  2. Gold Coast Titans sign young gun to long-term deal Gold Coast Titans sign young gun to long-term deal Gold Coast have earmarked Keano Kini as their long-term fullback by signing the 21-year-old to a new four-year contract. Kini had already been contracted until the end of 2026 but will now remain with the Titans until the end of the 2030 season. The deal is a showing of faith in Kini amid a serious neck injury that has sidelined him indefinitely. Kini is now the Titans’ equal-longest contracted player alongside former Queensland representative AJ Brimson. Only Manly’s Haumole Olakau’atu and Newcastle recruit Dylan hold longer guaranteed deals across the NRL, though others have player options that also reach into the next decade. Kini had a breakout 2024 season, winning the Paul Broughton Medal as the Titans’ player of the year and making his international debut for New Zealand. Auckland-born Kini was nominated for the International Rugby League’s Golden Boot Award for his performances in the Pacific Championships and has played 24 NRL games so far. “Keano is still only in the early stages of his NRL career, but he’s already showed that he’s capable of having a huge impact on games,” said Titans coach Des Hasler. “Keano’s professionalism and attitude has made him both a valued and well-liked member of the club both on and off field. “Family is very important to Keano and he and his partner have just welcomed their first child and it’s great that they’ll be able to continue to raise their family here on the Coast.” Source link #Gold #Coast #Titans #sign #young #gun #longterm #deal Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

And, yes, it was struck by a large vehicle The Beckman Road bridge over Interstate 90 in Girard Township will be demolished. Several of the bridge beams were significantly damaged when the bridge was hit by a large vehicle in February. The bridge has been closed since the collision and will be replaced, but not immediately. A new bridge will be built when reconstruction of the interstate resumes in 2028. Domino effect The Beckman Road bridge will be the fifth bridge over I-90 in western Erie County to be damaged by an oversized vehicle and then demolished. The Platz Road bridge in Fairview Township was removed in 2011. The Pond Road bridge in Springfield Township was demolished in 2018. Neither bridge was replaced. The Route 215 bridge in Springfield was demolished and replaced in 2021. The Route 18 bridge in Girard Township was demolished in fall 2021 and replaced in 2022. Targets: Why I-90 bridges are getting hit in western Erie County but not on the east side Two more west Erie County bridges over the interstate were hit by large vehicles, repaired and later replaced, at Route 98 in Fairview and Huntley Road in Springfield. The bridges were built with the interstate in 1959 and were about 14 feet over the highway. The clearance for modern bridges is 16½ feet to accommodate larger vehicles. The Beckman Road bridge plan The superstructure, or upper portion, of the bridge and its pier support are expected to be removed this year. No date for the work has been announced. Lanes on the interstate will be closed at times between the Girard and Fairview interchanges when the bridge is removed. Rolling traffic stops will also be needed to accommodate the work. The detour for Beckman Road traffic will remain in place until a new bridge is built. Traffic has been routed onto Tannery, Sterrettania, Keefer and Franklin roads. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation had planned to demolish and replace the bridge in 2028. It was used by about 125 vehicles daily. 6. US green energy braces for federal funding cuts US green energy braces for federal funding cuts Zoe Corbyn Technology Reporter Reporting fromSan FranciscoGetty Images President Trump has described windfarms as “disgusting” and “ugly” US green fuel company HIF Global has a big vision for Texas’s Matagorda County: a $7bn (£5.2bn) commercial scale e-methanol factory to supply the world market. The plant, which it claims would be the largest to date anywhere, would make e-methanol from captured carbon dioxide and green hydrogen produced on site using renewable energy. Its construction would create thousands of jobs and the product would power ships and planes in a far cleaner way. But the company has yet to make its final investment decision. It is waiting to see what the Republican-led Congress does to clean energy tax credits, in particular the one for clean hydrogen production. The fate of the subsidies is part of a sweeping budget bill currently under consideration by the Senate. A version of the legislation passed by the lower house cuts the hydrogen tax credit, amongst others, and scales back more. The clean hydrogen tax credit would help reduce the cost of the American technology going into the facility, and aide in competing with ******** e-methanol producers, says Lee Beck, HIF Global’s senior vice president for global policy and commercial strategy. “The goal is not to be dependent on tax credits over the long run, but to get the project started.” Ms Beck can’t say yet what the outcome for the Matagorda facility will be if the tax credit is ultimately killed, except that it will make things hard – and the US isn’t the only location the company operates in. HIF HIF Global has a demonstration e-fuel producing facility in Punta Arenas, Chile The Trump administration has been particularly hostile to green energy. Amongst the President’s actions since taking office in January include initiating the US’s withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement and temporarily suspending renewable energy projects on federal lands (he has a particular disdain for wind power). Trump has also directed agencies to pause Green New Deal funds, which he regularly calls “Green New Scam” funds: grants and loans being made under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), enacted under Biden’s presidency in 2021 and 2022 respectively. Those grants and loans, together with the clean energy tax credits that are also part of the IRA, have been funnelling billions of new federal and private dollars into developing clean energy. “It is tumultuous time,” says Adie Tomer, of the Brookings Institution, a think tank. “We are doing the exact opposite of our developed world peers.” Court battles are ongoing over the President’s order to pause green funding, which might ultimately end up in the Supreme Court. In the meantime, agencies are conducting their own reviews and making their own decisions. Getty Images Green energy firms are watching developments on the budget bill Jessie Stolark, executive director of the Carbon Capture Coalition, which represents companies involved in carbon capture and storage, laments the lack of clarity from the administration. Members, she explains, have won project funding under the IIJA – including, for example, to build direct air capture facilities. But while projects generally have been able to access funds already awarded to earlier phases, it is unclear if they will be able to progress to additional phases where additional funds are supposed to be made available. “It is causing uncertainty, which is really bad for project deployment,” says Ms Stolark. “If you endanger the success of these first-of-a-kind projects it just takes the wind out of the sails of the whole [carbon management] industry long term.” Meanwhile, the fate of the IRA, which the Congress has the power to amend or repeal along with the IIJA, is being