  1. Ubisoft hopes the recent *********'s Creed Shadows delay will help "change the narrative" around the developer, while also addressing the perceived inconsistency of its releases. With Shadows coming off the back of an incredibly tough 2024 for Ubisoft, the studio is doing all it can to right the ship with its most well-known series. Both Prince of Persia The Lost Crown and Star Wars Outlaws didn't meet Ubisoft's expectations this year, so the studio is changing its strategy with *********'s Creed Shadows. 5. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is being review bombed by ****** gamers on review aggregate site Metacritic. Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched a whopping 10 years after Dragon Age: Inquisition hit store shelves, and has so far earned mostly positive reviews from critics. 6. Although the Baldur's Gate 3 cast has become very popular collectively, Astarion has proved to be a standout in the party, so much so that actor Neil Newbon earned a Game Award for Best Performance in 2023 for his role as everyone's favorite Vampire Spawn. Astarion has been reprised in many animated shorts, Dungeons and Dragons one-shots, and even a parody advert for "Only Fangs." He's always enjoyed when he's about, but there's much more to him than his sassy charm, great hair, and somewhat cat-like personality in fact, Astarion seems to overcome his own prejudice. 15. With the news that half of the standard legal Magic: the Gathering sets printed in 2025 will be Universes Beyond products, Wizards of the Coast has signalled that original Magic settings and characters are going to be an ever-shrinking component of a cross-franchise toybox. While dedicated lore lovers are outraged, I think this has merely exposed a long-existing fault-line: that Magic's success as a game has never relied on the strength of its fictional world. 19. Image: Motion Twin Some of the most beloved roguelikes are single-player — the likes of Hades, Balatro, and ***** Cells are all solo titles. But Windblown, the new roguelike from Motion Twin, the studio that created ***** Cells, showed me just how cool it can be to play a roguelike with other people. In Windblown, your character, one of a few adorable animal adventurers like an axolotl or a bat, is shot out of a cannon into a mysterious giant tornado to ****** your way through various zones. 23. I played an hour of Sworn at Gamescom, and I didn't want to put it down. Of all the many new roguelike games following in the powerful footsteps of Supergiant's Hades, the Arthurian spin on the format from Windwalk Games and Team17 is one of the closest to its inspiration mechanically. Yet that's certainly no bad thing, and with a fantastic amount of build variety, excellent art design, the option to play in co-op multiplayer with a group of up to four, and a pitch-perfect choice of setting, Sworn has my attention. If you're curious, you can try it for free on Steam right now, but you'll need to be fast. Read the rest of the story... 24. The Monster Hunter Wilds beta hasn't been going down well on PC.
