  1. When you think of the greatest space games, it's easy to default to scale. The thousands of planets of Starfield, the infinite galaxies of No Man's Sky, the swirling systems of Eve Online, and the sheer expanse of Elite Dangerous. Outer Wilds is different. It's smaller, tighter, meticulously designed down to the smallest grain of sand. Yet despite that, or perhaps because of it, developer Mobius Digital created the most enrapturing and memorable game about interstellar exploration ever made. Now, the team confirms that it's hard at work on something new. Read the rest of the story... 4. "Attacking is the most consistent element of Elden Ring Nightreign’s gameplay," says director Junya Ishizaki in a new PlayStation blog, explaining the choice to have players revive each other by hitting wounded mates with swords - a famously crucial tenet of the hippocratic oath. "We tested to see if it would work for resuscitation, and we discovered a wide variety of tactics depending on range, frequency, and probability, so we formally implemented it. We also found it quite amusing (laughs)." Read more View the full article
  5. Fire Force Reignition has a lot of systems, and one of those is the Clan system. A lot of new players don't understand the actual benefit of being in a Clan because, frankly, the game does a terrible job of explaining it, and they don't seem to do anything. Well, some, but not all, clans give you certain benefits, and being in a particular Clan can actually give you an advantage. So much so that we decided to give you a Complete Fire Force Reignition Clans Tier List. Table of contentsHow Clans Work in Fire Force ReignitionFire Force Online Clan Tier ListHow Clans Work in Fire Force Reignition Screenshot by Destructoid As soon as you start playing Fire Force Reignition, the game will randomly assign you to one of the clans. A Clan is, essentially, your last name. You can see which Clan you belong to when you look at the leaderboard. At first, you won't really understand what the benefit is. It's just a name, right? Well, yes and no. Most Clans in the game are, indeed, just names, but certain clans can give you passive buffs, and that's where Rare and Legendary Clans come in. The game randomly rolls a clan for you, and chances are, you're going to end up in a clan with no benefits. Here are the roll rates for all the clans: Common Clans: 84% Rare Clans : 15% Legendary Clans : 1% Screenshot by Destructoid As you can tell, in most cases, you'll end up in a Common Clan. Of course, the game is more than happy to let you reroll your clan... for a price (250 Robux). You can also sometimes get Clan rerolls by using codes. If you manage to roll a Rare or a Legendary Clan, you can get a buff that will apply to you as long as you keep your Clan's last name. Fire Force Online Clan Tier List Obviously, we aren't going to list every single Clan in the game (because Common ones don't give you any benefits), so this tier list is only going to include Rare and Legendary Clans along with their benefits. TierClan NameRarityBuff SS Dragon Legendary Your M1 and Heavy attacks do more damage. Always useful.SBurns Legendary You overheat slower, and your stamina regenerates faster. Super helpful if you find yourself overheating.SObi Legendary Path of Death and Steeled for Death mode durations are increased. It can be absolutely devastating.AShinmon Legendary Your dodge window is increased, and your counters do more damage. Great if you are good at countering.ABoyle Legendary Faster Stmina Regen and more EXP gain. The faster stamina helps a lot, and extra EXP is always nice.AKakame Rare Gain a damage buff when in a party. Really useful if you like to play with friends.BKusakabe Legendary Gain more EXP and grace gain. Very Useful.BOze Rare Gain more EXP from training. Useful as you level up.BSagamiya Rare Less overheat gain. It can come in handy if you are always getting punched.BMori Rare Get a small damage increase after a perfect dodge. Useful but only if you can pull of a perfect dodge.COji Rare Recover faster from block breaksCDFlesh Rare Shop items have a reduced price for you. Can come in handy during early game.DSon Rare Take more money from enemies when you grip them. It's okay.DMontgomery Rare Your dodge cooldown is reduced after doing a perfect dodge. Just think, your reward for dodging is another dodge! Not that great.DKotatsu Rare Lose less money when you get gripped. Not very useful. And there you have it. Good luck rolling for the best clan in Fire Force Reignition. If you're in the mood to play a similar game, check out GHOUL://RE for a very similar experience, which uses the same combat style. 7. Microsoft has secured another victory over the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in its quest to secure Activision Blizzard. The FTC’s appeal to block Microsoft’s $69 billion deal to acquire the company behind Call of Duty was denied by San Francisco’s 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals today, further cementing a purchase that was originally announced in late 2022 (via Reuters). It was a move decided by a three-judge panel that brought an end to the FTC’s questioning of the July 2023 decision to allow Microsoft to finalize its purchase. Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard has faced scrutiny from across the board for more than three years. Select U.S. Senators were among the first to oppose the transaction, bringing up concerns of the ongoing consolidation of the tech industry as the Xbox maker brought in more major companies under its wing. As competitors and gamers alike grew concerned an acquisition meant popular franchises like Call of Duty would no longer launch on competing platforms, Microsoft confirmed it had no interest in barring certain franchises behind lengthy exclusivity periods. While challenges continued to arise throughout 2023, Microsoft was finally able to complete its purchase of Activision Blizzard in October of that same year. The FTC’s appeal could have presented a late roadblock to continuing operations as normal, and now that its efforts have failed, it seems its pursuit is finally over. 11. Today, 8th April, is a day of compound darkness, for it sees the release of (at least) two games with "midnight" in the title: Midnight Special from Scared Stupid Inc, and The Midnight Walk from Moonhood. It's also an opportunity to briefly compare two video game aesthetics, each comparably dense, tasty and insidious. Read more View the full article

  13. Necromancy is a dark art, forbidden by the mages guild in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. At least, that's what characters in the open world RPG will tell you, before selling you a spell that lets you raise skellingtons from the dirt. You can be promoted to the head of the Mages Guild, in spite of all those corpses you keep bringing back to life. Necromancy banned? Seems like no one cares. Well, one modder has fixed that. The mod, simply titled "Necromancy Is Actually Banned", will see you expelled from the Mages Guild if you perform any necrotic abracadabras in sight of a fellow member. You can also get fined by the guards. Read more View the full article
