A new report claims that Build a Rocket Boy, the development studio behind the recently released MindsEye, has been hit with layoffs following the action-adventure game's disastrous launch earlier this month. Build a Rocket Boy has yet to comment on the supposed layoffs, but the report claims that more than 100 employees at the MindsEyestudio are at risk of losing their jobs as the redundancy process begins. The ability to completely switch up your combat style by using a respec option is pretty common in modern videogames, and the first Outer Worlds was no different. Coming into The Outer Worlds 2, however, Obsidian is doubling down on its promise to a real roleplaying experience by removing the option to respec your character. Build a Rocket Boy, the studio behind MindsEye, has reportedly started the process of laying off numerous staff. According to a report at IGN, which cites studio sources speaking under anonymity, the Edinburgh-based developer has started a 45-day consultation process with staff today. In *** law, if a company is planning to make fewer than 20 employees redundant, it doesn’t have to start a consultation process.
