  2. How long is Monster Hunter Wilds How long is Monster Hunter Wilds Hunters have been preparing meals, sharpening their weapons, and sharing all the best tips and tricks for months waiting for Monster Hunter Wilds to arrive. Now that it has arrived, we’re all ready to gather our friends and hunt down the most epic beasts yet. Fans have come to expect these games to last dozens, if not hundreds, of hours beyond just the main campaign. Going into High Rank hunts, grinding to upgrade gear, and taking on rare species can extend the fun for those who want to dive deep into the systems. But the question remains if Capcom had to scale down this latest entry, at least at launch, to account for all the new systems and improved visuals. Let’s take a break at camp to find out just how long Monster Hunter Wilds is. How long is Monster Hunter Wilds Capcom Determining how long Monster Hunter Wilds is depends on what you consider finishing the game. If reaching the game’s credits is your definition of the end, which comes after beating the main story, then you could expect the game to last anywhere from 15 to 20 hours depending on how many optional quests and hunts you decide to take. However, the main story only lasts through the end of Low Rank, with High Rank being where the game really starts for most players and also includes even more story content. Getting through the High Rank story missions will likely take a total of 40 to 60 or so hours, again depending wildly in how much grinding and optional hunts for more upgrades you are inclined to do. Again, though, finishing the High Rank story doesn’t fully end the game as you can still go on to fight more challenging monsters, forge and upgrade even more gear, and more. We suspect the hardcore hunters can easily put 100 hours into the current version of the game, but that number will only increase as more monsters and event quests are added. 3. Angry Miao claims new gaming mouse offers ‘infinite battery’ — premium tri-mode mouse maker makes dubious claims Angry Miao claims new gaming mouse offers ‘infinite battery’ — premium tri-mode mouse maker makes dubious claims ******** PC gaming peripherals specialist Angry Miao (AM) is vigorously promoting its new Infinity Mouse on social media platforms. Its latest innovation is an ultra-light gaming mouse hewn from metal but weighing under 50g, with premium features and a headlining “infinite battery.” The tri-mode rodent is currently around halfway through a very successful Kickstarter campaign. However, a previously teased infinite battery explainer has missed its advertised Feb 26 reveal, and we will have to wait until March 10 for this important info. Is something amiss? We’ve had a nose around and think a better name for the AM Infinity Mouse would probably be the ‘AM Instant Charging Mouse.’ AM INFINITY MOUSE: Why we do this at the first place – YouTube Watch On The AM Infinity Mouse’s extraordinary battery claim is right there in the name of the product. Thus, it is extremely important that it should live up to the expectations such a moniker brings. AM’s Kickstarter project must surely credit at least part of its rip-roaring success (raised over $71,000 – many multiples of the initial goal) on this ever-enduring battery implication. However, the product summary near the top of the crowdfunder page includes an asterisk beside the “infinite battery life*” claim. Later, you can read that the asterisk warns, “*We are currently fine-tuning some critical features and will continue to share more final details as soon as they become available.” Fine-tuning might be understating the work required, as we are quite sure the finished product won’t come packing an “infinite battery,” unless you accept a very loose definition of such a concept. Image 1 of 2 (Image credit: Angry Miao) (Image credit: Angry Miao) Later on the crowdfunder page, a section about the battery in the AM Infinity Mouse reveals that the designers of this rodent were inspired by the current situation where users “dial down specs for longer battery life.” AM isn’t happy with that compromise, but we get the first hint here that the battery tech will eliminate “the constant worry of recharging.” The firm doesn’t repeat any infinite battery life blurb in this copy. As mentioned in the intro, the Feb 26 reveal of the battery tech was a no-show, and now we’re looking at March 10. For those on tenterhooks, we might have some relief, though. In a Tweet on Friday, an animated GIF seems to give the (battery technology) game away. This new tease appears to indicate that the AM Infinity Mouse should more correctly be named the AM Instant Charging mouse. The tease says that the Infinity Mouse can be charged in just 1.2 seconds. Hey everyone!Stay tuned and find out more about the infinite battery life of INFINITY MOUSE.We will release all the details related in a few days. Stay tuned! The full unveiling of all the specs will be updated on KS at 8 pm on March 10th PDT. pic.twitter.com/1owAR5IK5TFebruary 28, 2025 We might be a little disappointed with AM’s infinite battery marketing shenanigans, but instant charging sounds pretty cool, too, but with the caveat that is an equally questionable claim. However, the thought, attention to detail, and the rest of the mouse specs seem attractive. The mouse design is Lotus sports car inspired, features premium switches, and the PAW3950 sensor offers 8K polling. This is wrapped inside an ergonomically carved magnesium alloy design. Check out the top video for (English subtitled) details on the iterative design work behind the AM Infinity Mouse to find out what you should get for your $150 early bird pledge. Remember that crowdfunding a project is not a guarantee of receiving a finished product. Backing a crowdfunded project is akin to an investment; you believe in the project and want it to succeed. You are not purchasing a retail product. Given the details (or lack thereof) surrounding this project, you should also remember that the end products can also end up not living up to the billing. 5. Serbians chant ‘we deserve better’ as latest anti-corruption protest adds to pressure on Vucic Serbians chant ‘we deserve better’ as latest anti-corruption protest adds to pressure on Vucic NIS, Serbia (AP) — Tens of thousands of people joined protesting students in Serbia for a rally on Saturday against alleged injustice and corruption, many proclaiming “We deserve better.” University students in the Balkan country that has been ruled firmly by a populist government for over a decade have been holding nationwide protests since the fatal train station canopy collapse in November that killed 15 people and which critics blame on government corruption. The almost daily protests regularly draw tens of thousands of people and have rattled President Aleksandar Vucic’s firm grip on power. Vucic has described the protests as a Western-orchestrated attempt to oust him from power. Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories. “We want the (state) institutions that work in the interest of all of us and not to our damage,” the students said in a statement. “We want a system that values knowledge and work, and not obedience and silence.” Protesters from across the country gathered in Nis, some 200 kilometers (120 miles) south of Belgrade, for Saturday’s festival-style rally that was expected to last for 18 hours. Students said the event, during which a decree would be symbolically passed, was “a wakeup call to move from apathy to action, from silence to a noisy struggle for a better future … our pledge never to give up!” With their determination, energy and creativity, the students have garnered widespread support among the citizens who largely have been disillusioned with mainstream politicians and have lost hope of changes. Serbia is formally on the path toward European Union membership, but Vucic and his right-wing Serbian Progressive Party have been accused of stifling democratic freedoms and fueling rampant corruption since coming to power. Residents in Nis staged a noisy welcome for the students on Friday evening as they marched into the city after walking for several days in groups from various directions. ‘This is the place to be today’ These s tudent marches have become a rallying force in Serbia’s rural areas, which are traditionally pro-government. Everywhere students showed up people greeted them with food and refreshments, while many cried and kissed them. “This is the place to be today. There is no place on earth where I belong more than here,” said pensioner Marjan Zivanovic, who came from Belgrade. “Here is love, here is joy, here is everything. Here is the future.” Previously similar rallies were held in Novi Sad and in the central city of Kragujevac. The Nis rally marks four months since the concrete canopy at the central train station in the northern city of Novi Sad collapsed on Nov. 1. 6. Drop CSTM80 Review: Highly, easily customizable Drop CSTM80 Review: Highly, easily customizable Why you can trust Tom’s Hardware Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test. If you’re looking for an easily customizable keyboard but don’t want to build your own, Drop’s aptly named CSTM line has you covered. The CSTM80 is — as you might expect from the name — a mechanical keyboard that’s designed to be customized. Just about everything, from the top plate to the case weight, can be swapped out, and Drop sells additional case plates, switch plates, keycaps, and case weights on its site. The keyboard comes with Gateron Brown Pro 3.0 or Milky Yellow KS3 switches and a polycarbonate top plate, as well as ABS keycaps with shine-through side legends. It’s not designed to be a gaming keyboard, necessarily, but it does boast a 1,000 Hz polling rate and N-key rollover. And its TKL layout is the perfect size for most gamers. The CSTM80 is available now for $149, but you can also pick up a barebones version (no keycaps, switches, or top case) for $99. Design and Construction of the CSTM80 The CSTM80 is a wired mechanical gasket-mount keyboard with a tenkeyless (TKL) layout, which means it has a full function row, arrow keys, and a 3 by 2 navigation cluster. It also has an extra F13 function key, but no rotary knob. Image 1 of 3 (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) The CSTM80 has a polycarbonate case with a decorative magnetic top case. The base keyboard comes with a ****** ABS top case and matching ****** ABS keycaps with shine-through side legends. Drop sells additional top cases in various colors, patterns, and materials, which you can find on their CSTM80 collection page. Drop shipped us a couple of extra top cases to swap out for our review, including the polycarbonate Overgrowth case ($35, currently on ***** for $19) and the aluminum decorative case in silver ($59, currently on ***** for $39). The case is extremely easy to change — it just pops off. The top case fully covers the sides of the keyboard as well. Image 1 of 5 (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) The ****** case that the keyboard comes with is nicely made, if a bit boring, with a half-inch bezel that surrounds the keyboard and a chamfered edge. The keyboard measures 14.7 inches (374mm) wide by 5.8 inches (148mm) deep, and is 1.3 inches (34mm) thick at its thickest point. It weighs about 2.8 pounds (1,272g) with the included ABS top case and keycaps installed, but you can change the weight by adding a heavier top case or replacing the keyboard’s standard aluminum case weight with one of Drop’s custom options (replacing the case weight is slightly trickier than replacing the top case, as you’ll need to unscrew it from inside). Image 1 of 4 (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) The keyboard measures about 0.74 inches (18.7mm) at the front, so it’s high enough that some people might want a wrist rest, though I didn’t feel the need to use one. The board has a typing angle of 6 degrees. Image 1 of 2 (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) The back of the keyboard has four anti-slip rubber feet and a standard silver brushed aluminum keyboard weight, which is replaceable. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) In the box, the CSTM80 comes with a braided USB-C to USB-A cable, a keycap puller, a switch puller, optional Mac keycaps, and extra gaskets. Our review model came with Brown Pro 3.0 switches, which are pre-lubed and have an operating force of 55gf and a total travel distance of 4mm. They have a mild tactile bump and no click, though they’re moderately loud switches — perhaps not ideal if typing in a quieter office environment. The keyboard also has a hot-swappable PCB that accepts both 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches, so you can swap in your favorite switches. The Brown Pro 3.0 switches feel very good, though they’re not quite as tactile as I expect from tactile switches (perhaps I’m just used to the heavier bump of the Glorious Panda Standard HE switches I’ve been using recently on the GMMK 3). Despite the switches’ operating force being slightly heavier than most switches at 55gf, the extra weight wasn’t noticeable. Image 1 of 2 (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) The CSTM80 comes with ****** ABS keycaps with smooth, lightly-curved tops and shine-through side legends. They have a Cherry profile, which means they have sculpted rows and are lower profile than traditional OEM keycaps. The keycaps are very comfortable to type on, and I do like the smooth feel of the ABS tops, though ABS usually means you’ll start seeing shininess in a few months. The shine-through side legends make for an attractive overall look, and while it would be nice to see PBT keycaps, I suppose this keyboard is designed to be customized. The combination of the smooth, low-profile keycaps, the mildly tactile switches, and the gasket mount makes for a very comfortable and pleasant typing experience. The case does have built-in foam and silicone for sound dampening, and it’s a nice sound overall — not the absolute best, but it’s a great-sounding keyboard out of the box, especially with its overall polycarbonate construction. The switches and stabilizers (Gateron ******-in PCB-mounted) are smooth, lubed, and I had no issues with rattle or scratchiness. While this keyboard is designed for typing, it does have a low-latency 1,000 Hz polling rate and N-key rollover — so you’ll have no issues using it for gaming. The switches are very responsive and snappy, perfect for almost all games — though you’ll probably want to look at something with linear switches (perhaps magnetic) if you’re primarily into competitive first-person shooters. Features and Software of the CSTM80 You can configure the CSTM80 using Drop’s Keyboard Configurator, which is not the most user-friendly software. The keyboard is also compatible with QMK / VIA, however, so you can use those to remap keys and adjust