decided, in part, by the budget bill, which aims to permanently extend President Trump’s first term tax cuts by making savings elsewhere. What exactly will remain of the Federal green energy agenda when both the House and Senate agree a compromise version remains to be seen. It seems likely the IRA’s tax credits, which are generally scheduled to expire at the end of 2032, though some extend beyond that date, will take a heavy hit, even if the IRA dodges the bullet of outright repeal. Also marked for termination include the tax credits for consumers buying EVs and making their homes more efficient. Many others, such as those for producing clean electricity and manufacturing clean energy components like wind turbine parts, solar panels and batteries, would be phased out earlier or made harder and less worthwhile to secure. That many of the projects set to benefit from the tax credits are in Republican areas seems to have had little sway in the House, notes Ashur Nissan of policy advice firm Kaya Partners. But critics say that the Biden green energy initiatives are too expensive. The IRA’s energy tax credits are “multiple times” larger than initial estimates, and expose American taxpayers to “potentially unlimited liability” noted a recent report from the libertarian Cato Institute advocating their full repeal. Meanwhile, actual clean energy investment in the US including from both government and private sources (the far larger share) dropped 3.8% in the first quarter of 2025 to $67.3bn, a second quarterly decline, according to new figures released by the Clean Investment Monitor. “Momentum is sagging a bit which is a little concerning,” says Hannah Hess of the Rhodium Group research firm, which partners with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to produce it. She attributes the trend to a mix of high inflation, high interest rates, global supply chain issues and uncertainty in the policy environment created by the new administration. There was also, she observes, a record number of clean energy manufacturing projects cancelled in the first quarter of 2025 – six projects mostly in batteries and representing $6.9bn in investment– though it is difficult to say to what extent the new administration was a driver. More worrying to Ms Hess is the decline since the last quarter in announcements for some types of new projects, which she believes can be “more strongly” attributed to the policy situation, with companies lacking confidence there will be demand for the clean products their projects would produce. Heirloom Firms that capture CO2 from the air have won government funding Tariffs, which will increase factory construction costs if components need to be imported, are an extra factor that may negatively influence project decisions going forward, notes Anthony DeOrsey of the Cleantech Group research and consulting firm. Investment aside, companies are also making shifts in how they market their products. The homepage of LanzaJet – which produces Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from ethanol – used to emphasise how scaling SAF could “meet the urgent moment of climate change”. It now focusses on its potential to “harness the energy of locally produced feedstocks”. SAF has never been about just one thing, notes CEO Jimmy Samartzis. Tailoring messaging to be “relevant to the stakeholders we are engaging with” makes sense. The company is current waiting on a $3m grant it was awarded by the Federal Aviation Authority last August as part of a nearly $300m program designed to help aviation transition to SAF and which was funded under the IRA. “It is approved funding, but it is stuck at this point,” says Mr Samartzis. 7. How the West is helping Russia to fund its war on Ukraine How the West is helping Russia to fund its war on Ukraine Vitaly Shevchenko Russia editor, BBC Monitoring Getty Images In the fourth year of its full-scale invasion, Russia is still making billions for its war on Ukraine by selling fossil fuels abroad Russia has continued to make billions from fossil fuel exports to the West, data shows, helping to finance its full-scale invasion of Ukraine – now in its fourth year. Since the start of that invasion in February 2022, Russia has made more than three times as much money by exporting hydrocarbons than Ukraine has received in aid allocated by its allies. Data analysed by the BBC show that Ukraine’s Western allies have paid Russia more for its hydrocarbons than they have given Ukraine in aid. Campaigners say governments in Europe and North America need to do more to stop Russian oil and gas from fuelling the war with Ukraine. How much is Russia still making? Proceeds made from selling oil and gas are key to keeping Russia’s war machine going. Oil and gas account for almost a third of Russia’s state revenue and more than 60% of its exports. In the wake of the February 2022 invasion, Ukraine’s allies imposed sanctions on Russian hydrocarbons. The US and *** banned Russian oil and gas, while the EU banned Russian seaborne crude imports, but not gas. Despite this, by 29 May, Russia had made more than €883bn ($973bn; £740bn) in revenue from fossil fuel exports since the start of the full-scale invasion, including €228bn from the sanctioning countries, according to the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA). The lion’s share of that amount, €209bn, came from EU member states. EU states continued importing pipeline gas directly from Russia until Ukraine cut the transit in January 2025, and Russian crude oil is still piped to Hungary and Slovakia. Russian gas is still piped to Europe in increasing quantities via Turkey: CREA’s data shows that its volume rose by 26.77% in January and February 2025 over the same ******* in 2024. Hungary and Slovakia are also still receiving Russian pipeline gas via Turkey. Despite the West’s efforts, in 2024 Russian revenues from fossil fuels fell by a mere 5% compared with 2023, along with a similar 6% drop in the volumes of exports, according to CREA. Last year also saw a 6% increase in Russian revenues from crude oil exports, and a 9% year-on-year increase in revenues from pipeline gas. Russian estimates say gas exports to Europe rose by up to 20% in 2024, with liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports reaching record levels. Currently, half of Russia’s LNG exports go the EU, CREA says. The EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, says the alliance has not imposed “the strongest sanctions” on Russian oil and gas because some member states fear an escalation in the conflict and because buying them is “cheaper in the short term”. LNG imports have not been included in the latest, 17th package of sanctions on Russia approved by the EU, but it has adopted a road map towards ending all Russian gas imports by the end of 2027. Data shows that money made by Russia from selling fossil fuels has consistently surpassed the amount of aid Ukraine receives from its allies. The thirst for fuel can get in the way of the West’s efforts to limit Russia’s ability to fund its war. Mai Rosner, a senior campaigner from the pressure group Global Witness, says many Western policymakers fear that cutting imports of Russian fuels will lead to higher energy prices. “There’s no real desire in many governments to actually limit Russia’s ability to produce and sell oil. There is way too much fear about what that would mean for global energy markets. There’s a line drawn under where energy markets would be too undermined or too thrown off kilter,” she told the BBC. ‘Refining