How To Add, Remove and Update Software in Debian and Ubuntu Using Apt
How To Add, Remove and Update Software in Debian and Ubuntu Using Apt
Linux has a multitude of ways to install software. We can build our own executables or use AppImage to run containerized applications. But at the heart of many Linux distros is a package management system, which for Debian based systems, such as the Raspberry Pi and Ubuntu, is Apt.
Apt, the Advanced Packaging Tool is a command line application which handles the installation, categorization and removal of applications and their dependencies from the software repositories. Apt is the heart of Debian systems and the lessons learnt are applicable from the $35 Raspberry Pi to million dollar super computers. Apt is available via the Terminal and we can even administrate systems remotely using a remote connection such as SSH.
Which Linux distros use Apt?
The list below is not exhaustive, but it illustrates that Apt is used in many Linux distributions.
You may like
Debian
Raspberry Pi OS
Ubuntu and derivatives such as Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, Ubuntu Studio
Pop!_OS
MX Linux
Linux Mint
Peppermint OS
You may be thinking, what about the other packaging tools? Yes there are many more alternatives, typically for other Linux distros. The likes of Fedora / Red Hat uses dnf, Arch based systems use pacman, and Suse uses zypper. You can also install software directly from source files, you just need to build the software before you install.
A command line tool may seem daunting but here we detail the most common commands that you will use to keep your Debian / Ubuntu systems updated with the latest software.
So why not just use apt-get?
Apt the package manager was released in 1998. But apt, the command that is the focus of this how to, has been around since 2014, but it really came to notice with Ubuntu 16.04. But many users use “apt-get” instead so what’s the difference? They both serve the same purpose, software management, but with Apt it boils down to simplicity, with it being more user-friendly than “apt-get”.
Take for example the commands that we used in this how-to.
Get Tom’s Hardware’s best news and in-depth reviews, straight to your inbox.
Swipe to scroll horizontally
apt
apt-get
Function
apt update
apt-get update
Update software repositories.
apt upgrade
apt-get upgrade
Upgrade system software.
apt install
apt-get install
Install an application.
apt remove
apt-get remove
Remove an application.
apt purge
apt-get purge
Remove an application and user configuration files.
But Apt does have a few extra commands, in fact we will use one in the how to.
Swipe to scroll horizontally
Command
Function
apt search
Search for a specific application.
apt edit-sources
Edit /etc/apt/sources.list file which contains all of your software repositories. This is really a shortcut command which opens a text editor.
apt list
List all of the installed applications.
apt show
List the details of an application, including any dependencies.
apt moo
Uses ASCII to display a cow. Ok this is more a joke than a tool. See also cowsay.
Apt is the tool to learn and use for everyday tasks. Apt-get is not being deprecated, but it would be wise to invest your time learning Apt.
Searching for software with Apt
Using Apt we can search the software repository for specific applications and keywords.
Open a terminal and use the apt search command followed by the name of an application. In our example, we use vlc to search for any applications that have vlc in the title. This command can generate a lot of results, but we can scroll up and down the list using our mouse / trackpad.
$ apt search vlc
To pause the output of the command, we can pipe (send the output) to “less”. The less command is used to store a page of output, which we can scroll or page through using the spacebar.
$ apt search vlc | less
If we need to be more specific we can pipe the output from the command and use “grep” to search for a specific keyword. Here we search for any VLC tools to use with Python 3.
$ apt search vlc | grep “python3”
Once we have found the appropriate application we can use the install command to install it onto our system.
Installing Linux Software With Apt
After identifying our required application we next need to install it. Before we run an installation we need to update, ensuring that we get the latest software.
1. Open a terminal and use the update command. The update command will update the list of available packages for your machine. It is best practice to update, that way you will get the latest software.
$ sudo apt update
2. Use the install command to download and install your chosen application. In our example we install VLC, a popular media player.
$ sudo apt install vlc
After a few moments the application will be installed and available via the Terminal and via the Applications menu.
Upgrading software with Apt
To upgrade all of your installed software we can use the “upgrade” command. Using this with “update,” we can ensure that our software repositories are up-to-date, meaning that any new software is at the latest version.
1. Open a terminal and use the update command. The update command will update the list of available packages for your machine.
$ sudo apt update
2. Run the upgrade command to download and install the latest software. We use the -y switch to automatically agree to installing the software.
$ sudo apt upgrade -y
We can also chain together these commands into a one line script. Using “&&” between the commands we can instruct the system to chain the commands to run one after the other. The “&&” means that the second command will only run if the first command runs successfully.
$ sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
Depending on the amount of required updates, this can take from a few seconds to multiple minutes.
Removing software
There are two ways to uninstall an application from the system. The first “removes” the application from the system, leaving any user configuration files intact. This is the most common and safest means to remove software
Open a terminal and use the following command to remove the application. In our example we uninstalled VLC.
$ sudo apt remove vlc
The second way is to “purge” the application and any config files from the system. This is a nuclear option, used to remove the application should we need a fresh start.
1. Open a terminal and use the purge command to remove VLC and any of its configuration files. Only use this command if you do not need or have backed up any configuration files.
$ sudo apt purge vlc
2. Confirm that you are happy to purge the application and any configuration files.

*** weather forecast more accurate with Met Office supercomputer
*** weather forecast more accurate with Met Office supercomputer
The Great British tradition of talking about the weather has been taken to a new level after the Met Office unveiled a new supercomputer which it says produces better forecasts.
The weather agency says detailed estimates up to 14 days in advance will become the norm, while rainfall predictions will also be more accurate.
The new cloud-based system, which was launched on Monday, can perform 60 quadrillion calculations per second.
It is being operated by Microsoft’s cloud-based Azure, making it the first system the Met Office is not running by itself.
And it ends a long wait for the weather prediction tech, which was first announced in 2020 and originally slated for 2022.
According to the Met Office, this is the world’s first cloud-based supercomputer dedicated to weather and climate science.
It said one of the benefits of the tech will be improving forecasting at airports, while it could also give the energy sector more detailed information to help it plan for potential blackouts and surges.
And it said the supercomputer, which is entirely powered by renewable energy, will also improve predications on ongoing challenges caused by climate change, such as flooding and wildfires.
The new supercomputer, which can perform more than four times the number of calculations per second than its predecessor, contains 1.8m core processors.
While the exact location of the infrastructure is a secret, the Azure supercomputing service is physically located in the south of England and is split across two data centres.
After recent hacks of British institutions such as M&S and Co-op, cyber security is on “everyone’s thoughts” according to the Met Office’s chief information officer Charles Ewen.
But he said he is happy with the security of the new system and is “very confident this is a big enhancement” on its predecessor.
“There’s never been a more critical time for weather and climate intelligence,” said Prof Simon Vosper, the Met Office’s science director.
“We know the climate’s changing, as we know the risks of hazardous weather.
“The supercomputer will unlock our ability to deliver those improved services where they’re needed.”
In February 2020, the *** government pledged £1.2bn for the project and said the old supercomputers would reach the end of their lives in 2022.
Mr Ewen said the three-year delay was predominantly caused by the Covid pandemic and its impact on the availability of silicon, while the Met Office highlighted the need to keep delivering existing services during the changeover.
“I’m very confident the Met Office is best placed in the world to be able to accommodate at scale emerging methods and techniques such as artificial intelligence,” he said.
Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service is one of the largest providers of data centres in the world, and powers a large part of artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Cub8 is a fast-paced rhythm puzzler where every tap counts
Cub8 is a fast-paced rhythm puzzler where every tap counts
Cub8 is a fast-paced, but straightforward rhythm puzzler
Tap to crush blocks, with each 10 blocks taking you to the next stage
Cope with changing rhythms, mechanics and other hazards
If you’ve been hankering for a new rhythm puzzler, then good news! Because Cub8 might be exactly what you’ve been looking for. But we should really get into what this distinctive take on the genre includes, because there are a few things you may love or hate about it.
In Cub8, all you need to do is tap at the right time to crush the moving blocks. No different arrows, and every 10 successful taps, the stage shifts to a new rhythm and (occasionally) new mechanics. This is where rhythm fans may be put off by the seeming simplicity of a usually quite intense genre.
But at the same time, it’s hard not to be enthralled by Cub8, as this is definitely something designed to pull you in. You’ll zoom in after every cube is crushed, and the 8 distinctive stages all boast brand-new mechanics, such as fake or hazard cubes that can present a real threat to your run.
Crush’em
The main barrier to entry for fans of the rhythm genre may be, as mentioned, the simplicity. The rhythm genre is not exactly one known for being easy, after all. But at the same time, just at a glance, Cub8 promises a suite of different twists to a seemingly basic formula.
With that in mind, then it may be worth giving Cub8 a second look, as it presents plenty of fun to be had, and perhaps an entryway for new fans to get into the always fun rhythm genre!
But, if you want something slower-paced or more challenging on the puzzle side of things, we’ve got all of it collated! Check out our list of the top 25 best puzzlers on iOS and Android for a whole host of great brain-busters and neuron-teasers suitable for fans of all levels of skill.

