  2. Mel Medarda, the daughter of Ambessa from Arcane, is the first new champion in League of Legends in 2025. She’s yet to join the game’s roster, though, which elevates the anticipation for her eventual launch. Silco paved the way for Arcane characters to arrive in Riot Games’ titles, with the Zaun Baron making his way to Teamfight Tactics after the release of the show’s first season. Three years later, alongside the release of Arcane season two, Ambessa became the first character originating in the show to join League. Little did we know that the following champion released in the popular MOBA title would be Ambessa’s daughter, Mel. View the full article
  3. Nintendo may be getting ready to make its Switch 2 console official. According to "industry whispers" collected by Eurogamer, as well as reporting from The Verge's Tom Warren, the Switch 2 could be formally announced sometime this week. Eurogamer suggests the reveal is scheduled for this Thursday, January 16. The reporting also suggests that the reveal will focus mostly on the console's hardware design, with another game-centered announcement coming later. Eurogamer reports that the console itself won't be ready to launch until April; this would be similar to Nintendo's strategy for the original Switch, which was announced in mid-January of 2017 but not actually launched until March. A lot of things about the Switch 2's physical hardware design have been thoroughly leaked at this point, thanks mostly to accessory makers who have been showing off their upcoming cases. Accessory-maker Genki was at CES last week with a 3D-printed replica of the console based on the real thing, suggesting a much larger but still familiar-looking console with a design and button layout similar to the current Switch. However, to win, you only need to be in the top-six of points. This means you can win by combining last hits and avoiding deaths. 10. City building games come in so many flavors that it can be hard to pick just one. Cities Skylines puts you in charge of a modern metropolis, Manor Lords transports you back to the medieval age, and Frostpunk sends you to a cold, apocalyptic future. These might be some of the best games the genre has to offer, but Anno 1800 stands tall above the rest. If you've never played it I can't recommend the game enough, especially considering it's a staggering 75% off right now. Read the rest of the story... 11. Completing achievements is a great way to earn free rewards in Marvel Rivals. Some of these achievements task you with finding and interacting with specific items around various maps, as is the case with Mind Palace. This is one of the trickiest achievements to complete since it doesn’t tell you where Shuri’s findings can be found or that you have to listen to three of them to get it done. It’s a lot more doable once you know the exact steps you need to take, so here’s how to get the Mind Palace achievement in Marvel Rivals. View the full article

  15. Season one of Marvel Rivals launched on Jan. 10, adding two heroes, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman. Their addition only fueled the appetite of the players who are eager to see more of their favorite characters in the game, like Cyclops. It’s hardly surprising to see fans demand the X-Men leader in the ranks of Marvel Rivals heroes. The game currently features only six Mutants—not bad, given there are 35 characters currently available, which will rise to 37 with the release of Human Torch and The Thing. However, there’s plenty of room to introduce more representatives of mutantkind, and if NetEase wanted to do so, Cyclops seems like one of the most sensible options. And it actually could come true, looking at the recent leaks. View the full article

  21. How do you beat a water-cooled gaming PC? With a full immersion PC, of course, where you sink all of your components into a bath of liquid. It's a technique already used for servers, but Thermaltake showed off a couple of full-immersion gaming PC designs at CES 2025, including a mini-ITX model, and we're intrigued. While it may seem like anathema to immerse several grands' worth of electronic components in a case full of liquid, the dielectric coolant used in these systems ensures it won't conduct any electricity, and it also massively reduces temperatures. In fact, Thermaltake says the systems can reduce CPU and GPU temperatures by around 20°C compared to using one of the best AIO cooler designs. Read the rest of the story... If you're an Intel loyalist, this last-gen flagship continues to be one of the best gaming CPUs you can buy, especially with Intel Core Ultra 200 series CPUs, such as the Core Ultra 7 265K, underperforming for gaming on launch. 25. In more bad news for Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft’s open-world title is reportedly being outsold by 2023’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While early reviews for Star Wars Outlaws were largely positive when it launched last August, players have been less than thrilled about the game’s combat and stealth mechanics. Ubisoft would take note of those issues in later updates, but this sadly didn’t do much to placate those who disliked Star Wars Outlaws in the beginning. View the full article
