Alexander Isak: Newcastle United striker hits 50-goal landmark
Alexander Isak: Newcastle United striker hits 50-goal landmark
Newcastle United’s thrilling 4-3 victory against Nottingham Forest was significant for several reasons, not least that Alexander Isak joined an elite group of players.
Isak’s two goals on Sunday, while certainly not vintage, took him to 19 Premier League goals this season. Three more and it will be his best campaign at the club.
The Sweden striker’s second goal against Forest was also his 50th in the Premier League, a tally achieved in just 76 top-flight games.
Only six players in the competition’s history have joined the 50 club quicker, which is testament to how good Isak has been.
“What he has done is amazing. In the modern game, he is right up there as one of the top strikers anywhere, not just in the Premier League,” former England goalkeeper Joe Hart told BBC Match of the Day.
“He’s so fit and so quick and he is always such a threat because he scores all sorts of goals.
“He’s different to all of those players above him on that list [of quickest to 50 Premier League goals] and that is part of what makes him so hard to stop.
“What I really love about him is that it’s not just in front of goal where he looks good. He’s clinical of course, but he is a team player too.
“He’s a gem for Newcastle and at 25 he is still young, still hungry and he can still get even better.”
So who scored 50 Premier League goals in fewer games than Isak? BBC Sport takes a look at the names on that elite list.

Jeetarwal spell wrecks Viewers as Great Boulder sew-up minor premiership
Jeetarwal spell wrecks Viewers as Great Boulder sew-up minor premiership
Great Boulder will line up next month in the Eastern Goldfields Cricket Association’s A-grade grand final for a fifth consecutive campaign after an accurate attack on Saturday underpinned a seven-wicket triumph against Lake View.
In a clash of first versus last at Ray Finlayson Sporting Complex, Great Boulder needed just 12.2 overs to overhaul the Viewers’ 67.
It secured them a ninth win and the minor premiership which carries an automatic berth in the decider on March 29.
With two rounds of qualifiers left, the Two Blues are three games clear of North Kalgoorlie.
For Lake View, it continued a horror slide — dating back to round six after they had won two of the opening three matches.
In the ensuing eight matches, the Viewers have been successful once — against Hannans in round 11 when they snapped a five-game losing sequence.
Batting first last weekend, Lake View were quickly on the back foot at 4-23, and were bogged down by Great Boulder whose bowlers conceded 10 runs through the opening six overs.
By the 14th over, Lake View were reeling at 5-37, with only Jasper Marlow (11 off 21 ******) and Mark Williams (not out 29 off 43 ******) contributing in double-digits.
Among Lake View’s top-five, Matt Carter, Ash Malec, Luke Boxhall, and Marlow each fell to Mewa Jeetarwal, who was rewarded with 5-18.
His impressive spell was complemented by Josh Rushmore (2-24), Prash Nagaraja (2-12), and Daniel Colling (1-13).
Great Boulder’s run chase got off to a bad start when Kody Kelman was run out for two off the last ball of the first over.
Alex Jerrard (8) followed in the fourth over and Waqar ali Ahmed was dismissed without scoring before Bevan Bennell (not out 37 off 32 ******) and Rushmore (not out 21 off 23 ******) steered Great Boulder to 3-69.
Luke Boxhall led the attack with 2-16.
However, Lake View remain in fourth place — a game adrift of third-placed Hannans and running out of time to make an impact, ahead of a top-three finals series.
Great Boulder have won their past seven matches.

