The investor – who is one of the “Tiger Cub” fund managers that worked under the late Julian Robertson, founder of Tiger Management – reduced his firm’s stakes in Alibaba and PDD Holdings by about 93% in the fourth quarter last year, as well as his stake in JD.com by more than 92%, according to the latest 13F filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. That brings the worth of his holdings in Alibaba and PDD to more than $16 million and about $18 million, respectively, while his holding in JD.com is worth more than $21 million. Additionally, Laffont decreased his investment in KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF (KWEB) by almost 96%, bringing that holding’s value to almost $9 million. He also dissolved his stake in iShares China Large-Cap ETF (FXI) . He created new positions in both funds in the third quarter. His moves away from ******** stocks stand in contrast to others like Appaloosa Management’s David Tepper, who increased his “everything” bet on the country last quarter. The moves also come amid increasing concerns around the possible effects of tariffs from President Donald Trump. Earlier this month, Trump officially slapped an additional 10% tariff on imports from China, alongside proposed 25% tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico. Trump had vowed to take these steps following his election victory. Meanwhile, Laffont began new positions last quarter in other technology names such as Reddit – which is his fund’s ninth biggest holding – and Affirm . Over the past six months, each stock has drastically outperformed the broader market. Shares of Reddit have gained nearly 265% in the timespan, while shares of Affirm have soared more than 202%. The technology-focused investor also increased his bets on artificial intelligence-related name Super Micro Computer , which is worth more than $270 million, and streaming giant Netflix , worth about $620 million. Amazon came out as his top holding in the quarter, while Facebook parent Meta Platforms and AI chip darling Nvidia are in the fund’s top 10. Q2 Trial Results Are Crucial Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:) NYSE: LLY is one of two pharmaceutical stocks behind the weight loss drug craze that has impacted the stock market and healthcare system. Shares have performed well in 2025, with a total return of 12% as of the Feb. 11 close. Contributing meaningfully to the stock’s rise so far this year was the firm’s report on Feb. 6. Sales of the company’s GLP-1 drugs are still red-hot. But does this mean a rally in Eli Lilly is likely to continue? Below, I’ll discuss essential points from the earnings report and management commentary. I’ll then provide an outlook on the company’s shares. Lilly’s Results Send Shares Higher After Guidance Reset On the top-line, Lilly’s revenue grew by 45%, a brisk pace that was in line with expectations. Earnings more than doubled, beating analyst estimates by 6%. Mounjaro and Zepbound, the company’s key drugs, showed strong growth. Mounjaro and Zepbound both contain the same drug, tirzepatide. Mounjaro helps treat type 2 diabetes, while Zepbound is for obesity. Mounjaro sales rose 60% compared to Q4 2023. Zepbound sales rose by 985% to $1.9 billion. However, Q4 2023 was the first quarter Zepbound was available for prescription, a key reason for the astronomic rise. Zepbound sales growth of 52% from Q3 2024 is still highly impressive and provides a fairer view of the drug’s sales growth. Despite these rapid growth rates, sales for Mounjaro and Zepbound fell well short of initial analyst predictions. Estimates for this earnings release were reset after the firm released a preliminary update on Jan. 14. The press release resulted in shares plummeting over 6%. Lilly: Taking Market Share, and for Good Reason Overall, these sales helped Lilly continue closing its gap with Novo Nordisk (NYSE:) A/S NYSE: NVO in the U.S. incretin analogs market. Incretin analogs include injectable GLP-1s, oral GLP-1s, and GLP-1/GIP dual agonists. Lilly has been steadily gaining market share on Novo Nordisk since May 2024. It now controls nearly 49% of the market, while Novo controls 51%. This is a 5% improvement compared to Q4 2023. Much of this market share gain is due to studies showing that Zepbound is more effective in creating weight loss than Novo’s competing drug, Wegovy. Top-line results from the Phase 3b SURMOUNT-5 study showed that Zepbound provided 47% greater relative weight loss compared to Wegovy. Lilly has also been able to rectify issues around keeping up with demand much faster than Novo, another likely contributor to its market share gain. Novo still has its drug, semaglutide, on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) shortage list, while the FDA removed Lilly’s in Oct. 2024. What’s Next For Lilly, and Is It a Buy? Overall, Lilly has a few key ways it can continue to support and expand its expected growth in 2025. First, the company now has the production capacity to prevent a sales bottleneck. Management says it will be able to make 60% more tirzepatide in the first half of 2025 than it did in the same 2024 *******. The company also expects Phase 3 trial readouts of its oral incretin drug, orforglipron. It expects results in Q2 for diabetes and in Q3 for obesity. Successful results would be huge. The drug will probably cost much less than tirzepatide. This is because pills are easier to make and store than injectables. This could significantly expand who could access incretin drugs. A recent study from the American Journal of Managed Care found that leaders of big U.S. health plans see high costs as the main barrier to coverage for incretin drugs. Lilly also estimates that 20% to 25% of U.S. patients have needle fear. A pill form of medication could expand accessibility to these folks. With supply concerns addressed, Lilly plans to launch global access to orforglipron “as rapidly as