Goals from supersub Adrian Segecic and Patryk Klimala helped Ufuk Talay’s side secure victory in front of 8002 at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday. Sydney moved into sixth with the result but could slip out of the finals places depending on the outcome of Sunday’s clash between Western Sydney Wanderers and Perth Glory. The meeting between Macarthur and Sydney shaped as potentially season-defining for both clubs but the home side could not lay a glove on the Sky Blues. Germain’s replacement up front, Harrison Sawyer, struggled to make an impact with limited service in a lifeless first 45 minutes. The second half began with much greater intensity, Macarthur goalkeeper Filip Kurto doing fantastically well to palm two shots from Sydney’s star import Douglas Costa away in the space of 90 seconds. Costa also rattled the crossbar but the Bulls failed to heed the warning with Joe Lolley slipping a well-timed ball into the path of Klimala who fired beyond Kurto’s reach in the 58th minute. Any hope Macarthur had of getting back into the contest quickly evaporated when Kurto passed a goal-kick to mid-season signing Kevin Boli. The defender hesitated at the back and a quick-thinking Segecic was hot on his tail. Boli fluffed his clearance and Segecic was able to turn the ball back into the Macarthur net for his eighth ALM goal of the campaign. Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) made history when it peaked near $125 per share on Feb. 18, achieving an unprecedented valuation of 61 times forward sales. The stock at that point had skyrocketed 625% since January 2024, making it the best-performing member of the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) during that ******* by a wide margin. However, disappointing economic data and concerns about tariffs set to take effect in early March have since rattled Wall Street. Palantir has tumbled 32% from its record high in the past week amid a drawdown in the broader market, and history says the stock has further to fall. Palantir made history on Feb. 18 when its forward price-to-sales (P/S) multiple reached 61. That valuation ratio is calculated by dividing the current market capitalization by forecast sales over the next four quarters. Put differently, the forward P/S ratio quantifies the current share price as a function of anticipated future revenue. And 61 times forward sales is absurdly expensive. Not surprisingly, certain Wall Street analysts have been sounding the alarm for months. For instance, Gil Luria at D.A. Davidson in November said Palantir traded at an “unprecedented premium” to its software peers. And Brent Thill at Jefferies in February told CNBC no other stock has a valuation remotely close to Palantir. “We’ve never seen a multiple like this,” he said. My own research led to a similar conclusion. I considered the forward P/S ratio of more than 50 software stocks in the last decade. To my knowledge, Palantir is one of two companies to attain a valuation above 60 times forward sales, and one of only four companies to top 50 times forward sales during that *******: SoundHound AI traded at 63 times forward sales in May 2022. It declined 96% by January 2023. Snowflake traded at 60 times forward sales in November 2021. It declined 73% by September 2024. Serve Robotics traded at 59 times forward sales in December 2024. It declined 62% by February 2025. As mentioned, every software stock that topped 50 times forward sales during the past decade eventually fell at least 62% after attaining its peak valuation. And the average peak-to-trough decline was 77%. Also noteworthy is that all three stocks listed are still down at least 55% from their record highs. As mentioned, Palantir has declined 32% from its record high in the last seven trading days, but the statistics suggest the stock still has a long way to fall. For instance, if Palantir suffers a peak-to-trough decline of 77% (the average among the three stocks listed above), that would drag its price below $29 per share. More importantly, even if Palantir suffers a massive ****** in the near future, it could still be a rewarding long-term investment from its current price. Indeed, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives says Palantir could be a trillion-dollar company in the future. Here’s how that could happen: If Palantir’s revenue increases at 30% annually over the next decade, it would report about $40 billion in sales in 2035. Meanwhile, if the stock traded at a pricey (but not absurdly pricey) valuation of 25 times sales at the end of that *******, Palantir would be worth $1 trillion. That implies 400% upside from its current market value of $200 billion. Admittedly, I made several aggressive assumptions in my hypothetical example. As a result, the most prudent course of action would be to avoid Palantir stock until it trades at a much cheaper valuation. However, current shareholders with a long time horizon could still see solid returns over the next decade if the company continues to execute. The month of dawn-to-dusk fasting drew crowds into the mosques, and streets were festooned with colorful lanterns typical of the season. But an enormous gap stretches between the happy