  1. There were plenty of exciting games showcased at this year's PlayStation State of Play, but one of the most standout trailers was the reveal of Tides of Annihilation. Seeming like a cross between Elden Ring and Final Fantasy 7, the upcoming action-adventure game by Eclipse Glow Games looks like it has the potential to reach the same legendary heights as its competitors. While there's no release date slated yet for the upcoming action-adventure Tides of Annihilation, there's already plenty to unpack from the footage that's been revealed. View the full article

  4. I found out, while researching this game, that the term 'Broken Arrow' is used when a nuclear weapon goes missing. More exciting, perhaps, is that there was a John Woo film of the same name released in the '90s featuring John Travolta and Christian Slater. The trailer is fantastic, even if the movie doesn't seem to be. This, I believe, has nothing to do with the RTS game Broken Arrow, but a man can dream. Read the rest of the story... 6. When you reach Shatterscarp and make your way to the town of Thirdborn, you'll encounter Chiko who is worried about their Uncle Keipo. He won't talk to anyone but hopes that a visit from a hero such as yourself may turn things around. After a quick conversation, Keipo requests you track down a Leviathan Heart from a temple where he set a bunch of different traps, so he can see it one last time before old age gets the better of him. But should you give Keipo the Leviathan Heart in Avowed? What happens if you give Keipo the Leviathan Heart in Avowed? Keipo will thank you for giving him the chance to kill himself before the Dreamscourge takes over and he risks killing Chiko and the other residents of Thirdborn. He'll say that Chiko will mourn him, but you've saved them a greater pain than they will ever know. Screenshot by Destructoid However, Chiko will be incredibly angry with you. They'll tell you they hope "the sands ******** you and you never come back to Thirdborn again!" So basically, not very well. The positive is that Keipo will give you Umpara's Spear, a unique weapon of exceptional quality. Screenshot by Destructoid I've listed the stats and the perks that it had for me below: Physical Damage: 88 Stun: 84 Stamina Cost: 13 Critical Hit Chance: 6% Enchantment 1: Deadly Mechanism - Power Attacks launch a poison dart. Enchantment 2: Strike the Heart - Critical Hit Damage +25% What happens if you don't give Keipo the Leviathan Heart? This was the option I went for. I chose to tell Keipo that I knew why he wanted the Leviathan Heart and his intentions to use it as a poison. I refused to give him the Leviathan Heart because I didn't want to play a part in his death. He'll tell you that "this path can only end badly for Chiko. Maybe the rest of Thirdborn, too. You may have doomed us all!" Screenshot by Destructoid After heading outside, you'll tell Chiko you didn't give him the Leviathan Heart. I offered to hold onto it and take it far away to keep it safe, to which they agreed. I also then told them that their Uncle Keipo wasn't just sick, he had the Dreamscourge and that he wanted to die before he turned. Keipo doesn't want to accept it and thinks there must be a way to stop it even if it were possible. With a 'Resolve' check, I told them there wasn't and we have to respect his choice, no matter how we feel about it. This puts Chiko in a predicament as they don't want him to suffer, but also don't want him to have the Leviathan Heart. After this, Chiko will tell you to take Keipo's armor. It was meant for them but they're not using it. This includes the following gear, with the following stats and enchantments: Stormdancer's ScaleMedium Armor, Unique, Superb Quality Damage Reduction: 15% Additional Damage Reduction: 47 Maximum Stamina: -25 Maximum Essence: -35 Sheltering Gale: 5% chance to avoid ranged damage Shock-Proofed: +30% resistance to Shock Accumulation Stormdancer's Gloves+10% Ability Cast Speed Thundering Blows: Power Attacks deal +5% bonus Shock Damage Stormdancer's Boots-10% incoming Fire, Frost, and Shock Damage Static Charge: +10% Shock Damage for 10 seconds after dodging Stormdancer's Ring+10% Shock Damage Screenshot by Destructoid Not only do you get to avoid playing a part in someone's death, but you also quite a lot of powerful gear. Which decision gives you the best outcome in the Heart of Valor side quest? From playing through both outcomes, I'd highly recommend not giving Keipo the Leviathan Heart in Avowed. While you might feel like you're morally obligated to let him end his life before the Dreamscourge takes hold of him, the rewards you get from refusing to give him the Leviathan Heart and telling Chiko that their uncle has the deadly plague and wanted to put himself out of his misery, saving the town from a potential outbreak, are far better. Plus, this way, you'll allow Chiko to spend as much time with Keipo before he passes away. It might not be as pleasant a way to go out, but if you're just in it for the physical rewards, this is the option to choose. If you feel more morally obliged to let Keipo go out on his terms, then feel free to give him the Leviathan Heart. His spear is still pretty viable at this stage in the game, but it didn't work for my playstyle. I will say, however, that Avowed's side quests can have consequences that aren't immediately apparent. With Keipo also saying you might have doomed all of Thirdborn, I can't help but feel there's a chance not giving him the Leviathan Heart might come to haunt you further down the line. If there are any long-term consequences I encounter from having refused to give Keipo the Leviathan Heart, I'll update this article to let you know. That's everything you need to know on the Leviathan Heart decision in the Heart of Valor side quest in Avowed. Looking for more side quest advice? We've got you covered with guides on whether to confront the smugglers or report the refugees, the Dawntreader side quest decision, and all medallion locations for the Lost Suoles quest. 