  1. Microsoft has unveiled a new set of perks that have gone live for subscribers of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier. Each month, Xbox provides a set of cosmetic packs and bonus content that Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can pick up at no additional cost. These are usually small goodies like ******* skins and outfits for live service games, but they can sometimes include useful in-game items as well. View the full article

  3. Remember Kathy Rain? Developed by the Sweden-based Clifftop Games and published by Raw Fury, it was a modern point-and-click adventure game set in the '90s and centered around a ******* mystery that feels like it just came out yesterday...even though it first arrived in 2016 (although a Director's Cut edition of the game arrived a few years back in 2021). Well, it may have taken a while, but Kathy is now properly back with Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer, revealed during today's MIX Fall Showcase. And as seen in the announcement trailer below, things are getting even more intense for Kathy... View the full article
  4. In the years since Dark Souls first hit the scene, the action RPG genre has been overrun with "Souls-like" games that emulate FromSoft's general vibe. That often applies not just to dark settings and punishing difficulty but also to the slow, deliberate management of every movement and ******* to survive even simple encounters with your life and stamina intact. While that approach definitely has its place, sometimes you want an action-RPG with a little more ******, a little faster pacing, and a little more, well, action. After spending a few hours with Avowed, it already feels like just the thing for action-RPG fans who want something a little less Souls-like. All politics is local From the start, Avowed is layered with all of the vaguely medieval high fantasy tropes you'd expect from a game spun off from the Pillars of Eternity universe. Your protagonist is a "****-like," touched in the womb by mysterious immortal beings that gave you mysterious powers but also a disfigured face that led you to be bullied as a child. Eventually, you grow up to be an envoy to the King of Aedrys and are sent over the sea to the lightly civilized Living Lands to investigate a mysterious fungal plague that is turning animals and soldiers alike into unruly, rage-filled beasts. 5. In Ark: Survival Ascended, one of the most annoying things can be storing and moving dinosaurs before access to Cryopods, which is why some mods give better alternatives at earlier points. Though Crypods can be unlocked at level 51, they can be expensive to make for some and tedious for others. This is why many mods focus on a cheaper and easier experience that lightens the load of one of Ark's less important features. View the full article
  6. ****** Ops 6 developer Treyarch made many Call of Duty players happy with yesterday’s surprise announcement that Ranked Play was going live earlier than scheduled, but the joy was short-lived. It didn’t take long for CoD players to begin posting clips of and complaining about players that they thought were cheating, a situation exacerbated by the fact that crossplay cannot be turned off in the competitive ladder mode. In the past, players on console have been able to largely avoid cheaters by turning crossplay off, leaving PC players to fend for themselves against those who install cheats like aimbots or wallhacks on their computers. But now, there’s nothing to prevent all players from being grouped together, regardless of platform. View the full article

  8. My time with Stalker 2 has been difficult. I've had to battle the horrors of The Zone, anomalies that hide in plain sight, and the survival game's many technical issues to keep my head above water. 10. Look out, AMD, because Qualcomm is coming for your crown. During an annual investor day, Qualcomm executives shared that the company plans to ship $4 billion worth of CPUs for the laptop and PC market by 2029, placing it very close to AMD's current regular revenue from Ryzen gaming CPUs. If that came to pass, it might suggest AMD's supremacy over the gaming CPU market could be in danger. While the company has been trouncing Intel in the battle to produce the best gaming CPU in recent years, the duopoly is under threat from new pretenders like Qualcomm. Newer, energy efficient Arm CPUs, like Qualcomm's Snapdragon X, are quickly gaining steam, especially in laptops and mobile devices. Read the rest of the story... 11. With the launch of a major update for Xbox Cloud Gaming, fifty games will be available to stream on the service, including Cyberpunk 2077. Originally released in 2020, Cyberpunk's troubled launch has arguably been redeemed by multiple years of support from developer CD Projekt RED, including multiple major reworks of the game's systems, the addition of new content, and the release of the critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty DLC. While updates for the game have all but ended as CDPR looks towards a sequel, the completed version is still making its way to new platforms. View the full article
  12. Genshin Impact is making a major change to world bosses in Version 5.3, as the latest beta build reveals that players will no longer need to teleport away to trigger a respawn. While half the equation in Genshin Impact is pulling for one's favorite characters, the other half is about building them up from scratch. However, the process of grinding Artifact Sets, gathering local specialties, and ******** world bosses can be grueling. As a result, the developers have attempted to slowly address the issues and streamline the leveling process in Genshin Impact. View the full article

  14. I go through this life burdened by the knowledge that I will never be framed for ******* on a luxurious, multiple-day train journey. Not for me the thrill of flushing out the true culprit (or culprits???) between visits to the exquisitely upholstered dining car, against the backdrop of passing mountains. The best I can hope for is getting chewed out for hogging the ******* on a crowded commuter train to Leeds. Read more View the full article

  17. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a watershed moment for video games. 18. Throughout Stalker 2, whether it's a main quest, a side mission, or just a random encounter with another person in The Zone, you'll often have a choice in how you interact with them. 25. Does Stalker 2 have multiplayer? Exploring a hostile environment can be a huge detriment to your health, and The Zone is no exception. There seemingly isn't a single being in the wasteland that doesn't want to tear you limb from limb. A lot of the time, the only thing you can rely on is yourself, and the ******* in your hand. Multiplayer could change that, but does Stalker 2 have it? We quite enjoyed Stalker 2, but one evident thing is that the survival game can be a lonely place sometimes. Sure, there are Stalker 2 missions to go on, creepy basements to explore, and abandoned cities to wander, but we can't shake the feeling that bringing a friend or two along would lift the mood a little, if nothing else.
