  2. Super Bowl LIX: Ben Graham reveals key for Philadelphia Eagles to stop Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes Super Bowl LIX: Ben Graham reveals key for Philadelphia Eagles to stop Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes The Philadelphia Eagles have a pretty simple job on Monday – stop Patrick Mahomes. Though this is a little easier said than done as the superstar quarterback looks to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a three-peat of titles and their fourth Super Bowl title in six years. The Eagles have been here before, losing 38-35 in the 2023 decider after the Chiefs rallied from a 10-point deficit to clinch the title with a last second field goal. Jordan Mailata was part of the Eagles team that suffered that heartbreak but he is back to avenge the loss and become the first *********** to win a Super Bowl. One man who knows exactly what it is like to play in the biggest match in US sport and endure a Super Bowl loss by a single score is Ben Graham. The former punter, who played in Arizona’s losing 2009 side to Pittsburgh, said Philadelphia had done their homework and were armed by a new strike weapon. “They’ve learned a lot since then (2023) and they’ve tweaked their roster. Their defence is now is the best in the NFL and they’ve added the best running back in the NFL in Saquon Barclay. He sits behind one of the best offensive lines in football, and that’s headed up by Jordan Mailata,” the Channel 7 NFL expert told The Nightly. “The key to the Eagles winning this game is their run game. When it comes to stopping the Chiefs, their way to victory is stopping Patrick Mahomes. “They can stop the run, but it is Mahomes that they need to stop. So they need to disrupt him. They need to get their hands on him. They need to sack him. They’ve got to be careful of him using his legs, because he has been dangerous in key moments, particularly in playoffs, running the football. “But Mahomes is the key to this game. This is a champion team versus a team of champions, but I like the chances on the underdog.” The host of the Armchair Experts, which will be part of Seven’s coverage from 9am AEDT on Monday, said Mailata succeeding would be monumental for the sport in Australia, especially after a regular season at the MCG in 2026 was announced on Thursday. “This would be huge. The chance to grow the game with an *********** winning a Super Bowl would be a momentous occasion,” Graham said. Graham said there was nothing like being part of the Super Bowl for an athlete. “It was still like a dream that year, in 2008 I played for three NFL teams. It was a crazy year, so to end up playing in a Super Bowl, the first *********** to play, I soaked up every moment from the two weeks leading into the Super Bowl,” he said. “Understanding the magnitude of the media taught me a lesson about how big the actual game was, even on a global scale back then,” he said. “And you know that these opportunities don’t come around every year, maybe for the Kansas City Chiefs in the last few years it has, but it’s such a true statement when it’s not about the result. “It was about the journey that me and my family went on in that year and in the four years leading up to playing in that Super Bowl.” Graham will be joined by Seven’s Cam Luke in the media booth at the Superdome in New Orleans. “New Orleans is a historic city, the culture, the food, the jazz. It is one hell of a week with the parties, and we’re all here for a game,” he said. “So we’ll bring you all the sounds, the special guests and the announcements.” Camera IconTom Brady will be part of Seven’s Super Bowl coverage Credit: MEDIA-MODE/MEDIA-MODE Part of the USA coverage team for Seven will include legendary NFL star, seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. “You’re not going to get anybody better with their insight into the game,” Graham said. “Tom is in his first year as a broadcaster and he is going to bring a new dimension for viewers.” With an estimated 6.6 million fans in Australia, the NFL decider attracted record viewership last year on the Seven Network’s various platforms, reaching 2.7 million people, up 43 per cent from the previous year. 3. Qualcomm Says Arm Has Withdrawn License Breach Notice Qualcomm Says Arm Has Withdrawn License Breach Notice Qualcomm Chief Executive Officer Cristiano Amon said on Wednesday that Arm Holdings has withdrawn a threat to terminate Qualcomm’s license agreement with the chip technology provider. Arm in October threatened to terminate Qualcomm’s license agreement amid a dispute over technology that powers Qualcomm’s personal computer chips. Qualcomm said that threat has been withdrawn. “Arm recently notified us that it was withdrawing its October 22, 2024 notice of breach, and indicated that it has no current plan to terminate the Qualcomm architecture license agreement,” Amon told analysts on conference call on Wednesday, discussing the company’s first-quarter results. In December, Qualcomm won key aspects of a trial in the underlying dispute, with a jury finding that Qualcomm’s personal computer chips are properly licensed under its license agreement with Arm. The jury, however, could not reach a unanimous verdict on other questions presented at the trial, and Arm has filed a motion for a new trial. © Thomson Reuters 2025 (This story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is auto-generated from a syndicated feed.) 5. PUBG’s Tactical Shooter is Now Called ‘PUBG: Blindspot’ PUBG’s