  1. CBS Host Brennan Grills JD Vance On Trump’s Economic Promises CBS Host Brennan Grills JD Vance On Trump’s Economic Promises ‘Which Executive Order Lowers Prices?’: CBS Host Brennan Grills JD Vance On Trump’s Economic Promises On Jan. 26, Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan grilled Vice President JD Vance on the administration’s plans to tackle rising grocery prices. Her question was straightforward: “You campaigned on lowering prices for consumers. Which executive order lowers prices?” Vance, however, sidestepped specifics, focusing instead on broader goals. “We’ve done a lot, and there have been a number of executive orders that have already caused jobs to start coming back into our country, which is a core part of lowering prices,” he said. But he didn’t name a single order targeting grocery costs directly. Don’t Miss: Brennan didn’t let up, pushing him on when Americans might see relief, particularly for staples like eggs—an item that became a hot-button issue on the campaign trail. Egg prices have been through the roof. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, they jumped a whopping 36.8% between December 2023 and December 2024. A combination of an ongoing bird flu outbreak and state laws requiring cage-free production has put intense pressure on supplies. “Prices are going to come down, but it’s going to take a little bit of time,” Vance assured, adding, “The president has been president for all of five days, and in those five days, he’s accomplished more than Joe Biden did in four years.” Trending: Deloitte’s fastest-growing software company partners with Amazon, Walmart & Target – Many are rushing to grab 4,000 of its pre-IPO shares for just $0.26/share! Still, many experts say lowering food prices isn’t as simple as signing executive orders. Patrick Penfield, a supply chain expert at Syracuse University, told the New York Post that egg prices could climb another 20% this year, possibly reaching $5 a dozen in some areas. “The avian flu outbreak has been devastating, and complying with cage-free laws adds significant costs,” he explained. Brennan also called out the administration’s priorities, noting that most of Trump’s recent executive orders haven’t focused on the economy. While Vance claimed “many of them were,” he didn’t back it up with examples. See Also: Many are surprised by Mark Cuban’s advice for lotto winners: Cash or annuity? Meanwhile, broader inflation trends add to the complexity. Food prices rose by 2.5% overall last year, and the current inflation rate sits at 2.9%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Story Continues While that’s within manageable levels, experts like Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell warn against aiming for outright deflation, which historically has led to economic crises like the Great Depression. To make matters trickier, proposed tariffs on imports from major trading partners like Canada and Mexico could push grocery prices higher. The U.S. imports roughly 15% of its food supply, and new tariffs could make everyday items like beef, tomatoes, and avocados even more expensive, according to Eater. 3. RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 may arrive in March to steal AMD’s spotlight — Chaintech hints at higher Average Selling Prices RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 may arrive in March to steal AMD’s spotlight — Chaintech hints at higher Average Selling Prices Nvidia’s budget RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 GPUs are reportedly set to launch next month, per a slide shared by Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Chaintech (via wxnod). Chaintech asserts the RTX 5060 series will follow Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 in March. This claim should be taken with a grain of salt if Nvidia didn’t announce these GPUs at CES, and their launch is reportedly very near. Colorful, one of the largest GPU makers and highly visible in the South Asian and ******** markets, is a customer and partner of Chaintech. Due to the lack of information and context, the mentioned timeframes might be placeholders or more of an expectation from Nvidia. The slide reads, “NV [Nvidia] will launch new RTX 50 series products in early 2025, with an increased ASP [Average Selling Price].” The claim of a higher ASP makes sense for the RTX 5090 but not the RTX 5080. Nvidia charges $400 more for the RTX 5090; however, the RTX 5080 sees a $200 cut compared to the RTX 4080; realistically, you can’t get either at MSRP. Hence, judging if Nvidia would eye a price spike for its already-expensive 60-series isn’t easy. Then, we have the apparent elephant in the room, VRAM. EEC filings suggest that Nvidia, like the last generation, will introduce two variants of the RTX 5060 Ti, one with 8GB