possible” in early 2026. Overall, the possibility of huge near-term upside in Lilly shares hinges largely on the orforglipron results. I won’t speculate on how these results may turn out. I believe Lilly’s success in making the most effective approved incretin drug gives it a big edge in this area. This stock is a long-term allocation. It could really excel with its other incretin candidates, even if orforglipron falls short. This provides a long-term opportunity for a market some believe could reach $150 billion in value. The average price targets from Wall Street analysts still see a solid upside in shares of nearly 15%. Listen to the latest episode of “Quick Start” The preacher announced his retirement earlier this month, after 41 years of him and his wife, Gay, serving as co-lead pastors of the congregation. The pair took over the church in 1983, when it was Shades Crest Church of God. It later transitioned to Pocahontas Road Church of God before assuming its current name. “I’m just tired,” he said in an interview with AL.com. “My wife’s tired.” Allan Kendrick has faced intense scrutiny since his grandson, 32-year-old Brandon Allan Kendrick II, was charged with five counts of capital *******. According to court documents, Brandon Kendrick has been accused of fatally shooting his 24-year-old wife, Kelse, their two children, 6-year-old Kaleb and 2-year-old Kynli, as well as cousins 8-year-old Colton and 6-year-old Haley Daniels. The pastor said, “When this happened, I started getting accused of being responsible for the five murders that took place. They claimed I stood and watched it.” Allan Kendrick, though, has asserted that is simply not the case. He said “it was only by the grace of God that my wife and I” did not fall victim to their grandson’s deadly shooting spree. Speaking to the Oasis congregants just days after the killings, Allan Kendrick recalled the harrowing ordeal, revealing it was his wife, Gay, who took the gun out of Brandon Kendrick’s hands. The minister told churchgoers he and his wife had been talking and laughing with their grandson mere minutes before. After he left their bedroom, gunshots purportedly rang out. The alleged shooting took place in the apartment above the garage on the elder Kendrick’s property, where Brandon Kendrick and his family lived. “I didn’t have my shoes on, so I’m putting my shoes on,” Allan Kendrick said, recalling after he and his wife heard the bullets fired. “He [Brandon] walks in our bedroom with a gun in his hand. [Gay] was closest to him. She grabbed the gun. It went off. I don’t know how it kept from hitting her.” Then, after a brief pause, he said, “Yeah, I do,” suggesting it was God who protected his wife, keeping a bullet from fatally striking her. That comment sparked applause from the congregation. The pastor continued, “Because our prayer team, that night, about an hour before this incident, our prayer team stood right here and joined hands and prayed for mine and Gay’s safety, because I had reached out to them; I’d reached out to several of the church members. There were several assisting me and helping me trying to get some kind of help. So they prayed for us.” After managing to subdue his grandson, Allan Kendrick said the young man “didn’t know where he was.” It’s important to note the co-pastors raised their grandson from the age of 12, because his father had died and his mother was allegedly addicted to drugs. Members of the family told the Daily Mail Brandon Kendrick suffered from schizophrenia that worsened in the weeks leading up to the massacre. In the aftermath of the murders, a Facebook group materialized. In it, several people — including the granddaughter of Gay Kendrick’s sister, Haley Goodwin Beard — accused Allan Kendrick of enabling the deadly rampage, and even providing the firearm used by his grandson. “My grandson’s wife had bought a gun,” he retorted. “She was working at Dollar General some at night. I told her not to do it; she did anyway. About two weeks before all that happened, she brought me the gun and said he didn’t need [to have access to] it. I said, ‘I told you that.’ I told her, ‘I’m going to hide it, put it up here in the closet.’ I set it right back behind this shelf right here. I didn’t know she came back and got it.” Because of the intense scrutiny he has faced, Allan Kendrick said he and his wife have not been able to truly grieve the losses they’ve experienced. “All that tragedy and then bam,” he said. “I was threatened, my family was threatened if we came to the ********, so we didn’t go to the ********. We had no closure with that. I’ve just been under a lot [of pressure].” “I’ve been through hell and back in my 41 years there,” he later added of his time as a pastor, noting he has been accused by critics of ******* harassment, ******* abuse, and covering up ******* abuse. While he has denied those allegations, Allan Kendrick said the Tennessee-based Church of God denomination hired an investigator to look into the accusations leveled against him. The pastor noted that, should the investigation continue, he will surrender his preaching license. Typically, there’s a refund when you overpay taxes throughout the year, and a tax bill when you don’t pay enough. It’s up to the employee to tell employers how much federal tax to withhold from each paycheck via Form W-4. The form “seems like a calculus problem,” said Tommy Lucas, a certified financial planner and enrolled agent at Moisand Fitzgerald Tamayo in Orlando, Florida. But there’s a “quick and dirty” way to figure it out, he said. For example, let’s say your “total tax” was $10,000 for 2024. If there are 23 pay periods left in 2025, you’ll need to withhold roughly $435 from each paycheck, Lucas said. To withhold more, you can resubmit Form W-4 with an “extra withholding” added in the “other adjustments” section of step 4, he said. “That’s the simple, back-of-the-napkin method,” Lucas said. However, you’ll