stop tour of the crafting systems; and some stunning looks at the vast sandy open world. Dune Awakening has got some interesting bits worth knowing if you've been out of the loop. For one, it's set in an alternate timeline when Paul Atredies wasn't born, and as such has plenty of room to do interesting things to the rich lore present in the Dune universe. The game looks pretty cool from a gameplay perspective too, blending base-building with battling factions and deep dungeons to explore. Read more View the full article

  11. Grotesquely distorted monsters, twisted worlds, and panic-inducing chases—this is exactly what we’ve come to expect from Tarsier Studios, the developer behind Little Nightmares. But the Swedish studio is “evolving” with its new game, Reanimal, which is primed to be its darkest offering yet. The Reanimal trailer revealed on Aug. 20 at Gamescom Opening Night Live featured terrifying snippets from the horror adventure, including a chase with a contorted creature on a tiny bike, children sneaking past a hairy, too-many-legged monster, and a sheep crunching into life (which made me physically grimace). This brief montage, underpinned by a soundtrack that wouldn’t be out of place in a Jordan Peele film, left me uncomfortable—in the way a great horror game should. View the full article
  12. Reanimal is the next horror adventure from the creators of Little Nightmares, but this time, there’s a focus on co-op mechanics. If you’re intrigued by Reanimal but don’t want to play with someone else, we’re here to tell you whether it’s possible to play solo. Horror games and movies are often best experienced with a friend, but if you don’t have mates willing to be scared out of their wits or you aren’t a fan of teamwork, you likely want to take on Reanimal solo. Here’s everything you need to know about whether the game has a single-player option. View the full article
  13. Remember Arc Raiders? It was first revealed during The Game Awards 2021 and instantly started creating a lot of buzz... and then it just sort of disappeared. But today, out of absolutely nowhere, it has risen back up to the surface to show a pretty cool trailer that has once again got people talking. At Gamescom Opening Night Live, the trailer revealed that the game is still kicking and screaming somewhere in development *****, and it's coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC next year. In theory. I've written extensively about the game in the past, and everything I loved about it back then still looks cool now - and it's even had a bit of a graphics upgrade. Read more View the full article

  19. Image: Gearbox Software Gearbox is planning to launch Borderlands 4 sometime in 2025, the company announced at the Gamescom Opening Night Live show on Tuesday. The game is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X / S. The reveal trailer was pretty mysterious, and the trailer’s description on YouTube doesn’t offer much in the way of specifics, either. “In this next installment of the definitive looter shooter, players will assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they blast their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to loot on an all-new planet,” according to the description. 21. Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 has made a surprise appearance at Gamescom Opening Night Live, with Katherine Anderson and Jon Zuck of Raven Software hitting the stage to reveal a brand-new trailer.. 22. Goat Simulator Remastered - yes, that's a remaster of 2014's original Goat Simulator as the name would suggest - has just been revealed by developer Coffee Stain during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024, and is set to release later this year. The remaster, which follows the relatively recent release of Goat Simulator 3's pretty huge Multiverse of Nonsense DLC, will include all of the expansions for the PC version of the original Goat Sim, from Goat MMO to Goat Z, and even the sci-fi themed Waste of Space pack. The Buck to School DLC, which was previously exclusive to Goat Simulator Mobile, is also included. In line with that last bit, as well as packing in all the DLC, the remaster has seen mutators be reworked, so you no longer have to restart the game to change your goat's model, with this goming alongside, as Coffee Stain puts it: "new and improved visuals, updated textures, pretty new lighting, and some brand new foliage - just like no one asked for."