loophole’ In addition to direct sales, some of the oil exported by Russia ends up in the West after being processed into fuel products in third countries via what is known as “the refining loophole”. Sometimes it gets diluted with crude from other countries, too. CREA says it has identified three “laundromat refineries” in Turkey and three in India processing Russian crude and selling the resulting fuel on to sanctioning countries. It says they have used €6.1bn worth of Russian crude to make products for sanctioning countries. India’s petroleum ministry criticised CREA’s report as “a deceptive effort to tarnish India’s image”. Getty Images Western nations, including the ***, are importing Russian fossil fuels from “laundromat refineries” “[These countries] know that sanctioning countries are willing to accept this. This is a loophole. It’s entirely legal. Everyone’s aware of it, but nobody is doing much to actually tackle it in a big way,” says Vaibhav Raghunandan, an analyst at CREA. Campaigners and experts argue that Western governments have the tools and means available to stem the flow of oil and gas revenue into the Kremlin’s coffers. According to former Russian deputy energy minister Vladimir Milov, who is now a diehard opponent of Vladimir Putin, sanctions imposed on trade in Russian hydrocarbons should be better enforced – particularly the oil price cap adopted by the G7 group of nations, which Mr Milov says “is not working“. He is fearful, though, that the US government shake-up launched by President Donald Trump will hamper agencies such as the US Treasury or the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), which are key for sanctions enforcement. Another avenue is continued pressure on Russia’s “shadow fleet” of tankers involved in dodging the sanctions. “That is a complex surgery operation. You need to periodically release batches of new sanctioned vessels, shell companies, traders, insurers etc. every several weeks,” Mr Milov says. According to him, this is an area where Western governments have been much more effective, particularly with the introduction of new sanctions by Joe Biden’s outgoing administration in January 2025. Mai says that banning Russian LNG exports to Europe and closing the refining loophole in Western jurisdictions would be “important steps in finishing the decoupling of the West from Russian hydrocarbons”. According to Mr Raghunandan from CREA, it would be relatively easy for the EU to give up Russian LNG imports. “Fifty percent of their LNG exports are directed towards the European Union, and only 5% of the EU’s total [LNG] gas consumption in 2024 was from Russia. So if the EU decides to completely cut off Russian gas, it’s going to hurt Russia way more then it’s going to hurt consumers in the European Union,” he told the BBC. Trump’s oil-price plan to end war Experts interviewed by the BBC have dismissed Donald Trump’s idea that the war with Ukraine will end if Opec brings oil prices down. “People in Moscow are laughing at this idea, because the party which will suffer the most… is the American shale oil industry, the least cost-competitive oil industry in the world,” Mr Milov told the BBC. Mr Raghunandan says that Russia’s cost of producing crude is also lower than in Opec countries like Saudi Arabia, so they would be hurt by lower oil prices before Russia. “There is no way that Saudi Arabia is going to agree to that. This has been tried before. This has led to conflict between Saudi Arabia and the US,” he says. Ms Rosner says there are both moral and practical issues with the West buying Russian hydrocarbons while supporting Ukraine. “We now have a situation in which we are funding the aggressor in a war that we’re condemning and also funding the resistance to the war,” she says. “This dependence on fossil fuels means that we are really at the whims of energy markets, global energy producers and hostile dictators.” Source link #West #helping #Russia #fund #war #Ukraine Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  10. Posts claim West Point cadets ‘silently revolted’ against Trump, refusing to shake his hand. Here’s what we know Posts claim West Point cadets ‘silently revolted’ against Trump, refusing to shake his hand. Here’s what we know A rumor that circulated online in May 2025 claimed U.S. Military Academy West Point cadets silently revolted against President Donald Trump’s attendance to deliver the commencement address at their May 24 graduation ceremony, secretly coming to an agreement beforehand to refuse to shake his hand. Numerous social media users copied and pasted an alleged report about this matter attributed to the author name Robert Hawks. The story’s headline read, “West Point Cadets’ Silent Revolt—Anonymous Graduates and Faculty Reveal Why President Trump Didn’t Shake Their Hands.” For example, this rumor appeared on Bluesky, Facebook (archived), LinkedIn (archived), Reddit (archived), Threads (archived), Truth Social (archived), X (archived) and other (archived) platforms (archived). (Image courtesy of @jg1234567/X) The manager of a Facebook profile bearing Hawks’ name first featured the report about the claim in a post (archived) on May 28, which said cadets’ loyalty to their honor code led them to decide “behind closed doors” that they would refuse to shake Trump’s hand. That cadet honor code, authentically published on the West Point website (archived) and displayed on the Military Academy campus in West Point, New York, reads, “A Cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.” Hawks’ post included photos appearing to show former U.S. presidents shaking hands at past military branch diploma ceremonies. (Image courtesy of Robert Hawks/Facebook) However, searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo found no news media outlets credibly reporting that West Point cadets organized to refuse to shake Trump’s hand. We were unable to locate any evidence to confirm or disprove the rumor about a planned handshake refusal, as of this writing, and as a result we have not rated the claim. As reported later in this story, while Trump did leave the graduation early, breaking a tradition held by recent past presidents who stayed for diploma ceremonies for military branches, video showed him shaking the hands of several cadets and other officials during his time at the venue. Further, Trump honored the tradition of staying for the diploma ceremonies at various military branch graduations during all four years of his first term in office. In a statement to Snopes, the White House called the news of Trump leaving early “a non-story,” and claimed (without yet providing evidence) that Trump shook “hundreds” of hands of military leaders and cadets before delivering his graduation speech. Hawks’ profile did not feature any disclaimers saying the post was fiction or satire. The user’s post timeline contained a mixture of authentic, unfounded and fabricated content. For example, while one fabricated story (archived) from May 20 told of the White House announcing a murderous “purge night,” other posts reported authentic news about a man’s execution (archived) and plans for a parade on Trump’s birthday (archived). Two AI-detection websites found a high likelihood of Hawks using an artificial-intelligence (AI) tool to write the report, while four others concluded it was likely that a human wrote the text. Snopes contacted Hawks via Messenger to ask questions about their post, including about what inspired them to write the story, if they categorize some of their content as fiction, satire