How to protect your data after a cyber-attack | Cybercrime
How to protect your data after a cyber-attack | Cybercrime
Another cyber-attack has hit the headlines – this one involving the personal data of hundreds of thousands of legal aid applicants in England and Wales.
It comes hard on the heels of recent cyber-attacks that caused huge disruption at Marks & Spencer and the Co-op, and has prompted fresh reminders for people to be extra-vigilant for any suspicious activity.
If you’re worried your data may have fallen into the wrong hands somehow, here are some tips for protecting yourself.
Change your password – and make sure it’s up to scratch
Always make sure you have strong passwords, and don’t use the same one on more than one account.
If you have had any dealings with a company or organisation that has suffered a cyber-attack, change the password that you use for that website or app immediately.
“Consider using a password manager to generate and store strong, unique passwords,” says online security firm NordVPN.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is something you can set up for your email and other important online accounts to add an extra layer of security. It involves you providing something that only you can access – for example, a code sent to you by text message. You should turn 2FA on for every service that offers it.
Be very wary of unsolicited emails, phone calls or messages
In particular, don’t click on a link or attachment in an email, text message or social media post unless you are absolutely sure it is legitimate. It could take you to a fake website or contain malware designed to steal your personal information.
Phishing emails used by fraudsters will often reference a cyber-attack that has been in the news to try to hook those in who are customers or users of that company or organisation.
Sometimes fraudsters will have personal information which they obtained via an incident or via other means, which can make them sound more authentic.
If someone says they are from a company or organisation you use, and you cannot be 100% sure who you are dealing with, ignore the email or hang up and find the official contact details if you want to check with them.
Keep an eye on your credit record
If your personal data has been stolen it’s worth keeping tabs on your credit record in case fraudsters attempt to use it to take out loans or other products in your name. Credit reference agencies have the details, and you can access them in different ways – some free, some paid-for.
It’s a good idea to regularly check your credit report data, which you can access in different ways – some free, some paid-for – via the credit reference agencies.
Credit Karma and ClearScore both offer access to your credit report free for life.
If you are turned down for a financial product such as a credit card or loan, despite having a good credit rating, or you stop receiving statements from your bank for no reason, these could be a sign that someone has been using your identity. Other more obvious ones are if you start to get letters relating to debts that aren’t yours, or your bank statement mentions an item you haven’t bought.
Most financial and shopping scams start on social media and tech platforms, say banks. Again, be wary as fraudsters may have obtained details about you that they can use to convince you that you are having a conversation with someone you know.
There has been a surge in recent years in so-called “Hi Mum” scams, where fraudsters pose as loved ones on services such as WhatsApp. Someone might get in touch pretending to be a family member and saying they need cash quickly to pay a bill because they have been locked out of their online banking after getting a new phone.
Do not rush into transferring money, even if you are told it is urgent. Take time and check that you are really in touch with a relative or friend.
Protect your device
Keep your laptops and other kit up to date – for example, make sure you are still getting software and security updates.
Only use the official app stores and software update services.

Morrisons says ***-EU deal will ‘ease’ price pressure
The boss of one of the ***’s biggest supermarket chains the ***-EU trade deal will reduce pressure on prices.
The deal signed on Monday sets out post-Brexit relations on areas including fishing rights, farming exports, trade, travel, and defence.
Major business groups called the agreement a “leap forward” which made “genuine progress”, while Morrisons’ chief executive Rami Baitiéh said it would “ease a source of pressure on food prices”.
However, others business groups said more still needs to be done to help *** businesses and the fine print of the deal will be crucial.
Mr Baitiéh said: “Sweeping away trade barriers with the EU will remove cost, complexity and delay in food imports from the continent”.
He added: “As a fresh food manufacturer we also welcome the prospect of key export markets for our excellent meat and fish becoming more accessible.”
A spokesperson for Asda said the agreement “has the potential to significantly reduce costs and bureaucracy both for the fresh produce we import from the EU and the goods we move every day to our customers in Northern Ireland.”
The spokesperson added that they hoped the deal would be finalised “as soon as possible,” in order to ” deliver the maximum possible benefits for our customers and household budgets in every part of the ***.”
The Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), *** Hospitality and the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) are among the business groups that have praised the deal.
Rain Newton-Smith, chief executive of the CBI, said: “After the turbulence of the last decade, today’s summit marks a leap forward in the EU-*** relationship.”
Shevaun Haviland, director general of the BCC, said: “Today’s summit marks a turning point in ***/EU relations which puts our trade relationship at the forefront of our partnership going forward.”
However, he added “we must not stop here”.
“This agreement must be the foundation on which we aspire to build a much stronger business relationship going forward.”

Microsoft introduces GitHub AI agent that can code for you
Microsoft introduces GitHub AI agent that can code for you

Microsoft’s GitHub unit on Monday introduced a Copilot artificial intelligence agent that can take on specific programming work and inform people once it has finished.
From there, developers can check the agent’s work from GitHub, a widely used repository for code. They can request modifications and then allow GitHub to add the source code to existing files.
The launch, announced at Microsoft’s Build developer conference in Seattle, shows that the technology company wants to make AI a more natural part of the process of enhancing software. The coding agent might help Microsoft distinguish its developer tools from alternatives from companies such as Atlassian and GitLab.
“Using state-of-the-art models, the agent excels at low-to-medium complexity tasks in well-tested codebases, from adding features and fixing bugs to extending tests, refactoring code, and improving documentation,” Thomas Dohmke, CEO of GitHub, wrote in a blog post. Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet AI model powers the coding agent, a GitHub spokesperson said.
When you assign an issue to Copilot in GitHub, the coding agent responds with the eyes emoji. It puts its work in a new file and summarizes its work. Rather than being confined to an application for composing code, the agent appears as just another programmer on the team.
“The GitHub Copilot coding agent fits into our existing workflow and converts specifications to production code in minutes,” Alex Devkar, senior vice president of engineering and analytics at used car retailer Carvana, was quoted as saying in the blog post. “This increases our velocity and enables our team to channel their energy toward higher-level creative work.”
In recent months, developers and people with less technical know-how have adopted “vibe-coding” systems such as Cursor and Windsurf that write programs with a few words of human direction. Much of their use is associated with the creation of new capabilities. GitHub’s coding agent, by comparison, could assist with maintaining code libraries.
GitHub has grown since Microsoft acquired it in 2018, generating over $2 billion in annualized revenue as of last summer.
The GitHub Copilot assistant, which recently gained an agent mode feature to help it compete with Cursor and Windsurf, now has over 15 million users, four times more than a year earlier, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told analysts on a conference call earlier this month.
A free Copilot tier for individuals provides limited access.
The new coding agent won’t be free, though. It will be available to developers with Copilot Pro+ subscriptions and organizations that subscribe to the Copilot Enterprise service tier, GitHub said. It’s available in preview, meaning that GitHub will take early user feedback, the spokesperson said.

International Court of Justice sides with Equatorial Guinea in Gabon island dispute
International Court of Justice sides with Equatorial Guinea in Gabon island dispute
The United Nation’s top court has sided with Equatorial Guinea in a row with Gabon over three islands in potentially oil-rich waters.
The two Central African countries have been arguing over the isles – Conga, Mbanié and Cocoteros – since the early 1970s.
The islands are virtually uninhabited but are in a maritime zone thought to contain significant amounts of hydrocarbons.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Equatorial Guinea’s claim – based on a 1900 treaty dividing up French and Spanish colonial assets – should be honoured.

VGChartz’s Lee Mehr: “Being a mechanically-light narrative adventure doesn’t have to be a sin on its own. So, it’s a shame when titles like Lost Records: Bloom & Rage serve as such a bad example. Again, from a bird’s eye view, the understated ways DON’T NOD reinterprets what could’ve been Life Is Strange concepts and dual timelines had some potential. But the end result is more like YA slop dumped into a feeding trough than a cohesive story; a confused title that’s either uncaring or outright hostile about pacing, internal logic, and player engagement, ranking itself the worst album in this developer’s oeuvre.”

