  1. A Zenless Zone Zero leak is hinting at the two characters expected to appear on the re-run gacha banners for the game's Version 1.7 update. The urban action RPG from HoYoverse has added a plethora of unique and powerful new characters to the game since its initial launch in July, with more coming with every update. The launch of Version 1.6 will introduce three new characters with Silver Soldier Anby, Trigger, and Pulchra while HoYoverse has teased Vivian and Hugo Vlad for Version 1.7. Now, two popular past characters are set to make their first return. View the full article
  2. Call of Duty: Warzone appears to have confirmed the return of two iconic Modern Warfare assault rifles, the Kilo 141 and CR-56 AMAX, for Season 3. In a new video celebrating International Women's Day, the final few seconds feature two operators, one of which is a current ****** Ops 6 character, holding the iconic weapons, seemingly confirming that they will make a return in the next season of Call of Duty: Warzone. 3. Buildcrafting in Monster Hunter Wilds, and the series in general, is as central to the gameplay as fighting monsters is. And while each game introduces new Skills and adjusts old ones to shake up the meta, there are five you can always count on to improve a build. The five Skills you want on every Monster Hunter Wilds build Note that the Monster Hunter Wilds Skill meta is in flux as the community starts reaching the endgame and digging into the numbers. We'll be updating this article once the meta solidifies. The Skills we're listing here are the best workhorse options for almost any build you can dream up. Critical Eye Screenshot by Destructoid Critical Eye has always been a top-tier Skill because it only has one effect: increasing your build's Affinity. Affinity is the chance to score a critical hit with an attack. You'll know you've landed a crit by a bright pink star burst next to the damage number. Crits deal 25 percent additional damage. The Critical Eye Skill in Monster Hunter Wilds isn't quite as strong as it once was, with each stack only granting a four percent Affinity boost up to 20 percent. However, if you pair that bonus with wound damage, additional Affinity from your weapons, and other gear, you can potentially build into 50 percent Affinity or higher. One critical hit every two damage ticks adds up quickly. Critical Eye also helps out those weapons that start with negative Affinity. Negative Affinity gear often has a higher raw damage value to compensate for losing out on crit chance, and you'll deal 25% less damage if you hit within the negative Affinity zone. Keeping Critical Eye active can mitigate those chances significantly. Weakness Exploit Screenshot by Destructoid Weaknes Exploit, or WEX, got a modest but still statistically notable nerf in Monster Hunter Wilds. However, it's still one of the best generalist perks in the game, as its effects don't rely on specific actions or playstyles. Play the game in almost any way, and WEX will do the work. WEX's effect is simple. Hit an enemy's weak point (for yellow damage), and you get up to 30 percent extra Affinity on the hit. You also get up to a 20% bonus Affinity when hitting Wounds. That's it. It's always on, and if you're attacking a monster's head, limbs, and other squishy areas, WEX will always give you value. The only determining factor is the amount of damage it can modify, as it doesn't provide raw or elemental damage on its own. Agitator Screenshot by Destructoid Another endgame staple, Agitator, is the first on this list to require an in-hunt activation condition. Thankfully, that condition is very common. Agitator activates whenever a monster enters the Enrage state (almost always after a roar). Like WEX and Critical Eye, its effects are simple. While an enemy is Enraged, Agitator grants up to a flat +20 Attack and 15 percent additional Affinity. Combining it with WEX and Critical Eye can, therefore, easily get you to 100% in-hunt Affinity with almost no effort on your part. Agitator's biggest advantage is the flat Attack stat bonus. The higher your Attack, the more damage your weapons deal. While an additional 20 points to the stat doesn't seem like much, it does add up over time, and there's no upper limit on how high you can boost your Attack beyond what you can equip. Attack Boost Screenshot by Destructoid One of the simplest Skills in Monster Hunter Wilds, Attack Boost, or AB, does exactly what you think it does: boost your Attack stat. What's interesting about high levels of AB is how it scales your attack. The first three levels of AB grant a +3, +5, and +7 bonus to your Attack, but levels four and five instead increase your attack by two percent and four percent, respectively. Levels four and five also provide a +8 and +9 Attack stat bonus, respectively, that's retroactively calculated into the percent increase. In short, if you can, get to at least level four of Attack Boost for the much more generous damage increase. If you can't, it's not a huge deal. Even a few stacks of AB can go a long way. Critical Boost Screenshot by Destructoid Another simple Skill that pairs well with the other four listed here, Critical Boost also does exactly what you'd think: increases critical hit damage. Again, by default, a critical hit deals 25% additional damage. Critical Boost...boosts that damage by up to 40 percent at level five. Critical Boost has no activation requirement beyond you getting critical hits. It's always on, waiting for one to happen. Like WEX and Critical Eye, however, Critical Boost cannot increase your base damage. It only modifies what you can already do. Sure, it's a big modification, but if your raw damage is pitiful, your crits will be too. Monster