of memory and the other with 16. The $499 price tag for the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB previously raised a lot of brows and sparked criticism, scoring just 2.5 stars in our review. Any higher will be a tough sell, given that the RTX 5070 12GB is priced at $549. You can expand the tweet below to see the slide in question. A more realistic pricing approach will be to keep the RTX 5060 Ti series within the $400 territory, but that will depend on how AMD’s GPUs hold up. Specifications are in the dark; however, we suspect the RTX 5060 Ti might employ the GB206 die, which is rumored to feature 36 SMs (4,608 CUDA cores) and a 128-bit interface with GDDR7 support. Cut-down GB205 dies (used on the RTX 5070) are also possible. For the RTX 5060, GB207 is an unlikely fit as it reportedly offers just 20 SMs (2,560 CUDA cores), but you never know. AMD’s RDNA 4 series will debut in March and compete against the RTX 5070 and, possibly, even the RTX 5080. AMD’s Radeon RX 9060/9050 offerings will compete with the RTX 5060 Ti/RTX 5060, though the latter will likely debut after March, possibly at Computex. 4. Trump Fires Off Fresh Threat to Ten More Countries Trump Fires Off Fresh Threat to Ten More Countries President Donald Trump took to social media on Thursday night to threaten 10 more countries with tariffs if they replace the U.S. dollar as their reserve currency. “The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar, while we stand by and watch, is OVER,” he wrote in a post on Truth Social. “We are going to require a commitment from these seemingly hostile Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs.” It wasn’t immediately clear what inspired the evening rant. Starting Saturday, Trump also plans to hit Mexico and Canada with 25 percent tariffs. In late November, Trump posted almost the exact same threat verbatim against the BRICS countries, a term that was originally coined to describe the emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China. They’ve since formed an official international organization that also includes South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. An exchange with a reporter at the Oval Office on Jan. 20 revealed Trump didn’t even know which countries were in BRICS. “Spain is very low. Are they a BRICS nation?” he said to a reporter who was asking about defense spending. “What?” the reporter asked. “They’re a BRICS nation, Spain. You know what a BRICS nation is? You’ll figure it out,” he said. BRICS does not have a common currency but has discussed the idea for years, according to Reuters. It has also encouraged trading in local currencies in an attempt to weaken “dollar dominance,” the outsized role the U.S. dollar plays in the world economy, according to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. In response to Trump’s earlier threat, a Kremlin spokesperson said attempts to “compel” countries that use the dollar by imposing “economic force” would backfire, Reuters reported. The dollar remains strong thanks to a robust U.S. economy, tighter monetary policy and heightened geopolitical risks, according to Reuters. That didn’t stop Trump from conducting foreign policy via social media even as he had his hands full with the worst domestic aviation tragedy in more than two decades. As he was posting, rescuers continued to recover bodies from the freezing Potomac River following Wednesday’s midair collision between an American Airlines jet and a ****** Hawk Helicopter, killing 67 people. But the president is apparently a multitasker. “They can go find another sucker Nation,” he wrote. “There is no chance that BRICS will replace the U.S. Dollar in International Trade, or anywhere else, and any Country that tries should say hello to Tariffs, and goodbye to America!” Source link #Trump #Fires #Fresh #Threat #Ten #Countries Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  7. Watch Chiefs vs. Eagles on Sunday, February 9 Watch Chiefs vs. Eagles on Sunday, February 9 The Caesars Superdome will host Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, February 9. Here’s how to tune in to the big game! (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images) (Chris Graythen via Getty Images) Super Bowl LIX is about a week away, and the hype is building for the NFL’s final game of the season. The NFC champions the Philadelphia Eagles will face AFC champs — and two-time defending Super Bowl winners — the Kansas City Chiefs. If that roster sounds familiar, it’s because it’s a rematch of the 2023 Super Bowl, where the Chiefs edged out the Eagles 38-35. Will the Eagles get their revenge this year, or will the Chiefs go where no NFL team has gone before: an unprecedented three straight Super Bowl wins? Super Bowl LIX will be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA on Sunday, Feb. 9 with a 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show will feature Kendrick Lamar, who recently confirmed that SZA will be joining him. The championship game will be broadcast nationally on Fox this year and will be available on platforms like DirecTV Stream and Fubo. Looking for a free way to tune in? The Super Bowl will also be livestreamed on Tubi — in 4K, no less! Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the Super Bowl. When is Super Bowl LIX? The 2025 Super Bowl will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9. What time does the Super Bowl start? Super Bowl LIX kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. How to watch the Super Bowl live Super Bowl LIX will air nationally on Fox and stream live on Tubi. How to stream the Super Bowl for free this year Tubi will be livestreaming Fox’s coverage of the Super Bowl this year — the first time the free platform has done so. It will also be available in the Fox Sports app on mobile platforms. Beyond that, you can also sign up for free trials of DirecTV Stream, Fubo, YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV, each of which carry Fox in most locations. Two important caveats: Verify that your locality includes a Fox stream by inputting your ZIP code on their respective sites. And if you don’t want to pay, make sure you cancel before the trial subscription ends — they can be as short as three days, so plan ahead. Tubi will host a free livestream of Fox’s game day coverage of the 2025 Super Bowl. If you don’t have cable and aren’t looking to spend a dime to watch the big game, Tubi is a great free option to tune in. And with its pledge to stream the game in 4K, it could also provide the best video quality of the game — assuming your internet provider has the requisite bandwidth. For sports fans looking to catch every moment of the game, it should be noted that this will be Tubi’s first big live event — the Fox-owned platform sees most its views from content in its on-demand library. Beyond the Super Bowl, Tubi has a range of ad-supported on-demand content available totally free. They also have Tubi original programming including last year’s streaming standout: Sidelined: The QB and Me. Watch free at Tubi How to watch the 2025 Super Bowl without cable The Tubi option above is the easiest go-to starting point for free Super Bowl streaming — but no one knows how the service will hold up under what’s certain to be its most intensive influx of concurrent users. There are plenty of worthwhile backups, each of which offer more comprehensive options for cordcutters beyond the game itself — say, watching SportsCenter on ESPN before or after the game. And most of our picks for best live TV streaming services offer free trials, so you can check them out risk-free. If you time it right, your free trial can include the Super Bowl broadcast, too. DirecTV Stream is Engadget’s pick for “best cable without a contract.” And while we haven’t yet fully tested the service’s new MySports package yet, we’re highlighting it here for obvious reasons. It gets you access to all the usual football suspects: NFL Network, ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS and, of course, Fox. (Important: Verify your ZIP code before signing up to confirm that the local network affiliates, including Fox, are available in your area.) Right now, you can try all this out free, and then get your first three months for just $50/month. After that, the cost of this sports streaming package rises to $70/month (still cheaper than its competitors). So if you’re interested in trying out a live TV streaming service for watching football (next season), but aren’t ready to commit or drop a ton of money, DirecTV Stream and its MySports tier is worth checking out. You’ll also get unlimited Cloud DVR storage included in whatever DirecTV package you choose. Try free at DirecTV Prior to the debut of the MySports package, we named Fubo TV the best live TV streaming service for sports. It gives you access to ESPN, NFL Network, NBC, Fox, ABC, CBS and 100+ more live channels. (Important: Verify your ZIP code before signing up to confirm that the local network affiliates, including Fox, are available in your area.) At $80/month, the live TV streaming service is definitely a big investment for football fans. But it offers nearly every channel you’ll need to watch the NFL, and still leaves you with major savings compared to a traditional cable package. Fubo subscribers also get unlimited cloud DVR storage. You can try Fubo free right now. Try free at Fubo YouTube TV YouTube TV is our top overall choice for best live TV streaming service. Most locales will have Fox to watch the Super Bowl (again, check your ZIP code). YouTube TV offers sports-friendly stats and “fantasy football” views (at least during the regular season). It also offers tight integration with NFL Sunday Ticket. Just note that service requires an additional hefty fee — and is also available as a standalone. Try free at YouTube TV Hulu + Live TV offers a wide array of sports options (including Fox, in most localities, for the Super Bowl). It’s got fewer regional sports networks than some rivals, but this is the only one that bundles in on-demand services Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ as part of the base fee, which is why it’s number three on our list of top overall streaming TV recommendations. Try for free at Hulu + Live TV Where is the 2025 Super Bowl? The 2025 Super Bowl will be held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The venue has been host to seven previous Super Bowl games. Who is performing in the Super Bowl 59 halftime show? Kendrick Lamar is headlining Super Bowl LIX, with a guest appearance by SZA. Who is playing in the Super Bowl 2025? AFC champions the Kansas City Chiefs will play NFC champs the Philadelphia Eagles. More ways to watch Super Bowl LIX Thanks to the wide array of streaming options detailed above, you’ll be able to watch the Super Bowl on nearly any current device with a screen. There are plenty of Super Bowl TV deals ahead of the game if you need to upgrade that aging 40-inch screen with the dead pixels in the corner. Live close to a broadcast tower of a Fox station? Attach a good old-fashioned over-the-air antenna (like the Channel Master linked above), and you can get the game for free. Have a fast Internet connection but don’t have access to the latest and greatest streaming apps on your TV? For as little as $40 or less, a new Roku or Fire TV device will ensure that you have all of these apps (including Tubi). See our list of best streaming devices for the full range of options. 11. A school district near Boise closed this week as illnesses surged. What good will it do? A school district near Boise closed this week as illnesses surged. What good will it do? The Emmett School District canceled classes to deep clean all of its buildings, citing low attendance linked to the spread of various illnesses in the community. The district cited norovirus, COVID-19, influenza, RSV and pertussis, also known as whooping cough. “We hope this additional cleaning and an extended weekend will help students and staff recover and reduce further spread of illness,” the school district said on its Facebook page. Here are answers to three key questions about the spread of illness and disease in Emmett and other Southwest Idaho schools: 1. What will deep cleaning accomplish? The closures took effect Thursday. The Emmett district did not immediately respond Friday to a phone call and email asking about the deep cleaning. Most of the illnesses cited in Wednesday’s Facebook post, including COVID-19, pertussis, influenza and RSV, are respiratory illnesses, and scientists have increasingly said that there is little to no evidence that such illnesses can spread via contaminated surfaces, according to reporting from The New York Times. Instead, health officials have emphasized improving ventilation and filtration of indoor air. But norovirus, sometimes called the winter vomiting disease, is highly transmissible and spreads primarily by touching contaminated surfaces or through direct contact with an infected person, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says. Dr. David Pate, the former CEO of St. Luke’s Health System, said deep cleaning the school district’s classrooms should help curb the spread of norovirus, and having some additional time apart for students and staff should further limit the spread of that disease and the respiratory illnesses. He said children typically get over norovirus in a couple of days. “Just getting the kids away from each other can certainly bring those levels down,” Pate told the Idaho Statesman by phone on Friday. “It will temporarily break those chains of transmission.” 2. Are students getting sick in other school districts? Emmett is about 30 miles north of Boise in neighboring Gem County. The notice from the Emmett district said other schools in the region served by Southwest District Health have seen high rates of those illnesses, too. It also said the latest hospital data shows a spike in strep throat cases in children. Tracey Garner, supervisor of health services at the West Ada School District, which serves Meridian, Eagle, Star, Garden City and parts of Boise and Kuna, said Idaho’s largest school district also saw a jump in pertussis cases in December. After winter break, those cases began to flatten out, she said Friday by phone. She said attendance levels are now fairly normal. The Boise School District late last year warned parents and staff of a “widespread” pertussis outbreak in the community and across Idaho. The board of the health district, which encompasses the Gem, Canyon, Adams, Owyhee, Payette and Washington counties, voted in October to no longer offer the COVID-19 vaccine to residents who want to pay for it. Dr. Christine Hahn, an epidemiologist at the Idaho Department of Health and ********, told the Idaho Statesman in December that the state’s vaccination rates are not where they should be. Idaho has the lowest immunization rates for children in the U.S., according to the CDC. In the 2022-23 school year, the state’s vaccination rate for pertussis was the worst in the nation at 81%, the Idaho Statesman previously reported. 