Asus RTX 5080 ProArt comes with a wood grain finish and M.2 slot option
Asus RTX 5080 ProArt comes with a wood grain finish and M.2 slot option
Asus has brought the joy of wood grain to its graphics card lineup. The PC and components giant has just taken the wraps off its first RTX 50 graphics cards to swell the ranks of the ProArt family, and they all feature “a classy brown wood grain design.” Moreover, this first quartet of RTX 50 ProArt cards is the firm’s “first to offer USB Type-C support for enhanced versatility for creative workflows.” Two of the models also sport an M.2 slot, which will please some users, as long as Asus’s price premium isn’t too ambitious.
The most desirable model among the new Asus ProArt GeForce RTX 5080 models is the OC Edition with M.2 SSD slot. We’d probably rank the non-overclocked M.2 slot packing card next, followed by the ProArt GeForce RTX 5080 OC, and then the ‘vanilla’ but still wood effect finished and USB Type-C port packing model.
Regular readers will be well aware of the key attractions of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080, and if not, please check out our extensive review and consider its place among the best graphics cards on the market in mid-2025. Asus has two new ProArt cards, which will offer ‘reference’ specs, and two with an overclock applied to the GPU. We can’t drill down on those figures, though, as Asus hasn’t added the specs to the product pages at the time of writing.

Like a log in your PCIe slot
Probably the more important differentiation here is with the cooler, M.2 slot, and USB Type-C connectivity, though. The Asus ProArt design looks a lot like a reskinned Prime card, but here it has ProArt motifs and the headlining wood grain effect along the top. Like you’ve installed a log in your GPU slot.
Asus’s cooling system is listed as “2.5 slot small form factor size,” but it isn’t low-profile or similar. The triple spinner design is taller than the PCI bracket and probably approaches 300mm in length. Asus says the cooler features a MaxContact design with vapor chamber, and there’s a phase-change GPU pad between the cooler and the GPU to help keep this card cool, calm, and collected.
Moving along to the other special features here, all four new ProArt RTX 5080 models also feature USB Type-C support, which is great for a growing number of monitors and devices.
If you choose one of the models with an M.2 slot, you can benefit from up to PCIe Gen5 speeds. Moreover, the ample cooling of the graphics card should also cover the needs of any toasty SSD you might equip.

Wood be welcome
Some retro tech enthusiasts may be quite pleased to see the return of wood-effect finishes to tech. Whether it comes in the form of actual wood construction or parts, wood veneers, or even just wood-effect plastics – the look and feel can bring back fond memories of old tech and gadgetry like TV, Hi-Fi, and even games console systems.
With Asus introducing these ProArt designs, and knowing there are already numerous wood-finish cases around, the dreams of an all-wood finished PC are getting nearer. Wood finish keyboards and mice have been a thing for quite some time, and we also know there are wood finish CPU air coolers from DeepCool at Computex. A wood completist might still long for wood-finish motherboards, RAM, and storage. Finally, a wood-bezel monitor shouldn’t be a big challenge to DIY-frame, if no firm steps forward with some lignin-lover options.

Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions
“Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions”
For The Elder Scrolls fans, we’re still waiting for the next entry in Bethesda and Todd Howard’s legendary RPG franchise. Even seven years after the initial reveal, we have no other details than these little tidbits. But there’s one thing we now know for sure: The Elder Scrolls 6 will run on the same engine as Starfield.
Director Todd Howard has been vocal about the studio’s Creation Engine 2 being the core of both games. What we need to know is that despite the two games using the same engine, the tech won’t be reused wholesale. Instead, TES6 will build upon Starfield’s use of the creation engine with unique additions tailored specifically to the Elder Scrolls experience.
We just need to believe in Todd Howard and Bethesda
The Elder Scrolls 6 has had a long time to cook. | Image Credit: @lexfridman/YouTube
Bethesda first teased The Elder Scrolls 6 back in 2018, a move largely intended to reassure us gamers after the mixed reception of Fallout 76. Since then, we’ve barely gotten any updates. The game may as well not exist right now. The information about the game that we do know has come from various interviews since.
Starfield modders with some tweaks to the ini files have managed to make Starfield look insane, really showing off just how much the Creation Engine 2 can do when it’s let off the hook!
This is a glimpse of how The Elder Scrolls 6 might actually look:pic.twitter.com/VNP6gn9Inr
— VGT Gaming News (@GAMERNEWSonX) November 28, 2023
For example, back in June 2021, Todd Howard said in an interview with The Telegraph that Creation Engine 2 was “sort of built for both” Starfield and TES6. This means that the team always planned to use the engine for their spacefaring sci-fi title and the follow-up to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
Bethesda confirms ‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ has left pre-production and is now in early development pic.twitter.com/uMIxeCOyBe
— Culture Crave (@CultureCrave) August 30, 2023
What’s clear to us is that TES6 won’t be a simple reskin of Starfield, because Howard also noted that while the engine is shared, each game would have a different approach.
Every game will have some new suites of technology, so Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions on to Creation Engine 2 that that game is going to require.
It’s a good idea if you think about it. This approach allows the developers to gradually improve their game engine rather than rebuilding from scratch for each new game. It’s also more cost-effective, given the extensive investment, both financial and developmental, that the studio has already made in using the creation engine.
We have no release date or any other details; we just have to hope it works out
Despite calls from fans for TES6 to adopt Unreal Engine 5, Bethesda has held firm. We’ve seen the kind of graphics that UE5 allows, but we’ve also seen the number of issues it can have. And on top of that, there’s the modding issue. Unreal Engine games can have mods, but Bethesda has tailored its creation engine for modding because of the popularity of Skyrim and its other games.
If there’s one thing Howard has consistently talked about over the years, it’s longevity. Bethesda isn’t just aiming to make a game that wows us when it comes out. The studio wants The Elder Scrolls 6 to last just like how Skyrim has. And in a way, the decision to stick with Creation Engine 2 is part of that goal. To create a solid, extensible foundation that can support the game well into the future.
As of March 2025, The Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away from release. Based on court documents from the Microsoft/FTC case, the most realistic timeline points to a 2026 launch at the earliest. But if we’re being realistic, it’s still probably two years down the pipeline.

MSI introduces its first Ryzen-based handheld — The Claw A8 packs the Z2 Extreme and 24GB of fast RAM
MSI introduces its first Ryzen-based handheld — The Claw A8 packs the Z2 Extreme and 24GB of fast RAM
MSI has launched its first Ryzen-based handheld, powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU under the hood, at Computex. While serving as an AMD alternative to the established Lunar Lake options, the MSI Claw A8 shares many similarities with them. This includes dimensions, weight, audio, sensors, storage, and even the display. The company has not yet detailed pricing and availability, but we expect to hear more shortly.
Under the hood, the Claw A8 sports the Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU with eight cores (3x Zen 5 + 5x Zen 5c) and 16 threads. This configuration is largely similar to the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360, but packs a more powerful RDNA 3.5-based graphics engine with 16 Compute Units (Radeon 890M). This is complemented by 24GB of soldered LPDDR5x-8000 memory. This is slightly lower than the typical 32GB LPDDR5x-8533 we’ve seen with Lunar Lake-powered Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ options. The default configuration comes with a 1TB M.2 2280 SSD, which should be upgradable.
In terms of the display, MSI has opted for an 8-inch 1080p IPS panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate and VRR functionality, covering 100% of the sRGB color space. This is oddly similar to the Claw 8 AI+, and we wouldn’t be surprised if MSI is using identical displays.

With a 6-cell setup, the battery offers a substantial 80Wh capacity, which should be enough for several hours of gameplay. The Claw A8 is equipped with two USB4 Type-C ports, one 3.5mm combo jack port, one microSD slot, and a power button with a built-in fingerprint sensor. Wireless connectivity is powered by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, as the Z2 Extreme lacks support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 available on Lunar Lake.
Performance will be interesting to see, as based on our testing, Intel’s Arc 140V outperforms the Radeon 890M in gaming. Lunar Lake is also more efficient and might be the better choice for longer gaming sessions. Pricing will be a crucial factor since, despite its apparent advantages, Lunar Lake SoCs are likely more expensive due to advanced manufacturing (TSMC N3B) and packaging (Foveros 3D). As a point of reference, the 1TB configuration of the Claw 8 AI+ had a debut price of $899, though it currently retails for $999 or more.