holiday memories of a seemingly irrecoverable past and the desolation and grief left by the 15-month war in Gaza. The daytime fasting began on Saturday, but many Palestinians in the territory see little to celebrate. Maisa Arafa, 29, who said that her brother had been killed during the war, has been living in a tent with other relatives as they clear away rubble from their devastated home in northern Gaza in hopes of moving into one room that is still intact. “More than anything, I wish my brother could come back. That would be the only thing to make Ramadan feel like it used to,” Ms. Arafa said as she shopped in downtown Gaza City. “This is not the Ramadan we knew, or even the life we knew.” Since the Israel-****** cease-fire went into effect in mid-January, hundreds of truckloads per day of food and other supplies have been entering the enclave, offering a degree of relief from the intense hunger many felt during the war. Abdelhalim Awad, who oversees a bakery and supermarket in central Gaza, said that prices had dropped since the worst days of the war, when a 55-pound sack of flour could cost hundreds of dollars. “Goods are now available,” Mr. Awad said as he watched holiday shoppers come and go, buying what they could for communal meals to break the fast at night. “But people are still only able to buy what they really need.” The war began after the ******-led assault on southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killed about 1,200 people and saw some 250 others taken back to Gaza as hostages. The subsequent Israeli military campaign laid waste to large swaths of the Gaza Strip. Many are still displaced or have returned to their homes only to find them ruined by the fighting. The Israeli campaign killed more than 48,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children, according to local health officials who do not distinguish between civilians and combatants. Brookside star Philip Foster jailed for modelling fraud Brookside star Philip Foster jailed for modelling fraud National Trading Standards Philip Foster played Christian Wright in the Merseyside TV soap A former Brookside actor who masterminded a £13.6million fraud operation that conned thousands of would-be models has been jailed. Philip Foster, 49, who played Christian Wright in the Liverpool soap, ran a network of fake modelling agencies for more than eight years. Foster, who lived in Marbella, Spain, was given an eight-and-a-half-year prison sentence at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday for conspiracy to defraud. Eight other people were sentenced in relation to the fraud and an arrest warrant was issued for Foster and an associate after both failed to appear in court. More than 6,000 victims parted with money on the false promise of securing paid modelling work from Foster, whose address was given as Chermside Road, Liverpool, but who operated from his base in Spain. He used a network of associates in England to operate a string of sham modelling agencies and photography studios in cities including London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Coventry and Nottingham. The scam was uncovered in a six-year investigation by National Trading Standards (NTS). After sentencing, NTS chairman Lord Bichard said Foster’s “cruel exploits left thousands of victims in serious debt, causing lasting emotional distress and significant financial pressures”. Payday loans Victims first received emails telling them they had potential after they responded to a social media advertising campaign. They were invited to a “free” test shoot at a photographic studio where they were handed glossy brochures and told they had passed their studio test, but would need to buy a portfolio of images for the modelling agencies who were interested in them. Some victims used credit deals arranged by the fraudsters or expensive payday loans to make the upfront payment. In return, they got poor quality digital photographs which stood no real chance of landing them professional jobs and most did not get paid modelling work. National Trading Standards (NTS) Eight other defendants received jail terms or suspended prison sentences The sham agencies, which paid no tax, existed for short periods before being dissolved and rebranded. Money from the scam was laundered through *** bank accounts before being transferred to Spain, or carried in cash on commercial flights by co-conspirators, the NTS said. North Yorkshire councillor Greg White said: “Foster and his fellow scammers cruelly exploited young hopefuls trying to break into one of the most competitive industries. “In some cases, parents borrowed money or sacrificed savings believing they were investing in their children’s futures.” Foster bought high-end watches and cars with his share of the proceeds, while many victims told NTS investigators they had been left financially and emotionally devastated and felt humiliated and betrayed. Some experienced lasting distress that affected their confidence, wellbeing and ability to trust others, the court heard. These buffs are designed to enhance various combat abilities, such as boosting damage, improving mobility, or offering other combat-related advantages. One