  1. Bethesda is shutting down The Elder Scrolls Legends, and has delisted the game from Steam. The free-to-play card game will remain online into early 2025, when it will become completely inaccessible. Originally launched in 2017, the CCG was put "on hold" in 2019, with no updates since. While you can't download the game on Valve's storefront anymore, there's still a ray of hope if you want to take Legends for a spin before it's gone forever. Read the rest of the story... 3. Some of my favorite games deny me the thing I think I want most. Elden Ring refuses to provide manageable save files (and I paid for it). Balatro withholds the final math on each hand played (and its developer suggests avoiding calculators). And the modern X-COM games force me to realize just how much a 98% chance to hit is not the same as 100%. Dystopika (Steam, Windows) is a city builder in maybe the strictest definition of that two-word descriptor, because it steadfastly refuses to distract you with non-building details. The game is described by its single developer, Matt Marshall, as having "No goals, no management, just creativity and dark cozy vibes." Dystopika does very little to explain how you should play it, because there's no optimal path for doing so. Your only job is to enjoy yourself, poking and prodding at a dark cyberpunk cityscape, making things that look interesting, pretty, grim, or however you like. It might seem restrictive, but it feels very freeing. [Hidden Content] Dystopika launch video. The game's interface is a small rail on the left side of the screen. Select "Building" and a random shape attaches to your cursor. You can right-click to change it, but you can't pick one. Place it, and then optionally place the cursor near its top to change its height. Making one building taller will raise smaller buildings nearby. Reaching certain heights, or densities, or something (it's not explained) will "unlock" certain new buildings, landmarks, and decorations. Read full article Comments View the full article

  5. Old-school Apple fans probably remember a time, just before the iPhone became a massive gaming platform in its own right, when Apple released a wide range of games designed for late-model clickwheel iPods. While those clickwheel-controlled titles didn't exactly set the gaming world on *****, they represent an important historical stepping stone in Apple's long journey through the game industry. Today, though, these clickwheel iPod games are on the verge of becoming lost media—impossible to buy or redownload from iTunes and protected on existing devices by incredibly strong Apple DRM. Now, the classic iPod community is engaged in a quest to preserve these games in a way that will let enthusiasts enjoy these titles on real hardware for years to come. Perhaps too well-protected The short heyday of iPod clickwheel gaming ran from late 2006 to early 2009, when Apple partnered with major studios like *****, Square Enix, and Electronic Arts to release 54 distinct titles for $7.49 each. By 2011, though, the rise of iOS gaming made these clickwheel iPod titles such an afterthought that Apple completely removed them from the iTunes store, years before the classic iPod line was discontinued for good in 2014. Providing increased firepower to max your damage potential, the machine is hidden well within the massive map of the island strip, and you'll need to activate it before it's of any use. Getting it running is worth the trouble for those seeking its benefits, which starts with restoring power to Terminus. View the full article

Many PS5 games only allow online play with other PS5 games, and the same is true for other consoles. View the full article

  18. There are 12 maps of varying sizes in Phasmophobia, but players may notice the Daily Tasks often challenge them to play on a Medium Map. The size of the map in Phasmophobia often elevates the difficulty of an investigation, as larger maps make it more challenging to find the ghost and easier to lose sanity, which in turn can cause the ghost to initiate hunts more frequently. The size of a map in Phasmophobia is usually determined by the number of rooms, with the smallest being 6 Tanglewood Drive, which has only 10, and the largest, Sunny Meadows, which has 69. 21. BioWare currently has no plans for downloadable Dragon Age: The Veilguard expansions, seemingly scuttling any hopes for DLC on the order of fan-favorite releases like Trespasser or Awakening. Instead, Rolling Stone reports that BioWare's "full attention has shifted entirely to the next Mass Effect" now that Dragon Age is officially out in the wild. While BioWare didn't offer any follow-up details in Rolling Stone's report, IGN understands that the studio plans to support The Veilguard with quality-of-life improvements and a handful of smaller content updates. We have reached out to EA for more details. BioWare's decision not to release a DLC expansion may come as a surprise given its history with Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Baldur's Gate 2. DLC episodes like Mass Effect 2's Lair of the Shadowbroker, the Dragon Age 2 prequel Leliana's Song, and the aforementioned Trespasser include some of BioWare's best-loved stories, offering a deeper look at their worlds and characters. But having finally finished its decade-long journey with The Veilguard, BioWare seems ready to focus its attention on Mass Effect, which has been largely on hold due to the studio focusing all of its efforts on shipping Dragon Age. In the meantime, fans are busy digging into BioWare's latest RPG after Dragon Age's release on Thursday, propelling it to new highs for an EA game on Steam. They have plenty to find even without DLC — estimates on IGN sister site HowLongToBeat suggest that it can take upwards of 88 hours to complete the main story while doing sidequests. We wrote in our review, "Dragon Age: The Veilguard refreshes and reinvigorates a storied series that stumbled through its middle years, and leaves no doubt that it deserves its place in the RPG pantheon.