How to Play the US-China Trade Pause With These Targeted ETFs
How to Play the US-China Trade Pause With These Targeted ETFs
After a tumultuous ******* for markets in which the Trump administration raised tariffs on goods imported from China to 145%, news of an apparent deal with the ******** government brought the tariff level down to 30% as of mid-May 2025. The seemed to breathe a sigh of relief at this news, turning positive year-to-date (YTD) after a significant drop in April.
However, the trade tensions between the United States and China are far from resolved. First, the U.S. tariffs on ******** goods have been lowered only for 90 days, meaning that without further negotiation, they could revert to a higher level later this year.
While China has also relaxed some of its export restrictions, it has not yet lifted export curbs on some of its essential rare earth minerals, which are key to defense and other companies. That’s all to say that, despite a relaxation of tension, the longer the trade war continues.
Investors who believe China is likely to benefit from continued trade negotiations or eventually emerge as a winner in these disputes may be looking for ways to capitalize. It can be difficult for U.S. investors to access the ******** stock market, but one efficient way to do so in a generalized manner is through exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
The funds below provide varying types of exposure to ******** equities for investors who are bullish on this market.
Exposure to the Full Market of ******** Large-Cap Names
Likely the most generalized approach to investing in ******** stocks can be found with the KraneShares MSCI All China Index ETF (NYSE:).
This fund tracks the All Shares Index, which is comprised of ******** securities on exchanges in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the United States.
It is one of the easiest ways to get broad exposure to roughly $9 trillion in market value among publicly traded companies headquartered in China.
However, keep in mind that due to the MSCI index’s market cap restrictions, the fund is skewed toward large-cap companies and above.
One advantage that KALL has over its prominent rival, the iShares MSCI China ETF, is in regard to fees. KALL has an expense ratio of 0.49% while MCHI is somewhat more costly at 0.59%.
Investors might look beyond this factor, though, to determine which of these funds better suits their needs.
MCHI has a significantly higher asset base and trading volume, meaning that liquidity can be an issue for KALL investors looking to trade often.
However, for buy-and-hold investors, the lower fees associated with KALL could be a winning factor.
Access to the ******** Equities Space Without Government Involvement
For an alternative approach to large-cap ******** equities, investors might consider the WisdomTree China ex-State-Owned Enterprises Fund (NASDAQ:). This fund is benchmarked to an index of the same name and which selects non-state-owned ******** companies by a modified float-adjusted market capitalization weighting process.
For the purposes of CXSE, ******** state-owned enterprises are any companies for which the government owns 20% or more of the outstanding shares.
Unlike in the United States, the ******** government is heavily involved in owning many businesses across sectors. Many investors believe non-state-owned companies are more adaptable and flexible and have stronger growth prospects than state-run endeavors.
These companies may also be more responsive to market demand and better able to stimulate earnings growth than those more heavily controlled by the government. Further, many of these companies are in emerging industries such as AI, green energy, and fintech, all of which may have attractive growth prospects as well.
CXSE’s expense ratio is 0.32%, making it among the more affordable ETFs focused on ******** equities.
Ultra Cheap Access to Emerging Markets, With a Focus on China
The SPDR® Portfolio Emerging Markets ETF (NYSE:) is not strictly focused on ******** stocks, but rather on emerging markets names more broadly.
Still, China receives the largest representation and occupies almost a third of the portfolio as well as several of the biggest individual positions.
SPEM may thus be a good option for investors looking for generalized exposure outside of the U.S. market and with a preference for ******** equities.
Making the fund that much more compelling for investors seeking a good value is its ultra-low expense ratio of just 0.07%, which makes it competitive against virtually all other ETFs available at this point.

Trump has wiped Elon Musk’s name from Truth Social as GOP insiders admit he’s ‘finished, done, gone’
Trump has wiped Elon Musk’s name from Truth Social as GOP insiders admit he’s ‘finished, done, gone’
President Donald Trump has stopped mentioning Elon Musk on Truth Social as the administration takes a significant step back from the tech billionaire brought on to trim the federal budget.
Trump was posting about Musk an average of four times per week in February and March on Truth Social as Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency led the firing of employees and shuttering of federal departments, but the president hasn’t mentioned him once since the start of April, according to an analysis by Politico.
Equally, until early April, Musk posted about the president on his X account almost every day but posts where Trump is mentioned have since tailed off.
Musk has stepped back from front-line politics since proving unpopular with the public, according to polling, and he faced ridicule over the outcome of the Wisconsin Supreme Court race last month.
“He’s finished, done, gone. He polls terribly. People hate him,” an anonymous GOP operative told Politico. “He’d go to Wisconsin thinking he can buy people’s votes, wear the cheese hat, act like a 9-year-old. … It doesn’t work. It’s offensive to people.”

The official White House account and some of Trump’s senior advisers have also stopped mentioning Musk on social media, Politico notes.
Musk became a central fixture of Trump’s reelection campaign last summer and even more so after the president entered office in January, with the world’s richest man leading the charge to gut federal agencies.
His time as a special government employee was limited to 130 days and the tech mogul said he would be turning his attention to his businesses after Tesla reported disappointing earnings in April. “It’s just been a very intense 100 days, where at times I was here full time. So, at the beginning, I was here in D.C. seven days a week for some of the weeks in the beginning, or close to seven days a week,” said Musk.
“And now we’re getting more of a rhythm, and so the amount of time that is necessary for me to spend here is much less.”
Republican Sen. Jim Justice of West Virginia told the outlet that Musk is “a patriot” but acknowledged that the billionaire went too far.
“We got too close to the fence. We mowed too far,” Justice said. “We just adjust. That’s the process that’s going on.”
‘He’s finished, done, gone. He polls terribly. People hate him,’ an anonymous GOP operative told Politico. ‘He’d go to Wisconsin thinking he can buy people’s votes, wear the cheese hat, act like a 9-year-old. … It doesn’t work. It’s offensive to people.’ (Getty Images)
The president has also stopped using Musk’s name to raise money in emails to online supporters, according to Politico. Musk was mentioned almost daily until early March and since then, only one message including the SpaceX CEO was sent out touting a “Gulf of America” cap he once wore, according to the outlet.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that DOGE’s work “will surely continue,” but did not mention Musk directly in response to the outlet.
Musk has proved an effective target for the Democrats but his retreat from the White House raises questions about their messaging ahead of the midterms.
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokesperson Viet Shelton said last month that Democrats “are going to win” by reminding voters that “Republicans are failing at lowering costs because they are too busy pushing tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy.”
“Elon is, and forever will be, an instantly recognizable manifestation of the fact that House Republicans don’t work for the American people, they work for the billionaires,” Shelton told Politico in a statement.
Rep. Lori Trahan of Massachusetts, the co-chair of the House Democrats’ messaging committee, meanwhile, stressed the need to “adjust.”
“As long as he’s there using a chainsaw to all the programs that people back home rely on and need to make ends meet, of course we’re going to make him a central character,” Trahan said last month.
“At some point, he will become a liability for the president, and they will sever ties. And we will adjust as we head into the midterms,” Trahan said.

