Napoli blows chance of top spot after loss at Como Napoli blows chance of top spot after loss at Como Napoli’s winless streak reached four matches with a 2-1 loss at promoted Como in the Italian league. Amir Rrahmani set the tone of the match for Napoli on Sunday with an own goal after seven minutes. Giacomo Raspadori equalised for Napoli 10 minutes later, but 19-year-old Spanish winger Assane Diao won it for Como after being set up by Nico Paz late in the second half. Antonio Conte’s Napoli had a chance to reclaim the Serie A lead from defending champions Inter Milan, who moved ahead by beating Genoa on Saturday, but will instead be in second for a match-up with Inter next weekend. Napoli had drawn their three previous matches. Como, coached by Cesc Fabregas, moved up to 13th place. Meanwhile, third-placed Atalanta bounced back from a Champions League exit with a 5-0 rout at Empoli that was helped by a brace from Ademola Lookman. Mateo Retegui and Davide Zappacosta also scored for Atalanta, who took the lead with an own goal from Emmanuel Gyasi. Atalanta moved within three points of the top of the league. Fourth-placed Juventus won 1-0 at Cagliari with an early goal from Dusan Vlahovic after they, too, were eliminated from the Champions League. Hellas Verona beat Fiorentina 1-0 with a goal five minutes into second-half injury time from Antoine Bernede. Fiorentina striker and former Everton player Moise Kean was diagnosed with a head injury after collapsing on the field in the second half. Italy international Kean had been involved in an accidental collision with Pawel Dawidowicz and Diego Coppola, taking a knee to the face that left him with a cut above his eye. Although Kean returned to the pitch after treatment with his head bandaged, the 24-year-old soon fell, initially appearing unresponsive, before being taken off on a stretcher in the 67th minute. Fiorentina later confirmed Kean had suffered a head trauma and was in hospital for tests. Kean made 32 Premier League appearances for Everton, scoring two goals, in the 2019-20 season. Dave Ramsey’s wife was once asked why she was with a man who won’t pay his bills — Here’s what the money guru did Dave Ramsey’s wife was once asked why she was with a man who won’t pay his bills — Here’s what the money guru did A bill collector from American Express once asked Dave Ramsey’s wife, ‘Why would you stay with a man who won’t pay his bills?’ And it made the money guru mad. Here’s what he did As of early 2025, financial guru Dave Ramsey’s net worth was estimated at around $200 million. But the well-known personal finance pundit wasn’t always wealthy. There was a time in Ramsey’s life when he was deep in debt — the one thing he loves to warn consumers against — and couldn’t keep up with his bills. But there was one specific moment on his debt journey that helped him turn things around. Years back, an American Express bill collector called Ramsey’s house and spoke to his wife. During the call, the debt collector made a comment that struck a nerve with Ramsey. “Why would you stay with a man who won’t pay his bills?” the bill collector asked. That comment lit a fire in Ramsey to dig his way out of debt and turn his finances around. And it’s more than fair to say that he’s come a long way since. Ramsey wasn’t always the millionaire he is today. In fact, he once said, “When we first got married, we were so broke it was unbelievable.” In his 20s, things started looking up for Ramsey. He started buying and selling real estate and at 26 years old, he had a great income. He bought a fancy car and had a baby. But then things started falling apart. Once the banks he had borrowed from started calling about his loans, Ramsey had 90 days to repay millions of dollars in debt. “I couldn’t control the outside variables… I remember being so scared,” he said. Ramsey had no choice but to file for bankruptcy, but that ignited a spark in him to get on a better financial path. Ramsey started following a budget and made other positive changes, like building savings. And following that jarring phone call, he pledged to use his financial knowledge and faith to start building his empire. Read more: Rich, young Americans are ditching the stormy stock market — here are the alternative assets they’re banking on instead In 1992, Ramsey started a radio show that took callers’ money questions. Within two years, it became the top-rated show in Nashville and eventually became nationally syndicated. Ramsey’s thought process was simple: “I’ll teach this financial stuff I’ve learned the hard way.” Story Continues Ramsey has also authored books on financial freedom and started his company, Ramsey Solutions, to help consumers become debt-free. According to his website, he’s helped people pay off more than $1 billion in debt and “change their lives for good.” “The thing that changed my life was the nobility of my future,” Ramsey once shared on his show. “I looked out there in the future and I said, you know what, this is it. Never again will we borrow money. Never again is American Express going to call my house and ask my wife why she would stay with a man that won’t pay his bills.” To this day, Ramsey works