or parody, and also if they used AI. We also emailed public affairs personnel at West Point to ask if they could comment on the matter and confirm the truth. We will update this article if we receive more information. Trump’s early departure, golf rumor Trump’s speech at the West Point graduation, occurring at Michie Stadium, featured moments in which he directly addressed cadets as well as political comments similar to those heard at his past campaign rallies. During Trump’s remarks, he singled out cadets’ academic accomplishments and asked some of them to stand for recognition. He also called onstage at least three cadets and shook their hands. Near the end of his speech, he signaled he planned to leave prior to the handing out of diplomas, announcing, “So I just want to congratulate you all. I’m going back now to deal with Russia, to deal with China.” As he left the stage, he shook four more hands. He also shook the hand of Lt. Gen. Steven W. Gilland, the Military Academy’s superintendent. As Snopes reported, Trump’s early departure broke a tradition at military commencements held for years by other past presidents, in which they had stayed after delivering their speeches to observe and participate in the handing out of diplomas. Those presidents included, for example, all years served by Joe Biden, Trump during his first term, Barack Obama and George W. Bush. Additionally, former Vice President Kamala Harris delivered commencement speeches at military branch graduations in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, including staying to shake hands and observe diploma ceremonies in all four years, as did Vice President JD Vance following his commencement address at the U.S. Naval Academy in May 2025. A similar rumor that circulated at the same time — which claimed Trump played golf, or that a video showed him playing golf, in the hours after leaving the West Point graduation and returning to Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey — also lacked definitive evidence. 11. Elden Ring Nightreign Raider Class Guide Elden Ring Nightreign Raider Class Guide Elden Ring Nightreign features a number of different classes to choose from as you and a couple of friends go up against the Night Lords. The Raider is a heavy character, best used with large weapons, like battle axes. Despite his large size, he is not exactly a tank like the Guardian class, but he can take quite a bit of damage. The Raider is best if you enjoy using slow-but-hard-hitting weapons. He pairs well with Ironeye, as breaking Ironeye’s Marking ability deals a ton of damage. This guide covers the Raider’s abilities, along with some Relic types that work well. Be sure to also check out our look at the best Elden Ring Nightreign classes and our Elden Ring Nightreign guides hub. How the Raider Class works in Elden Ring Nightreign The Raider excels with heavy weapons, but swings them real slow. The Raider is all about Strength, which is really the only attribute he has going for him. That makes two-handed weapons, although you will want to dual wield them, his primary go-to, which can make using him a bit difficult. Nightreign moves quickly, and the Raider moves slowly, with slow weapon swings. He also is lacking in Stamina, limiting the frequency of his attacks, making it even slower to deal damage as the Raider. With attentive teammates and at least one other melee attacker, the Raider works well. The Raider has some relatively strong abilities, which we have detailed below: Passive Ability: Fighter’s Resolve Taking enough damage increases the output of the Raider’s character skill. The boost makes it so you cannot be knocked down while using it and increases the damage output. You can tell when this kicks by the audio cue or the white haze that appears coming off the Raider. Character Skill: Retaliate Using this causes the Raider to assume a powerful stance and start throwing punches. When used with the passive charge, it does low damage and little stagger, but that damage and stagger is massively increased with the passive active. Ultimate Art: Totem Stela The Raider drives his knife into the ground, causing a giant tombstone to appear underneath. This can be used in a couple ways. This will do damage and knock over enemies it’s used under, it can be used as an obstruction in the battlefield, and you can use it to raise up a downed teammate, for a slightly easier spot to revive them. The Raider has high damage capabilities, but you will need to be mindful of your Stamina and slow attacks. Best relics for Raider The Raider serves as a heavy hitter, but slow movement makes him bad as a tank. With the random nature of Relic drops, it’s difficult to recommend an exact item to use, but here are the Relic types that often drop great stats for the Raider. The Raider’s default Urn includes one red and two green slots, while the Raider’s Goblet, obtained at the Small Jar Bazaar, contains a Red, Blue, and Yellow. Polished Burning Scene This relic can be seen dropping with boosts to Strength and specific armaments. In particular, there is one boost for HP Restoration upon using Axe Attacks, which can make it easier to sustain yourself as the Raider. Grand Drizzly Scene The Grand Drizzly Scene can also drop with increased Strength stats, and increased Ultimate Art Gauge, which allows you to use the Totem Stela more frequently, and this can be especially useful in tough boss fights where you would want a place to stand safely away from combat. The best Raider stats to look for are Strength, increased Stamina and Stamina recovery, and any boosts related to heavy two-handed weapons. For additional tips, we have guides covering how to revive teammates faster, the best ways to farm runes, and how to break statues for some vital loot. 13. Where To Find Smithing Stones And Upgrade Weapons In Elden Ring Nightreign Where To Find Smithing Stones And Upgrade Weapons In Elden Ring Nightreign Elden Ring Nightreign’s Smithing Stones are what you need to upgrade weapons, the same as in Elden Ring but as we mentioned in our Nightreign tips guide, finding these items works a bit differently than you might be used to. Basic stones come from a few locations, but stones for stronger weapons only have a specific area where they drop. There’s also no upgrade stone higher than Smithing Stone 2. You just need a lot of them to max out a weapon’s potential. Our Elden Ring Nightreign Smithing Stone guide explains how to upgrade weapons and where to find both types of Smithing Stone. We’ve also got a guide on where to go first. Where to find Smithing Stones in Nightreign Merchants set up shop across Limveld. Basic Smithing Stones, the brown-ish colored ones, have a moderate chance of dropping from enemies or popping out of a chest, though you can also spend 6,000 Runes to buy one from a merchant. Merchants are dotted around the map, usually near the castle and at a handful of camps. Use the “overview” option when your map is out to see specific locations. The hooded person icon indicates a merchant’s location. Basic Smithing Stones only work for basic armaments–your starting weapon, for example, and any other weapon with a grey namecard background. Only buy standard Smithing Stones as you need them. You can’t use them for anything other than basic armaments, so there’s no benefit to stocking up on them. For anything else, you need Smithing Stone 2, and those are more challenging to find. Where to find Smithing Stone 2 in Nightreign Unless you get a really rare drop, it’s always worth picking the Smithing