Microsoft Build 2025: The age of AI agents and building the open agentic web
Microsoft Build 2025: The age of AI agents and building the open agentic web
TL;DR? Hear the news as an AI-generated audio overview made using Microsoft 365 Copilot.
We’ve entered the era of AI agents. Thanks to groundbreaking advancements in reasoning and memory, AI models are now more capable and efficient, and we’re seeing how AI systems can help us all solve problems in new ways.
For example, 15 million developers are already using GitHub Copilot, and features like agent mode and code review are streamlining the way they code, check, deploy and troubleshoot.
Hundreds of thousands of customers are using Microsoft 365 Copilot to help research, brainstorm and develop solutions, and more than 230,000 organizations — including 90% of the Fortune 500 — have already used Copilot Studio to build AI agents and automations.
Companies like Fujitsu and NTT Data are using Azure AI Foundry to build and manage AI apps and agents that help prioritize sales leads, speed proposal creation and surface client insights. Stanford Health Care is using Microsoft’s healthcare agent orchestrator to build and test AI agents that can help alleviate the administrative burden and speed up the workflow for tumor board preparation.
Developers are at the center of it all. For 50 years Microsoft has been empowering developers with tools and platforms to turn their ideas into reality, accelerating innovation at every stage. From AI-driven automation to seamless cloud integration and more, it’s exciting to see how developers are fueling the next generation of digital transformation.
So, what’s next?
We envision a world in which agents operate across individual, organizational, team and end-to-end business contexts. This emerging vision of the internet is an open agentic web, where AI agents make decisions and perform tasks on behalf of users or organizations.
At Microsoft Build we’re showing the steps we’re taking to make this vision a reality through our platforms, products and infrastructure. We’re putting new models and coding agents in the hands of developers, introducing enterprise-grade agents, making our platforms like Azure AI Foundry, GitHub and Windows the best places to build, embracing open protocols and accelerating scientific discovery with AI, all so that developers and organizations can go invent the next big thing.
Here’s a glimpse at just a few of the announcements today:
Reimagining the software development lifecycle with AI
AI is fundamentally shifting how code is written, deployed and maintained. Developers are using AI to stay in the flow of their environment longer and to shift their focus to more strategic tasks. And as the software development lifecycle is being transformed, we’re providing new features across platforms including GitHub, Azure AI Foundry and Windows that enable developers to work faster, think ******* and build at scale.
GitHub Copilot coding agent and new updates to GitHub Models: GitHub Copilot is evolving from an in-editor assistant to an agentic AI partner with a first-of-its-kind asynchronous coding agent integrated into the GitHub platform. We’re adding prompt management, lightweight evaluations and enterprise controls to GitHub Models so teams can experiment with best-in-class models, without leaving GitHub. Microsoft is also open-sourcing GitHub Copilot Chat in VS Code. The AI-powered capabilities from GitHub Copilot extensions will now be part of the same open-source repository that drives the world’s most popular development tool. As the home of over 150 million developers, this reinforces our commitment to open, collaborative, AI-powered software development. Learn more about GitHub Copilot updates.
Introducing Windows AI Foundry: For developers, Windows remains one of the most open and widely used platforms available, with scale, flexibility and growing opportunity. Windows AI Foundry offers a unified and reliable platform supporting the AI developer lifecycle across training and inference. With simple model APIs for vision and language tasks, developers can manage and run open source LLMs via Foundry Local or bring a proprietary model to convert, fine-tune and deploy across client and cloud. Windows AI Foundry is available to get started today. To learn more visit our Windows Developer Blog.
Azure AI Foundry Models and new tools for model evaluation: Azure AI Foundry is a unified platform for developers to design, customize and manage AI applications and agents. With Azure AI Foundry Models, we’re bringing Grok 3 and Grok 3 mini models from xAI to our ecosystem, hosted and billed directly by Microsoft. Developers can now choose from more than 1,900 partner-hosted and Microsoft-hosted AI models, while managing secure data integration, model customization and enterprise-grade governance. We’re also introducing new tools like the Model Leaderboard, which ranks the top-performing AI models across different categories and tasks, and the Model Router, designed to select an optimal model for a specific query or task in real-time. Read more about Azure AI Foundry Models.
Making AI agents more capable and secure
AI agents are not only changing how developers build, but how individuals, teams and companies get work done. At Build, we’re unveiling new pre-built agents, custom agent building blocks, multi-agent capabilities and new models to help developers and organizations build and deploy agents securely to help increase productivity in meaningful ways.
With the general availability of Azure AI Foundry Agent Service, Microsoft is bringing new capabilities to empower professional developers to orchestrate multiple specialized agents to handle complex tasks, including bringing Semantic Kernel and AutoGen into a single, developer-focused SDK and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) and Model Context Protocol (MCP) support. To help developers build trust and confidence in their AI agents, we’re announcing new features in Azure AI Foundry Observability for built-in observability into metrics for performance, quality, cost and safety, all incorporated alongside detailed tracing in a streamlined dashboard. Learn more about how to deploy enterprise-grade AI agents in Azure AI Foundry Service.
Introducing Microsoft 365 Copilot Tuning and multi-agent orchestration: With Copilot Tuning, customers can use their own company data, workflows and processes to train models and create agents in a simple, low-code way. These agents perform highly accurate, domain-specific tasks securely from within the Microsoft 365 service boundary. For example, a law firm can create an agent that generates documents aligned with its organization’s expertise and style. Additionally, new multi-agent orchestration in Copilot Studio connects multiple agents, allowing them to combine skills and tackle broader, more complex tasks. Check out the Microsoft 365 blog to learn how to access these new tools as well as the Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 spring release, which has moved to general availability and begins rolling out today.
Supporting the open agentic web
To realize the future of AI agents, we’re advancing open standards and shared infrastructure to provide unique capabilities for customers.
Supporting Model Context Protocol (MCP): Microsoft is delivering broad first-party support for Model Context Protocol (MCP) across its agent platform and frameworks, spanning GitHub, Copilot Studio, Dynamics 365, Azure AI Foundry, Semantic Kernel and Windows 11. In addition, Microsoft and GitHub have joined the MCP Steering Committee to help advance secure, at-scale adoption of the open protocol and announced two new contributions to the MCP ecosystem, an updated authorization specification, which enables people to use their existing trusted sign-in methods to give agents and LLM-powered apps access to data and services such as personal storage drives or subscription services, and the design of an MCP server registry service, which allows anyone to implement public or private, up-to-date, centralized repositories for MCP server entries. Check out the GitHub repository. As we expand our MCP capabilities, our top priority is to ensure we’re building upon a secure foundation. To learn more about this approach see: Securing the Model Context Protocol: Building a Safe Agentic Future on Windows.
A new open project called NLWeb: Microsoft is introducing NLWeb, which we believe can play a similar role to HTML for the agentic web. NLWeb makes it easy for websites to provide a conversational interface for their users with the model of their choice and their own data, allowing users to interact directly with web content in a rich, semantic manner. Every NLWeb endpoint is also an MCP server, so websites can make their content easily discoverable and accessible to AI agents if they choose. Learn more here.
Accelerating scientific discovery with AI
Science may be one of the most important applications of AI, helping to tackle humanity’s most pressing challenges, from drug discovery to sustainability. At Build we’re introducing Microsoft Discovery, an extensible platform built to empower researchers to transform the entire discovery process with agentic AI, helping research and development departments across various industries accelerate the time to market for new products and accelerate and expand the end-to-end discovery process for all scientists. Learn more here.
This is only a small selection of the many exciting features and updates we will be announcing at Build. We’re looking forward to connecting with those who have registered to join us virtually and in-person, for keynote sessions, live code deep dives, hack sessions and more — much of which will be available on demand.
Plus, you can get more on all these announcements by exploring the Book of News, the official compendium of all today’s news.

2022 Game That Won ‘Best Game You ***** At’ Award Is 60% Off on Steam
2022 Game That Won ‘Best Game You ***** At’ Award Is 60% Off on Steam
Looking for a game that will say “git-gud” straight to your face with its gameplay and not a Soulslike? Yes, such magical games exist, and Sifu is one of the finest examples. Do you know what the best part is? It is available on Steam at a 60% discount!
The Kung-Fu-focused game may look simple at first glance, but it is harder than it seems. You start young, full of energy, but lack experience. Each time you die, you grow older and bolder; however, can you beat the game without dying of old age? A fine test of skills and endurance is given through this indie title.
Sifu is available on Steam at a massive discount
The game looks amazing. | Image Credit: Sloclap
Steam is not new to giving unbelievable game discounts and is a hub for gamers to get their favorite games. Marked as one of the biggest online game stores that surpasses all. Recently, they also put up Cyberpunk 2077 at a massive price cut, which shouldn’t be missed out on as well.
Now that Sifu is even more affordable, many players can give this title a shot. It’s not free, but having a huge price cut does make it worth it. How much exactly? It’s only $15.99, and it’s quite a bit less than its original price of $39.99, making it a good time to purchase the game.
If you’ve played Soulsborne games, the only way to beat the game is by becoming better at it. There is no difficulty slider, so players are forced to learn better. The challenging nature of games invites a specific group of players who like to face their demons.
Getting your butt kicked is natural in these games and Sifu is no exception. The feeling of getting over a tough challenge gives a satisfying feeling, which other single-player games can’t beat. Moreover, this is probably one of the best hand-to-hand combat games available on the market. So, you can try your luck with it.
Initially, Sifu didn’t gain its well-deserved popularity, but as players started recommending it, it quickly became a massive seller. Additionally, thanks to Secret Level, an Amazon Prime animated series, this indie hit got a huge boost as well—an effect that has been helping many games like The Witcher, ****** May Cry, and many more.
Will the game price decrease further?
There is a high chance that it will cost even less. As games age, they tend to get cheaper on Steam, especially during the Winter *****. According to SteamDB, there is a pattern of Sifu costing less and less with every passing year.
For instance, Sifu saw a 50% price cut in late 2023, which continued on for most of 2024. By the end of 2024, the price cut was 60%, which satisfies the trend. If the same trend continues, it might be possible that it will be available at a 70% discount this year. If not so, maybe 65% at best.
Their next discount on Sifu might not be as drastic, but it would be even cheaper for obvious reasons. If Steam users want to buy the game now, it won’t be that big of an issue. But if you want to buy it at an even lower price, waiting it out would be the right choice.
How did you find out about Sifu? By watching someone else play or through Secret Level? Do you think it is one of the most difficult games on the planet? Let us know in the comments below.