Government greenlights nationwide hunt to cut apex predator population in half: ‘We are concerned’
Government greenlights nationwide hunt to cut apex predator population in half: ‘We are concerned’
The Swedish government has put in motion a plan to halve the country’s population of endangered wolves, outraging conservationists.
What happened?
As Mongabay detailed, the Swedish government permitted a hunt in January that allowed for the killing of 30 endangered wolves. According to the Guardian, there were 375 recorded individuals before the hunt. Despite records that the population dropped around 20% in 2022-23, the government announced the intention to reduce numbers further.
The new “favorable conservation status” population number has been set at 170, down from the previous minimum of 300.
Bern Convention members also ruled recently that the wolves’ status be moved from “strictly protected” to “protected,” with this coming into force in March. This will enable more wolves to be legally culled in European nations. The ruling has been made to protect farmers’ livestock and stop the wolf population from getting out of control.
However, according to the Guardian, environmental experts believe the ruling would not only be devastating for the wolves but for the wider ecosystem across the European continent as well.
Why is the wolf population important?
For nearly 20 years and until 1983, Sweden had no wolf breeding population. With lax regulations and a hunting quota, the wolves are just barely getting by, the news outlet reported.
Watch now: Giant snails invading New York City?
Ecosystems have a fragile balance. Without a top predator, prey species can over-populate, and the entire habitat can pay the price.
What’s being done to protect the wolves?
Unfortunately, the government gave the go-ahead and handed out permits to hunters, but this hasn’t stopped protection efforts. Conservationists continue to speak out against the unnecessary killing of wolves.
A decade ago, similar outcry from conservationists, including the European Environmental Bureau and WWF, kept 44 wolves from being culled, showing action can yield results.
If you’re concerned about animal conservation where you live, you can donate to climate causes, or you can write to your local representative about the importance of healthy ecosystems.

Philippe Clement: Rangers sack manager a day after loss to St Mirren
Philippe Clement: Rangers sack manager a day after loss to St Mirren
Defeat at the qualifying stages of the Champions League in August had limited Clement’s summer transfer budget amid a worsening financial picture off the pitch.
Rangers announced a £17.2m loss for the year to June, up £4.1m from the previous accounting *******, prompting a reduction to the first-team wage bill for this season.
Contrasted with three-in-a-row champions Celtic’s £13.4m profit, Rangers’ failure to reach the Champions League group stage last season or league phase this term was laid bare.
Former Club Bruges and Monaco boss Clement had earlier in the season signed a new deal until 2028, meaning Rangers face a managerial compensation pay-out for the third season running.
Indeed, Rangers are looking for their fifth permanent manager inside four years with neither Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Beale nor Clement able to put in a credible enough challenge to Celtic since Steven Gerrard won the Ibrox side’s last league title in 2021.
In recent months, there have been boardroom changes at Ibrox, with Stewart joining from Manchester United and Fraser Thornton coming in as non-executive chairman.
The chief executive role had been vacant for around six months following James Bisgrove’s summer departure while John Gilligan was appointed interim chairman in September after John Bennett had stepped down on health grounds.
Stewart, in his interview with club media last week, stated Rangers were hoping to recruit a new sporting director, an appointment Clement later said he would not have a say in.
Clement exits after winning 55 of his 86 games in charge of Rangers, drawing 16 and losing 15.

Proposal to build million-dollar homes on 14-acre Dublin reserve advances
Proposal to build million-dollar homes on 14-acre Dublin reserve advances
DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) — A proposal to build a neighborhood of million-dollar homes on a 14-acre Dublin reserve has taken another step forward.
Applicant Bill Adams’ and architecture firm MKSK’s proposal calls for 20 single-family homes to be built on the 14-acre property north of Bright Road, near the Grande Cliffs Estates and Hopewell Elementary School. Dublin’s planning and zoning commission recommended approval on Feb. 6 to rezone the reserve from a “Restricted Suburban Residential” district to a “Planned Unit Development” district.

“This development is a very unique offering for Dublin,” Adams said during the meeting. “It showcases very sensitive land planning, controlled architecture, along with an elevated price point for the executive housing market.”