3. What’s next? The Emmett district moved to a four-day week last year, so schools were already scheduled to be closed Friday. The district plans to open back up on Monday. The notice said scheduled athletic events at the high school will continue as planned. Boise schools warn of ‘widespread’ whooping cough. 13. The state poll that could shape the race for The Lodge The state poll that could shape the race for The Lodge Western Australia’s Labor government is on track to retain power at the state election, dashing hopes of a comeback by the conservative opposition. Analysts say the Liberal and National parties could regain previously held blue-ribbon seats at the March 8 poll but are unlikely to secure enough to oust Labor premier Roger Cook. Labor holds 53 seats in the lower house with the Liberals and Nationals holding three each. To win government the conservative parties would need to pull off an extraordinary turnaround, political analyst John Phillimore said. “Labor won by so much last time, almost everybody’s expectation is they will win,” said Professor Phillimore, the executive director of Curtin University’s John Curtin Institute of Public Policy. “There haven’t been any major scandals and they haven’t caused too much upset to too many people.” Prof Phillimore said Labor would undoubtedly lose some seats to the Liberal-National alliance but it would still have a “comfortable” victory. “It’s really whether or not they come back to where they were in 2017, which was at the time a massive victory, or will they go back to a much more closely-fought election,” he told AAP. Labor’s 2017 victory was the party’s biggest in the state’s history at that time, claiming 41 seats to the conservatives’ 18. That result was surpassed in 2021 when then-premier Mark McGowan led Labor to an unprecedented landslide victory, primarily due to the party’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and its closed border policy. “To win the election, the (Liberal and Nationals have) to between them effectively win 25 seats,” Prof Phillimore said. “That just seems far too many steps for them to take.” Political commentator Peter Kennedy said the Libby Mettam-led WA Liberals must regain the blue ribbon seats of Nedlands, Churchlands, Bateman and South Perth, which were lost in 2021. “The Liberals would be in deep trouble if they couldn’t make significant inroads, particularly by winning back those formerly safe seats,” the Notre Dame University adjunct professor said. He said Labor could lose 14 seats, “perhaps even a bit more”. “A lot of those former Liberals who voted for Labor because it was led by Mark McGowan last time around, they’ll go back to the fold and that will help the Liberals in their recovery,” Mr Kennedy said. “(But the) Liberals still have to do a lot more work to regain that lost ground.” During early campaigning, the conservatives have targeted the Cook government’s handling of WA’s booming economy and large infrastructure projects, along with crime rates, power outages and health services. But inflation and housing supply are the top issues on WA voters’ minds, Mr Kennedy said. “The cost of living is the number one issue, then there’s the issue of housing (prices which) have gone through the roof, plus rental prices have gone through the roof as well,” he said. Mr Cook and his ministers have been travelling around the state for several months making dozens of election promises off the back of another massive surplus. The measures include cost of living relief and providing more services and infrastructure to further develop Labor’s vision for the state. The ballot result will be closely watched in Canberra ahead of a federal election which must be held by May 17. The 2022 federal election saw a huge swing away from the Liberal Party in WA, with Labor picking up four seats. Both major parties will be hoping they poll strongly at a state level as WA could be the key to winning the federal election. “The one thing that (federal) Labor’s got going for it, it does seem that most of the polling has shown that in WA at least, its vote is holding up better than it is in other