need to readjust your W-4 at the beginning of the next tax year. It should also be updated as your tax situation changes — like a bonus, second job, marriage, divorce, having a child and more. Use the IRS ‘tax withholding estimator’ If your tax situation has changed or you want a more detailed update, you can use a free IRS tool known as the “tax withholding estimator,” Lucas said. “It’s intuitive and it actually does a really good job,” he said. Stephen Gaghan wrote the campaign of Call of Duty: Ghosts Director/writer Stephen Gaghan has worked on some iconic movies and TV shows but Call of Duty: Ghosts was Gaghan’s first project outside of Hollywood, so naturally he was eager to learn how things functioned in the gaming industry. In 2013, Gaghan appeared for an interview with Paulsemel and talked about the experience of writing one of the most underrated games of the Call of Duty franchise. Before Gaghan, many Hollywood writers were brought in, however, they just saw the story and instructed what needed to be done, but Gaghan got his own office and worked alongside developers to understand how the company was working. When he was asked why he didn’t just “look at the story, tell them what to do, and go home,” he said, I wasn’t interested in that, at all. Where my office was located, down one axis were computer programmers writing code, and down the other were the designers making levels. And I was right at the intersection. And I thought that was not just interesting but important because nobody really knows what’s coming down the pike, and everyone’s always predicting the end of the movie business, and here are these people who are going to make a billion dollars in twenty-four hours, and they’re working their ****** off, but they’re also having a really good time. Overall, Gaghan loved the process and the people he worked with, and in the end, he gave fans the iconic campaign of Ghosts. When the game was initially released, the campaign was labeled as “lengthy, challenging, and varied,” however, it wasn’t too bad. Today, many will agree that Ghosts was an important entry in the franchise, mainly because it introduced some new features that completely changed first-person shooters. Apart from Robert Downey Jr., the film featured some heavy hitters like Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Jim Broadbent, Jessie Buckley, Emma Thompson, Rami Malek, John Cena, and Tom Holland, but unfortunately, nothing could save the film. Upon release, Dolittle was met with generally negative reviews from critics as well as fans. The film reportedly had a budget of roughly $175-192 million and it grossed $251 million worldwide. The 55-year-old tourist attempted to “engage with the animal from the shallows in an attempt to take photographs,” according to a press release from the Turks and Caicos Department of Environment and Coastal Resources (DECR). The incident took place in Blue Hills, Providenciales, on Friday, Feb. 7, and the victim was taken to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where she was stabilized and transported off the island for further medical attention. She is expected to survive. The woman’s identity has not been released, but several tabloids report that the tourist is believed to be a ********* national. It came as a real shock that, all of a sudden, [I was] this sick,” the Scarborough man told Global News. Dennis called 911 and was rushed to Scarborough General Hospital in Toronto. Glenn Dennis Dr. Subodh Verma, a cardiac surgeon-scientist and professor at the University of Toronto, said the situation was very serious and life-threatening. “He had a severe infection involving two of the main valves of the heart, endocarditis of the aortic valve and endocarditis of the mitral valve,” Verma explained. “There was actually pus and an abscess that had formed within the heart.” “When we saw this patient, he was in profound heart failure,” Verma said. But an emergency surgery gave Dennis the chance to live. “At the end of seven hours he had two new valves and a heart that was free of any infection,” Verma said. “Then the fight really started in the ICU to make sure that he could actually get through the next few days.” Story continues below advertisement How do endocarditis infections happen? Endocarditis is a relatively rare condition. People with weaker immune systems are also at a higher level of risk. “In some cases, we fail either because the bacteria are too strong or because the host is weak or, in many cases, we just don’t know,” he said. Article says flat gaming has hit a dead end. But there’s always more to improve there as well as VR gaming. I was just as jaded by how nothing seems improve in gaming. The same fighting games, the same red barrels, the same stupid AI. I was almost done after playing for over 40 years of gaming. Then I got VR. VR made me feel like a kid again. Everything was new. I wanted to try all types of VR games. Found many great titles. But, it reinvigorated my love of gaming too. Games like Ghost of Tsushima took gaming for me to the next level beyond great games like Onimusha. Or reflux 5 getting a great Spider-Man game story and all. Horizon went way beyond what Guerilla Games did with Killzone. Retro games became that much more fun again. Arcade and old school console games. But VR does have a long way to go. It’ll be years before we get to the point where modern gaming is now. But the journey is just as fun until we get there. Can’t wait to see the more advanced VR games with more physics, AI, objects on-screen, etc. Just like what’s happening in flat gaming. Can’t wait for VR to hit that Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man moment in VR. VR is innovative. But flat gaming can still surprise us. Even peripherals like Dual Sense brought unexpected surprises. Even though 3D sound does have its impressive origins in VR that PS5 and Xbox series enjoy now.
