Where Winds Meet, a free-to-play MMO with Soulslike characteristics, contains some gacha elements that seem to have become a fundamental part of Eastern F2P games. While entirely cosmetic, they can lead to ludicrous skin prices due to low drop rates, and one of them costs as much as $42,000. Though a game with well-designed systems, gameplay, and especially combat, Where Winds Meet has to make its money somewhere. As with most free-to-play games, this usually comes from selling skins and cosmetics, which, though expensive at times, aren't necessary to play the game, and there are often many ways of obtaining cool-looking cosmetics free of charge. However, gacha games are a bit different, as they lock the best-looking stuff behind so-called "pulls," which merely give you a chance to get a good item. Think CS2's chests, but with much worse odds. Where Winds Meet, like other gachas, gives you a "guaranteed" ultra-rare drop if you've spent enough money but still haven't received it, which is precisely how the skin in question can cost up to $42,000. It is pretty, I will admit. Screenshot by Destructoid The "Celestial Mortal" skin, as it is known in the game, is probably one of its rarest, and the only way to get it is by being super lucky on the pulls. If you aren't, then expect to pay $42,000, equivalent to about a yearly salary in the US, to get it. It's a beautiful skin, don't get me wrong, and it lives up to its name, but I'm not going to pretend that it isn't a tad bit excessive for a video game cosmetic that alters nothing except appearance. And it's not like the game doesn't have cool skins that are otherwise free or cheap as well. Gacha games and super-expensive "guarantees" are a topic I've covered extensively over the past few years, and the problem is by no means subsiding. What's more, it has spread to games in the West as well, including the likes of League of Legends. Even so, the latter's guaranteed drops run people up to a few hundred bucks at most, and are far removed from the 300,000 Yuan ($42,000) price tags of the Celestial Mortal. Let's hope it stays that way. The post This new gacha game’s skin costs as much as your yearly salary appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article

One of my favorite things about Baldur's Gate 3 is how it slides in little nods to its Dungeons and Dragons underpinning, like the lovingly animated dice. But while it's one of the best DnD games in years, you could probably play it without ever realizing that, if you weren't already familiar with the tabletop original. The newly released Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked, on the other hand, absolutely revels in its heritage. Peering over its gorgeous environments dotted with figurines feels like playing the highest-budget tabletop D&D campaign you've ever seen. Read the rest of the story... Tigger wants you to compete in a series of games he's set up to earn the Crystal Key you need as a prize in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the games you need to tackle is presented through the Solve the Puzzle quest. All puzzles you encounter around the valley tend to be fairly tricky, as you're often given little to no guidance on how to get them done. This one is not only tough, but it's also missing a piece, which means there's a lot you need to tackle for it. Here’s how to complete Solve the Puzzle in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Table of contentsHow to complete Solve the Puzzle in Disney Dreamlight ValleySolve the Puzzle location in Disney Dreamlight ValleyGather resources to repair the Broken Tile in Disney Dreamlight ValleySolve the Puzzle solution in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to complete Solve the Puzzle in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid To complete the Solve the Puzzle quest, you need to gather resources to repair the Broken Tile, solve the matching puzzle, and claim your prize tickets. This is sort of a mini mission, as you're given this one and two others to play all the games featured in the larger Fun! Fun! Fun! quest. Solve the Puzzle location in Disney Dreamlight Valley The first step in this quest is finding where the puzzle you need to solve is located. Tigger doesn't tell you anything about finding his games, so it can be a bit tricky to track down on your own. The puzzle featured in this quest is located near the very far north end of Pixie Flats. To find it, head around the left side of the stall area where Tigger stands throughout this quest. Look for the big horseshoe arch in the corner and proceed under it. Walk up the ramp to find the puzzle in the small hidden area at the top. Screenshot by Destructoid Gather resources to repair the Broken Tile in Disney Dreamlight Valley The puzzle is missing a piece, and you can't start solving it without it, so your next goal is to gather all of the resources needed to repair the Broken Tile. This includes: NameQuantityWhere to findHardwood8A fairly common resource that can be found on the ground near trees in many biomes, such as the Forest of Valor, Glade of Trust, Sunlit Plateau, and Frosted Heights.Honeycomb Stone2A Gem that can be mined from rock spots found all around Pixie Acres, including in the Hundred-Acre Fields, Sundae Shores, Pixie Flats, and Hunny Falls areas.Clay10A common material that can be found while digging in many areas, such as the Glade of Trust, Sunlit Plateau, and Forgotten Lands.Broken Tile1This item is sitting right behind the fence that surrounds the Tigger puzzle you're soon going to work on. Walk around the backside to grab it.Solve the Puzzle solution in Disney Dreamlight Valley To complete the Solve the Puzzle quest, you need to equip your Royal Shovel and use it to turn over each of the nine tiles until all of them feature a blue background and fit together to form the correct depiction of Tigger's face. Some of them will already be on the right tile when you start, but the rest need to be flipped a few times to get the pieces to align properly. Screenshot by Destructoid The centerpiece is the toughest one to line up since it has no background color. Save this piece for last, focusing on fixing the other eight first. Once all of the other pieces are correct, you can easily flip the middle one until the quest objective updates to tell you you're done, at which point you can go claim your tickets from the machine by Tigger. There's a bit more to get done in the Fun! Fun! Fun! quest, so keep working through it after you finish this mini mission in it. Once you're done, you'll finally be able to explore the next trial in the Crystal Cavern: Pixie Acres quest, which is also when you unlock your final Disney horse.