Stone. Smithing Stone 2 comes from minor bosses in any mine. Mine bosses include a cave troll near the inner platform, a handful of Redmane Knights, or a pumpkin-headed monster. You’ll know you defeated the boss, as they drop an item, which gives you the choice of a Smithing Stone 2 or a weapon or passive buff. It’s more advisable to grab the Smithing Stone 2 in almost every case, unless your other option is the ideal weapon for your build. Some item drops from formidable enemies in the field will include one Smithing Stone 2, but this happens infrequently. It takes one Smithing Stone 2 to upgrade a weapon to “rare” or +2 purple status and two more to upgrade it to “legendary” or +3 gold status. You’ll need to defeat three mine bosses if you want to take a single armament to legendary status, and you almost always only have time to fully upgrade a single armament. Upgrading your other useful weapons to +1 or +2 is typically a better use of time and stones, assuming you’re using more than one weapon. That way, you head into the Night Lord fight with a stronger supply of weapons instead of only having one powerful choice. How to upgrade weapons in Nightreign There’s no Rune cost to upgrade weapons. Once you have the necessary materials, find a merchant using the overlay on your map to see where they all are. Every merchant has a smithing anvil next to them, which you can use free of charge. Any weapon except for legendary-class armaments can be upgraded, though bear in mind that most starting armaments cannot be upgraded beyond +2. 14. Griffin sets early Memorial pace, Aussie trio misfire Griffin sets early Memorial pace, Aussie trio misfire After winning a tournament on Sunday, Ben Griffin stayed hot by shooting a seven-under-par 65 to take the first-round lead at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio. Griffin’s card featured one eagle and a three-birdie run at Nos.16-18 at Muirfield Village Golf Club. He finished the day with a two-shot advantage over Collin Morikawa, a two-time runner-up at the tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus. Griffin, 29, won his first PGA Tour title last month at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans team event with Andrew Novak. He validated that victory with his first individual win this past week at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club. In third place was Max Homa with a four-under 68. Homa has fared better since parting with caddie Joe Greiner, who now works for Morikawa. Homa is searching for his first win on tour since January 2023. US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley and Irishman Shane Lowry are tied for fourth at three-under 69 at the $20 million signature event, which will feature a cut Friday from 72 players to the top 50 and ties, plus anyone within 10 shots of the lead. World No.1 and defending champion Scottie Scheffler posted a two-under 70. Only 13 players managed to shoot under par Thursday. *********** trio Min Woo Lee (four-over 76), Cam Davis (78) and Adam Scott (79) are all battling to make the cut. 15. How To Increase Healing Flask Charges In Elden Ring Nightreign How To Increase Healing Flask Charges In Elden Ring Nightreign Healing is one of the most important elements of Elden Ring Nightreign. You need to ensure you’re staying healthy all throughout a run so you have the best possible chance of surviving the nights and making it to the next day to square off against the boss you’re hunting. However, by default in Elden Ring Nightreign, you’re only given three Healing Flask Charges, which are enough for the early stages of an expedition, but not nearly enough for the final battle. To ensure you have the most Healing Flasks possible in Nightreign, check out the guide below to see how to get more of them, and check out our roundup of Nightreign tips to help you get started. How to get more Healing Flask Charges in Elden Ring Nightreign Fortunately, there are a couple of concrete ways to increase your flask charges, and neither is overly difficult. The first method is to simply defeat the boss at the end of the night during an expedition. When you’re on an expedition, you need to initially survive one night by making it to the center of the map’s zone and then defeating a major boss. The first night’s boss is usually a single enemy that you and your team work together to fell. For example, during the first expedition of the game, the boss on the first night is the Bell Bearing Hunter. Defeating a major boss at the end of the night grants you an additional flask charge. Then, you’ll make it to the next day and need to survive again for another night, defeating an even tougher boss when the map’s zone has shrunk again. The second night’s boss is always tougher and often features multiple bosses to defeat. After defeating any major boss to make it to the next day, Nightreign rewards you with one additional Healing Flask Charge. This means once you defeat the Bell Bearing Hunter in your first expedition, when you start the next day, you’ll have one more flask charge to use. The same goes for defeating the major boss at the end of the second day, and so on. So, if all you do is defeat major bosses to survive the night, you’ll continually get more flask charges to use against the final boss of the expedition. However, defeating major bosses isn’t the only way to increase your flask charges. The more common and efficient way to boost your Healing Flask Charges is by visiting Statues of Marika all around the map in Nightreign. Statues of Marika are located in multiple spots on the map, and when you visit one, you can interact with a candle-lit table right in front of the statue. This rewards you with a single charge for your Healing Flasks. Adding one charge to the Healing Flask at a Statue of Marika You can easily locate Statues of Marika by looking for the church icon on your map, as shown in the screenshot below. (Be sure to also check out our guide on where to go first in Nightreign.) One of the best strategies to survive for the longest time during expeditions is hitting all of the available Statues of Marika before they’re engulfed by the gas that constantly creeps in around the map. By collecting all these additional flask charges, you’re setting yourself up excellently for the final encounter with the expedition boss. The Statue of Marika icon on the map You should be able to visit at least two or three Statues of Marika each day during an expedition. This, paired with defeating the major boss at the end of the night, will give you roughly 10 Healing Flasks to use against the final boss. Of course, you still want to ensure you’re visiting Sites of Grace to constantly refill the flasks you’ve already used, as you’re likely to blow through all 10 of them fairly quickly as you progress and the bosses get tougher. While there aren’t a slew of ways to increase your Healing Flask Charges in Elden Ring Nightreign, you can use the options available to you quite efficiently. 