states,” Prof Phillimore said. “Maybe all these visits by (Prime Minister) Anthony Albanese, which he talks about endlessly, is having an effect, but it won’t take much for him to lose two seats.” The Cook government enters the caretaker ******* on Wednesday when official campaigning will start. Second body found in search for missing sisters Second body found in search for missing sisters The body of a second woman has been found near where two missing sisters were last seen in Aberdeen. Henrietta and Eliza Huszti – both 32 and from a set of triplets – were last seen near the River Dee on 7 January. Officers found the second body in an area of the river near to the Victoria Bridge at about 21:05 on Friday. The first body had been found near Queen Elizabeth Bridge at about 07:55. Police Scotland said the Huszti family had been informed. Inquiries are ongoing but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances. Supt David Howieson said: “Our thoughts remain with the Huszti family and we are keeping them fully updated following these recoveries. “We know how much of an impact this has had in Aberdeen and much further afield and I would like to thank everyone who has assisted with our investigation.” The disappearance of the two sisters – originally from Hungary – sparked a major search operation. The second body was found in the river near Victoria Bridge [BBC] Both women were last seen on Market Street at the Victoria Bridge over the River Dee at about 02:12 on 7 January. Earlier this week, Police Scotland said searches of the river and the harbour area had ended. But the force said inquiries would be ongoing and coastal areas north and south of the city would continue to be searched. Detectives previously revealed the sisters visited the Victoria Bridge the day before they disappeared. They also texted their landlady from the bridge area in the early hours of 7 January to say they would not return to their flat. The Victoria Bridge and Queen Elizabeth Bridge are about half a mile apart on the River Dee. Floral tributes have been laid at the side of the river [BBC] Officers have been treating the search as a missing persons inquiry and not a criminal investigation. The sisters, who moved to Scotland 10 years ago, had not told relatives they planned to imminently move out of their rented Aberdeen flat. A police tent was set up at Aberdeen Boat Club near the spot where the first body was seen on Friday [BBC] They had been saving up to buy a property but their brother Jozsef told BBC News earlier this month it was “strange” the family did not know they had decided to end their tenancy. He said: “They wrote a message to their landlady that they wanted to immediately end their tenancy agreement. We didn’t have any information about that. “So that’s the strange thing, that the girls didn’t tell us anything about that. “They never mentioned any such plan.” The disappearance of the sisters has had a significant impact on people in Aberdeen and beyond [BBC] Source link #body #search #missing #sisters Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

The Old Mill at the northern end of Mill Point Road is one of the oldest buildings in Perth. Built in 1835, the mill produced 680kg of flour per day at its peak. Since ceasing production in 1859, the mill has been a hotel, a residence, a wine bar and a poultry farm. The nearby South Perth Esplanade and Sir James Mitchell Park face the Perth skyline and are often filled with families enjoying picnics. Sir James Mitchell Park is also home to some of Perth’s best food trucks every Thursday to Sunday during summer. Walkers, joggers and cyclists pass through the park on the way to completing the bridge-to-bridge circuit, a 10km loop which takes them across the Causeway Bridge at Heirisson Island, along Riverside Drive past Elizabeth Quay to the Narrows Bridge, before returning to the South Perth foreshore. Ferries operate between the Mends Street Jetty and Elizabeth Quay. There are four grocery stores in South Perth along Mill Point Road and Angelo Street. The Swan River remains the suburb’s biggest drawcard. Dutch explorer Willem De Vlamingh sailed up the waterway in January 1697 and, noting the presence of ****** swans, gave it its name. It’s thought he and his crew were the first Europeans to see this stretch of water. The Swan River Colony was established 132 years later in 1929 and by 1831, the land along the river had been divided between seven people, who established agriculture and dairy businesses. In 1833, a mill was built and a ferry service began operating across the river. By 1850 there was further development, with more ferry connections and the gradual construction of the Causeway and Canning bridges. By the end of the 1890s, South Perth had a population of 400. These days, the housing stock