Each home would have a $1.5 million to $2 million price tag, with central Ohio-based Corinthian Fine Homes as the neighborhood’s designated builder. Brian Kinzelman, co-founder of MKSK, said the proposal aims to conserve several acres of green space, and reiterated that the development wouldn’t be gated. The development looks “forward to being part of this neighborhood, not exclusive of it,” he said.
“Having something as simple as a tasteful street sign is about as bold as we want to get,” Kinzelman said. “We’re looking to fit in to the neighborhood, not to be an exclusive place on Bright Road. So, no entry walls.”
Planning and zoning commission members talked through certain design criteria, like the width of the development’s sidewalk, but emphasized their support for the proposal. Commissioner Kathy Karter said she appreciated the developers effort to mesh the development with the surrounding community, and Commissioner Kim Way said it shouldn’t “look like every other subdivision in Dublin.”
Kroger proposes new Delaware marketplace, gas station
“This is a really special and unique development, so obviously the applicant is really trying to do something that’s above and beyond and I’m totally supportive of it as a concept,” said Way. “I love the notion of the character of this and a brick side walk, I’d love to see that.”
Commissioner Rebecca Call, chair of the commission, also spoke in support of the proposal, emphasizing the uniqueness of the development.
“I’ve been on the commission a long time, you look at the last time Dublin did a development that had this quality of architecture, of design, of natural resources, of the totality of the application, we don’t get these very often,” said Call.

Young Socceroos can savour World Cup ‘shop window’
Young Socceroos can savour World Cup ‘shop window’
Australia’s rising teenage soccer stars have learned they’ll be facing Japan in the semi-finals of the Under-20 Asian Cup this week, as their coach delighted in his Young Socceroos also enjoying the chance of a lifetime at a World Cup later this year.
Trevor Morgan’s enterprising side were left tearful and ecstatic after their double success on Saturday, in which they not only booked a place in the Asian Cup semis with a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Iraq, but also sealed their qualification for the global under-20 event in Chile later this year.
On Sunday, the youngsters could enjoy a spot of “R and R” in Shenzhen as Japan were busy defeating Iran in a penalty shoot-out to set up Wednesday’s semi-final.
Rion Ichihara scored the winning spot kick as Japan won their quarter-final 4-3 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 at the Shenzhen Youth Football Training Base Centre Stadium.
Morgan believes opportunity really knocks for his side – nearly all of whom are still in their teens – and not just this week, when they they could become the first *********** team to lift the junior Asian title after the class of 2010 came closest, losing in the final to North Korea.
Looking towards September and October’s U20 World Cup, he can see even greater opportunities for his squad, who largely ply their club trade in the A-League Men.
“Obviously I’m super proud of them,” said Morgan, having watched his side win all four of their matches so far in China.
“For the boys themselves, it’s a life goal to get to a World Cup. They’ve achieved qualification and had to do so with some adversity.
“They had to show their fighting spirit. They had to come back, and they produced the goods.
“These under-20 teams exist to give players exposure in high-level tournaments, so that one day they might be a Socceroo.
“They now get the chance to go to the World Cup, a condensed ******* of time in their life where they’ll play the best teams in the world at their age, and have the chance to measure themselves against the best players.
“And also there’s the opportunity for them, potentially the shop window that their career might change based on performances at that level.
“So there’s a lot at stake, and it’s great for the boys to achieve that opportunity.”
The resilience of the team was really tested when they twice had to come from a goal behind before beating Iraq with three cracking strikes from Luka Jovanovic, Panagiotis Kikianis and Alex Badolato.
“Up against top opponents, they’ve been tested before and one great thing about this group is that they keep going, they keep trying to take the initiative in games, and they reaped the rewards from that,” Morgan said.
Next up they face a Japanese team who have already been held to draws in two group games, while Australia have a 100 per cent record after group wins over the Kyrgyz Republic (5-1), Qatar (3-1) and hosts China (2-1).
“This team always prepares to win the next match,” Morgan said. “That’s been our goal ever since we came together.”
The other semi-final, also on Wednesday, pits South Korea against Saudi Arabia, with the final to be staged next Saturday at Shenzhen’s Bao’an Stadium.