How to Change Sprays and Emotes in Marvel Rivals
How to Change Sprays and Emotes in Marvel Rivals
Cosmetics have been one of Marvel Rivals’ strongest aspects, and the developers at NetEase keep outdoing themselves with each week’s skin and bundle drops. Coupled with a breathtakingly stylish art direction, these cosmetics have an insane visual appeal, which further incentivises players to purchase them.
Ever since the release of the game back in December, players have been a bit confused about changing their emotes and sprays since the game doesn’t explicitly tell you how to do so. With that being said, changing them is a straightforward process, and you barely need to do anything.
Sprays and emotes in Marvel Rivals can be changed through the Cosmetics tab
Venom showing off his twerking skills in an emote in Marvel Rivals | Image Credit: NetEase Games
Players can change sprays and emotes in Marvel Rivals by following the steps below:
First, launch Marvel Rivals on your console or PC.
Once you open the game, switch to the Heroes tab located at the top of the screen.
Select any hero that you want.
Now you’ll notice that the Hero Profile has been divided into various sections.
Click on the Cosmetics tab, and you’ll be presented with all the cosmetics that you currently have.
The Cosmetics tab is further divided into four sections: Costumes, MVPs, Emotes, and Sprays
If you want to change your emotes, click on the Emotes tab
If you wish to change your sprays, click on the Sprays tab
It’s simpler than getting kills with Scarlet Witch. Once you press on those tabs, you’ll see whatever sprays and emotes you’ve obtained so far. Select any emote and equip it on any of the slots available on the emote wheel; the same goes for sprays, too.
Funnily enough, sprays and emotes used to have a singular wheel on which they could both be equipped, which was confusing because emotes and sprays are two very distinctive cosmetics. It makes no sense to have them both equipped on a single wheel.
This was changed with Marvel Rivals’ recent update, as the developers added dedicated wheels for sprays and emotes, making the customisation much more convenient. Plus, they also added the ability to change between them within a match with the click of a single button. It’s worth noting that sprays aren’t hero-specific but emotes are, naturally.
It’s heartwarming to see the developers continuously updating the game, adding quality-of-life changes, and consistently listening to player feedback, something that’s very rare these days, especially in the multiplayer market. Hopefully, this continues so Marvel Rivals can prosper and have a glorious life cycle.
Earn more sprays and cosmetics from Galacta’s Gift event in Marvel Rivals
With new updates come new events in Marvel Rivals, which reward you with free cosmetics like costumes, sprays, emotes, nameplates, and even in-game currencies. The Galacta’s Gift event currently features sprays and nameplates, Chrono Shield Cards, and even a costume coin that can be used to purchase a costume of your liking for any of the debut 33 heroes.
The requirements for earning these rewards are incredibly simple, as all you need to do is play three matches daily. The only catch is the waiting ******* since you won’t be able to get all the rewards in a day, so take your sweet time. You can complete this challenge in the Practice vs. AI mode to make things easier.
While this event is a great way for players to earn more freebies, the Chrono Shield Cards included in it have caused major outrage in the Marvel Rivals community, with players calling for their removal from the game as soon as possible.
So, what do you think about the sprays and emotes in Marvel Rivals? Do you think they’re a worthy cosmetic inclusion? Or would you have preferred any other types of cosmetics? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below.

Greggs shifts food behind counters to stop shoplifting
Greggs shifts food behind counters to stop shoplifting
Greggs will move its self-serve food and drinks to behind the counter to stamp out shoplifting at the High Street bakery.
The company is trialling the measure at a handful of stores which, it said, are “exposed to higher levels of anti-social behaviour”.
These include Whitechapel in east London which is one of five shops that will try out the new policy – the others are in Peckham and Ilford.
It is not expected that the change will be implemented across all Greggs’ 2,600 bakeries in the ***, but it may be rolled out to sites where there are high levels of theft.
In 2024, shoplifting offences recorded by the police rose by 20% to 516,971, according the Office for National Statistics.
But the number of thefts recorded by retailers was far higher – for the year to last September shops saw a 3.7 million rise to 20.4 million.
Greggs said customers can expect to see its full range behind its counters but added: “The safety of our colleagues and customers remains our number one priority.”

Darth Vader in Fortnite Just De-canonized the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Darth Vader in Fortnite Just De-canonized the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
The Empire has officially struck back against Disney’s sequel trilogy. Fortnite’s latest update lets players recruit and chat with Darth Vader using AI that recreates the late James Earl Jones’ iconic voice, but nobody expected the Sith Lord, of all people, to start dropping truth bombs about Star Wars canon.
The feature, part of the game’s “Galactic Battle” season, allows players to defeat Vader at his location on the island, recruit him to their squad, and then engage in actual conversations with the Sith Lord. Using Google’s Gemini AI and ElevenLabs’ voice technology, the experience creates an uncannily authentic interaction with one of cinema’s most iconic villains.
When Vader throws shade at Disney in Fortnite
The controversy ignited when players began asking Vader about his opinions on the various Star Wars trilogies. In a viral clip, one player’s Vader responded with unexpected candor:
The original trilogy demonstrated the Empire’s might and the prequels elucidated its form. As for the sequels… they do not exist.
The player’s shocked reaction—“He is programmed to say WHAAAT?”—perfectly captured the community’s collective surprise. When pressed further about Disney‘s influence, Vader doubled down, stating he’s “not swayed by corporate agendas” and suggesting the sequels are “sub punk” and “mediocrity”:
This unexpected stance from an official Disney-licensed character has Star Wars fans baffled. “Even Darth Vader ignores the sequels, Big W,” commented @talentnotfound.exe, echoing the sentiment of many sequel-skeptical fans who view Vader‘s dismissal as validation.
Others pointed to real-world parallels, with @christ_pilled_joshi noting that “George Lucas also went on record claiming the sequels weren’t canon,” though Lucas’s actual statements have been more diplomatic than outright dismissal.
“And Darth Vader is right again,” added @daniel_lauriano67, highlighting how the AI’s comments aligned with a vocal segment of the fandom that remains critical of Disney’s sequel trilogy years after its conclusion.
Some fans speculate this controversy will have consequences. “Disney is removing Vader so fast after those roasts,” predicted @noahe.foreman, recognizing that having an official Star Wars character criticize Disney’s own content creates an awkward situation for the media giant.
The future of conversational AI in gaming
Above: Disney executives watching that clip. | Image Credit: Epic Games/Lucasfilm
Beyond the Star Wars drama, Fortnite‘s Vader experiment represents a significant milestone in gaming’s integration of conversational AI. The technology allows for dynamic interactions that weren’t possible before, creating more immersive and personalized experiences.
However, the implementation hasn’t been without hiccups. Within hours of launch, players discovered ways to make Vader swear or say inappropriate things, prompting Epic to deploy patches quickly. One popular streamer, Loserfruit, even managed to get Vader to drop F-bombs before Epic’s fix.
Industry experts predict this is just the beginning. ElevenLabs states conversational AI is projected to contribute $3.1 billion in revenue to the gaming industry by the end of 2025. Their research shows 70% of game developers view AI as essential to next-generation gaming experiences.
For now, though, players are simply enjoying the chaos of a Disney-owned character going rogue against Disney’s own creative decisions.
Whether it’s a programming oversight or an intentional Easter egg, The Dark Lord’s sequel trilogy shade has accomplished something remarkable—uniting the Star Wars fandom in collective amusement.
What do you think about Vader’s hot take on the sequel trilogy? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!

CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon quits amid potential Trump lawsuit settlement
CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon quits amid potential Trump lawsuit settlement
CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon said Monday that she is resigning, the latest fallout at the network as its parent company considers settling a lawsuit with President Donald Trump over “60 Minutes.”
McMahon, who leads both the network news division and news for the CBS-owned stations, said in an email message to staff that “it’s become clear that the company and I do not agree on the path forward. It’s time to move on and for this organization to move forward with new leadership.”
McMahon has made clear she opposes settling with Trump — just like “60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens, who quit last month.
Trump has sued CBS, alleging it edited an interview with 2024 Democratic opponent Kamala Harris last fall to benefit her. CBS News has denied that. CBS’ parent company, Paramount Global, is reportedly in settlement talks with Trump. Paramount Global is seeking approval of a merger with Skydance Media.

New Xbox Update Makes A Key Improvement
New Xbox Update Makes A Key Improvement
Microsoft has rolled out a new Xbox update allows players to further customize the home screen, and the changes sound pretty nice. For now, the new features are available only to Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha users, before everyone else gets to try it later. You can sign up for the free Xbox Insider program to get early access to Xbox updates.
Microsoft said it’s received feedback from fans that they want the Home screen on Xbox to feel more personalized. Specifically, fans have asked for Microsoft to hide tiles they don’t regularly use, and in general, make the Home screen feel “less crowded.” This new update is an attempt to give fans some updates with those concerns in mind, Microsoft said.
“This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Home more personal, flexible, and responsive to your feedback,” the company explained.
You can now further customize the Xbox Home screen.
So what’s in the new update? To begin with, the Home screen now has three new settings, the first of which is “Hide System Apps.” Whereas system apps would previously show up under “recently played games,” this will no longer happen. The second new setting is “Pin Favorites to Home,” and this allows users to pin up to three recently played games or apps to the recently played list. “These pins will stay near the front of the list as you launch other things, giving you quick access to your go-to titles,” Microsoft said.
The third is “Reduce Tile Count.” This isn’t available yet, but when it does arrive, users will be able to reduce the number of tiles that show up in the recently played games and apps list. “We’re still refining this setting, and it will be coming soon,” Microsoft said.
In other news, Microsoft just recently raised Xbox console prices, while the company will start charging $80 for games later this year. The Xbox Games Showcase is coming June 8, with an Outer Worlds 2 Direct broadcast to follow immediately after.

Deere & Company Stock Could Rally Another 20% After Strong Q2 Beat
Deere & Company Stock Could Rally Another 20% After Strong Q2 Beat
Deere & Company (NYSE:) stock can plow its way higher in 2025 for many reasons, including the Q2 results, the 2025 guidance, the capital returns, the balance sheet and the analysts’ response to the above. The takeaway for investors is that this blue-chip, high-quality, capital-returning agricultural machine could rise by another 20% or more following the Q2 price surge and continue rallying higher in 2026.
The analysts’ response to the news sums it up nicely. MarketBeat tracks 20 analysts with current ratings on the stock, nine issued revisions within the first 24 hours of the report, and they all increased their price targets.
The Hold rating comes with a bullish bias, seven of the 20 rate the stock as a Buy and none as a Sell, and the fresh price targets are significantly higher.
The average of nine is $561, and the trimmed-set average is $560, fully 20% above the pre-release consensus and 10% above the February 2025 all-time high, with the high end leading to $600.
The technical signals are strong. The weekly chart shows a clearly bullish signal with the market setting a new high, compounded by bullish crossovers in the MACD and stochastic. This is a sign that multiple market forces are aligning, raising the odds that a sustainable rally can form. The critical support level is near $510, and the critical resistance is at the mid-May highs.
Deere Introduces Caution Into the Guidance
The worst news in the Deere Q2 report is the guidance, which was broadened around the original midpoint to reflect both positive and negative uncertainties.
While there is a risk the company will underperform its outlook for the year, the odds are higher that negatives, including tariffs, will be offset by positives, such as increased technological investment, leaving results in alignment with the midpoint or slightly above it.
As it is, the Q2 results show business contracting as expected, but far less than analysts had forecast.
Deere & Company Q2 revenue contracted by 16.3% but outperformed MarketBeat’s reported consensus by 1600 basis points, significantly improving market sentiment. Strengths were seen in the Production and Precision Agriculture and Construction and Forestry segments, which contracted by only 6% and 1%, respectively. Most of the weakness was seen in Small Ag and Turf, which contracted by a larger 23%.
Margin news is also better than expected. The company experienced margin contraction due to deleveraging and cost pressures, but executed well despite the headwinds. The net result is a 24% contraction in income. However, the $1.84 billion is sufficient to sustain a cash-flow positive quarter and GAAP earnings well above consensus.
John Deere Harvests Green for Its Investors: Capital Returns Are Robust and Reliable
Due to the cash flow outlook, John Deere’s capital return was robust in Q2 and will likely remain so in 2025. Returns in Q2 included dividends and share repurchases, which amounted to 1.26% in yield and a 2.2% reduction in share count. Cash flow also sustains a fortress balance sheet, which shows an increase in cash, a decrease in liability, and a 7% increase in equity for the quarter.
The risk for investors is that the distribution growth or buyback rate could slow if economic conditions change or the tariff impact is more profound than management anticipates.
Following the release, the price action in John Deere stock was mixed. The initial surge increased the price by nearly 10% to form a potentially bearish doji candle. The question is whether profit-taking will continue to cap gains or if a sustained rally will form, which is likely. The early market action following the initial surge suggests support remains elevated and will continue to drive price action in May.

Xanadu shares soar on $160m takeover offer
Xanadu shares soar on $160m takeover offer
Xanadu Mines’ share price soared more than 50 per cent today after the company received an 8 cents per share takeover offer from unlisted Bastion Mining, valuing the Mongolian-focused copper-gold developer at $160 million.
The proposed takeover offer follows hot on the heels of an expired exclusivity ******* earlier this month over a control transaction the company was negotiating with joint venture partner and major shareholder Zijin Mining.
The two parties were unable to come to terms by the expiry date, at which point Bastion, a consortium made up of Singapore-based private investment firm Boroo Pte Ltd and existing Xanadu director Ganbayar Lkhagvasuren, swooped in to table an off-market takeover offer for all Xanadu’s outstanding shares. In the absence of a superior offer, the Xanadu board unanimously recommended shareholders accept the deal.
Xanadu’s flagship Kharmagtai project, held in a 50:50 partnership with Zijin, is a significant copper-gold resource hosting a massive 730-million-tonne ore reserve, which included 1.6Mt of copper and 4M ounces of gold.
A recent feasibility study for Kharmagtai pegged the project’s net present value at a weighty US$930M (A$1.44 billion) on a US$890M (A$1.3B) capex, generating a US$293M (A$455M) annual EBITDA. Based on an output tipped at 80,000t copper and 170,000 ounces of gold a year – and assuming a 70 cents per pound copper cost – the mine is set to pay off in four years and deliver cash dividends for almost another 30 years.
The proposed acquisition of Xanadu by Bastion is aligned with the company’s strategy of generating returns for shareholders and also providing a liquidity event. Bastion’s offer provides Xanadu shareholders with an attractive premium, which recognises the company’s inherent value and considerable achievements in progressing the Kharmagtai copper-gold project.
Moorhead said the company’s takeover board committee directors considered the offer to be in the best interest of shareholders and unanimously recommended shareholders’ acceptance, in the absence of a superior proposal and subject to an independent expert concluding it was fair and reasonable.
The offer represents a 57 per cent premium to Xanadu’s last closing price on Friday, May16.
Xanadu says previous attempts to lock down a deal with Zijin collapsed due to insufficient certainty around Zijin’s commitment to a control transaction. On behalf of Bastion, Lkhagvasuren tellingly said the offer announced today provides Xanadu’s shareholders with the certainty of cash at a significant premium to the company’s share price, against a market backdrop of considerable uncertainty.
“Bastion is ideally positioned to advance Kharmagtai to the next stage of development with the benefit of Boroo’s experience in acquiring, financing and developing mining operations in Mongolia,” Lkhagvasuren said.
Bastion’s offer remains subject to the company acquiring at least a 50.1 per cent interest in Xanadu, at which point Bastion will declare the offer unconditional.
In addition to the 8c per share takeover offer, Bastion will subscribe for almost 287M shares at 6c per share to help Xanadu meet its joint venture and corporate funding obligations during the offer *******. That subscription will inject a further $17.2M into Xanadu’s coffers.