Tactical Shooter is Now Called ‘PUBG: Blindspot’ KRAFTON has updated the branding for the PUBG spin-off formerly known as Project ARC. It’s now called PUBG: Blindspot, and between February 21 and March 3, a demo for the top-down tactical shooter will be available exclusively on Steam. If you’re coming over fresh from the battle royale experience that has existed for years, you’ll likely see PUBG: Blindspot as something entirely unfamiliar, but as a standalone title, it looks pretty good. There’s a nice hit of esports potential in Blindspot, which isn’t a fresh concept given how popular PUBG is as a competitive shooter. ‘A Fresh and Engaging Experience’ In a recent press release, KRAFTON explained why the name ‘PUBG: Blindspot’ was chosen: PUBG Studios chose the name PUBG: Blindspot to reflect both the development philosophy and core gameplay elements. The PUBG brand in the title represents PUBG Studios’ commitment to expanding into new genres, while Blindspot signifies the game’s innovative blend of top-down shooting and vision-based tactical play, offering players a fresh and engaging experience. The game’s most promising mechanics suggest that this will be a much faster-paced and intense shooter compared to the relatively slow-burning environment of a battle royale. It’s a vision-based shooter, which means although it’s ‘top-down’ by perspective, you can only see enemies if they’d realistically appear in your character’s field of view. Hence the name, Blindspot. Like Rainbow Six Siege, Blindspot is a 5v5 shooter that allows players to utilise a range of gadgets and weapons to accomplish their goals. As a match unravels, players will find that they’re given just one life, and each round follows the traditional ‘attack vs. defend’ operating model. Three months ago, KRAFTON published a first-look trailer of Blindspot, then called Project ARC: Do you think PUBG: Blindspot will do well as a fundamental tactical shooter, or do we already have too many of them in the industry? 8. 18,000 Costco workers threaten to strike and ‘won’t work a day past Jan. 31’ if their contract demands aren’t met 18,000 Costco workers threaten to strike and ‘won’t work a day past Jan. 31’ if their contract demands aren’t met A Teamsters union of 18,000 Costco workers has voted to authorize a strike within the next two weeks if their contract demands are not met. The union claims in a statement that the wholesaler and membership store has failed to present a fair contract offer, despite “record-breaking profits.” “Our members have spoken loud and clear—Costco must deliver a fair contract, or they’ll be held accountable,” Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien said in the statement. “From Day One, we’ve told Costco that our members won’t work a day past January 31 without a historic, industry-leading agreement.” Prior to the vote, which 85% of members supported, workers organized practice pickets across the country, including actions last week in Hayward, California; Sumner, Washington; and Long Island, New York. While Costco is known for paying its employees higher wages than its competitors, the union is accusing the company of not sharing its recent success with workers. “Costco claims to treat workers better than the competition, but right now, it’s failing to live up to that reputation,” Tom Erickson, director of the Teamsters Warehouse Division, said. Business as usual: In an earnings call last month, Costco President and CEO Ron Vachris told shareholders that the company is focused on a “fair and timely process for getting to an agreement with the Teamsters,” and emphasized that “we have a 40-year track record of dealing fairly with the Teamsters union, and really nothing has changed about that.” The Teamsters have lately shown themselves willing to take on some of the biggest retailers. At the peak of the holiday season in December, the union authorized a strike of Amazon that lasted until December 24. Workers formed picket lines at hundreds of fulfillment centers, but went on strike at just nine locations. While Amazon doesn’t usually acknowledge the union, the Teamsters claim to represent nearly 10,000 workers at the e-commerce giant. This report was originally published by Retail Brew. 12. After multiple delays, Football Manager 25 has now been cancelled After multiple delays, Football Manager 25 has now been cancelled Football Manager 25 has been cancelled, Sports Interactive has announced. In a statement posted on the official Football Manager account on X, the developer stated that “following extensive external discussion and careful consideration with *****“, the focus will now shift to the next game in the series. “For the large numbers of you who pre-ordered FM25, we thank you enormously for your trust and support – we’re very sorry to have let you down,” the statement reads. “We know this will come as a huge disappointment, especially given that the release date has already moved twice, and you have been eagerly anticipating the first gameplay reveal. We can only apologise for the time it has taken to communicate this decision. Due to stakeholder compliance, including legal and financial regulations, today was the earliest date that we could issue this statement. “We have always prided ourselves on delivering the best value for money games that bring you countless hours of enjoyment, that feel worth every moment and every penny you spend. With the launch of FM25 we set out to create the biggest technical and visual