Twisted Tower swipes OG BioShock creator’s attention
Twisted Tower swipes OG BioShock creator’s attention
Despite not being out yet, Atmos Games’ Twisted Tower has swiped the attention of BioShock maker Ken Levine following its demo launching during Steam Next Fest.
Earlier this week, Levine took to Twitter to implore people to check out the game’s demo. Obviously, following the attention, developer Thomas Brush responded saying it “made my day” and thanked Levine for being a massive inspiration.
Twisted Tower follows Tiny as he enters the self-titled Twisted Tower to “win treasures beyond measure” after his girl left him for a more well-off man in this 1950s-styled first-person horror shooter. The game wears its inspirations on its sleeve, even pitching the game as a “1950’s resort reminiscent of BioShock and Disney World.”
In our Twisted Tower preview, we said: “I do think Twisted Tower can make for an amazing remedy for those looking to get that distinctive BioShock brand of unease. It meshes together a confusing yet engaging plot that will no doubt be fleshed out in the five different levels that will come at launch, as well as simple gameplay that makes it an easy game to pick up and play.”

Is TotalEnergies SE (TTE) The Best Oil Refinery Stock To Invest In According to Analysts?
Is TotalEnergies SE (TTE) The Best Oil Refinery Stock To Invest In According to Analysts?
We recently published a list of 12 Best Oil Refinery Stocks To Invest In According to Analysts. In this article, we are going to take a look at where TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) stands against other best oil refinery stocks to invest in according to analysts.
The United States of America is the Largest Oil Producing Country in the World with current production reaching record levels, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that it is also counted among the Countries with the Largest Refining Capacities. The US had 132 oil refineries with a total capacity of 18.4 million barrels per day (bpd) at the start of 2024, a 2% increase compared with the start of 2023.
READ ALSO: 11 Best Natural Gas Stocks to Buy Now
2024 was a difficult year for the global refining sector as industry players faced a drop in profitability to multi-year lows amid soft consumer and industrial demand (especially in China), slowing economic growth, increasing energy transition, and expanding global refining capacity. The declining fuel margins in the Q4 2024 led to disappointing earnings results for many oil refiners, as a flood of new output competed with stagnating demand. This has led to several oil majors shutting down operations and putting their refineries up for *****, but that is also not going as smoothly as expected.
Things don’t seem to be getting any better either as according to the International Energy Agency’s recent market outlook, growth in the global demand for oil is expected to slow down in the coming years as energy transitions advance, putting downward pressure on prices. The US Energy Information Administration stated last month that it expects Brent crude oil prices to fall 8% to average $74 a barrel in 2025, then fall further to $66 a barrel in 2026, further reducing margins for refiners.
Moreover, despite his repeated calls to ramp up oil production in the country, President Donald Trump’s tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada could make things worse for the refining sector. Many refineries in the Midwest depend on ********* crude and the upcoming 10% tariff will force them to pay either more for their feedstock, or slash production, further squeezing an industry already in decline. The President wants to make America self-sufficient and independent when it comes to energy, but no matter how much oil the United States pumps, its refineries were designed to process the darker, denser, cheaper crude that is hard to find domestically. However, Trump’s plans to roll back support for electric vehicles and charging stations could slow their sales and bolster gasoline demand, offering some respite to the industry.
Story Continues
The rapid energy transition is also a major cause of concern for the refining sector as governments push drivers toward electric vehicles in pursuit of climate goals. So the only way forward is for the industry to adapt and evolve. Several forward-looking refiners are now boosting their resilience by upgrading their facilities to produce higher-value but lower-carbon products such as petrochemicals and renewable fuels, though it will require significant capital investment.
The energy sector has witnessed considerable fluctuations over the last few months, surging by over 6% in November before declining around 10% in December. However, the broader energy sector ended last year with a return of just 5.72%, significantly lagging behind gains of 25% by the wider market. Nevertheless, the sector’s performance over the past 3-year and 5-year periods remains strong.
To collect data for this article, we examined all the companies in the oil refining sector that are listed on NASDAQ and NYSE and then compiled a list of the stocks with the highest upside potential according to Wall Street analysts, as of February 18, 2024.
Why are we interested in the stocks that hedge funds pile into? The reason is simple: our research has shown that we can outperform the market by imitating the top stock picks of the best hedge funds. Our quarterly newsletter’s strategy selects 14 small-cap and large-cap stocks every quarter and has returned 373.4% since May 2014, beating its benchmark by 218 percentage points (see more details here).