16. I tried exploring a real-time generated AI world, and it was like walking through the uncanny valley I tried exploring a real-time generated AI world, and it was like walking through the uncanny valley Google Maps Street View and similar tools allow you to virtually navigate real-world locations from the ground, even if you can’t interact with what you see. A new tool from AI startup Odyssey offers an experience in AI-generated locations that you can interact with, and it’s produced in almost real-time. Odyssey calls it “interactive video,” an AI-powered world that reacts to your actions. You can visit the AI-made spaces, using your keyboard to explore a range of forests, stores, parking lots, and buildings that shift as you move. The system guesses and shows new parts of the video so fast that it feels like a blend of a video game and a weird dream. The interactive video utilizes what Odyssey calls a “world model,” which simulates a visual environment in response to your actions. You may like Unlike a traditional video game, where every texture, collision, and scenario is crafted ahead of time, Odyssey’s AI comes up with what you see on the fly. Every step you take prompts the AI to render a new frame, one that tries to make sense of your motion in context. It’s essentially a video that responds like a video game. Behind the scenes, the system generates a new video frame roughly every 40 milliseconds. That’s fast enough to make the experience feel fluid, even if it occasionally stutters or lags. The goal isn’t photorealism yet. Odyssey is more interested in responsiveness. The idea is to have AI generate the story of your exploration as you move around, rather than relying on pre-written narratives. Uncanny AI You can see a clip of some of my exploration above. The low-resolution visuals combined with the ambient soundtrack made it seem like I was in a low-budget avant-garde film, or possibly about to be murdered and my case given to some quirky but brilliant European detective. The textures are soft and slightly blurry. Walls sometimes ripple. I even walked on water at one point. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. But it is real, in the way an early 90s video game’s graphics are realistic. It’s like the terrible videos early cellphones shot, or how games like Doom and Quake look to my eyes after 30 years. Then again, Doom once looked like the future, and I took plenty of terrible videos on a flip phone just because I could and because I didn’t care that each pixel was the size of a pea. Odyssey is still glitchy, but it is impressive, at least enough to prompt more than a few people to respond on social media, accusing the company of lying about what they had created. Odyssey is well aware that they still have work to do. The company itself describes the experience as “a glitchy dream.” Or maybe the comparison should be a live improv show where you get called up on stage, as opposed to taking part in a polished and rehearsed play. There are still many technical, ethical, and basic functionality questions to be answered, but assuming they are addressed to people’s satisfaction, you can extrapolate a lot of interesting uses for Odyssey. With enough training data and fine-tuning, you could produce personalized experiences that adapt to your interests and style. Imagine exploring that previously mentioned ******* mystery where the characters react to your suspicions. Or a history lesson where Julius Caesar comments on your terrible toga-tying technique. Then again, it could also mean advertisements where the product placement literally walks over to you to strike up a chat. Wobbly visuals, inconsistent physics, and a lack of story logic are significant hurdles, but this could be the shape of all kinds of entertainment. 17. Boeing aims to certify 737 MAX variants by year-end, CEO tells Aviation Week Boeing aims to certify 737 MAX variants by year-end, CEO tells Aviation Week SEATTLE (Reuters) -Boeing expects to finish certification of its best-selling 737 MAX family by the end of the year, CEO Kelly Ortberg said in an interview with trade publication Aviation Week published on Wednesday. The company has been trying for several years to gain certification for the smallest and largest MAX variants from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The MAX 7 and MAX 10 have been delayed in part due to concerns with the engine de-icing system. Ortberg told Aviation Week that the U.S. planemaker hopes to finish certification this year, clearing the way to start deliveries of the MAX 7 and MAX 10, “two airplanes that are very, very important to our customers and our backlog.” Boeing’s backlog includes nearly 1,200 orders for the 737 MAX 10 and 332 orders for the MAX 7. United Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella this month told reporters that the company does not expect to take delivery of MAX 10s until 2027 at the earliest. Alaska Airlines officials have said they do not expect to receive the variant until at least mid-2026. Ortberg also said in the Aviation Week interview that Boeing was making progress on certifying the 777-9, the company’s largest jetliner in production. When the program was announced in 2013, Boeing planned to start deliveries in 2020. However, it is still in flight testing. Ortberg has previously said publicly that he expects deliveries to start next year. Boeing has 419 orders for the 777-9, according to its website. 18. Elden Ring Nightreign Matchmaking Has Specific Rules You Should Know Before You Play Elden Ring Nightreign Matchmaking Has Specific Rules You Should Know Before You Play Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking isn’t as simple as pressing a button and letting the game take care of everything. That’s especially true if you’re looking to tackle specific fights against the Night Lords, or want to play with people from other regions. In addition to how to play solo and multiplayer, there are a few matchmaking rules that aren’t explained in too much detail. If you’re only getting your bearings around the game, the process might lead to some frustrations. Fear not, though, as we’ll explain everything you need to know about how matchmaking works in Elden Ring Nightreign. How Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking works At its core, matchmaking in Elden Ring Nightregin is fairly straightforward. Interacting with the Table of Lost Grace at the Roundtable Hold opens up the Expeditions menu. From there, you can select which boss you want to tackle and immediately start matchmaking, which will search for two other available players who are on the same hunt as you are. If you’ve enabled the cross-region network option, you might be matched with people from, well, other regions. I’m based in Argentina, and I’ve primarily played with people from the United States, but latency was rarely an issue. Now, here’s where matchmaking in Elden Ring Nightreign gets tricky: The first available Night Lord is Tricephalos. You won’t gain access to other bosses until you’ve beaten it at least once. As such, if you want to matchmake with people who have other Night Lords unlocked, you’ll first need to tackle that requirement. This can be bypassed if you’re matchmaking through specific platforms’ party invites, but it won’t apply to random matchmaking with players outside your friends list. A party of Nightfarers arrives on day 1 in Limveld. Shifting Earth events are another condition. These are random instances that affect maps in an array of ways, which also become available after defeating our pal Tricephalos. Now, these are in rotation, and there are a few different conditions to unlock them all. You can matchmake with people who have a Shifting Earth event active, even if you don’t, but you must have encountered it at least once before. Then, there are also Character Remembrances. These lore snippets, which are different for each playable class, lead to unique objectives on your next expedition. If you have one active, you won’t be able to matchmake with other players who also have an active objective. Once again, you can bypass this step by inviting folks through your platform’s party system. If you do, only the first person to start the matchmaking process will have their objective on the map. In short, if you’re matchmaking with friends in Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll largely be able to join each other’s games without too many hurdles. When trying to find matches with random people, however, it might be tricky. At the very least, the more progress you make, the easier this will become. If you’re looking for more tips, we have guides covering the best way to farm runes, where to find smithing stones, and how to use relics. 