of the shrines is Conduit, which transforms the players into a ball of lightning, zapping enemies in close proximity. With the player constantly emitting lightning, it sounds powerful, right? But it is far from that and is only usable at the early stages (as it doesn’t scale with player level). That’s why players have been asking the developers to buff it significantly or remove it completely. It seems that Blizzard has finally heard the players’ call for change. In the upcoming patch scheduled for March 4, the Conduit Shrines will undergo a significant overhaul. The most important change is that the shrine will now scale its effects with the player’s level and Paragon level. This means that the shrine will no longer feel like static electricity making your hair stand up. Instead, its effectiveness will aggressively scale with the player’s progress throughout the game, turning it into real lightning bolts. Are fixes to Conduit Shrines actually needed? There’s little doubt that Vladimir Putin will have enjoyed the “show”, the dramatic spectacle of Volodymyr Zelensky, leader of the country President Putin invaded, being berated by the president and vice-president of the United States in front of the world’s media. Some Russian officials have commented, though, on events in Washington. In a post on social media, former president Dmitry Medvedev, now deputy head of the Russian security council, wrote that President Zelensky had received “a slap down in the Oval Office”. He called on the US to stop military assistance to Ukraine. How Moscow would welcome that. Writing on Telegram, foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova praised Trump and JD Vance for their “miracle of restraint” at not hitting Ukraine’s president. It’s a sign of the new world in which we seem to be now that, while US-Ukraine relations are at risk of implosion, the opposite is true for US-Russia ties. In recent weeks, Trump and Putin have spoken on the phone and pledged to work closely together; there’s talk of a possible summit sometime soon; lower-level US-Russia talks to reset relations and discuss potential economic cooperation have already started. President Putin has dangled the carrot of lucrative joint projects with the Americans involving rare earth minerals and aluminium production. The implications of a breakdown in relations between Ukraine and the US are potentially very serious for Kyiv, but very positive for Moscow. If the flow of American weapons to Ukraine were to stop, it would be much harder for Ukrainians to defend themselves against the Russian forces who have invaded their country, even if Ukraine enjoys solidarity and strong support from European leaders. For some time now, Moscow has believed that the war in Ukraine has been going Russia’s way. The shouting-match in the Oval Office will have cemented that view. Chief isn’t just a character, he’s a feeling, an empty vessel for us to inject our heroism, head canons, and maybe even a little bit of our daily frustrations into. He’s basically gaming’s coolest blank canvas. Halo Infinite | Credits: 343 Industries Then came Halo 5. And oh boy, did 343 Industries decide to take a risk. Instead of just letting us be Chief, they decided we should step into the armored boots of other Spartans, Spartans who actually have personalities. Spartans who talk a lot. Spartans who… well, aren’t Chief. And that’s where things went sideways. The problem with Halo 5 according to Frank O’Connor Chief in Halo 5: Guardians | Credits: 343 Industries Halo 5 threw us into the perspective of not just one, but eight different Spartans, splitting the game’s focus between two teams, Fireteam Osiris, led by Agent Jameson Locke, and Blue Team, featuring Master Chief and his longtime pals. Buddies who spoke in full sentences. Buddies who had emotions. Buddies who reminded us they exist. For many fans, this was an outright betrayal. Chief wasn’t supposed to be a guy with interpersonal relationships and a sense of camaraderie. Chief was you, the lone, silent hero who just so happened to have the firepower to take on entire alien armies solo. When you suddenly have a squad of chatty teammates, it stops being just your story. Frank O’Connor spoke to Time, he commented on this issue by saying, I think the difference in Halo 5 is that there are eight people you have to do that with, and for them to not simply be clones of the Chief moving around in that space, we had to properly characterize them. And that meant, because it ends up being more of a social experience, we had to make sure that the characters were actually reflecting each other and not simply ignoring each other. That said, this is a long running issue we’ve had with the Chief. Over the years, people have grafted their own feelings about the Chief onto the Chief. And sometimes that’s meant, like in your case, holding him as a sort of paragon of useful emptiness. And I think that’s a completely fair way to approach this character. Trying to replace a character with 14 years of built-up fan love with a dude we barely knew was a bold choice. Kind of like swapping out your main course for a surprise dish you didn’t order, except the restaurant is on fire, and your waiter