is diverse, from apartments and townhouses, to family homes and grand riverside abodes. According to the *********** Bureau of Statistics, 36.5 per cent of dwellings in South Perth are townhouses and 34 per cent are detached houses. Nearby high schools include the highly reputable Wesley College and Penrhos College. Como Secondary College is another popular option for parents seeking a co-ed option for their children. Primary schools include South Perth and St Columba’s. Real Estate Institute of WA figures show that houses in South Perth last an average 19 days on the market before being sold, and units 15 days. 17. Yellowstone bison stampede toward snow coach in thrilling encounter Yellowstone bison stampede toward snow coach in thrilling encounter A spectacular highlight for snow-coach passengers in Yellowstone National Park is to share the road with giant bison. The accompanying footage, credited to David Wall via Viral Hog, shows more than a dozen bison stampeding toward a snow coach and providing an adrenaline rush for wide-eyed passengers. “They’re not going to hit our vehicle, are they?” one tourist asks in the footage. The bison spread around the snow coach to pass, although one slightly bumps the vehicle while navigating its passage. Yellowstone has about 5,000 bison and they utilize roads for easier commutes during the winter, so encounters are not rare. However, encounters with stampeding bison are far less common. The footage is reminiscent of footage captured in February 2019, showing a very large bison sprinting at full speed past a snow coach in a “Holy Jesus” moment. (Click here to view that clip.) Adult bison, which weigh between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds, can run 30 mph so watching them charge toward you with full heads of steam can be as intimidating as it is impressive. 20. Ford Mach-E Owners Drive More Than The Average American And Still Don’t Come Close To Using All Of Their Range Ford Mach-E Owners Drive More Than The Average American And Still Don’t Come Close To Using All Of Their Range Photo: Ford Motor Company It’s been four years since Ford started selling the Mustang Mach-E. In an owners’ forum anniversary message, the Blue Oval offered a small peek into the data gathered from the electric crossovers on the road. The manufacturer stated that the average Mach-E owner drives 66 miles on a typical weekday. Shockingly, that figure is far beyond the average American’s daily mileage, which per FHWA data is 37 miles per day regardless of powertrain, but it still comes nowhere near the Mach-E’s total range. Range is an often-cited concern for drivers considering buying their first electric vehicle. However, Ford’s statistics show that it’s a non-issue for most owners. The standard rear-wheel-drive Mustang Mach-E has an EPA-certified range of 250 miles. A 66-mile drive uses just over a quarter of the battery’s capacity. With the extended-range RWD Mach-E, the longest-range version of the Mach-E that will do 320 miles per charge, a driver is only ten miles short of completing a five-day workweek without needing to recharge. Ford also found that 70 percent of Mustang Mach-E owners recharge at home. It makes sense if there’s no reason to recharge during the day. With 163,709 Mustang Mach-E crossovers sold through 2024, Ford’s sample size could be considered representative of the country’s population. There is one crucial caveat, though. Over 80 percent of EV households also own a gas-powered car. Theoretically, the EV could be the daily driver with the ICE-equipped vehicle used for long-distance trips. Ford hoped the Mustang Mach E would be a transformative vehicle for the automaker, but it only courted controversy for giving the crossover SUV the same branding as its iconic pony car. Last year, Ford CEO Jim Farley even stated that there will never be an all-electric Mustang, forgetting the Mach-E. The electric crossover finally showed its true potential last year when sales nearly tripled after Ford cut prices by up to $8,100. For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. 21. Pakistan clashes kill 18 soldiers, 24 militants: army Pakistan clashes kill 18 soldiers, 24 militants: army Eighteen paramilitary soldiers and 24 militants have been killed in fighting in southwestern Pakistan, the military’s media wing says. The militants had tried to set up roadblocks overnight in the restive province of Balochistan and most of the deaths had taken place as security forces removed them, the military said. Eleven of the militants were killed in what the military described as “clearance operations” on Saturday. It was not immediately clear which group the militants belonged to. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a statement condemned the attack. The mineral-rich province, which borders Iran and Afghanistan, has been the scene of a decade-old insurgency by separatist ethnic Baloch groups and Islamist militants also operate there. On Tuesday, in a separate incident, Islamist militants in an explosive-laden vehicle were thwarted in their attempt to overrun a Pakistani security post near the border with Afghanistan. In August, at least 73 people were killed in Balochistan when separatist militants attacked police stations, railway lines and highways and security forces launched retaliatory operations. This means the info may not always match what’s in the article. Reporting mistakes helps us improve the experience.Generate Key Takeaways The Pentagon will begin a new annual rotation program for media that requires several outlets, including NBC News, the New York Times and National Public Radio, to vacate their physical offices to allow for others – like Breitbart News, the New York Post and One America News Network – to get their turn. The Friday announcement from the Department of Defense, now led by former Fox News host Pete Hegseth, will also remove Politico from its established in-house workspace. The outgoing news orgs learned about the directive in a wide memo without individual notification or additional explanation, and takes effect in two weeks. The move comes a week after Hegseth was confirmed in the Senate by a narrow margin. “For over a half-century, the Pentagon Press Corps has benefited from working out of individual office spaces that provide coveted and open access to some of the Department’s top military and civilian leaders,” reads the memo, from Pentagon spokesperson John Ullyot. NBC News said it was disappointed by the decision “to deny us access to a broadcasting booth at the Pentagon that we’ve used for many decades. Despite the significant obstacles this presents to our ability to gather and report news in the national public interest, we will continue to report with the same integrity and rigor NBC News always has.” The new outlets rotating in are One America News Network, the New York Post, Breitbart News Network and HuffPost as new organizations that will rotate in and out from the space. 24. Majority of Millennials and Gen Z Take Surprising Abortion Stand, New Poll Reveals Majority of Millennials and Gen Z Take Surprising Abortion Stand, New Poll Reveals As tens of thousands of Americans prepare to coalesce in Washington, D.C., for the March For Life on Friday, a new survey finds the majority of Millennial and Gen Z voters support abortion restrictions. Listen to the latest episode of “Quick Start” In fact, 67% of registered voters between the ages of 18-42 said in the survey commissioned by Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement (a project of Students for Life of America) and YouGov that they support some abortion limits, up from 65% in 2024. Remarkably, the survey also found just 9% favoring “abortion without limits.” This response to the no-limits approach indicates a rejection of permissive policies that allow abortion throughout the entirety of a pregnancy or death during a “botched abortion.” And that’s not all. The data also found some noteworthy beliefs among Millennials and Gen Z — a cohort that now makes up 48.5% of the American electorate — when it comes to human rights for the unborn. “[Six] in 10 said human rights begin while a child is still in the womb,” a press release reads. “Only 2% said rights begin when a court says so. Only 25% said human rights begin after birth.” Students for Life of America founder Kristan Hawkins said these survey results are noteworthy, particularly after a polemic presidential election that intensely focused on abortion. “After a contentious election in which the Democratic Party offered basically one assurance, that the number of abortions would increase and that taxpayers would fund it, young voters pulled back,” she said. “Our poll details common ground, serious concerns, and bad news for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s No. 1 abortion vendor.” Hawkins continued, “And the best news for political leaders, voter support is on the table for those who protect women and the pre-born, as well as taxpayer interests.” This data is particularly intriguing in light of its focus on younger Americans who are either entering adulthood or are approaching middle age. As this group becomes a larger share of the voting population, its views matter. The survey also lines up with past research on the matter. An annual Knights of Columbus and Marist poll found last year the majority of Americans more broadly continue to support abortion limits. The 2024 survey found “66% of Americans support placing legal limits on abortion, and that nearly 6 in 10 support limiting abortions to the first three months of pregnancy.” Read more about that here.