20. Where To Find Incantations And Magic In Elden Ring Nightreign Where To Find Incantations And Magic In Elden Ring Nightreign Elden Ring Nightreign’s Incantations and magic don’t usually drop the way normal weapons and items do. Spells almost always come from fixed locations and are much less likely to drop from bosses and lesser enemies, so if you’re running a Recluse, Revenant, or even Duchess, making it a point to visit these locations before the third night is essential. This Elden Ring Nightreign guide explains where to find Incantations, seals, magic, and staves, and why it’s often best to take what you find even if the spells aren’t that great. Where to find Incantations and seals A comparatively weak boss is always in the chamber opposite this shrine. Incantations are equally as rare and only have three fixed places, one of which isn’t even marked on the map with an icon. Incantations are guaranteed to drop in the hidden shrine under cathedrals, though not every cathedral has one. In our experience, only the ones with fire monks or ghostly soldiers have underground chambers. Cathedrals with a golem inside or a squad of Oracle Envoys usually have nothing underneath, but there will be a corner on the ground floor with a small shrine that contains seals. Once you find the right cathedral, drop down the central hole in the ground. Follow the path ahead and turn right. You’ll see a small shrine, and interacting with it produces two seals, each with two Incantations attached to it. What Incantations they come with is completely random, though, as with every other weapon in Nightreign. There’s also a standard field boss, either a larger monk or soldier, in the chamber opposite the shrine, so head in there for a chance to get more Runes and another item drop. Cathedrals with no underground chamber have their shrines tucked in a corner instead. You can find a similar shrine at Limveld’s version of the Stormhill Shack. The shack isn’t marked on the map, but if you check the overview while the map is displayed, you’ll see an icon indicating a seal that’s not associated with a merchant. Speaking of merchants, you can buy a standard seal from merchants, though their stock is randomized in each expedition and may not always include seals. There’s also a chance of obtaining an Incantation after defeating a field boss or the boss who appears at the end of a night, though the chance seems to be quite low. Where to find magic and staves Every fort and castle has a tower chamber with a rack that holds two staves. The staves that cast sorcery spells are also guaranteed only in specific places, though those are much easier to find. A tower at the top of the large castle in the center of Limveld has a small room inside with a map that marks scarab locations on your map and a rack that holds two staves. Any smaller fort will have a similar tower, with a similar map and two more staves. In our experience, these tend to drop more often from bosses and other enemies compared to Incantations, though the rate is still rather low unless you’re playing as the Recluse. The Albinauric Staff and Staff of the Guilty are comparatively common drops, for example, though more powerful spells are much rarer. It’s worth checking any rise you unlock as well, since these may include a rare or even legendary weapon. When you find a staff or seal, make sure to check the passive effects it comes with. Even if the spell isn’t useful for your purposes, it may confer a buff such as reduced FP cost for spells or increased power for charged magic. Stick it in your inventory to get that effect without having to equip it. Source link #Find #Incantations #Magic #Elden #Ring #Nightreign Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  22. Elden Ring Nightreign Guardian Class Guide Elden Ring Nightreign Guardian Class Guide Every story needs a heroic figure, and Elden Ring Nightreign’s might be the Guardian class. The Pinionfolk knight is one of the first faces you’ll see at the Roundtable Hold, and for good reason. The character can not only be a damage powerhouse, but also an excellent frontrunner in terms of defense and abilities to help his teammates. There are multiple characters to pick, and it can’t be hard to decide on one in the heat of matchmaking, especially if somebody else calls dibs on your favorite. As such, being knowledgeable of the strengths and weaknesses of each will be beneficial in the short to long run. This guide covers everything you need to know about the Guardian class in Elden Ring Nightreign, from its attributes and abilities to the best relics. Be sure to also check out our look at the best Elden Ring Nightreign classes. How the Guardian class works in Elden Ring Nightreign In Elden Ring Nightreign, the Guardian class’ attributes are balanced toward HP and stamina, excelling at the former. He also has decent strength, while everything else should be a no-no from a prioritization perspective. If you’re the type of player who prefers to play the role of a tank in multiplayer games, the aptly named Guardian is a great choice. Don’t be afraid to get up close and personal with enemies using the Guardian class. The Guardian class has a passive ability, a character skill, and an Ultimate Art, which you can find below: Passive Ability: Steel Guard Steel Guard allows Guardian to get into a guard stance with a shield equipped, significantly improving the character’s Guard Boost and making it so attacks blocked by his shield will deplete less stamina than normal. Character Skill: Whirlwind Whirlwind has the character whip up a cyclone around him, engulfing nearby enemies and drawing them toward the center. It also sweeps away lightweight projectiles, and you can hold the ability button to enlarge its range. Ultimate Art: Wings of Salvation Wings of Salvation sees Guardian taking flight for a few seconds before diving back down to the ground with a downward attack. You can hold the ability button to shield nearby allies from damage, and for some extra help, the downward attack also revives teammates on near-death status. Every expedition benefits greatly with Guardian on the team. Being able to withstand multiple attacks with ease and helping allies with abilities are excellent traits separately, even more so in the same class. Best relics for Guardian There aren’t specific roles in Nightreign, but the Guardian class makes a mean tank. The random nature of finding relics makes it difficult to recommend a catch-all combination, especially since experimentation is part of the mechanic’s charm. That being said, there are a few options that can work well with the Wylder class: Polished Burning Scene There are a few buff variations of this relic that you should keep an eye on. Taking damage improves attack power is great to assume that tank role for the whole squad. So is flask also heals allies. There’s also Grand Burning Scene which, while