  3. I’ve seen Avowed criticized for not sharing some immersive elements with similar games, but I think these critiques often miss the point of what the game was trying to do. If you’ve followed the discourse around Avowed, you’ve likely seen quite a few comparisons to Skyrim. However, I think it’s misguided to think that Obsidian simply wanted to make their own version of an existing game and failed to do so. Many of the major differences stand out to me as deliberate design choices, made to prioritize fun over immersion. View the full article

  22. As always, Steam's Next Fest has provided a variety of upcoming games and demos that let you try them out before you decide if you want to add them to your wishlist. While there's no shortage of cozy games, you don't have to be a fan of them to enjoy Wanderstop, even though it's categorized as one. 23. The introduction of Investigations allows Monster Hunter Wilds players to engage in side activities, and you can enjoy them alone or with your friends. Investigations are different from normal bounties, as you can create them on your own. It allows you to target a monster you'd like to hunt but at a later stage. Alternatively, it also allows you to create customized hunts that can be enjoyed as co-op activities. This guide will explain all the steps required to create investigations. How to create an Investigation in Monster Hunter Wilds Creating an Investigation is simple, but you'll need to spend a few Guild Points at minimum. Open the map, and you'll find different monster icons on it. Interact with any icon you like, and select the "Save As Investigation" option. This will create an Investigation, and the amount of Guild Points used will vary depending on the rarity of the monster. If you're just getting started, you won't be able to create Investigations right away. To do so, you'll have to complete a high rank quest that requires capturing a Yian Kut-ku in Chapter 4. Once done, you'll be able to create Investigations when a monster appears on your World Map. Image via Destructoid How to play Investigation in Monster Hunter Wilds Once you've created at least one Investigation, go to Alma and select the Post/Join Quest menu. This window has many different activities for you to participate in, including investigations. Here, you'll find all the activities that you have created; choose one and begin your quest. Investigations also appear to be the only type of quests that can be completed in Linked Environments. Additionally, a single investigation can be completed more than once, but there's a limit on how many times you can do so. After several attempts, some of the created quests will disappear, and you'll have to create a fresh one with the help of the abovementioned process. If you're targeting specific monsters to catch, Investigations are extremely useful. Doing so allows you to get different resources, and some of them can be extremely useful. Make sure to check out our guide about crafting ingredients, as they will give you a fair idea about all the items that you can create on your own in the game. 24. Squad Battles might not be as competitive as Division Rivals and Champions, but they can be a great source of rewards for EA FC 25. With the recent buffs to the rewards, the aim is to score as many points as possible and possibly get a rank in Elite 3 or above. However, your targeted number of points can take a massive hit if the game crashes when you're inside a match. This problem has been exclusive to Squad Battles matches and plagues players on current and old-gen platforms. While EA Sports has yet to solve the problem permanently, I have found a few tricks to prevent it from happening. EA FC 25 Squad Battles crashes solved The exact cause of what causes the crashes in Squad Battles remains unknown six months into the release. Initially, I always encountered it in the current-gen version, but I have found the problem happening in the old-gen as well. The ****** happens whenever I start a new evolution and put the card in the active squad. Do note that this happens when you've started a new evolution, and the selected card is about to play the first game (after being drafted into the evolution). Keeping this in mind, here's what I usually do after starting an evolution. The best solution is to put the evolution card in your active squad (it can be on the bench) and start a game of either Champions or Division Rivals. It's not necessary to sub-in the card, but just to be safe, you can do that. Not only will this usually contribute towards advancing your evolution, but you should also be able to use the card safely in Squad Battles. Image via Destructoid If you don't want to play Division Rivals or Champions, it's best to clone your active squad first. Then, use the cloned squad to start your Squad Battles. This cloned squad will have the evolution item, but it shouldn't be causing the crashes. This perhaps has to do with the fact that you have also changed the squad (from the previously active one to the cloned one), which had the evolution item in it from the beginning. I have played over 60 games over the last couple of weeks (yes, it's way more than how much you're required to play for the points), and I have encountered zero crashes. While this method is not certified to work at all times (as any permanent solution has to arrive from EA Sports), it will hopefully reduce the incidences of your Squad Battles matches crashing randomly.