7. One of the bits of side content you can do in Avowed is tracking down the 'Ancient Memory' hiding away in each region. Not only do these provide a little more background and contextual lore to the Godlike, you'll also get some very useful Godlike abilities in the process. Plus, who doesn't enjoy going on a bit of a scavenger hunt? Well, maybe you if you're on this guide, so to save you some time, here's the Voice's memory location in Shatterscarp. Shatterscarp ancient memory location in Avowed The Voice's memory can be found at the very top of the 'Twin Offerings Overlook' in the southeast corner of the map, just west of the Sand Sea Oasis. I've marked the exact location in the screenshot below. Screenshot by Destructoid The 'Twin Offerings Outlook' is also where you'll go for the Xaurip Chief Grithin bounty, and getting this memory is best done immediately after defeating Grithin. That's because it's a bit of a trek up to the top, but if you've not got up there yet, look for the red wooden ramp on the east side of the mountain. Screenshot by Destructoid You'll now need to follow this wooden ramp as it weaves its way up to the top of the outlook. At times, jumps can come right after you turn corners, so take it slow the first time up to avoid falling to your death. Eventually, you'll climb a ledge and face off against Chieftain Grithin. Watch out as his melee attack can send you flying backward and, if you're not careful, off the edge of the cliff and to your death (speaking from experience here!). Once you've defeated Grithin in the Xaurip camp right toward the top of the outlook, you should see another ledge you can climb up. Before you go any further, you should see a little shrine right in front of you with some fish and other foods laid out. Alongside these, is the Hel's Tongue, a two-handed, exceptional quality, unique sword. Screenshot by Destructoid Follow this path and you'll eventually reach the summit of the outlook with the 'Ancient Memory' under a fancy-looking archway right on the edge, shown in the screenshot below. Walk on over to it and press X and you'll begin the cutscene where you can 'fill in the gaps' when prompted by The Voice. Screenshot by Destructoid After learning more of the story, you'll be rewarded with another Godlike Ability. For me, it was the 'Remembrance of Nimanna' ability, which increases your Maximum Stamina by 10%. That's everything you need to know to track down the Voice's memory in the Shatterscarp region. We've also got guides on the Voice's memory location in Dawnshore, and where to find the Cartographers in Dawnshore and Emerald Stair. 8. It's a hard thing to face, but let's face it together - The Elder Scrolls 6 is probably still a long way off. On the brighter side, we must be closer to the finish line than the starting blocks, given that it was revealed five and a half years ago at this point. Lord, I hope we are. I've been loosely optimistic that we'll hear more about TES 6 in 2025, and Bethesda has just (kinda) proved me right. Before you get too excited, no, it's not a new trailer, gameplay details, or even a vague Todd Howard quote. What it is though is an opportunity for you to be immortalized in The Elder Scrolls 6 as one of the game's NPCs. Read the rest of the story... Now that Elden Ring Nightreign's network test is complete and some players have actually had a chance to experience the gameplay for themselves, it's pretty clear that party balance is going to be incredibly important - maybe more than it should be. 16. Gold represents the main form of currency in Civilization 7, and it plays a pretty important role in determining the success of your kingdom. Irrespective of civilization and age, Gold is always going to be extremely crucial to determining your success as a grand strategist. From creating new buildings to producing units, it will ultimately boil down to how much resource you have. Best ways to earn Gold in Civilization 7 There are different ways to obtain Gold, but certain ways are going to be far more efficient. Endeavors with Leaders: Endeavors are going to be one of the first methods of getting Gold, and it's also one of the most consistent ways to do so. When you meet a leader, click on their portrait. You'll want to focus on all the available Endeavors and the Open Markets type. This specific type of Endeavors will allow you to earn a fixed amount of Gold every turn. Additionally, establishing good relationships with other leaders in the form of Endeavors will also help you to benefit from improved Trade Relations, which in turn allows you to get more resources. Use of Resources: Resources play an important role in determining how much Gold you can get. You can allocate resources to your settlements to earn Gold passively. Certain resources with a "+4" or higher towards Gold should be your priority. Screenshot by Destructoid Use of Buildings: Just like certain resources, specific buildings in your settlements will allow you to earn Gold passively at every turn. As you advance through the ages, you'll be able to unlock plenty of buildings and build them to make your settlement richer. Policies on Government Styles: Your style of administration policy-making will have an important say on how much Gold you get to earn. The best decision is to just focus on the economy, as you'll be able to focus more towards earning Gold. You can do so by boosting the earned Gold over certain turns or improving production. Similarly, focus on Social Policies that allow the use of Specialists to get more Gold. You can also research Civics to get more Policy slots. Prioritize Economic Attributes: Once you unlock Economic Attributes, earning Gold will become a lot easier. You'll be able to earn more resources passively and from exchanges, but this method will be available once you're in the endgame of a specific campaign. Having ample Gold will allow you to better manage Crisis Events like Plagues when they take place. Doing so will, in turn, allow you to achieve one of the different victory paths that are available in the game.