the board’s lighting if you’re more familiar with them. Image 1 of 3 (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) To use the Drop Keyboard Configurator, you’ll first need to flash the board with firmware. But this is a fairly simple process and the Configurator will walk you through it. Once the board has been flashed, the software should recognize your keyboard, though I needed to unplug and replug each time I opened the software for this to work. The board comes with three layers of programming (the base layer, a media key layer, and a test layer), and you can remap keys or switch layers around in the software. You can also customize the keyboard’s lighting and link different lighting effects to specific layers. While you can program different layers, there’s no real way to set up different profiles. The Bottom Line The Drop CSTM80 is a very solid keyboard for both typing and gaming, and the easily swappable top case is cooler than I expected — it’s nice to be able to change the look of your keyboard on a whim, without having to remove all of the keycaps (and makes for a much easier cleaning experience). While I don’t use on-keyboard media controls, some people will definitely miss the rotary knob. (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) The CSTM80 isn’t necessarily aimed at gamers, but the 1,000 Hz polling rate and snappy switches make it a great choice for anyone looking for a keyboard that can move seamlessly between work and play. The CSTM80 may not be quite as premium as the Mode Loop TKL (2024), which starts at $299, but it’s a very solid alternative and even easier to make your own. 7. Alphabet’s Taara chip uses light beams to provide high-speed internet Alphabet’s Taara chip uses light beams to provide high-speed internet Alphabet has announced a new development for Taara’s technology that could lead to low-cost, high-speed internet connectivity, even in far-flung locations. Taara’s general manager, Mahesh Krishnaswamy, has introduced the Taara chip, a silicon photonic chip that uses light to transmit high-speed data through the air. The Taara chip is abut the size of a fingernail, far smaller than the technology the Alphabet division has been using. Taara Lightbridge, which is what its first-generation technology is called, is the size of a traffic light and uses a system of mirrors and sensors to physically steer light to where it needs to go. The new chip uses software instead. Taara is a project under X, Alphabet’s moonshot factory. The high speed wireless optical link technology underpinning the project was originally developed for X’s Project Loon internet broadcasting balloons. Alphabet pulled the plug on Loon in 2021 and focused on Taara instead, using its technology to beam broadband across the Congo River and the streets of Nairobi. Even years before Loon shut down, Alphabet’s X was already toying with the idea of using light to beam internet and tested the technology in India. Taara’s technology works by using a “very narrow, invisible light beam to transmit data at speeds as high as 20 gigabits per second, up to distances of 20 kilometers (12.1 miles).” It’s like traditional fiber, in the sense that it uses light to carry data, except that light doesn’t travel through cables. Instead, Taara’s hardware emits beams of light. The beams from two units must be aligned with each other to be able to form a secure link that can transmit data, which is why Lightbridge was fitted with the parts needed to be able to physically steer the light. Taara’s new chip doesn’t need those components: It contains hundreds of tiny light emitters controlled by software with automatic steering Krishnaswamy said Taara’s light-beaming units will only take days to install instead of the months or years it can take to lay fiber. During tests in the lab, the Taara team was able to transmit data at speeds of 10 Gbps over a distance of one kilometer (0.62 miles) using two of the new chips. They’re now looking to improve the chip’s capacity and range by creating an “iteration with thousands of [light] emitters.” The team expects the chip to be available in 2026. 10. I haven’t been this excited about PC gaming in decades – and it’s all thanks to my early time with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 I haven’t been this excited about PC gaming in decades – and it’s all thanks to my early time with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Nvidia’s latest RTX 50-series GPUs have been coming thick and fast (we’ve had the RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti launch in quick succession) – and they’ve been selling out just as quickly – but for many people, the upcoming RTX 5070 will be the most exciting release of the current Blackwell generation. The main reason for this is that while the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are both some of the best GPUs money can buy (if there’s stock) right now, they are also high-end cards aimed at enthusiasts, so they come with high price tags. Meanwhile, the Nvidia RTX 5070 is set to launch at a more affordable $549 / £549 (around AU$880), which as my colleague Christian Guyton points out, is cheaper than the price its predecessor, the RTX 4070, launched at ($599 / £589 / AU$1,109). This lower price instantly makes the RTX 5070 a more appealing purchase to a wider audience, and it’s especially compelling for people who can’t afford (or need) the RTX 5090 or RTX 5080. Another exciting factor is that because the RTX 5070 is using the same Blackwell architecture as its more expensive brethren, it’s able to make use of advanced tech, such as Multi Frame Generation (MFG), which along with DLSS 4, could mean the mid-range RTX 5070 ends up punching well above its weight when it comes to performance. I was particularly excited to test out these features with the RTX 5070, as I found enabling them on the already ultra-powerful RTX 5090 brought seriously impressive, if slightly excessive, results. Hitting over 300fps in Cyberpunk 2077 with all graphical settings set to their highest levels was a real highlight. However, while the advantages of DLSS and MFG offer icing on an already very powerful cake (OK, not the best analogy there, but stick with me) when used with an RTX 5090, their most exciting potential lies with less powerful, more affordable, GPUs like the RTX 5070. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. With these, rather than allowing you to hit framerates worth bragging about (but which you might not really notice in day-to-day gaming), DLSS and MFG are instead closing the performance and quality gap with more expensive cards, and can make intensive graphical settings – such as ray tracing lighting effects – available to gamers who can’t afford the high-end models. (Image credit: Future) Size matters Before getting into the games themselves, I needed to first install the RTX 5070 in a PC – though it was one of the easiest GPU installs I’ve done for a long time, mainly due to the size of the Founder’s Edition. The previous generation of high-end Nvidia GPUs got me used to (but not happy about) huge GPUs. Thankfully that seems to have been reversed this gen, with RTX 50 series GPUs being much smaller than their predecessors. The RTX 5090 is the best example of this. My RTX 4090 is a gigantic bit of tech, taking up 3.5 PCIe slots (just in size, it’s only plugged into a single PCIe slot of the motherboard), and needing to be held up with a GPU support within the PC. Installing it in even a large chassis can be very tricky, and its size means upgrading other components can be frustrating. (Image credit: Future) The RTX 5090, in contrast, is almost half the width, taking up two PCIe slots, a more traditional GPU size, and doesn’t need a GPU support – instantly making it easier to install, and it also means it can be installed in a small form factor (SFF) PC – something you could never do with the 4090. The RTX 5070 FE is even more compact, and its size was particularly noticeable when I installed it in a PC that had an RTX 4080 FE installed. The older GPU is another big beast of a graphics card, so replacing it with the Nvidia RTX 5070 FE meant the insides of the PC weren’t so cramped – not only does it look neater, but crucially it means better airflow within the computer, so components can run cooler for longer. (Image credit: Future) Another element that made the swap easy was that the RTX 5070 FE comes with a 16-pin power connection – so I was able to plug in the 16-pin power cable that had been plugged into the RTX 4080 FE. It only took a few minutes to swap the GPUs. If you don’t already have a 16-pin power connector, the RTX 5070 FE comes with an adaptor that attaches to two standard 8-pin adaptors. Most modern PSUs will come with a 16-pin cable, which will reduce the clutter in your PC’s case. Playing the games With the RTX 5070 quickly fitted, and early drivers installed, I dived into some games. Due to embargo restrictions with this early look, I was limited to certain games – but the good news is that a few were ones I’d usually play and use to test GPUs. First up was Cyberpunk 2077. Despite the game being five years old (how did that happen?!), it is still a graphical showcase, mainly thanks to the constant work developer CD Projekt RED has done on the title throughout the years. It is also often one of the first titles to get support for Nvidia’s latest tech, which is the case here. With DLSS 4 turned on, and MFG set to ‘x4’, which means three frames are generated by AI for every one frame that’s rendered by the GPU for higher framerates, running at 1440p with ray tracing set to Ultra, the game looked great and ran smoothly. Even during high-speed chases where I was racing through Night City while blasting enemies, there wasn’t the slightest pause – an impressive feat for a GPU that’s cheaper than a PS5 Pro (which launched at $699.99 / £699.99 / AU$1,199). (Image credit: CD Projekt Red) I mention Sony’s console as usually when you compare a gaming PC’s performance to a games console, it almost always comes with the caveat that while a PC offers much better performance, it also costs a lot more. With the RTX 5070, that argument isn’t quite as convincing, as the price difference shouldn’t be so stark – yet the performance difference will be clear. And, if you already have a gaming PC and are weighing up a new GPU upgrade or a PS5 Pro, the RTX 5070 looks like it could be the best choice when it comes to both performance and value. While I can’t go into specifics (you’ll need to wait for our full Nvidia RTX 5070 review for that), the frame rates I was getting in Cyberpunk 2077 were very impressive – we’re talking in the high 200s, something a *70 series card wouldn’t have hoped to have hit a few years ago. It also shows that there’s plenty of headroom, so you could increase certain graphics settings and effects, such as increase the resolution, and while the frame rates will drop, and gameplay will still be smooth and responsive. As is usually the case with mid-range GPUs, a bit of tweaking can work wonders and help you maximize performance and graphical quality – and it looks like DLSS 4 and MFG will give you more leeway. (Image credit: Warner Bros) I had a similar experience playing Hogwarts Legacy, again with DLSS 4 and MFG set to 4x. With graphical settings set to Ultra, including ray tracing and running at 1440p, the graphically-ambitious game again felt impressively smooth while playing, even in open environments. While I usually play at 4K (or even at 8K sometimes), 1440p is a very popular resolution, especially for people who the RTX 5070 is aimed at, so it’s very reassuring that the GPU looks like it performs very well at that resolution. From my time doing early gameplay tests with the RTX 5070, it looks like the GPU could also be a good 4K GPU as well. I played Avowed, the recent release from RPG legends Obsidian, at 4K and with its highest graphical settings applied – including ray tracing. (Image credit: Microsoft) Avowed doesn’t currently offer DLSS 4 and MFG within the game settings – but I was able to easily enable them through the Nvidia app. As well as adding these features to games that don’t natively support them – which is a massive bonus already, as it means you shouldn’t have to wait for certain games to get DLSS 4 and MFG support – the app can also automatically set the best graphical options for the game based on your hardware, and lets you keep your drivers up to date. While I, like many PC gamers, prefer to personally tinker with settings to get the best results, it’s a useful tool for people who are less comfortable with changing various settings, and just want to get on and play a game. The results were again very impressive, with some great-looking environments and once again completely smooth gameplay. During a melee combat fight, where timing is everything, the game ran brilliantly. Again, I felt like I was getting the kind of quality and performance that I’d usually get from a much more powerful, and expensive, card. Final thoughts (Image credit: Nvidia) Based on my early time with the RTX 5070 FE, along with the $549 / £549 price tag, I think this is an exciting GPU that will hopefully make modern PC gaming more accessible to people who don’t have the budget for a high-end GPU. It should also help disprove PC gaming’s reputation for being elitist and expensive – and could tempt console owners to make the switch, thanks to the more affordable price and the handy one-click optimizations the Nvidia app offers. AMD, Nvidia’s main GPU competitor, is also set to launch new graphics cards soon, and will again mainly be targeting the mid-range market. The idea of the two GPU giants going head to head to win over budget-conscious gamers, rather than having a simple arms race that values pure performance over anything, price tags be damned, means that 2025 is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting year for PC gamers. Make sure you check out our full review of the RTX 5070 later this month, as we’ll be really digging into the kind of performance you should expect from this GPU and comparing it with similar cards. But for now, it’s certainly looking promising. 