  2. Back in August, Berlin-based developers Maschinen-Mensch announced their latest game, Mother Machine. Described as a co-op platformer with roguelike elements centered around some rather wild and crude main characters, it stood out compared to the Curious Expedition games that the team has previously been known for. So it's quite the ambitious change of pace, but one doesn't exactly head in such a new direction without at least making sure things are set to be on the right track, and that's why Maschinen-Mensch have now announced an open beta playtest for Mother Machine to be held in November, as announced via the trailer below. 3. You could call my time huddled in front of a CRT screen, constantly flitting between ****** Bandicoot and Spyro games, a sign of misspent youth, but I wouldn't be here right now otherwise. That's why I'm delighted to say that the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is finally available on Game Pass, and well worth a go for new and old platformer fans alike. Read the rest of the story... If you haven't played the turn-based RPG yet, which is inspired by Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, and a little bit of Diablo, now is definitely the time. Combining a smart, funny story, some unique twists on combat, and a seriously beautiful visual style, Sea of Stars has just been effectively remade. Battles are better, the prologue has been expanded, new difficulty settings are available, and you can now play the entire campaign with friends thanks to co-op mode. Read the rest of the story... 6. You read that headline right, Fortnite OG is back for good. Epic Games just dropped a surprise announcement confirming that the once limited-time revival of the battle royale game's early days is making a return, and this time it's here to stay. It also sounds as though multiple OG seasons will be a part of the new permanent game mode, so I'd expect to see Epic rotate through early content on a loop. 12. My hopes are high for GTA 6. We're going back to Vice City (albeit a reimagined, modernized version) and, based on Red ***** Redemption 2, Rockstar's ability to spin a convincing, epic ****** drama has only gotten better in the past ten years. But the shadow of the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition still looms large over my memory. The 'improved' visuals effectively robbed GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas of all their identity and atmosphere. Forget the bugs and other technical problems - even when they were running correctly, the new versions of the classic Grand Theft Auto games just looked worse. But now, thanks to a surprise update from Rockstar, things have suddenly improved. Read the rest of the story... 14. Farming Simulator 25 has finally arrived. As with the yearly releases, the game is a bit pricey for the average gamer who might be looking to try it out or see what all the fuss is about. While versions of the franchise and different farming-like games have graced Xbox Game Pass for console and PC in recent years, fans of this installment might be disappointed with the answer. 15. A load of new Intel CPU specs have just been leaked, revealing that the company is potentially cooling up seven new chips to expand the Arrow Lake lineup. If the specs are right, all the new CPUs are going to be cool-running and power-efficient, and they're not going to be easily overclockable. The ***** comes soon after the Arrow Lake launch proved that Intel is struggling to make a good gaming CPU right now, even if the new chips have a decent amount of multi-threaded power. Indeed, as we found in our Core Ultra 7 265K review, the new Intel Arrow Lake architecture really struggles with gaming, and if these leaked specs are correct, then these new Intel chips are going to be even worse, with extremely low clock speeds. The plus side is that the CPUs appear to have extremely low heat output, with the new Core Ultra 9 285T reportedly having a thermal design power (TDP) of just 35W, as does another T-branded chip, the Core Ultra 7 265T. 19. A surprise winner for me at Gamescom this year was Towerborne, the new co-op action RPG from Xbox Game Studios and Stoic, developer of The Banner Saga. A dramatic departure from that game, this colorful, loot-led romp combines satisfying combat inspired by fighting games and soulslikes with stat-rich gear reminiscent of ARPGs like Diablo. The result is a package that's simple to get into but offers plenty of depth if you want it. Its new update ratchets up the level cap and the threat alike, so I sat down with the team to discuss the changes and what ***** ahead. Read the rest of the story... 21. Rockstar issued a surprise update for GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition today, November 12 — nearly two years since the last one. GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, a 2021 compilation of 2001’s Grand Theft Auto 3, 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and 2004’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, was heavily criticized upon launch on PC and console. IGN’s GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition review returned a 5/10. We said: “GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition is defective, disappointing, and surprisingly disrespectful to three classic games and their many legions of fans.” In contrast, the mobile versions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, released in December last year, met with critical acclaim. Players praised the ports for fixing several issues found on the console and PC versions, including lighting, shadows, reflections, and draw distance. A Rockstar Games blog post published at the time mentioned that these ports include a new classic lighting mode "that restores the look and feel of the sky in the original games." Now, finally, this classic lighting option is in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on PC and console. Early reports indicate sweeping visual improvements across the board that are already going down well with fans. The #GTA Definitive Editions just got an update which added the classic lighting option. Not gonna lie, it actually looks nice on a screen ******* than a phone. I'll test now to see if the same problems still exist with it though like they did on mobile a year ago... [Hidden Content] — TJGM (@TJGM_) November 12, 2024 I just checked it! 22. My strongest and most enduring memory of Grand Theft Auto will always be creasing into complete hysterics watching my mate pile into a crumpled police officer with a wooden baseball bat in GTA 3 after school one time. Young’uns these days just don’t appreciate how revolutionary it was to be able to hit a cop with a thing after he’d already fallen over. Suffice it to say I’ve got good memories of the open world series’ nascent forays into 3D, though never enough to tempt me into revisiting them, especially given the poor reception to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. I can sympathise. I’m annoyed just having to type a semicolon and a dash in the same game name. If you’re in a similarly non-fussed position (I will never not be annoyed that ‘nonplussed’ doesn’t mean what it sounds like it should mean) I can’t imagine a lighting update that’s been available on the mobile versions for a while is enough to tempt you back. But what is a reporter's job if not pathetically treading water between chunklets of Grand Theft Auto news, upon the publishing of which Graham presses the button to release the nutritious pellets on which we all wholly subsist? I hope he doesn’t read that last sentence. I don’t get my pellet if the syntax becomes too convoluted. Moving swiftly on. Read more View the full article

  25. Cyberpunk 2077 has a plethora of different quests for players to embark upon, from the short but sweet Gigs to the more story-heavy side and main quests. These help to flesh out V as a character and develop Night City itself, with every Gig getting V closer to the various Fixers and their backstories and each side mission expanding upon the enormous cast of memorable characters. However, there is one mission type in Cyberpunk 2077 that is completely immersion-breaking, which is a shame, as they're actually quite fun. View the full article