to share his financial philosophy so that other people don’t fall into the same trap he did. And that philosophy is rooted in a few core elements. First, Ramsey hates debt and thinks it should be avoided at all costs. Other than a mortgage, he thinks no debt is worth carrying. As his website says, “As long as your money is tied up in monthly debt payments, you can’t build wealth. That’s like trying to run a marathon with your legs tied together.” Ramsey also believes in the importance of having a fully-loaded emergency fund — one with enough money to cover three to six months of expenses. Once people get to that point, they should invest 15% of their income toward retirement. And Ramsey is a fan of investing in growth stock mutual funds in particular. Ramsey also thinks it’s important to invest consistently and think long-term. That means buying quality stocks and assets and holding them for many years so their value appreciates. Finally, Ramsey is a fan of working with a financial advisor. “Look for a pro who takes time to answer your questions and gives you all the information you need to make good investing choices,” his website says. Had Ramsey had his own financial advisor back in the day, he perhaps would’ve avoided some of the financial heartache his family experienced. But it clearly motivated him and made him stronger, and that’s perhaps the most important lesson to take away. This article provides information only and should not be construed as advice. Israeli tanks deployed in occupied West Bank, United States seek ceasefire extension as tensions build Israeli tanks deployed in occupied West Bank, United States seek ceasefire extension as tensions build Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has deployed IDF tanks in the occupied West Bank, a move described as a “dangerous escalation” by ************ authorities. It marks the first time that IDF tanks have entered the region since 2002 when Israel battled ************ uprising. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said Mr Netanyahu ordered the military action to “increase the intensity of the activity to thwart terrorism” in camps in the occupied West Bank. “We will not allow the return of residents, and we will not allow terrorism to return and grow.” Tanks have been seen moving in Jenin, a city with over 330,000 residents. The ************ foreign ministry called the Israeli moves “a dangerous escalation of the situation in the West Bank,” and urged the international community in a statement to intervene in what it termed Israel’s ******** “aggression.” “Even if they stay, we will return to the camp at the end,” said Mohamed al-Sadi, one of those displaced from Jenin. “This camp is ours. We have no other place to go.” Israel is deepening its crackdown on the ************ territory and has said it is determined to stamp out militancy amid a rise in attacks. It launched the offensive in the northern West Bank on January 21 — two days after the current ceasefire in Gaza took hold — and expanded it to nearby areas. Palestinians view such raids as part of an effort to cement Israeli control over the territory, where three million Palestinians live under military rule. The deadly raids have caused destruction in urban areas. US working to secure ceasefire extension US President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to the Middle East this week to push for the extension of a fragile Gaza ceasefire between Israel and ******. The three-stage ceasefire which came into effect on January 19 is now nearing the end of its first phase. It has largely held despite accusations of violations by both sides and a series of setbacks, the latest of which came over the weekend. “We have to get an extension of phase one. I’ll be going to the region this week, probably Wednesday, to negotiate that and we are hopeful that we have the proper time to begin phase two and finish it off and get more hostages released,” Mr Witkoff told CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday. The first phase of the ceasefire included a deal to exchange 33 Israeli hostages held in Gaza for almost 2000 ************ detainees and prisoners held by Israel. The second phase would include a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the release of around 60 remaining hostages. The ceasefire agreement hit a new hurdle on Saturday when Israel delayed the release of 602 Palestinians from its jails in exchange for six Israeli hostages who were led by armed militants onto a stage in front of a crowd in Gaza before being handed to the Red Cross. ******-staged public handover ceremonies which have included the display of living hostages and of coffins carrying hostages’ remains, have drawn increasing criticism over the past few weeks, including from the United Nations. Mr Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel was waiting to deliver the ************ prisoners and detainees “until the release of the next hostages has been assured, and without the humiliating ceremonies”. ****** said the ceremonies were dignified and Israel was using them as a pretext to evade its obligations agreed to under the ceasefire. The bodies of four more hostages are supposed to be released by the group this week. – With CNBC, Reuters, AP Source link #Israeli #tanks #deployed #occupied #West #Bank #United #States #seek #ceasefire #extension #tensions #build Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

