  4. In the deep, dark mists of 2023, Crypt of the Necrodancer developer Brace Yourself Games released a mech-themed, simultaneous turn-based tactics game called Phantom Brigade. It sounded like an instant winner, and it certainly had potential. 5. Despite how rooted Critical Role's stories have been in the iconic TTRPG of dungeon crawling and dragon slaying, it's strayed. Animated adaptations such as The Legend of Vox Machina have actively distanced themselves from Wizards of the Coast's branding, for example. Perhaps it was inevitable then, that Critical Role would finally crack its knuckles and make its own TTRPG. That game turned out to be Daggerheart, and it's been a hit among many tabletop fans, despite some growing pains. With all the momentum behind it, the developers just announced Daggerheart's first major expansion, set for Summer 2026. Read the rest of the story... 9. When you look at a game's Steam page and see the 'small update' tag, it can be easy to assume it's some bug fixes and minor tweaks. I didn't expect to open the new Deadlock update and find myself staring at more than 240 lines of changes, therefore, let alone ones that completely transform the entire flow of the laning phase. The hero-shooter MOBA is still very much in the experimental phase, of course, and years of Dota 2 have taught me that Valve is certainly no stranger to dropping dramatic overhauls on our heads, yet this one managed to catch me off guard. If you're playing Deadlock, you'll want to pay close attention. Read the rest of the story... 16. The Alloyed Collective expansion brings a new Artifact to Risk of Rain 2 in the form of the Artifact of Prestige, and it allows you to have an interesting gameplay modifier once activated. To activate the Artifact of Prestige, you'll first have to find the code. This guide will provide you with all the key information required to activate the latest Artifact. Artifact of Prestige Code in Risk of Rain 2 You'll have to reach Stage 3 on a run to obtain the code. However, I have listed the code below to make it easier for you to activate the Artifact. 20. If you've been waiting for the right time to bulk up your gaming library, now's your chance. While we're still waiting on Nintendo's deals, Xbox and Amazon launched ****** Friday sales earlier this week. Now PlayStation has entered the fray with a spread of discounts on games, accessories, and even PS5 consoles. While it's worth checking your wishlist and doing some scrolling, as a starting point, we're seeing great discounts for anyone looking to start or fill in the gaps on a Final Fantasy collection. Final Fantasy Games on ***** for ****** Friday Overall, you’ve got options. The PlayStation Store offers the best discounts on the FF7 Remakes, but Amazon is actually offering physical copies. It really comes down to how much you care about having those games lined up on your shelf vs. sitting in your digital library. If you’re on the PC side, Steam is also running a PlayStation publisher ***** that includes roughly the same discounts. The Final Fantasy Pixel Collection is pretty unreal bang for your buck. It includes the pixel remasters of the first six Final Fantasy games for just $30 total with the current price drop, making it a great choice for something you can really dig into over the holidays. The discount also applies to the Nintendo Switch version. While we wait for news on the third and final part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, you can pick up the first two games at a discount. Remake Intergrade (Intergrade just meaning the PS5 version) has dropped to $19.99 for physical and $14.99 for digital. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, released just last year, has dropped to $39.99 for the physical copy on Amazon and $34.99 through PlayStation. Michael Higham's 9/10 review of Rebirth for IGN describes how it "impressively builds off of what Remake set in motion as both a best-in-class action-RPG full of exciting challenge and depth, and as an awe-inspiring recreation of a world that has meant so much to so many for so long." The most recent mainline release, Final Fantasy XVI, has dropped to its lowest ever price on Amazon, which happens to be $5 cheaper than you can find it on the PlayStation Store. While outside of ****** Friday deals themselves, Amazon does have a teensy tiny 5% discount on the most recent spin-off release, Final Fantasy Tactics: Ivalice Chronicles. More PlayStation ****** Friday Deals PlayStation has knocked $100 off both its PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles, the only real console deals we’ve so far this ****** Friday. There’s also PlayStation Plus discounts and a spread of DualSense controllers on *****, including my personal favorite, the limited edition Ghost of Yotei version. Blythe (she/her) is an SEO Coordinator at IGN who spends way too much time in character customization screens and tracking down collectibles. View the full article

  23. Over the past couple of weeks, friends and colleagues have made me aware of multiple ingeniously implemented, browser-based ways to play classic MS-DOS and Windows games with other people on basically any hardware. The late 1990s and early 2000s were the peak of multiplayer gaming for me. It was the era of real-time strategy games and boomer shooters, and not only did I attend many LAN parties, but I also played online with friends. That’s still possible today with several old-school games; there are Discord servers that arrange scheduled matches of Starsiege Tribes, for example. But oftentimes, it’s not exactly trivial to get those games running in modern Windows, and as in the old days, you might have some annoying network configuration work ahead of you—to say nothing of the fact that many folks who were on Windows back in those days are now on macOS or Linux instead. 24. The Megatech DLC is now available in Astroneer, introducing new buildings, missions, and more. Most of the new content revolves around the Megatech missions. If you've been a regular player, chances are that you should be able to access the missions directly by installing the DLC. If you're new or starting a fresh save, here's what you have to do to gain access to the Megatech missions. Table of contentsHow to start the Megatech missions in AstroneerUnearthed quest walkthroughForward Progress quest walkthroughHow to start the Megatech missions in Astroneer The first step is to get the DLC and finish the following missions: Unearthed: Print an Extractor and extract a Resource Nugget.Forward Progress: Place a shelter on another planet and place a Landing pad on it. These are missions available in the base game. For older players, these missions should be automatically completed on their saves (unless they started a new one). If you're a beginner, I have added brief guides on completing both quests. Image via System Era Softworks Unearthed quest walkthrough You'll need two resources. One Plastic (created using Chemistry Lab)Two Iron (Obtain Hermatite from planets like Glacio and Novus, and you can use it to get Iron). The next step is to start printing. You will first need to obtain the blueprint. Use the Large Printer to scroll down to the Extractor, and start the process. Once done, just wait for the process to complete. Connect the Extractor to a power source, and use it to print a Resource Nugget (the recipe will be shown on the Extractor). The Unearthed quest will be automatically completed when the Resource Nugget is produced. Forward Progress quest walkthrough The Forward Progress quest is relatively simple, and you'll have to place a Shelter and a Landing Pad on another planet. To make a Landing Pad, you'll need to put in one Aluminum and two Ceramic into a Large Printer. To make a Shelter, you'll need to put in two Silicone and two Plastic into a Large Printer. We already know where to find Plastic, but here's a brief explanation about how you can get the rest of the resources. Silicone has to be produced via a Chemistry Lab using Resin, Methane, and Quartz.Aluminum can be produced in a Smelting Furnace using Laterite.Ceramic can be produced using Clay on a Smelting Furnace. Once you craft and place the Landing Pad and Shelter on any planet apart from Sylva, it will complete the Forward Progress quest. Do note that completing the quests mentioned above will enable you to access the starting Megatech DLC missions. There are two more branches of missions: Museum and Intermodal Terminal. Here's what you need to complete to access them. Museum Take a Byte: Gain 2000 more Bytes. Here We Go Sampling: Find and use 10 Research Samples Intermodal Rubberstamp: Use Data Log on Logistics Depot: Glacio to confirm shipment completed.Materials Matters: Print a Chemistry Lab to create Rubber or Plastic.