11. Cambridgeshire Muslims begin Ramadan, holy month of fasting Cambridgeshire Muslims begin Ramadan, holy month of fasting Shariqua Ahmed BBC News, Peterborough Shariqua Ahmed / BBC The holy month of Ramadan will conclude with Eid-al-Fitr celebrations The holy month of Ramadan has begun with thousands of Muslims across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough taking part. It is the most important time in the Islamic calendar where Muslims fast and refrain from eating or drinking between dawn and sunset. Muslims also believe it is a time for self-reflection and renewing their faith to ******, with giving charity also know as zakat and reciting special evening prayers known as Taraweeh, being an important aspect of the month. The month begins after the sighting of the crescent moon, with most mosques in Cambridgeshire starting their first fast on Saturday, while some are expected to start on Sunday. Open iftars are gaining popularity as positive community events What is Ramadan? During the fast, two meals are eaten – one before the fast begins at dawn known as suhoor and another at sunset known as iftar where families sit together and break their fasts with dates and water. All adults who are well and fit are obligated to fast during Ramadan, with young children, pregnant woman, elderly and sick people exempted. During the holy month, mosques open their doors for iftars most days. Where are iftar events taking place? Cambridge Central Mosque and Khadijah Mosque in Peterborough are among many others opening their doors to ******* worshippers for iftar. Community iftar or open iftar events are gaining popularity as well around the country where people of diverse communities and all faiths join Muslims in breaking their fasts and share a meal. 12. What does your Monster Hunter Wilds weapon say about you? What does your Monster Hunter Wilds weapon say about you? Table of Contents Table of Contents Great Sword Long Sword Switch Axe Light Bowgun Heavy Bowgun Insect Glaive Hunting ***** Charge Blade Sword and Shield Dual Blades Hammer Lance Gunlance Bow Monster Hunter Wilds is finally here and it’s already making a huge impact on Steam. If you’re one of the millions of players jumping in this weekend, we’ve got a lot of guides to get you started, including some basic tips and tricks. But there’s one significant choice that you’ll need to make on your own. You see, the long-running series has a fantastic armory totaling 14 unique kinds of weapons. There are multiple kinds of blades, blunt instruments, and even guns to pick from, and I firmly believe that your signature weapon says a lot about you as a player and as a person. It’s sort of like a horoscope. What does your Monster Hunter Wilds weapon choice say about you? I’m here to help. Great Sword Capcom You won’t find much love from me for the greatsword in Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s a perfectly fine and reliable weapon, but that’s also why it’s the starting choice. It has the easiest of combos attached (mostly consisting of charged attacks) and there is no gimmick or unique feature about it. If you’ve landed on this as your weapon of choice, chances are you just defaulted to it after the tutorial because the anxiety of picking between all the other weapons caused you to freeze up. Call your therapist and get back on the Prozac, kid. Long Sword Capcom Some of the most iconic weapons in gaming, like Sephiroth’s Masamune, are long swords. They are the quintessential armament of the field: excessive, impractical, and remarkably flashy. If you find yourself gravitating towards the long sword in Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s because you — like Sephiroth over there — are probably a bit of a size queen who puts form over function every day. But that’s okay, we don’t judge around here and the long sword’s got all the glitz and glam you could want. Living up to its ostentatious reputation, this weapon is all about fast combos that build up a gauge that lets you amplify your damage and unleash some iconic moves, like sheathing your weapon before slashing at your foe. Just watch where you swing that thing. Switch Axe Capcom As you’re likely beginning to understand, Monster Hunter has an intimidating amount of really cool weapons, which makes it difficult to pick just one. I think that’s why the developers eventually made the greatest weapon of the lot for us indecisive baddies: one weapon that’s secretly two. The Switch Axe’s remarkably simple trick is it’s a big axe that can morph into a ******* blade. Straightforward combos build up a series of smaller gauges that let you whip out the latter form and unleash huge attacks. If you’re someone who struggles deciding on anything, know that the Switch Axe is here to make you look and feel better. Light Bowgun Capcom You picked the light bowgun because you thought that it would be a simple weapon and now it turns out that you were absolutely wrong. ******. The bowguns can be simple if you just want to aim and fire at monsters from a distance, but there’s actually a lot going on under the hood and you’ll feel cooler learning all their tricks. The light bowgun, for example, has two firing modes (a burst fire and an automatic mode) but you need to build a meter with the first one to be able to unload hell with the second one. That meter, which sits above the ammo counter, will slowly fill on its own but it goes faster when you fire the weapon, and can even be sped up by following up every burst with a chaser shot. You can also swap between ammo types (some of which are more limited than others), fire off charged focus shots that look and sound like a grenade launcher, and can even place down a charge that can be blown up multiple times when shot at. But if you’re going to do all of that and keep up with the action, you’ve got to keep an eye on the light bowgun’s multiple ammo counters, and that’s a pretty big challenge. In short, welcome to Monster Hunter, where every weapon is actually homework. Heavy Bowgun Capcom The heavy bowgun is what I’ve dubbed the “dudes rock” weapon. While it is mostly similar to the light bowgun, it sacrifices mobility for some splashier tricks. If you’ve ever wanted to fire a gatling gun at a monster and rattle off a corny one liner or shout “Hell yeah, brother,” this is it for you. Like the light bowgun, the gatling gun firing mode is locked behind a gauge, but you can’t do chaser shots to speed it up with the heavy variant. The heavy bowgun makes up for that sacrifice in two ways: you can hunker down with a guard function while you wait and the gatling fire mode comes with a charged fire blast. So despite the fact that you’re much slower in exchange for that power, if your Roman Empire is the image of Mifune in The Matrix Revolutions making a last stand in his Gatling gun-strapped mech suit, this is where you need to be. Insect Glaive Capcom The insect glaive is a sick weapon. It’s also a scam. To love it is to be a masochist who truly hates themselves and never knows peace. To be entirely transparent, the insect glaive is my go-to weapon, and I love using it to pole vault over enemies and do a bunch of mid-air dashes and acrobatics. However, you will, as I have, become quite accustomed to spending as much time in the air as you spend face down on the ground after being knocked back by a monster in the middle of your attack. There’s also the “insect” of it all, where you need to use a large bug called a Kinsect to aim at specific points on a monster to extract and bring back certain colors of power to the player to unlock buffs and entirely new movesets, but this requires constant maintenance. Wilds cuts down on some of that upkeep, but it hasn’t completely erased it. This all sounds like a lot, I know, but if you’re drawn to this weapon like I am, you’ve never done things in life the easy way. Why start now? Hunting ***** Capcom If you’ve decided to rock the Hunting *****, thank you for your service. You’re obviously a people pleaser and fellow support main who wound up in that position because everyone else on your team instalocked the DPS characters and there