Three arrested after street racing on I-75 Saturday Three arrested after street racing on I-75 Saturday Three men were arrested Saturday after a group of vehicles initiated a “street takeover” on Interstate 75 in Collier County and took part in street racing on the freeway, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release. The incident began about 4:05 p.m. as FHP state troopers responded to a report of stopped vehicles and traffic congestion, with a low flying helicopter taking video near mile marker 51, which is in the Big Cypress Preserve in Collier County. A screen grab of a video supplied by the Florida Highway Patrol of a “street takeover” on Interstate 75 in Collier County on Saturday, where a green Porsche was doing donuts before a crowd of onlookers. Five dark colored SUVs were parked side by side, blocking the northbound interstate travel lanes and shoulders, with several people standing outside their vehicles as a bright green Porsche GT3 911 “performed aggressive circular spins (aka donuts),” the FHP release stated. “This action left a thick cloud of smoke, leaving a visible haze in the area,” troopers said. A Porsche the Florida Highway Patrol said it impounded Saturday after a “street takeover” and racing on northbound Interstate 75 Saturday in Collier County. While responding to the incident, troopers said they saw more than 25 high performance vehicles speeding north. They stopped the Porsche in the parking lot of the 63-mile marker recreation area and arrested a 27-year-old Staten Island man who told them he was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the “street takeover.” He was charged with riding a passenger in race competition in violation of state law, the FHP said. The Porsche driver, described as “the camera guy,” the FHP said, remains unknown. The Florida Highway Patrol said it seized a blue Porsche after it was involved in street racing on Interstate 75 in Collier County Saturday. Other troopers at 4:09 p.m. responded to a street takeover occurring at mile marker 63 on northbound I-75, the agency reported. There, troopers saw a blue Porsche making an ******** U-turn at mile marker 65, which is “a prohibited paved U-turn spot.” The unregistered Porsche was impounded, and the driver, a 39-year-old man was issued a misdemeanor notice to appear in court. Minutes later, at about 4:19 p.m. troopers reported seeing a two-door 2024 Blue Ferrari SF90 racing “multiple exotic vehicles” on northbound I-75. The Ferrari, with no displayed license tag, was clocked going 148 mph in a posted 70 mph zone, the FHP said. The driver, a 32-year-old New York man was arrested for racing on the highway, speeding and not having a tag. The Ferrari was impounded. . The Trump administration is firing 2,000 USAID workers and putting thousands of others on leave The Trump administration is firing 2,000 USAID workers and putting thousands of others on leave A flag outside of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) headquarters is seen on February 03, 2025 in Washington, DC. Kevin Dietsch | Getty Images The Trump administration said Sunday that it is eliminating 2,000 positions at the U.S. Agency for International Development and placing all but a fraction of other staffers worldwide on leave. It comes after a federal judge on Friday allowed the administration to move forward with pulling thousands of USAID staffers off the job in the United States and around the world. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols rejected pleas that came in a lawsuit from employees to keep temporarily blocking the government’s plan. “As of 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, February 23, 2025, all USAID direct hire personnel, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and/or specially designated programs, will be placed on administrative leave globally,” according to the notices sent to USAID workers and viewed by The Associated Press. At the same time, the agency said it is cutting the U.S.-based workforce by about 2,000 employees. The move escalates a monthlong administration assault on the agency that has closed its headquarters in Washington and shut down thousands of U.S. aid and development programs worldwide following an effort to freeze foreign assistance. President Donald Trump and his chief cost-cutter, Elon Musk, contend the aid and development work is wasteful and furthers a liberal agenda. Citing a big concern for workers stationed overseas who have reported being cut off from government communications, the notices say that “USAID is committed to keeping its overseas personnel safe. Until they return home, personnel will retain access to Agency systems and to diplomatic and other resources.” The administration said employees put on leave overseas are expected to receive “voluntary Agency-funded return travel” and other benefits. Nichols, who was nominated by Trump, said he had been “very