Stock Upside Potential: 12.69%
With a presence in more than 130 countries around the world, TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) is a broad energy company that produces and markets energies on a global scale: oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables, and electricity. The company is also actively involved in the refining business and has six refining and petrochemical platforms worldwide.
TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) displayed a better-than-expected performance in Q4 2024 as higher trading profits in the gas segment helped it offset some of the impact of low oil prices and weak fuel demand. The company reported an adjusted net income of $4.4 billion during the quarter, down 15% YoY but still beating market expectations by $200 million. The energy giant also launched several new major projects last year, including Mero 2 and 3 in Brazil, Akpo West in Nigeria, Anchor in the US, and Fenix in Argentina. Moreover, it kicked off four major oil projects in Suriname, Brazil, and Angola, while pushing forward on oil development in Namibia.
Despite the weaker pricing environment, TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) managed to generate $29.9 billion in funds from operations. The company remains committed to its shareholders and distributed $7.4 billion in dividends in 2024, in addition to executing $8 billion in share buybacks. Total increased its 2024 dividend by 7% to 3.22 euros per share, and confirmed share buybacks of $2 billion per quarter for 2025.
TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) also maintains a strong presence in the LNG business and is the largest LNG exporter in the US with more than 10 million tons under contract. Other than signing several new contracts with Azerbaijan, the French firm also launched the Marsa LNG project in Oman, and became a significant gas operator in Malaysia through the acquisition of a 100% stake in SapuraOMV, giving it access to LNG pricing exposure and a platform for future low cost, low carbon growth in terms of production.

“This little ****** rhino orphan has spent the morning in the veldt with her caregiver Lucas,” writes the Sanctuary on their social media page. “As part of her rehabilitation program, RiRi walks daily to the veldt to browse on leaves and shrubs. The goal of successful rehabilitation is to prepare a rhino orphan for rewilding and release back into their natural habitat so encouraging natural eating and browsing behaviors is very important. But the cooler weather has made RiRi particularly playful and so full of energy. Check out her gloriously happy jump at the end!”
It’s the cutest thing.
All About the ****** Rhinoceros
****** rhinos are the smaller of the two rhinoceros species in Africa, and though also critically endangered, have a slightly larger population extant. Despite the name, ****** and white rhinos are actually very similar in color, and their color can vary between individual members of each species. ****** rhinos are more notable for their “hook” lip, which is different from the other species’ square lips.
They live in southern and eastern Africa, and are generally solitary creatures, except for a female rhino and her calf. Calves stay with their mother for about two to four years, so this orphaned rhino is way too young to be out on her own, and needs the assistance of humans if she has any hope of survival.
The Future For Rhinos
Two rhinoceros species have been declared extinct or functionally extinct in this century: the norther white rhinoceros and the western ****** rhinoceros. Though some northern white rhinos still exist under heavy guard, the only two specimens are female and cannot reproduce.
The biggest threat facing rhinos is poaching for their horns, used in a variety of traditional medicines and rituals, especially in East Asia, despite no evidence that it has any beneficial effect. Though many efforts have been made to stop this trade, from levying heavy fines to rewriting herbal medicine manuals in China to remove the ingredient, to even removing horns from living rhinos and poisoning the rhinos horns, only a small treatment of anti-poaching measures are effective. And the rhinos in the wild are still being hunted.