is screaming about how great the new dish is. Suddenly, he was being given depth, relationships, and a personality. This was problematic for fans who had spent years projecting their own version of Chief into the void of his helmet. This wasn’t just an action game anymore, it was a character-driven drama. But here’s the kicker, some fans wanted that. People who had devoured Halo’s extended universe, from the books to the animated shorts, had already built an emotional framework for Chief. They liked the idea of him having depth. They wanted to see his humanity. The problem? Those two camps, the “Chief is a blank slate” group and the “Chief should have a personality” group, are fundamentally opposed to each other. And Halo 5, for better or worse, picked a side. The result? A lot of confused, frustrated players who just wanted to be the Chief they had always imagined. 3 Reasons to Buy Axon Enterprise Stock Now 3 Reasons to Buy Axon Enterprise Stock Now Shares of Axon Enterprise (NASDAQ: AXON) were soaring again recently after the leading law enforcement technology company delivered another strong earnings report. Axon, which makes TASER stun guns and body cameras, posted its third straight year with revenue growth of greater than 30%. In the fourth quarter, revenue jumped 34% to $575.1 million, beating the consensus of $566 million, and its margins continued to expand as it earned more money from its high-margin software business. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) jumped 56% to $142 million. Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) earnings per share of $1.67 topped estimates of $1.40. While those numbers were impressive, looking beyond the headlines offers the best evidence for why Axon can continue to shine. Here are three reasons why the stock can keep climbing higher. Image source: Axon. Bookings are key for any software company, as they’re a leading indicator of revenue. Software companies sell subscriptions, booking contracts up front, and then record the resulting revenue monthly over the length of the contract. In 2024, Axon recorded more than $5 billion in annual bookings, bringing contracted bookings to $10.1 billion. It brought in revenue of $2.1 billion in 2024, so its pipeline of revenue represents nearly five years’ worth of total revenue right now, which is huge, and shows that the company has booked high-value, long-term contracts. Axon is a combined hardware and software business. It now has annual recurring revenue of $1 billion, which is primarily from its cloud products, meaning that its bookings backlog represents 10 years of recurring revenue at the current level. That’s a great indicator of future growth and future demand. Axon’s strength in law enforcement is clear as it’s built a solid customer base across state and local law enforcement, federal agencies, and international law enforcement. However, the company sees an opportunity to expand beyond law enforcement into the private sector, tapping into the enterprise market. In 2024, the company said it recorded its largest deal ever, coming from an enterprise customer. Axon didn’t name the customer, but it did say on the earnings call that it was a global logistics provider. That could be a company like FedEx or UPS looking for body cameras to give its drivers an easy way to record package drop-offs and keep a record of any other incident the driver might face in the course of their day. Axon touted the interest from the enterprise sector in using its products for frontline workers. Story Continues That deal shows the opportunity that Axon has in tapping untraditional markets as the utility of body cameras goes beyond law enforcement. For instance, security companies would likely benefit from them, as would other drivers and transportation workers, and many others who interact with the general public and would like to have a digital record in case there’s a need for it. Axon’s mission is to protect life. It’s a great mission statement as it clearly states the company’s purpose and prevents the company from being too focused on a single product like Taser. It leaves room for the company to expand into new products, and it’s done exactly that with tools like its new artificial intelligence (AI) features such as Draft One, which auto-transcribes footage for body cameras to make police reports. Axon estimates its addressable market every year and now believes it operates in a total addressable market (TAM) of $129 billion, based on expanding opportunities in international governments, the enterprise market, and with AI. Axon has only penetrated 2% of that market currently, and even in U.S. state and local governments, it believes its TAM penetration is just 15%, indicating a large growth opportunity still remains. Axon will continue to innovate with new technology. Costs for things like cloud storage and AI will likely continue to come down. The company will be able to solve even more problems for its customers in the future as it brings new companies into the fold through acquisitions and rolls out new technologies. The future is still bright for Axon Enterprise, and the stock looks like a great buy after pulling back from its peak.