concerned” about workers in high-risk areas left overseas without access to emergency communications. But he said he has since been reassured by the administration that workers would still have access to two-way radios that allow 24–7 communications in emergencies, as well as a phone app with a “panic button.” The judge said the government’s statements persuaded him “that the risk posed to USAID employees who are placed on administrative leave while stationed abroad — if there is any — is far more minimal than it initially appeared.” The notices of firings and leaves come on top of hundreds of USAID contractors receiving no-name form letters of termination over the weekend, according to copies that AP viewed. The blanket nature of the notification letters to USAID contractors, excluding the names or positions of those receiving it, could make it difficult for the dismissed workers to get unemployment benefits, workers noted. A different judge in a second lawsuit tied to the dismantling of USAID has temporarily blocked the freeze on foreign assistance and said this past week that the administration had kept withholding the aid despite his court order and must at least temporarily restore the funding to programs worldwide. Unsurprisingly, Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will also be first-person Unsurprisingly, Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will also be first-person CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, dubbed at this time as Project Orion, will unsurprisingly remain a first-person experience. It’d be shocking if it was third-person quite frankly. A recent senior gameplay animator job listing on LinkedIn spilled some details about the perspective of the game. Specifically the job at hand requires the hires “enhance the players immersive experience in first person view.” The selected animator would also be expected to “create visually appealing, immersive first person animation assets.” Considering the game had set itself up for being a polar opposite compared to its other big IP, The Witcher, this revelation that the game will continue the same first-person perspective we’ve come to expect might not be that big of a deal to some. USA vs Australia: MacKenzie Arnold, Clare Hunt, Katrina Gorry, Tameka Yallop dropped for United States clash USA vs Australia: MacKenzie Arnold, Clare Hunt, Katrina Gorry, Tameka Yallop dropped for United States clash Matildas interim coach Tom Sermanni has made four big changes as Australia face the titanic task of conquering the World No.1 USA on their home soil in their SheBelieves Cup game this morning. But it appeared to have no immediate impact on the Matildas’ fortunes with the USA scoring inside a minute through Lynn Biyendolo After an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Japan in the opening game on Friday Sermanni has swung the axe on some of his veteran players with goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold being dropped for Teagan Micah. Katrina Gorry, Clare Hunt and Tameka Yallop will also start on the bench as Holly McNamara, Charli Grant and Winonah Heatley join the starting line-up. Sermanni said before the game he would not make “wholesale” changes” before essentially doing exactly that for the match against the Olympic champions in Arizona. “Coaches often talk about wholesale changes, but when you look at it, nobody actually makes wholesale changes,” Sermanni said. “But we’re making a few changes. We’re definitely changing the line-up and bringing a few different players in.” Sermanni indicated some substitutes against Japan had earned starts. “The key thing for us in this tournament is it to try and give exposure for players that are not regulars in the team. And that’s what we tend to do during the tournament,” Sermanni said. “How much we can do that depends on a whole lot of factors, but it’s certainly our intent to get some of those younger players out there and playing in the team – whether they come off the bench, or whether they start in the team. “At the same time, you have to look at putting out a balanced team. “If you look back two or three years ago, when Australia put out a very inexperienced team against Spain (losing 7-0), I don’t think that was a really valuable exercise at the time. “Getting the right mix is what’s really important. Because you don’t just want to throw young players in if that mix isn’t right, because you’re kind of exposing them and you’re potentially doing them some damage at the same time.” US coach Emma Hayes fielded some younger players in a 2-0 win against Colombia. But Sermanni was acutely aware of the Americans’ depth. “We’ve got to get lots of things right. The first thing is we need to be ready to go out there and compete and deal with their intensity and their quality of play,” Sermanni said. “The thing that the US has done now is they built up not just a starting team, but a real quality squad, where even if they have five or six key players missing, they still get an outstanding team. “They’re a very formidable team at the moment. So the first thing in the first and foremost thing, is that we need to go and compete – that’s that’s basically what we need to do. “Then if we do that, we need to then have the confidence to play the kind of football that we’re capable of.” Source link #USA #Australia #MacKenzie #Arnold #Clare #Hunt #Katrina #Gorry #Tameka #Yallop #dropped #United #States #clash Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