Hunter Wilds Skills we're watching Screenshot by Destructoid Monster Hunter Wilds added a number of new perks to the pool with incredible potential. There are also a few old standbys worth watching as well. Burst provides a small raw and elemental damage boost on the first hit, increasing that bonus after five hits. On the right weapons (the Longsword, Dual Blades, and other fast-hitting options), it could be a real menace in the right hands. Flayer makes inflicting wounds easier and automatically deals a burst of non-elemental damage once you've dealt enough damage of your own. Wounds are a central mechanic to hunting Monster in Wilds, making Flayer a solid contender for the top tier.Resentment provides up to a flat +25 bonus to your Attack stat whenever you have red, recoverable health. This effect defined high-risk, high-reward gameplay in both Monster Hunter World and Rise, and it very well could again with Wilds.Evade Window increases the number of invincibility frames you receive when dodging. At the highest levels of play, the goal is to never be hit at all, and Evade Window trades damage for safety, which is antithetical to most endgame builds. For a larger audience, it might be a better, more comfortable choice.Coalescence increases your elemental damage and status buildup after you recover from a blight or status of your own. It was incredibly powerful in previous games in certain builds, regardless of the weapon you used, so I'll be curious to see if it makes a return to form in Wilds. Those are the Skills I'd recommend always having on hand regardless of what kind of build you're going for. They're easy to understand, easy or free to activate, and never truly go out of style. 4. FragPunk has an interesting set of lancers available for the players to pick from; some are better than the rest. The following tier list will help you differentiate the wolf from the sheep, as playing the best lancers will be more rewarding. All of them are better in their respective roles than the other options, and it makes sense to master them at first. Complete FragPunk tier list To differentiate between the lancers, I have opted for three tiers. S-tier: These are the best lancers available in FragPunk currently, and they're the top choices in their respective roles.A-tier: These great characters are some distance away from the top.B-tier: Decent characters with limitations in their kits, and you'll have to work hard to make them competitive in the general meta.FragPunk S-tier listBroker is one of the best characters to start the game with, as he is available for free. Moreover, his kit is easy to learn and perfect for understanding the different mechanics. Goddard's Vengeance does a decent amount of damage and knocks back enemies. His kit has a lot of throwable devices, allowing you to operate from a distance.Corona's kit is interesting, as the ability to teleport with Fast Lane has a lot of advantages. Combined with Hothead, the two moves are great for crowd control, while Ashes to Ashes does a fair amount of AoE damage and buffing Corona. Not the easiest lancer to learn, Corona is still great for players with decent skill.Kismet is a great support character, as Walk on the Wild Side turns her invisible and invulnerable for a short time. She's also good at finding enemies with the Hello Goodbye ability, which scans for enemies in front of her, while Misery Angel bypasses protections offered by barriers.Sonar is an A-tier character if you're playing solo. Her kit entirely depends on teammates, as Sound of Silence hides the noise of their footsteps. Both Sonic Surge and Echolocation can expose enemy locations, offering a rich strategic advantage to your team. Image via Bad Guitar Studio Fragpunk A-tier listPathogen is excellent for a supporting character, as Emotional Rescue does AoE heals, while Shroom Wall creates temporary blockades. She's not only about heals, as Killer Queen can trap enemies and deal damage over time. She's the only proper healer in the game and adds much value to a team.Serket might be one of the hardest lancers to learn inside the game. Her abilities from Station to Station hide and teleport her to her target's location, while Dilemma and Gold Dust Woman are good for nerfing the enemies' movements.Axon will be a delight for those who play a lot of shooters. Electric Guitar is essentially a shotgun that shoots sticky grenades. Landing a kill reloads the weapon, while you can also use Sticky Fingers to throw grenades that can bounce. He is a good choice for aggro players who believe that offence is the best defence.Zephyr is an S-tier character once you learn how to use her abilities. Midnight Rambler and Fade Away allow players to hide Zephyr, while Get Back allows her to create a location to instantly spawn back in case of danger. You'll have to know when to strike to succeed with her, as a false move could be extremely dangerous.Hollowpoint is simple but effective, as Meteora reveals enemies while charging up. Smoke Screen also does the same if an enemy gets caught in its path, while Paparazzi puts a trap on an enemy. Her offensive potential largely depends on how accurately you can aim with a mouse, but her potential to reveal enemies is an added benefit. Image via Bad Guitar Studio Fragpunk B-tier listNitro might be easy to learn, but her gadgets can be destroyed easily. While Chug Chug deploys a powerful drone, it can be destroyed easily.Chum faces the same problem as Nitro, as the enemy can destroy Chomper. Both Explosive Bait and Smoking bait are good at trapping enemies, but they have a limited scope of operations.Jaguar is one of the better blockers, as his Live Wire and Electric Avenue are good abilities for trapping and slowing down enemies. However, he's not a mobile lancer, and his skills rely heavily on how good your teammates are.Spider's ability to teleport enemies to your location is innovative, but mastering it can be a nightmare. You'll also need excellent coordination with your team to make the most out of your abilities. The post FragPunk tier list (Season 0): All lancers ranked appeared first on Destructoid. 