Marvel Rivals' mid-season update has introduced a lot of new content for the players to enjoy, and they can obtain the Carved Traveler Groot skin absolutely free of cost. The new cosmetic is one of the many additions made as part of the latest patch. The process of unlocking the skin also relies heavily on its comic-inspired design. Let's take a look at how to unlock the new skin and add it to your in-game collection. How to unlock Carved Traveler Groot skin Marvel Rivals The new Groot skin is part of the Midnight Features 2 event challenges, which are now live inside the game. If you have played the game before this, you'll know what to expect. If you're new or joining the game for the first time, the tasks will be displayed in the form of panels that appear like something straight out of a comic book. The Midnight Features 2 event will continue throughout Season 1.5. Once you go to the Event section, you'll be able to check out all the questlines available in the form of a magazine. Each section has a unique investigation that you'll need to complete. Every investigation has certain missions, and you'll have to complete all of them to move on to the next milestone. Image via Destructoid Any investigation that's currently available as of writing will have its normal appearance. If they're locked, the appearance will change into a ****** and white panel. To obtain the Carved Traveler skin, you'll need to complete all five investigations that are part of the Midnight Features event. Hence, you'll need to be patient and continue to grind the latest season in order to add the skin to your collection permanently. Do note that Groot's new skin is available on the fifth page itself. The final page doesn't include any other rewards, but the new skin and its appearance is certainly worth putting in the grind. In total, we've discovered 15 Unique Trinkets to collect in Avowed. Here is a list of them all with info on where to find them and what they do. Unique Trinkets can vary in form and usually have the golden ‘Unique’ rarity tag next to their names in your inventory. You’ll get the following clue from Sanza to help if you purchase the Fragment of the Scales Quest Item from his store in Paradis Hightown: “Atop the isle of wicked outlaws, flicker golden flames of a glorious cause”. Specifically, you need to travel to the Golden Flames location by following these steps: Start at the Ondra’s Reach Beacon, on the south coast of Paradis. Make your way east and jump into the water when you see the remains of a capsized boat. Swim to Castol’s Folly, there should be a path straight ahead. Walk past the shipwreck and jump across the various wooden platforms. Continue up and around the path until you encounter a bandit camp. Defeat the enemies here. Continue up and around the various camps, turning left at the half-sunken house and Animancer’s Journal. Turn left at the sunken silo, towards the brazier. Platform to the next pathway. Round the corner and you’ll see a golden light on top of a blanket overlooking the island. This is where you can pick up the Golden Flames. Where to find Fletcher Kane in Fortnite Fletcher Kane is a unique Fortnite boss; he doesn't spawn in one specific location. Instead, he'll spawn at his armored train, truck, or one of his vaults during each match. Which of these spots he appears at is random, but you'll know where he is by checking your map and looking for a wolf icon. Screenshot by Destructoid However, you won't find Fletcher Kane right away. Whether it's a vault, armored truck, or a train, you'll need to initiate the heist and get through at least two phases before he spawns. His appearance is sudden, intended to catch you off guard and result in a swift elimination. That is, unless you're prepared for his attacks and know how to counteract them. Tips for defeating Fletcher Kane in Fortnite The first step in defeating Fletcher Kane is anticipating his arrival. He'll appear around halfway through an active heist. He also has a mix of ranged and melee attacks alongside a hefty amount of health to take down. Screenshot by Destructoid How you take him down will depend on what gear you have in hand. Nearly any gun is effective against Fletcher Kane, as is the Kneecapper if you use it right. He can quickly shred your health if you're in his line of fire, so make sure you have full shields. Similarly, if a grunt NPC or player wanders into the fight zone, they can eliminate you before you can defeat Fletcher Kane and grab his medallion. In other words, watch your surroundings, ensure you have enough ammo for multiple guns, and don't be afraid to run away and regain some shields if you start reaching low health. What does the Unstoppable Medallion do in Fortnite? Screenshot by Destructoid Upon defeating Fletcher Kane, he'll drop a Mythic pistol and the Unstoppable Medallion. The Unstoppable Medallion increases your sprint speed significantly, which is buffed even more if you're holding a Kneecapper. You'll also knock back any enemies you sprint into, catching them off guard and inflicting fall damage if they fly off a mountain. It's a solid medallion, especially if you have a Kneecapper and can spend the rest of the match sprinting around Fortnite's map and swiftly eliminating anyone who comes near you. How good would an Elden Ring movie be? What if George R.R. Martin wrote the script? Well, we might never know. In an interview with IGN, George R.R. Martin admitted that "there is some talk about making a movie out of Elden Ring." He played a key role in the game’s worldbuilding, and Martin worked closely with FromSoftware during development. However, he acknowledges that writing a movie script would likely only happen after he finishes The Winds of Winter—the long-overdue sixth entry in A Song of Ice and Fire, the series that inspired Game of Thrones. He is 13 years behind schedule, and while he has admitted he may never finish it, he still treats completing the book as his top priority. That makes it unlikely he would write a rumored Elden Ring movie script anytime soon. Screenshot by Destructoid FromSoftware’s past comments also hint about an Elden Ring movie While George R.R. Martin has been cautious about discussing an Elden Ring adaptation, FromSoftware has hinted at the possibility at least twice. In June 2024, Elden Ring game director Hidetaka Miyazaki told The Guardian: "I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example." However, he noted that FromSoftware doesn’t have the expertise to make a film and that it would require a “very strong partner” to bring it to life. While George R.R. Martin could be one of those key collaborators, Miyazaki was likely referring to an entire movie production company as well. Later, in December 2024, Miyazaki remained vague about Elden Ring’s future in an interview with Japanese website Game Watch but didn’t deny anything: "At this point, we are not considering an Elden Ring 2," he said. "However, that does not mean we are ruling out further developments for the Elden Ring IP. As for what comes next, FromSoftware, as always, has multiple projects in progress." Elden Ring Nightreign, in its network test form, doesn't yet have every feature that might be expected of a co-op experience. Although it looks like external voice chat systems will have direct support, for example, I had no way to chat during the test *******, and the rigid requirement to venture out with exactly three players doesn't leave much room for friend groups of different sizes. In the brief time I've spent with the game so far, however, I actually found myself appreciating the lack of options, and I expect those fond memories to linger even after the full release.
