I felt it the most keenly when I played Civilization Revolution, this ongoing problem with Firaxis's 4X icon - and other games like it - whereby interactions with other nations are too limited. In the Civilization games of old, including Civ 6, diplomacy is often a case of just trading a few resources for time-limited favors. It doesn't feel grand. Marvel Rivals Season 1 is upon us, and with it comes new heroes, new maps, and some pretty interesting buffs and nerfs. In the run-up to its release, I got to check out this season, and while the new heroes may be a little broken and a pain to play against, they are also incredibly fun. New AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D gaming CPUs could have been produced with even better specs, but to do so would have made them far too expensive. That's according to AMD, who stated at CES this week that its new Ryzen 9000X3D series only has a single 3D V-Cache, rather than a long-speculated dual configuration, to keep them cheap enough to make and sell for gamers. The inclusion of the 3D V-Cache into Ryzen CPUs has given AMD the edge over Intel in recent years, when it comes to gaming performance, with its flagship models regularly reaching the top of best gaming CPU charts. However, while it makes sense for the likes of the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D to only feature a single 3D V-Cache - as that chip only has one CPU die - higher-end models that use two CPU dies could in theory host two cache dies, yet AMD has chosen not to implement this option. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a ******* and bolder RPG every single way, and after playing the game’s opening few hours, we’re hungry for more. The game opens immediately following the end of the first, with Henry and Hans Capon setting off across medieval Europe to deliver a message. Things quickly go wrong after Henry’s group is ambushed by traveling bandits. Hans and Henry manage to escape with the help of a local medicine woman, but Henry’s badly damaged in a fall, thus setting the player up to lose most of what Henry leaned in the first game. It’s a bold opening that both establishes Henry and Hans well and resets the stakes so that the player can build a character again. Henry, Hans and the rest of the group sit around the campfire in the game’s opening hour recounting their past adventures, which brings new players into the game, and also allows players to decide early what kind of person they want Henry to be. It’s been some time since I first picked up and played Kingdom Come Deliverance when it released in 2018, and returning to Henry’s story seven years later in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is delightful. There’s a lot more polish to it in the combat, precision gameplay of crafting, and bow hunting feels significantly rewarding, showing how much care and time the Warhorse Studios team has put in. That’s only after my first initial hours, and there’s still so much to explore. Not only is there more polish to Kingdom Come 2, but the developers have a good way to reintroduce players to the larger world of 15th-century Bohemia as it sits in the middle of a drastic civil war between brothers Wenceslaus and Sigismund. Thankfully, you don’t have to have played or completed the first game to appreciate this sequel, but it certainly gives an expectation of how grueling and unforgiving the gameplay can be for the uninitiated.