Moldova urges clergy to “tell the truth” about Ukraine war Moldova urges clergy to “tell the truth” about Ukraine war By Alexander Tanas CHISINAU (Reuters) – Moldova’s government, a fierce critic of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, appealed to the country’s clergy on Sunday to “tell the truth” about the war, saying that Moscow’s military actions had destroyed some 500 places of worship. Government spokesperson Daniel Voda’s appeal, on the eve of the third anniversary of the Russian invasion, appeared linked to a split in Moldova’s Orthodox Church into competing branches subordinate to Russia and Romania. Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories. More than 90 percent of churchgoers in Moldova, which lies between Ukraine and Romania, adhere to the Orthodox Church. The invasion, backed enthusiastically by Russia’s Orthodox Church, has accelerated a move by parishes from Moldova’s majority Moscow-linked Moldova Metropolis to the smaller Romania-linked church, the Metropolis of Bessarabia. Since the invasion, still dubbed a “Special Military Operation” in Russia, more than 60 parishes have transferred their allegiance in the country of 2.5 million. “From the beginning of the invasion, more than 500 churches, synagogues and mosques have been destroyed or damaged. That’s one every two days,” Voda said in his appeal. “Do not remain silent. Tell the world the truth. The aggression is not just a fight for territory, it is the destruction of shrines.” Metropolitan Vladimir of the Moscow-linked Moldova Metropolis has made a point of saying his church denounced the invasion “from the very first day” and organised assistance for more than 90,000 Ukrainian refugees, the highest number per capita in Europe. “At every service I say a special prayer in which I ask for mercy for the church and pray for an end to the war in Ukraine,” Vladimir said in a 2023 interview. “I am not afraid to call it the ‘war in Ukraine’ in the prayer. I do not pray for (Russian President Vladimir) Putin.” Media reports have spoken of priests from the Russia-linked church backing the Russian invasion in some parishes. Reuters could not independently verify these reports. And the church acknowledges that groups of priests last year made “pilgrimages” to holy sites in Russia, with Russian financing. The split in church ranks reflects Moldova’s turbulent history, with most of its current territory having belonged at various times in the past to the Russian Empire or the Soviet Union and “Greater Romania.” The Romania-linked Metropolis of Bessarabia is increasingly linked to Moldova’s drive to join the European Union by 2030. American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi lands safely in Rome after security concern American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi lands safely in Rome after security concern Brent Lewin | Bloomberg | Getty Images An American Airlines flight from New York to New Delhi, India, landed safely in Rome on Sunday afternoon after it was diverted due to a security concern, which later proved to be “non-credible,” the airline said. American Airlines said Flight 292 “was inspected by law enforcement” after landing at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport and “cleared to re-depart.” It didn’t clarify the cause of the security concern, but added an inspection was required by protocol before the flight could land in New Delhi. “The flight will stay in Rome overnight to allow for required crew rest before continuing to Delhi as soon as possible tomorrow,” the airline said. An Associated Press reporter filmed two fighter jets flying over the airport shortly before the unscheduled landing. Fire trucks were visible on the landing strip on one side of the plane after it landed. Neeraj Chopra, one of the passengers on flight, said the captain alerted the plane that they needed to turn around about three hours before they were supposed to land in Dehli because of a change in “security status.” Chopra, who was traveling from Detroit, Michigan to visit family, described the mood on the plane as calm after the initial announcement but said he begin to stress when the captain later announced that fighter jets would be escorting their plane to Rome “I felt a little panic of, okay, what’s going on here?” Chopra told the AP. “There’s got to be like something ******* going on here.” Chopra said he has a new flight leaving Monday. “It’s been like a pretty chaotic crazy last 24 hours,” he said. The airport continued to operate normally, a spokesman with Rome’s airport said. Canada also needs to be part of these security conversations, Nikolenko said. “We think that at this time, it’s really high time for Canada to play a leadership role,” he said. “Canada can really fill several gaps right now: military support, humanitarian, demining, training of our forces.