6. A recent leak from Honkai: Star Rail is hinting at a major change coming to the game's limited gacha banner, making losing the 50/50 more rewarding for players. While the popular sci-fi RPG from HoYoverse occasionally gives out free characters through various events, the game's gacha system serves as its main way of adding new party members. 7. The action RPG Avowedis absolutely a return to form for Obsidian, as the developer has delivered the quality storytelling it is best known for, and it did so by avoiding the missteps of The Outer Worlds, a game where awkward attempts at forced humor badly undercut any investment in its story. Obsidian and BioWare both connect back to ****** Isle Studios, the publisher of the original Baldur’s Gate. Obsidian’s formative hits were sequels to BioWare-developed games, and Obsidian’s skilled storytellers arguably outdid BioWare in most cases. The shift to pursuing studio-owned Intellectual Property is an understandable one. View the full article

  25. Its ability to bring even the mightiest foes to heel via its Element Discharge combos saw the Charge Blade set itself as one of the most devastating weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. But contrary to other favorites like the Switch Axe and Longsword, getting a hang of the weapon can take a while. After all, enabling the above will demand that you first charge your elemental phials. Here's how to charge and the basics of how to use the Charge Blade in Monster Hunter Wilds. Table of contentsHow to charge the Charge Blade in Monster Hunter WildsHow to use the Charge Blade in Monster Hunter WildsHow to Perfect Guard and perform Charge Blade Power Clashes in MH WildsHow to charge the Charge Blade in Monster Hunter Wilds Image by Destructoid You can charge your Charge Blade phials in Monster Hunter Wilds by pressing R2 + O/RT + B while in Sword Mode. As you can guess, the move —which is simply referred to as Charge— can only be performed successfully after you generate enough Sword Energy via your sword mode attacks. It is also possible to gather multiple energy stacks in one go by performing the following Charged Attack: Double Dash combo: Hold O/B in Sword Mode + Release the input once your sword flashes red + Follow up with a weak strike (△/Y) for a few extra slashes and a good dose of extra energy. The colors of both your sword and the phials below your weapon durability meter will also serve as reminders of how many elemental charges you can gain via Charge, with yellow representing three, light red four, and red five. You can also overcharge your phials to get up to five extra by performing sword attacks following a successful charge. Image by Destructoid After infusing your phials with a charge, you will then be able to enter Axe Mode and perform the weapon's signature Element Discharge attacks by pressing O/B and △/Y + O/B. A few other ways to enter Axe Mode can be done by performing a Morph Slash (R2/RT + △/Y) or entering Power Axe Mode. The latter will lower the cost of your regular Element Discharge attacks by half and can be triggered in the following ways: By hitting wounds with a Focus Slash: Double Rend attack (L2/LT + R1/RB no matter your mode of choice). By performing a mounted Focus Slash (R1/RB) against a wound.By manually performing a Savage Axe Slash (△/Y) after a Perfect Guard. Keep in mind that switching to Axe Mode before performing a charge will not fill any phials. In the same vein, you can also enter Element Boost and enable a Super Amped Element Discharge attack by performing a Shield Element Boost (continue to hold O/B following a charge). Be aware, as the move will drain all of your charged phials. How to use the Charge Blade in Monster Hunter Wilds Although a highly technical pick, the game plan when using the Charge Blade is simple: you must focus on building up your phials before letting out its extremely destructive discharge combos at the right times. To mitigate the long animations the weapon is known for, use traps to lock targets and abuse blind spots when facing faster foes —make sure to also rely on Sword Mode for both mobility and its defensive capabilities. Image by Destructoid As performing a Charge will not lock you into Axe Mode, getting quick charges mid-combo is also a must here, so master that. Ideally, you should focus on building up a devastating offense by entering Power Axe Mode while having both Element Boost active and a large number of phials ready. How to Perfect Guard and perform Charge Blade Power Clashes in MH Wilds Image by Destructoid Now that we have our offense taken care of, it's time to focus on the basics of defense, aka the ability to guard, Perfect Guard, and trigger Power Clashes. Mastering this won't be hard, as you can guard by simply holding R2/RT while in Sword mode and Perfect Guard by hitting the input at the moment your foe's attack is about to hit you. Unlike a regular guard, a Perfect Guard will not consume weapon sharpness and negate all damage. The Power Clashes, on the other hand, can only be triggered by Perfect Guarding against certain attacks multiple times. Given that consistency, I don't recommend focusing on triggering the sequence at all. Instead, treat it as a welcome bonus for a solid defense, and don't take unnecessary risks.
