  1. The Warhammer Skulls Showcase was full to the brim with, unsurprisingly, lots of Warhammer 40,000 game news, including a sequel to Boltgun and a definitive edition of Dawn of War. CRPG heads were also treated to a reveal of Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, a new party-based title from Owlcat Games, the devs behind another Warhammer game Rogue Trader. The reveal came in the form of a nicely partially 2D-animated trailer alongside some brief looks at gameplay, all of which is looking quite good. Read more View the full article
  2. You can already start pre-farming Phainon’s materials ahead of Honkai: Star Rail 3.4, thanks to the leaks. Phainon is confirmed to be one of the new playable characters arriving with Version 3.4, a patch that will not only continue to develop on top of Amphoreus’ story arc but also bring forth the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works collaboration event. In total, the update should see three new playable characters: Phainon, Saber, and Archer. Phainon is the only one who is not from the Fate event. Recently, there have been leaks about Phainon’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail. View the full article
  3. A decades old Magic: The Gathering card is spiking in price thanks to its inclusion in a hot new Modern deck. Coldsnap copies of Allosaurus Rider were selling for $1.70 a couple of days ago, but now they're being snapped up for a whopping $16.20. A surge of interest in a 19-year-old card with very low supply is a perfect recipe for this sort of sudden jump. Other versions of the card haven't moved at all, but the Coldsnap variant is soaring. 4. Gearbox CEO ****** Pitchford has posted a video on social media clarifying his earlier remark that "real fans" would buy Borderlands 4 no matter the cost. His initial statement, written after a user had commented that the game "better not be 80 dollars," was quickly condemned by fans who felt that Pitchford had put a price tag on fan loyalty. Borderlands 4 is currently in development, with a release on September 12, 2025. View the full article

  7. head of its reveal at today's Warhammer Skulls event, I got to speak to Owlcat producer Anatoly Shestov about Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy, the studio's next big CRPG to follow up the breakout Rogue Trader. Here are my big takeaways from the conversation:.. Read more.View the full article
  8. My favorite battle royale ever made was Sharkmob's Bloodhunt. Reimagining the Vampire: The Masquerade universe in a new, unique way, its rain-soaked Prague and slick cosmetics meant it shot straight to the top of my 'favorite PC games' list, only to be killed off a couple of years later. I know how it feels to watch one of my favorite titles bite the dust, ruined by cheaters and bad actors, so I can empathize with the dedicated Super People players who were there when it breathed its last back in 2023. But, in news I really didn't expect to write today, Wonder Games' multiplayer shooter is back, and it's holding a new closed beta test next month. Read the rest of the story... 9. Ahead of my trip to 11 Bit Studios HQ in Warsaw, I did not expect to fall in love with its upcoming slate of games quite so quickly. While acutely aware of its hard-hitting works like Frostpunk, This War of Mine, and The Invinicible, I had little to no experience with its tried and tested formula of engaging gameplay loops interspersed with dark and desperate thematic hooks. The Alters has convinced me to pay the Polish developer-publisher much more mind. The in-house efforts of 11 Bit Studios have produced a gorgeous and immediately engaging interstellar exploration game that's as much a management sim as a narrative space opera. With just a few weeks until release, The Alters is poised to become another fine example of the value of a Game Pass subscription to players and publishers alike. Read the rest of the story... 10. A little over two weeks on from the launch of Stellaris 4.0 and the Biogenesis DLC, things are starting to stabilize. Developer Paradox has just launched Stellaris patch 4.0.13, the latest in a long string of updates delivering more performance improvements, balance tweaks, and bug fixes for the space 4X game. As the studio looks ahead to the Shadows of the Shroud expansion, game director Stephen 'Eladrin' Muray ponders how success is measured in Stellaris, and ways that its enemy AI can provide a more rewarding challenge. 11. I liked Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun quite a bit. I'm not a huge Warhammer guy, but a straight-up boomer shooter I can quickly jump in and out of for a few minutes of blood and guts when the urge strikes? That's my jam. So I think it's very good news that more is on the way: During today's Warhammer Skulls Showcase, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 was officially announced and set for launch in 2026... 12. Ever find yourself thinking, "man, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun was a good video game, it sure would be swell if they made another one of those"? If so, the headline already spoiled this for you, but I'm going to pretend like it hasn't: a sequel was just revealed at the Warhammer Skulls Showcase! The reveal trailer mostly shows off what looks like more of the first game, but with boomer shooters that look this good, I think that's just fine. Read more View the full article

  14. Recent tweaks to difficulty values across Doom: The Dark Ages make the game's experience that much more challenging. These changes don't detract from the considerable level of difficulty customization that Doom: The Dark Agesoffers, though, and fans remain free to fine-tune their game difficulties however they like.