advancement in the series for a generation, laying the building blocks for a new era. “Due to a variety of challenges that we’ve been open about to date, and many more unforeseen, we currently haven’t achieved what we set out to do in enough areas of the game, despite the phenomenal efforts of our team. “Each decision to delay the release was made with the aim of getting the game closer to the desired level but, as we approached critical milestones at the turn of the year, it became unmistakably clear that we would not achieve the standard required, even with the adjusted timeline. “Whilst many areas of the game have hit our targets, the overarching player experience and interface is not where we need it to be. As extensive evaluation has demonstrated, including consumer playtesting, we have clear validation for the new direction of the game and are getting close – however, we’re too far away from the standards you deserve.” Sports Interactive regret to inform that, following extensive internal discussion and careful consideration with *****, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Football Manager 25. pic.twitter.com/tLRbq8305K — Football Manager (@FootballManager) February 7, 2025 The studio adds that while it could have released Football Manager 25 in an unfinished state and continue to build on it with patches, “that’s not the right thing to do”, and that a furether delay beyond March would have been too late into the current football season. Football Manager was originally supposed to be released in early November, before getting its first delay and a November 26 release date. This was then delayed again to March 2025, with Sports Interactive saying its first delay had “not been sufficient to ensure the game quality and experience meets your expectations and our very high standards”. The game was set to be one of the most notable updates in the series’ history, mainly down to the inclusion of women’s football for the first time and Sports Interactive’s decision to implement an entirely new graphics system using the Unity engine, a move it previously said would mark “the starting point for the studio’s next 20 years”. This transition is now taking longer than expected, hence the initial delays and now the decision to cancel the game outright and shift development to the next one. 14. Kaitlyn Conley released from prison as Oneida DA mulls plans after conviction overturned Kaitlyn Conley released from prison as Oneida DA mulls plans after conviction overturned After having her manslaughter conviction overturned, Kaitlyn Conley has been released from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. Conley was sentenced to serve 23 years in prison in 2017 after being found guilty of first-degree manslaughter for the poisoning of Mary Yoder, her boss. The State Appellate Division in Rochester heard her appeal and overturned her conviction, citing the handling of evidence by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and a lack of effective counsel. And while her manslaughter conviction was overturned Friday, the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office has yet to announce whether or not it is moving forward with a new case. Kaitlyn Conley in Oneida County Court for her sentencing on Jan. 11, 2018. Oneida County District Attorney Todd Carville said the manslaughter conviction was dismissed without prejudice and gives his office the chance to represent any charge to a future grand jury. At the hearing for Conley’s release, the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office argued to hold Conley for 45 days. “There’s a part of the law that allows for someone to be held in these circumstances while we potentially resubmit the case to a grand jury, but Judge Bernadette Clark didn’t see it that way,” Carville said. When asked what his office’s next step is, Carville said it will be meeting to reevaluate all of the evidence in light of the Appellate Division’s decision and decide whether or not there was enough viable evidence. “The Appellate Division opined that certain evidence should be suppressed,” Carville said. “So any fruit of that evidence is suppressed. So we need to determine what that evidence is and what the case looks like without that evidence, and then make a determination if there’s enough to go forward with the grand jury.” When asked, Carville said there was no timetable for when this would happen, but that it wouldn’t be in the immediate future, if at all. “We need to reexamine the evidence first,” he said. 18. 64 people rescued from ski lift at popular mountain in New Hampshire 64 people rescued from ski lift at popular mountain in New Hampshire Dozens of people were evacuated from a ski lift at a popular mountain in New Hampshire following a mechanical issue on Wednesday, officials said. Ski patrol and operations personnel at Cannon Mountain in Franconia launched a rope evacuation just before 10:15 a.m. after a bolt affixed to a power takeoff shaft failed on the Peabody Express Quad lift, according to Cannon Mountain. Cannon officials confirmed that 64 passengers on the lift were safely evacuated shortly before 12:30 p.m. The Peabody Express Quad was closed for the day and mountain operations were reduced with service continuing at Mittersill Double, Tuckerbrook, Eagle Cliff, and Zoomer lifts. Rich Finnegan and Philip Defeo on their drive back home to southern New Hampshire recounted the scary day. The two told Boston 25 they realized something was seriously