aimed at the Duchess, offers HP recovery from successful guarding, a great pairing for the Guardian’s abilities. Polished Luminous Scene Again, plenty of variations here, but we’ve found certain buffs to be noteworthy. These include stamina recovery with each successful attack, and improvement to vigor and endurance. In short, gems that further increase health and stamina are a great fit for the Guardian class. If you’re curious about the alternative outfits for the character, check out our skins gallery and how to unlock them. 23. French Open 2025: Jack Draper beats Gael Monfils after Jacob Fearnley sets up Cameron Norrie clash French Open 2025: Jack Draper beats Gael Monfils after Jacob Fearnley sets up Cameron Norrie clash Over the past year, Draper has developed into a leading player with genuine ambitions of landing the biggest prizes in the sport. The way the Englishman, 23, overcame Monfils was another example of his growing maturity. After two chastening previous experiences on the Paris clay, Draper has returned with a point to prove. Patience was required as he battled from a set down against Italian opponent Mattia Bellucci on Tuesday to earn his first career win at Roland Garros. It was a similar theme against the popular Monfils, who can whip up the crowd with his entertaining shot-making and infectious character. The French fans have a reputation for being boisterous and, with one of their favourite sons playing in the twilight of his career, created an energetic atmosphere which Draper had to block out. Crucially, he remained calm for the majority of the entertaining contest. Despite having his errors enthusiastically cheered, with spectators implored to stop shouting out, Draper stayed locked in to retake the lead after Monfils levelled. Signs of agitation did show in the fourth set, though. 24. Elden Ring Nightreign Wylder Class Guide Elden Ring Nightreign Wylder Class Guide Elden Ring Nightreign is a complex multiplayer game, but the Wylder class provides some comfort as the ideal starting character. A jack-of-all-trades nature meets a fairly straightforward set of abilities to master, which is great, since you’ll have plenty to learn during the first few dozen expeditions to Limveld. There are multiple characters to pick, and it can’t be hard to decide on one in the heat of matchmaking, especially if somebody else calls dibs on your favorite. As such, being knowledgeable of the strengths and weaknesses of each will be beneficial in the short to long run. This guide covers everything you need to know about the Wylder class in Elden Ring Nightreign, from its attributes and abilities to the best relics. Be sure to also check out our look at the best Elden Ring Nightreign classes. How the Wylder class works in Elden Ring Nightreign In Elden Ring Nightreign, the Wylder class’ attributes are fairly balanced. He excels in HP and strength, and has decent dexterity and stamina. As such, he can use almost any melee weapon without faltering, with a preference for greatswords, and can also make use of bows and crossbows thanks to the dexterity stat. Prepare to see the Fell Omen often. The Wylder class has a passive ability, a character skill, and an Ultimate Art, which you can find below: Passive Ability: Sixth Sense Sixth Sense allows Wylder to survive an otherwise fatal attack, getting up on his feet almost instantly with a swift animation. The ability is used automatically, and it can be restored after being revived from near-death by a teammate or by passing through a Site of Grace. Character Skill: Claw Shot Claw Shot grants Wylder a grappling claw to reel weak enemies in, damaging anyone in the rope’s trajectory, or to move swiftly toward a big foe. It’s also effective at breaking an enemy’s guard. Ultimate Art: Onslaught Stake Onslaught Stake is a powerful attack that causes an explosion on impact. So powerful, in fact, that the recoil causes Wylder to reel back, which preserves a portion of the Ultimate Art gauge. Alternatively, you can hold the ability button to boost the impact and remain standing. Both active abilities are great for closing in on enemies, dealing damage, and then swiftly moving away to reposition yourself. The presence of Sixth Sense actually encourages this aggressiveness by providing a freebie second wind. It might not be the most complex class in Elden Ring Nightreign, but the simplicity is part of the charm, especially when you’re still learning the ropes. Best relics for Wylder The Wylder class is a great pick to learn the ropes. The random nature of finding relics makes it difficult to recommend a catch-all combination, especially since experimentation is part of the mechanic’s charm. That being said, there are a few options that can work well with the Wylder class: Polished Burning Scene A few good traits to keep an eye out for are stamina recovery with each successful attack, flask also heals allies, and anything that increases strength. We also found a Grand Burning Scene that reduces character skill cooldown, which fits the class well due to how it rewards playing aggressively. Night of the Baron If you want to try and pursue a build that focuses on dealing critical hits, this relic is a must. It improves critical hits, the Ultimate Art gauge fills moderately upon landing one, and doing so also boosts stamina recovery speed. In short, gems that further increase strength, HP, and stamina will be a great fit for the Wylder class. 25. Kasatkina through in Paris but thinking of Melbourne Kasatkina through in Paris but thinking of Melbourne In her first grand slam under the *********** flag, Daria Kasatkina has predictably become the last of the female green-and-gold brigade standing in the French Open main draw as she set up a blockbuster third-round match with top Spaniard Paula Badosa. But after winning her late-night match 6-4 6-2 on Court Suzanne Lenglen in straight sets over French wildcard Leolia Jeanjean, the 17th seed revealed she’s already thinking about next year’s *********** Open when she can really enjoy the support of fans from her new adopted country. Kasatkina broke into a broad smile and made the French crowd laugh too as she explained just how nervous the idea of her first Melbourne match as an Aussie made her. “Honestly, I cannot wait for next year in Melbourne – I know I’m gonna ***** my pants!” she declared. “I feel more and more support from the Aussies. And through the matches I can hear like, ‘Let’s go Aussie. Let’s go Aussie!’. So that’s amazing for me…Honestly, it’s a big honour. Yes, mate, I’m honestly enjoying it!” Kasatkina hopes to have set up home in Melbourne by the time of her new home slam, but, realistically, the French Open, where she’s been a junior champion, and a semi-finalist and quarter-finalist in the senior tournament will remain her best hope on her favourite clay surface. It’s not going to be easy to get that far this time as she duels again with former world no.2 Badosa, who she’s played six times with the pair winning three apiece. Kasatkina had to endure a long wait to get on court and took some time to find her stride against the world No.100 Jeanjean before she eventually started to dominate with her languid all-court quality, breaking the Frenchwoman’s serve six times. “Honestly, you know how tough it is to wait all day for your match, that is one of the most difficult things to do, to go out there and you are only semi-fresh because you are stepping on court late in the evening,” said Kasatkina, who’s in the third round at Roland Garros for the seventh time.