was no healing. You take out the frustration brought on by that situation by wielding the Hunting *****, which can be swung at enemies for damage, all the while stocking up notes and melodies, which you then perform to buff yourself and allies. Along the way, you realized that your friends really are your power, but you don’t say that aloud for fear of being mocked. You’re obviously a current or retired band kid, and it shows. You know your role in the group, and execute on it a high level to make everyone around you look and feel better. You’re also clinically insane for undertaking such a complex role and bearing it with a grin. Please look out for yourself, but play that funky ***** before you do. Charge Blade Capcom You probably shouldn’t pick up the charge blade first thing, but you’re likely going to. How do I know that? Because it’s got a move that turns it into the whirligig saw from Bloodborne. The Charge Blade is very similar to the Switch Axe in that they’re both transforming weapons, but the Charge Blade has significantly more going on. For one, there are three components rather than two, and having to learn what a phial is, let alone the best possible use of these phials, like elemental discharges, is way more involved than you probably care for. But something tells me you’ve likely never shied away from a challenge, even though you always fail at them, and then bemoan the fact that “no one told you not to do it.” This is me trying to help you. Sword and Shield Capcom Let me paint you a picture. You’ve just downloaded the latest RPG you’re going to devote the next 100 hours of your life to. You excitedly boot it up, stare in awe at the incredibly hype opening of the game, and you jump right in. That excitement dissipates the second you hit a character creator though, and because you want to get to the game as quickly as possible, you make the most plain character ever. Your Mass Effect Shepard is the default guy, and you always pick a warrior type in every single one of these games. This is the life of a sword and shield player in Monster Hunter Wilds and I can begrudgingly respect it. Dual Blades Capcom If you’re leaning towards the dual blades, you’ve done the math and figured two swords are better than one. There’s a pretty good chance you instalock Wolverine in Marvel Rivals and your favorite fictional character is noted speed ****** Sonic the Hedgehog. The dual blades, as is common in fantasy RPGs, are for roguish warriors who want to get in, do a lot of damage, and quickly get back out. Monster Hunter‘s dual blades fulfill that very urge, and even encourage you to go wild with a ****** Mode that buffs the speed and damage of your attacks. So yeah man, go nuts. Hammer Capcom The hammer is as blunt a weapon as you’re gonna find in the whole set and because of that, it’s actually one of the best weapons you could possibly bring on a hunt. All that blunt weapon damage means that the hammer excels at stunning enemies, knocking those giants down and opening them up to a slew of attacks. It also has an unbelievably funny charge attack that involves wildly swinging the hammer to wind up a powerful finishing blow. The hammer is a very domineering weapon, and it needs a really deft hand and a will strong enough to kill God in order to get the most out of it. You’ve got to view everything and everyone as a problem (or nail) to be solved (hammered), which might make you a bit of a thorny person to be around. You find it hard to relate to and connect with others, but your presence inevitably brings up the competence of the group. You are Asuka Langley Soryu from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Lance Capcom There’s a lot to learn about the lance, which has a number of charge attacks and guard mechanics that come with the territory. After all, the kit consists of a giant lance and a similarly huge shield, you know what you’re getting into here. But you’re really only into this weapon because you want to run enemies through with the biggest weapon possible. Your lifelong fantasy has been to joust, and now that you have a reliable mount in the form of a Seikret and can don some fancy armor carved from the skin of your foes, the last part of your 12-step plan has locked into place. Gunlance Capcom I know what you are. You’re one of these freaks that loves the critically acclaimed (or reviled, depending on who you’re talking to) RPG Final Fantasy VIII. You experienced the high of swinging the gunblade at an unsuspecting enemy and pulling the trigger at the right time to fire it at the same time, multiplying your damage. You’ve been chasing that high ever since, and now Monster Hunter Wilds has got your back. The Gunlance (as the name might give away) allows you to poke and prod enemies while also letting off explosive blasts. Fortunately, you can “shell” enemies at almost any given point in a combo, Bow Capcom The bow is one of the most well worn fantasy tropes out there. From Artemis to Hawkeye, there’s no shortage of fictional characters who have come to define what it means to be a archer in tremendous style. They shoot with flair, as well as a few trick arrows, and they always nail their mark. If you’re picking the bow in Monster Hunter Wilds, chances are you’re trying to replicate the style of these very same marksmen, and if I were a betting man, I’d wager it’s Legolas. What the bow lacks in dynamism, it makes up for with style, specifically the sauce of the famous elven ranger going band for band with Gimli at the Battle of Helm’s Deep. Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Source link #Monster #Hunter #Wilds #weapon Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

Morgan Stanley top stocks with more room to run Morgan Stanley top stocks with more room to run Morgan Stanley recently called out a few overweight-rated stocks that could have room to run after quarterly earnings. Companies like Robinhood are firing on all cylinders and are worth buying now, the firm’s analysts said. Other stocks include Toast , Cummins and Seagate Technology. Cummins Analyst Angel Castillo is standing by shares of top pick Cummins following the company’s fourth-quarter earnings report. The industrial engine company is well positioned after “another better than expected quarter and guide,” the analyst said. Castillo also said that Cummins has an “ample runway for margin expansion and top line growth setting up another year of beat and raises.” Cummins’ engine segment and power generation outlook also have plenty of room for growth, the analyst added. “We think the guide was conservative and continue to see material upside from here,” Castillo said. Cummins’ shares are up 36% in the past year. Robinhood In February, Robinhood reported a solid earnings beat for the fourth quarter. Now, Morgan Stanley is doubling down on shares of trading platform. Analyst Michael Cyprys said he has “increased conviction in HOOD’s growth path ahead,” following the quarterly report. Further, he said, Robinhood “provided greater clarity around the 2025 product roadmap and strategic initiatives.” Cyprys also said that deregulation will lead to a ******* opportunity in crypto for the company. He sees a “catalyst-rich path as HOOD gains traction with new initiatives and launches new products.” Shares are up 210% over the past 12 months. Toast Morgan Stanley recently named the restaurant payment tech company a new top pick following its robust fourth-quarter earnings report on Feb. 19. “Consistent and strong execution against a broader opportunity yields a new, *******, better bull case,” analyst Josh Baer wrote. In addition, the firm said Toast has a long runway for growth in a variety of areas, including international expansion. “There is enough evidence of Toast making early progress in newer growth markets to envision a Bull Case future where Toast replicates the success it has had in its core US SMB [small and mid-sized business] restaurant market,” he wrote. Shares are up about 70% in the past year. “With momentum well intact across growth vectors, a new bull case fully forms,” he said. Cummins “Another better than expected quarter and guide. 