Trump plan or not, Israel is letting more Palestinians leave Gaza
Trump plan or not, Israel is letting more Palestinians leave Gaza
By Nidal al-Mughrabi, Alexander Cornwell, Maayan Lubell
CAIRO/RAMALLAH/ISRAEL-GAZA BORDER (Reuters) -For more than a year, Israeli authorities prevented Ayed Ayoub from escaping Gaza’s hunger and war with his family for an academic fellowship in France. He finally left last month, after Israel unexpectedly eased its tight control of the border.
Ayoub, his wife and their four children are among around 1,000 Palestinians who have left Gaza following Israel’s relaxation of rules in recent months, bussed from the enclave to board flights to Europe and elsewhere, according to interviews with affected Gazans and foreign diplomats.
“The situation in Gaza has become unbearable,” said 57-year-old Ayoub, an engineer who earned his doctorate and masters degree at a French university after moving there in the early 2000s. His return was as part of a group of 115 Gazans accepted by France in April.
The new departures require a request to Israel by a foreign government and their numbers remain relatively small.
Reuters could not establish why Israel was now letting more Palestinians leave Gaza, which comes amid international outcry over the humanitarian conditions there. However, the easing of restrictions parallels the Israeli government’s stated goal of facilitating the resettlement of Gaza’s population in other countries.
For Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, talk of mass resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza has helped shore up support with far-right allies who oppose a further truce with ****** and want to re-establish Jewish settlements there.
Interior Minister Moshe Arbel has described the recent departure of Gazans to European countries as a bid to temporarily and voluntarily vacate the Gaza Strip to allow for its reconstruction, a process he said was inspired by Donald Trump.
The Republican U.S. president has proposed developing the enclave as a coastal resort, free of Palestinians.
“I thank President Trump for thinking of this important initiative,” Arbel said on April 1, after supervising the departure of a flight taking Gazans to Germany. “Together, joining forces, we will turn this place into a paradise. With God’s help, let us succeed.”
His spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment. After the evacuation that Ayoub’s family were part of, the French Foreign Ministry said France remained opposed to the forced displacement of people from Gaza. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned that the Trump idea could amount to ethnic cleansing.
Despite the comments from Arbel, five Israeli officials told Reuters the easing of restrictions was not a direct response to Trump’s Gaza proposal or part of any such plan. One of the Israeli officials said Israel was not trying to reduce Gaza’s population but rather responding to mounting requests by countries seeking to help people reach a safe destination.
For many Palestinians, the opportunity to move is fraught with echoes of historical dispossession of their lands. Ayoub and others among those who recently left told Reuters their departure was only temporary. However, nearly half of Gazans would now consider leaving, according to a recent ************ poll, after Israel’s 19-month offensive has left much of the strip in ruins, with its population largely displaced and dependent on dwindling aid supplies.
Policies in place since Israel broke a fragile six-week ceasefire on March 2 further increased pressure on Gaza’s population, even as U.S. and Arab mediators push for an end to the war.
Famine risks have worsened under Israel’s two-month blockade of all aid deliveries in Gaza. It renewed a bombing campaign, killing 464 people last week, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. And it launched a new “extensive” land offensive on Sunday, two days after Trump concluded a tour of Gulf states.
Israel also said on Sunday it would ease the blockade and allow in limited aid.
Netanyahu has hailed Trump’s idea for Gaza but cites a major obstacle: “We have one problem – we need receiving states,” he told a hawkish group of Gaza war veterans on Tuesday. Neighbours Jordan and Syria – which have large ************ refugee populations dating back decades – and Egypt are loathe to take in large numbers of Gazans.
For this story, Reuters spoke with five Gazans who have left recently, along with nine foreign diplomats and seven Israeli officials to establish details of the impact of the new rules around exits from Gaza.
The foreign diplomats said Israel began informing foreign governments late last year, before Trump took office and floated his proposal, that they would soon ease the restrictions. The diplomats asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorised to speak to the media.
The relaxed restrictions largely took effect at the start of the year. Israeli officials now take days instead of weeks or months to approve requests for Palestinians with foreign citizenship, their relatives, and recipients of foreign scholarships, the diplomats involved said. Among those now allowed to leave were Palestinians previously denied exit by Israel on security grounds, they added.
Israel’s Prime Minister’s office, Defence Ministry and its COGAT branch which coordinates with the Palestinians did not respond to Reuters queries about the scope or reason for the recent easing of restrictions. ******, which has urged Gazans not to take part in any relocation offers, said it was looking into reports of restrictions being eased.
GAZA
The population of Gaza has already fallen by about 160,000 during the course of the war to around 2.1 million, according to the ************ statistics agency. More than 53,000 residents have been killed and the rest have left, including some allowed out for medical emergencies. Others have been able to leave through an expensive system involving Egyptian brokers.
Thousands of foreign nationals fled earlier in the war, but it became much harder to get permission once Israel took over the Rafah crossing with Egypt in May last year and enforced a near-total closure of Gaza’s borders.
In late March, Israel’s government established a new agency that would help Gazans who want to resettle in third countries. Reuters was unable to establish whether the department is functioning.
Reuters could not establish exactly how many people had been able to leave under the new criteria. Three diplomats estimated at least a thousand, while several said they could only be sure of their own citizens, citing numbers in the high hundreds.
Israeli authorities did not respond to a question about numbers.
Over a dozen, primarily European, countries have now been able to get people out from Gaza, with most exits occurring since March, all the diplomats said.
Gisha, an Israeli human rights group that advocates for freedom of movement for Palestinians, said Israel’s easing of restrictions were “partial, inconsistent, and non-transparent,” arguing that many more people should be allowed to leave.
“What may appear to be ‘concessions’ are, in fact, selective and limited responses to international pressure and legal action,” Gisha spokesperson Shai Grundberg told Reuters.
The organisation estimates thousands of Palestinians still in Gaza hold foreign citizenship, residency, student visas, or eligibility for entry into a third country through family reunification visas or similar programs.
‘WE WILL COME BACK’
Only a fraction of Gazans meet the present Israeli criteria for being allowed out. For those who do, the choice is not easy.
Many fear leaving their land would result in another “Nakba” or catastrophe, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were dispossessed of their homes in the 1948 war between Arab states and the newly created state of Israel. Many of those hoping to return within weeks remained refugees.
“We will come back to Gaza once the conditions allow, as soon as we can,” said poet Dunia Al-Amal Ismail, a 53-year-old widow who made it out as part of the same group as Ayoub, with her 21-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son.
Ismail secured a place in the same French academic program that helps researchers, artists and their families get out of conflict zones.
Those leaving face a perilous journey through the enclave, which is scattered with unexploded rockets and shells. Palestinians are gathered by vehicles before dawn and driven to an Israeli-run border crossing, where they undergo Israel security checks before being processed by foreign diplomats, the people Reuters spoke to said.
Israel only allows those leaving to bring one small bag each. They travel in buses under Israeli military ******* to the Jordan border, four diplomats said.
Aware of severe food scarcity, the diplomats said they bring sandwiches and drinks for those leaving Gaza.
One diplomat said a ************ man, eating a chicken sandwich, had commented that he had forgotten the taste of meat.
An academic among the group that recently arrived in France described meeting the diplomats in the desert.
“All of a sudden, a fridge appears from nowhere, and you see everything you have been deprived of for many months,” he told Reuters. “I ate, but with pain in my chest for the people who we left behind.”
Several of the Palestinians Reuters spoke to declined to be identified for fear of retribution from ****** and other armed groups.
Travel documents present logistical challenges, several of the diplomats said. Some papers have been lost in the war, while others are needed for children born since it began. Some must have travel documents issued by the ************ Authority in Ramallah or Cairo, they said.
From Jordan, they board flights to the countries that helped them leave, though there have been some flights from Israel, according to the diplomats, flight data and Israel’s Interior Ministry.
For Ayoub, painful memories weigh heavily.
One of Ayoub’s sisters, her husband and their son were killed in bombardments at the start of the war, which was triggered by the ******-led attack on southern Israeli communities on October 7, 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 were taken as hostages to Gaza.
Ayoub’s nephew, an architect, had also recently won a fellowship in France but never made it out. He died on Thursday from injuries he sustained in an airstrike. The French programme backing the fellowship issued a statement mourning his death.
Ayoub was conflicted about leaving: relieved to secure a better future for his children but at the same time distraught “because I left my sister and her children, and many people who are dear to me,” he said, referring to another of his siblings.
“One moment I’m happy, and the next I remember what’s happening in Gaza,” Ayoub said.