If you liked the Playdate game Root Bear, you should check out Pup Cup
If you liked the Playdate game Root Bear, you should check out Pup Cup
You’ve heard of roguelike, you’ve heard of Soulslike, but have you ever heard of Rootlike? Root Bear is one of those games that just perfectly encapsulates the spirit of ; it’s silly as hell, uses the crank and will engage your competitive side as you rack up tips from soda-drinking bears and try to beat your own high score. The game has been a massive success, so it’s no surprise to see it’s now inspired the development of other games in its style. Well, one game at least. , which recently arrived on the Playdate Catalog from developer Ledbetter Games, is a “Root-like score-chaser” where instead of serving soda to bears, you’re making delicious sweet treats for dogs (and a few other surprise guests).
In Pup Cup, you have 60 seconds to earn as many tail-wags as possible from the dogs who show up to your whipped cream stand. Some might want a towering heap, while others just want a little taste. The key is to fill the pup cup only to the height of the little box hovering over it, or the “Good Boy Zone,” by putting the crank in the forward position. If you serve too much, whipped cream is going to splat all over the place. But too little will leave the dogs disappointed, and who wants that?
There’s also Bork Mode, in which you can **** the dogs and add toppings, like a squeaky rubber duck, to earn yourself some more time. This makes things a little more complicated, though, as you have to pay attention to the D-pad icon that will briefly flash next to the dog in order to know which button to press, and you have to coordinate this correctly with the timing of your pour.
Pup Cup is a feel-good take on Root Bear. The gameplay is a little more relaxed, and it’s hard not to smile at the rotation of cute dogs popping up on your screen. Some of them wear outfits and accessories, and they may end up with a swirl of whipped cream on their nose. Each dog has its own little anxiously waiting animation, and happy customers will give you heart eyes when their orders have been fulfilled. It’s adorably goofy. You might even encounter a or .
As if all that wasn’t wholesome enough, the team also went out and during the Puppy Bowl. You can get Pup Cup on the Playdate Catalog for $3.

Mecha BREAK Open Beta Hits 317,000 Concurrent Players on Its First Day
The Mecha BREAK Open Beta launched earlier today and has already seen over 300,000 concurrent players try the game.
Mecha BREAK see’s players take control of giant mechs in a third-personal multiplayer shooter. The game features three unique game modes filled with high-octane ground and aerial combat.
Announced on February 21, the game will have its first major invitational in China in March, where teams will battle it out for a grand prize.
You can play the open beta on steam for free here.
Insider Gaming’s Scott Robertson recently got hands-on with the game at a behind-the-scenes event, where he sat down with Amazing Seasun Games CEO, Kris Kwok, so keep your eyes peeled on the website for that interview later this week.
“In the aftermath of the Catastrophe, a mysterious carbon-silicon mineral known as Corite has breathed new life into Earth’s depleted energy industry. But its gift came with a curse — its pathogenic nature and uncontrollable spread are slowly devouring the last habitable spaces on the planet. Within 30 years, the heavily polluted Marcens Zones threaten to engulf the entire globe, pushing humanity to the brink of extinction,” the game description reads.
It continues, “Amid the chaos of this catastrophic event, you find yourself thrust into the role of an unlikely hero — a pilot of the third-generation BREAK Striker. Now, you must navigate an uncertain path, one fraught with peril and discovery. But you are not alone. A secretive organization known as S.H.A.D.O.W. has extended an offer, one that could change the fate of both you and the world.”
“Assault, melee, sniper, reconnaissance, support… Choose your preferred mech and take on enemies across three distinct combat modes: 3v3 Deathmatch, 6v6 Hero Shooter, or PvPvE Extraction Shooter.”
Have you played Mecha BREAK yet? What do you think of the game? Let us know in the comments or on the Insider Gaming forum.

Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week: Ibrahima Konate, Bryan Mbeumo, Brennan Johnson, Lewis Miley
Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week: Ibrahima Konate, Bryan Mbeumo, Brennan Johnson, Lewis Miley
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham): He’s been excellent since he left Manchester United, found his feet and got his confidence back. Did a really good job against Arsenal, looked like he was back to his best defensively and offered a bit going forward as well – but defensively he was solid.
Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool): I think it’s his first time in my team of the week. He was a beast, a monster, in the win at Manchester City. I was going to put Virgil van Dijk in but I think I give him too much love, but they were excellent against that City team. Well-marshalled and saying ‘come and break us down if you can’ – but they never did.
Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace): Scored a wonderful header in Palace’s 2-0 win but he was just solid against a really good Fulham team, and he’s been a part of this team that has gone four unbeaten. I think he’s been excellent.
Djed Spence (Tottenham): He scored a deflected shot against Ipswich but it’s more for the weeks of being so consistent when that Spurs team were struggling and loads of players were out. Him and Archie Gray were the two that stood out consistently.