wrong after 7 minutes halted in the air. Finnegan explained, “I was like, ‘I don’t think this is a routine like someone slipped and fell. I think there’s something mechanical wrong.’” Finnegan claimed they were about 25 feet above the ground. He added, “It was definitely way too high to jump.” The two remembered patrols racing to each chair to let them know help was on the way. Finnegan said, “They were hustling.” Finnegan and Defeo were thrown a rope by crews and were told to strap themselves in before repelling down with the help of ski patrol. “You put it around your chest, tighten it, and you put the seat under your butt,” Finnegan explained. “When they give you the word you pop off the chairlift.” All 64 passengers were safely rescued from the lifts in single-digit temperatures. Finnegan finished, “Jumping off a chairlift goes against every instinct you have … We were brave.” “While all chairlifts and equipment at Cannon undergo regular inspection and testing, mechanical issues can occasionally occur,” Cannon said in a statement. All guests at the mountain at the time of the incident were offered the option of a refund or a credit for a future visit, as well as complimentary hospitality at the base area. This incident comes after a chair detached over the weekend at Attitash Mountain Resort in Bartlett, sending a man plummeting 20 feet to the ground below. 20. Community divided over fate of tower Community divided over fate of tower PA Media The tower will be dismantled, the government has decided “I don’t accept it has to come down, because there are a lot of outstanding matters – justice the families need to see.” Nibil Choucair, who lost six family members among the 72 killed in the Grenfell Tower block fire in June 2017, made the comment after Housing Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner told a meeting that the government planned on dismantling the tower. The announcement received a mixed reaction from those who survived or lost loved ones, and those who live in its shadow. Some agree with Mr Choucair, others say it should remain as a reminder of what happened while others say it is a safety risk for it to remain as it is. Nibil Choucair wants to see the tower standing until people are held responsible Speaking to BBC News, Mr Choucair said: “A lot of families are upset that it has to come down but we’re hoping it can stay up a lot longer because there are a lot of people who haven’t been prosecuted.” He said the decision had been rushed, adding: “It’s a very sensitive, delicate matter so it needs to be thought out well.” The sentiment was echoed by Damel Carayol who was at Wednesday’s meeting with Rayner. He said he was taken by surprise by the announcement. “I don’t think anything should be done to the building before justice is served and those who are responsible go to court and are tried,” he said. “It would be extremely painful if anything happened to the tower before the criminal investigation was concluded.” Mr Carayol, who is with the Humanity For Grenfell group and lost a niece and cousin in the fire, said some families see the tower as a “burial ground”. Bernadette Bernard, one of the many bereaved relatives, said: “The tower for me is actually where my brother was cremated, so it’s his resting place, it’s his grave. “It’s more than just a building and Angela Rayner’s decision, for me, is a desecration of my brother’s grave.” Mushtaq Lasharie said he would like to see a memorial erected in the tower’s place Mr Lasharie, chairman of the Lancaster West Residents Association (LWRA), told BBC News he was “very pleased” with the deputy prime minister’s decision. He said safety concerns meant “there is no other option” and that the majority of residents were in favour of the tower’s removal, although a “small *********” wanted it to remain as a “symbol to remind people” of what happened. Another member of the LWRA, Abbas Dadou, said the building was “haunting us every day”. Mr Dadou, who lives about 50 metres (165ft) away from site, said: “It is easy for other people who do not live in the area to say it should be there forever. Structurally, it is not safe and it needs to go at some point.” Emma Dent Coad, who was Labour MP for Kensington at the time of the fire, said the decision made her feel “relieved”. “I see it everyday, and it hurts me every single day,” she said. “It triggers me some times, and sometimes when I look at it, I don’t see the shroud, I see what happened on that day.” In 2020, a report recommended the tower be propped up in various places because the concrete that reinforces it had been damaged by the weather. The heating and drying of summers and winters had created some instability, it added. Report engineers recommended for the tower to be brought down – and in 2019 the government was told the tower should be taken down above the 10th floor. ‘Not safe’ Grieving relatives fear their voices are being ignored, according to Grenfell United, which represents bereaved people and survivors. Local resident David O’Connell said there had been so many failures surrounding the June 2017 fire that people were wary their concerns might be “swept under the carpet”. Mr O’Connell, who can see the tower from his home on the nearby Lancaster West Estate, said: “I personally would like to see a monument that is 200ft (60m) tall, just like the tower, and it should be permanent. “There should be something there that cannot be removed to remind people what happens when systems fail, and that 72 people lost their lives.” He added: “I know a lot of people wanted the tower to stay but fundamentally it is not safe, it would deteriorate and something had to be done – but people do not want things to be swept under the carpet and dismissed. “The people who should have the most say about this are the people who live here but, above all, it should be the bereaved because it is their relatives who died.” A formal announcement on the details of the plan is expected to be announced by the government later on Friday. 