16. How to convert Chrono Tokens into Units in Marvel Rivals How to convert Chrono Tokens into Units in Marvel Rivals Marvel Rivals, a superhero showdown from NetEase Games has swept the gaming world since its December 2024 release, combining intense PVP action with a complex cosmetic economy. A trio of currencies—Lattice, Units, and Chrono Tokens—are central to its appeal, with each fuelling different aspects of the player experience. Lattice, the premium currency, is acquired with real money and starts from $0.99 for 100 Lattice. It serves as the entrance to unique skins and bundles. Units, the blue-coin staple, may be earned during gameplay or converted from Lattice at a 1:1 ratio to fuel in-game purchases such as character skins and emotes. Chrono Tokens, the purple lightning currency, are closely linked to the Battle Pass, awarding players with free and premium cosmetics as they complete daily missions and challenges. This multi-currency system strikes a compromise between accessibility for free-to-play users and appealing options for spenders, keeping the community active. As Season 1, Eternal Night Falls, nears its finale, NetEase has released a game-changing update in February 2025 where players can now convert surplus Chrono Tokens into Units after completing the Battle Pass. Here’s how it works. How does Chrono Tokens to Units conversion work in Marvel Rivals NetEase Games In Marvel Rivals, you can turn Chrono Tokens into Units if you have the Luxury Battle Pass and complete all of its rewards. This feature, which was introduced with the Season 1.5 update, allows players to trade in their extra Chrono Tokens, which they earn from daily missions and challenges, for Units, which can be used to purchase cosmetics in the store. From the main screen, navigate to the Battle Pass menu, where a last screen with the option to convert appears when you’ve unlocked all rewards. Assuming you have sufficient Chrono Tokens, you can convert them at any moment for 100 Units at a rate of 1,000 to 1. Unused Chrono Tokens do not carry over to the next season so instead, you can redeem them here before the season ends on April 2025, after completing daily missions (for 30 tokens each) and some tougher challenges (worth 80 tokens). Take 5,000 Chrono Tokens as an example. You’ll get 500 Units, which is plenty for low prices cosmetics. However, you’ll need 1,600 Units for premium skins. This is not accessible to free-tier players, rather it is reserved for those who have purchased the Luxury Battle Pass (990 Lattice, around $9.99). Now that you know, maximize your Units for Season 1’s store offers by planning your grinding early on. 18. FIFA meets Silent Hill in Steam Next Fest’s most unhinged demo FIFA meets Silent Hill in Steam Next Fest’s most unhinged demo Steam Next Fest is in full swing and there’s no shortage of great game demos you can try out for free. We’ve been keeping track of the best Steam Next Fest demos and doing deep dives into games like Skin Deep and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown throughout the week. If you’ve been following along with us so far, you probably have a full wishlist by this point. But with Steam Next Fest winding down in just a few days, this is the part of the event where I’m going to let you in on the sicko stuff. You know what I mean: the kind of forbidden goods that are locked away behind the counter. If you want to get really weird before Next Fest ends, let me introduce you to Fear Fa 98. I don’t think there’s ever been a video game sales pitch that’s as easy to write and difficult to describe, but here goes: Fear Fa 98 is Silent Hill meets FIFA 98. That’s the kind of sentence that should make you say “that makes sense,” pause a moment, and then say “wait, what?” I will say it one more time so you know you didn’t hallucinate it: Fear Fa 98 is Silent Hill meets FIFA 98. FEAR FA 98 – GDC 2025 Gameplay Trailer A passion project from solo developer Jacob Jazz, Fear Fa 98 is the unholy union of the arcade sports games of yesteryear and PS1 horror games. Imagine NFL Blitz with demons and you’re mostly there. The demo offers a very early look at the concept and warns players that it’s just a rough teaser, but it’s just bizarre enough to warrant a try before Steam Next Fest ends. The basics are easy enough to grasp. It’s a fast-paced soccer game where I pass the ball between teammates, run across the field, and shoot to score goals. The only difference is … well, okay, there are a lot of differences. For one, my team is comprised of zombies and occult monsters who shamble around a field covered in pentagrams and flame. They bark out canned one-liners along the lines of “You’re gonna die!” while an original song that belts out the game’s title soundtracks the match. I can occasionally pick up power-ups around the field that trigger slow-motion time vortexes or give my creature a burst of speed. Also, sometimes players’ heads get cut off. That’s probably important to mention too. Cedlery Emblem While the demo does indeed feel very early, I already appreciate what Fear Fa 98 is going for. It feels like the kind of forgotten bargain bin game that a major studio would have released in the late 90s. This would have been the kind of commercial flop that became a cult classic among kids because there one friend had a copy of it that an out of the loop relative bought for them. It’s like when I played the crap out of Criticom on PS1 as a kid because my godmother gifted it to me after buying a game at random. I loved it and assumed it was a big game everyone knew. I only discovered as an adult that it was a critically panned fighting game at the time (IGN gave it a 3/10 in 1996). It has since been forgotten to time, making it feel like a secret that only I know about. That’s kind of the vibe I get when trying Fear Fa 98, and I mean that in a good way. It really captures the spirit of games from the industry’s Wild West era, before every big budget release was an enormous undertaking engineered to be a multi-million dollar success. It’s just a goofy elevator pitch that’s authentically janky and ultraviolent for no reason. That’s exactly the kind of game I probably would have owned as a kid, and one I still yearn to own now. 21. ‘It was beyond anything we had expected’ ‘It was beyond anything we had expected’ Even if you’re a well-trained scientist, sometimes you see something that leaves you breathless. For a team of ecology researchers, the February 2024 sighting of a spotted hyena in southeastern Egypt prompted them to comb through the history books. The large carnivore had not been spotted in the region for the last few thousand years. The event was documented in an article in Mammalia, a bimonthly publication dedicated to the