  1. ******: The Old Country will release on August 8th, developers Hangar 13 and publishers 2K Games have confirmed, and look, here’s a trailer featuring much headlong bloodshed in the villas, citrus groves and *squints* mysterious firelit dungeons of early 20th century Sicily. With GTA 6 now releasing in 2026, the new ****** is the criminal enterprise to beat this year. Rather than trying to fill the hole left by the Rockstar colossus, it’s playing things small with “a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar ****** gameplay,” according to Hangar 13 president Nick Baynes. 4. Sigil Stones are some of the most useful items to find in Oblivion Remastered, and their enchantment effects can magically change how your weapons and armors work in the game. You can gain these stones from the top of an Oblivion Gate, where you'll need to remove them to close a portal. Once you remove a Sigil Stone, it will be added to your inventory, and you can then use it as an enchantment. Using it on your weapon will trigger its offensive effect, while enchanting it on your armor will trigger a defensive effect. Best Sigil Stone effects in Oblivion Remastered The following table consists of the best Sigil Stone effects you can use on your weapons/armors. While the effects can be used at any player level, the effects will scale up as you level up. The stats mentioned here for the effects are at their maximum, which can be obtained once you get Transcendent Sigil Stones (obtainable from closing Oblivion gates at level 18 or above). Screenshot via Bethesda EffectReasonShield on SelfThis Defensive effect can max out at 20% extra shield, which is massive for the endgame. The lategame features enemies that can do lot of damage, so having an armor with 20% extra shield is almost necessary. It also allows you to ignore potions that might be otherwise required for heals and protection. Absorb Magicka on StrikeThis is easily the best Sigil Stone to use if you're using a build that requires a lot of Magicka. The effect will help to absorb 50 points from the enemy's Magicka on every hit. Magicka, as useful as it is, tends to regenerate slowly. You'll either have to rely on potions, or invest a lot of points on the Willpower stat. Thankfully, this particular effect can help you recover quite a large amount of Magicka (but make sure to use a build that involves physical attacks from close range). FeatherThis particular effect doesn't have any impact on combat, but it's pretty useful. You can have 125 points of Feather on self, which will reduce the weight of the items available in your inventory. You'll be able to bypass the limitations of your encumbrance level, and carry more items. To do so, stack up enchanted items after you have Feather effect activated. This is one of the best ways of increase carry weight capacity without using console commands. ChameleonWith up to 30% Chameleon on self, you'll be able to sneak your way behind enemies and take them down without any struggle. Stealth is a really cool mechanic that can make your general gameplay far more interesting.Frost/Fire/ShockThere are three types of Sigil Stones available for use if you're looking to increase the amount of elemental damage on strike. You can deal 25 points of Fire/Frost/Shock damage on hit (any one type). These type of elemental attacks also work well against enemies that are resistant/immune to certain types of damage. You can usually do more damage against them by focusing on their weakness, which is possible with Sigil Stone effects that specialize in one type of elemental damage. Resist MagicThis effect adds 20% resistance to forms of magical damage, and it's highly useful against enemies who specialize in such types of attacks. The additional resistance will help with greater survivability, and especially so if you struggle with attacks that do magic-based damage. Soul TrapRefilling the Soul Gems becomes mandatory if you have weapons with enchantments. Using Soul Trap spell is effective, but it has its own limitations. Using a Sigil Stone with the Soul Trap effect is a far better alternative. It will trigger Soul Drain on enemies for a fixed time. Once active, just hit as many enemies as you can refill your Soul Gems. NighteyeIf you ever struggle against enemies in the dark, the Nighteye is the perfect effect to utilize. Unlike Light, it doesn't light up the dark. Hence, enemies won't be able to detect you even if you can. Using the effect will turn the world blue, allowing you to spot the enemies in the dark. DisintegrateThis particular effect is highly useful if you're looking to handicap your enemy. The Sigil Stone effect will allow you to disintegrate either the enemy's weapon or armor, making it significantly weak in combat. Once done, it will be easier for you to dispatch them and finish the task. Water WalkingIf you ever want to feel like Jesus inside Oblivion Remastered, this specific Sigil Stone effect is certainly the way to go. The effect does exactly what its name suggests as you'll be able to walk over water. This will allow you to cross water bodies quite easily, and save time. While there's no direct effect on combat, having the ability will reduce the time taken for you to travel from one location to another (especially if they have a big water body between them). These are by far my favorite Sigil Stones that you can utilize in Oblivion Remastered. Make sure to equip them accordingly, as you won't want to waste their effects. Always equip them on weapons and armory pieces that you plan on using for a long time. The post Best Sigil Stones in Oblivion Remastered appeared first on Destructoid. 7. Fans of the series were left scratching their heads when it was revealed that ******: The Old Country announced its preorder price of just $49.99 USD. A prequel to the rest of the series, The Old Country is set in early 1900s Sicily, where it'll explore the very origins of organized crime in Italy. 8. Paradox have announced grand strategy game Europa Universalis 5, following some teasers last week. It's the next big entry in the series of complex globe-spanning historical simulations, and having played a little as the hapless ruler of Korea in the 14th century, I can confirm that it is so far as chunky, complicated, and deep as usual. The changes in this sequel won't look wild or revolutionary to a dabbler, but seasoned tyrants might find a lot to pique their interest. Come see a trailer below. Read more View the full article

  14. 3D platformer Paperklay has perhaps the least appealing protagonists I've seen in a game recently. I hate avian buddy duo "Chick & Nugget" and all their works, beginning with the ghastly 3am pun that appears to have spawned them. Look at that ampersand, dangling in the middle like a chunk of gristle. What an absolute crime against typography. And chickens. And platform game levels made of paper and card - you'd never put an actual chicken nugget on dioramas like these, the grease would ruin it. I also mistrust Chick's beady ****** eyes, and I can't abide the fact that Nugget is wearing a fragment of eggshell for pants. That's like a human child using a placenta as a necktie! Argh! 17. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has some great ways to get powerful buffs and spells dotted all over Cryodiil. 18. Naming the Stellaris 4.0 update 'Phoenix' was supposed to be a nod to the nine-year-old 4X space game's rebirth from the ashes. Landing alongside the Biogenesis DLC, the patch promised to give the strategy game new life courtesy of major, sweeping system overhauls from developer Paradox. Yet it's become a more of a literal descriptor than expected, as game director Stephen 'Eladrin' Muray admits that 4.0 arrived "a little bit on fire." In a new developer blog, Muray apologizes for disappointing players with the undercooked update, and promises that the team is focusing on fixes. Read the rest of the story...