21. It’s about to get a lot easier to find a kerbside EV charger in Australia It’s about to get a lot easier to find a kerbside EV charger in Australia Kerbside electric vehicle (EV) charging is being amped up in three *********** states, with new funding announced for the installation of 250 metropolitan and regional chargers. The *********** Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has committed $2.4 million in funding to EVX Australia for the chargers to be installed in more than 60 local government areas across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. These are ***********-designed and manufactured EV chargers developed by EVX, which are pole-mounted and intended to be a sustainable way to roll out EV infrastructure “while adhering to local electrical and planning regulations”. ARENA says that by using AC power with “smart charging capability”, EVX chargers have a “low impact” on local electricity grids and are installed on existing utility pole infrastructure, which means there’s no need for disruptive works. 100s of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now. Camera IconSupplied Credit: CarExpert Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen says having chargers in more convenient locations would encourage more people to make the switch to EVs. “These chargers are a key step to unlocking cleaner, cheaper-to-run EVs for Australians who aren’t able to charge them at home,” he said. “When we came to government, one in 50 cars was an EV. That’s now one in ten. And we’ve tripled the number of fast-chargers around Australia. But we need a mix of solutions, not just fast-chargers, but more convenient kerbside options around our cities and towns. “Projects like this, supported by ARENA funding, are helping develop the answers we need to scale.” Camera IconSupplied Credit: CarExpert Regions that will benefit from the new chargers in NSW include Orange, Wagga Wagga, Bellingen, Forbes, Queanbeyan, Wingecarribee, Goulburn and Eurobodalla. *********** group Flow Power will be the energy retailer for all 250 sites, with EVX leading the coordination of real-time reporting and working with Ausgrid and Essential Energy to develop “flexible tariff structures”. 22. Doctor investigated after smuggling his **** cat into hospital for CAT scan Doctor investigated after smuggling his **** cat into hospital for CAT scan An Italian doctor is being investigated after he smuggled his injured cat into a hospital to give her a CAT scan and surgery. Gianluca Fanelli’s two-year-old ****, Athena, broke multiple bones and damaged internal organs after she misjudged a jump and fell six storeys from a roof, Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera reported. Mr Fanelli decided to take her to the Umberto Parini Hospital, where he works in northern Italy, and load her into a CAT scanner to find her “between life and death”. Taking her to a free operating table, he drained the liquid from her lungs – allowing her to breathe and saving her life. “If I hadn’t done all I could and my cat had died I would never have forgiven myself, particularly since my children adore her,” he said. “As a radiologist I knew I could only save her by acting fast.” The two-year-old cat, Athena, was rushed to Umberto Parini Hospital in northern Italy (Google Maps) Athena survived and is now in recovery, but hospital boss Massimo Uberti has since launched an inquiry and referred the matter to the police. He highlighted hygiene concerns, the ban on bringing pets into the hospital and the misuse of public funds. “This matter is so incredible I thought it was a joke at first,” he said. “Unfortunately it is not and so we are investigating all possible rule violations.” Mr Fanelli said he used the hospital equipment after hours when all the X-rays scheduled for the day had been completed, and no other patients were booked in for urgent tests. Corriere della Sera reported he wrote in a letter to the hospital: “I am sorry if all this has led to a violation of the rules and… should my conduct have caused economic damage of any kind to the company, to personally take charge of its full reimbursement. “Being a doctor means carrying out a mission, that of dedicating oneself completely to the service of life… The driving force that pushes you to do this is precisely the life that flows in the eyes of those who entrust themselves to your care.” The incident made front-page news in Italy and sparked a national debate over whether Mr Fanelli’s decision was valid amid long hospital waiting lists. Mr Fanelli’s wife Nicoletta Spelgatti, who is a senator and former regional governor, defended him and said: “In life, you do the right thing and you don’t worry about the consequences. The laws of man and those of the universe do not always go in the same direction. “My husband saved a life. *******.” Source link #Doctor #investigated #smuggling #**** #cat #hospital #CAT #scan Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