analysis of mammalian diversity. The sighting happened just 30 kilometers, or 19 miles, from the Sudan border — but over 300 miles from the hyena’s well-known habitat range. Unfortunately, the spotted hyena was tracked down and killed by a band of locals who were concerned about the animal’s presence. The spotted hyena is reported to have killed two goats in Wadi Yahmib, which is located in the Elba Protected Area. According to the locals, each of the goat attacks occurred at night. After being killed, the spotted hyena was recorded and photographed. Its carcass was left for scavengers to eat. According to Abdullah Nagy of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, lead author of the article, the sighting originally left him skeptical. “My first reaction was disbelief until I checked the photos and videos of the remains,” Nagy said. “Seeing the evidence, I was completely taken aback. It was beyond anything we had expected to find in Egypt.” Watch now: Giant snails invading New York City? Once the shock wore off, the team of researchers got to work to determine why the spotted hyena had ventured so far from its normal habitat. They theorized that a particularly rainy weather cycle that promoted plant growth in a typically arid region could have been the cause. This increase in vegetation may have encouraged the spotted hyena to make a journey to stalk prey feeding on the vegetation. The research team also speculated that the emergence of the spotted hyena in southeastern Egypt could disrupt the balance of the food chain. If more spotted hyenas trek there, they would likely become the apex predators, which could wreak havoc on livestock. This would do untold financial damage to the local economy. Despite this threat, the research team believes that human interaction will be enough to prevent the spotted hyenas from becoming established. How to play Strands You start every Strands puzzle with the goal of finding the “theme words” hidden in the grid of letters. Manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to craft words; double-tap the final letter to confirm. If you find the correct word, the letters will be highlighted blue and will no longer be selectable. If you find a word that isn’t a theme word, it still helps! For every three non-theme words you find that are at least four letters long, you’ll get a hint — the letters of one of the theme words will be revealed and you’ll just have to unscramble it. Every single letter on the grid is used to spell out the theme words and there is no overlap. Every letter will be used once, and only once. 23. Vistra AI shares are fading as investors await a data center deal Vistra AI shares are fading as investors await a data center deal Investors are questioning the artificial intelligence trade that sent power stocks soaring last year, as the company viewed as best positioned to strike a data center deal still has not signed an agreement. Vistra Corp. was a darling of the S & P 500 in 2024, more than tripling in value to become one of the best performing stocks as investors expected the company’s nuclear and gas assets to benefit from the growing power demand of data centers. But Vistra’s stock fell more than 11% this week. Management was unable to tell shareholders the prospects for a near-term deal on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call Thursday. Investor confidence in the Dallas-area company is fraying, Jefferies analyst Julien Dumoulin-Smith told clients in a note on Thursday. It has been nearly a year since Talen Energy touched off a race for power industry to secure deals with tech companies, after Amazon purchased a data center powered by the Susquehanna nuclear plant in Pennsylvania owned by Talen. The market has waited with growing impatience for Vistra to make a similar announcement, focusing on its nuclear assets such as the Comanche Peak plant outside Forth Worth, Texas. VST 1Y mountain Vistra, 1 year Vistra’s failure to secure a data center deal comes at a time when investors are already questioning how much power data centers will really consume. China’s DeepSeek AI laboratory rattled the market in late January, leading investors to worry that its R1 model may be cheaper and more energy efficient than U.S. competitors. Vistra shares tumbled more than 20% in February. Talen Energy has also cooled off, falling 5% this week and more than 6% in February after tripling in value in 2024. Jefferies still has the equivalent of a buy rating on Vistra with a price target of $167, suggesting 25% upside from Friday’s close. Street analysts are also bullish on Vistra with an average price target of $191, indicating 43% upside. ‘Clearly getting anxious’ Vistra CEO Jim Burke acknowledged investors’ frustration on the fourth quarter earnings call. The company is facing regulatory uncertainty on data center deals in the Texas and the PJM market that covers 13 states stretching from the Mid-Atlantic to the Midwest, Burke said. Vistra is in talks with regulators and communities who are worried about how locating data centers next to power plants will affect the electric grid, Burke said. These deals are complex and Vistra is focused on “putting points on the board” by striking a definitive agreement to boost shareholder confidence, the CEO said. “And that’s just not where we are yet on these deals, but we’re working hard to get there,” the CEO told investors on the earnings call. Burke, who’s worked at Vistra and its predecessor for 21 years, remains bullish on electric demand, with load growth diversified across industries. The Tulane graduate said AI data centers are “only one aspect of the growth” outlook, acknowledging investor anxiety over future demand. ****** Storozynski, analyst at Seaport Global Securities, pressed Burke on why discussions with regulators are still unresolved nearly a year after Talen’s Amazon announcement. The CEO said he was disappointed that talks had not progressed further. Talen ‘s deal with Amazon ran into trouble after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rejected a request to increase the amount of power dispatched from the Susquehanna nuclear plant to the Amazon data center. At the time, the FERC decision sent power stocks tumbling. But Talen CEO Mac McFarland maintained during his own company’s fourth-quarter earnings call this week that the U.S. is in the “early innings of the AI *****.” “That demand is going to possibly move around. But the demand is there. We are seeing no signs of slowing,” McFarland said. The Amazon data center campus is moving “full steam ahead” with the 300 megawatts that Susquehanna is allowed to deliver. Storozynski also pushed Talen CEO Mac McFarland on why his company has not announced any deals beyond the Amazon agreement: “We’re clearly getting anxious,” the analyst said on the earnings call held with analysts and shareholders. McFarland said the absence of new deals across the industry is not a sign of waning demand. “There is an appetite and it will take time” to reach agreements, the CEO said. Data center developers’ interest in natural gas is growing as nuclear deals face scrutiny from regulators, he added. “Gas deals are what’s going to fill the gap,” he said. Nuclear power deals “have the carbon-free aspect them, but gas is going to have to fill the gap.” Wall Street analysts have an average price target of $270 on the Houston-based power provider, implying 30% upside from Talen’s close Friday.
