  1. You know a game is serious about its horror when even its release is a jump scare. So it is for The Sinking City Remastered, which (following its announcement back in March) has surprise launched today... Read more.View the full article
  2. The march towards the next major Monster Hunter Wilds update continues, but since it still has a nebulous ‘summer’ release target, all we can really do is log in every week to play the latest set of Event and Challenge Quests in the action RPG. Read more View the full article
  3. In the new Team Fortress 2 update, Valve says that it has "relaxed in-game chat restrictions for certain accounts." On the surface, that would seem to suggest that anybody playing TF2 for free will now be able to use the in-game text and chat functions again - since 2020, those features have been unavailable to anybody without a premium account. However, while some free players report that the chat systems are, indeed, usable now, others say that they are not. Half-Life 3 may be Valve's biggest mystery, but something strange is happening in TF2. Read the rest of the story... 5. There's nothing going on with Helldivers 2 today. It's a quiet one. Well, aside from the whole fresh Illuminate invasion deployed alongside some new enemies and mechanics. If that wasn't enough to digest, the full patch those additions are part of - 01.003.000 - has delivered a bunch of fresh weapon balancing. Read more View the full article
  6. If Letters Had Pants appears to be the product of three different elevator pitches that took place in the same elevator, and somehow resolved amicably rather than eating each other alive. The first pitch was for a verbal puzzler in which you combine letters into words on a randomised grid against the clock, with the twist that words vanish when scored to create blank spaces that can be bridged by other letter combinations for higher scores. The second pitch was for a bizarrely prudish roguelite that is all about ensuring that letters are properly dressed. And the third pitch was for an archaeological excavation sim in which you exhibit things like lost floppy discs, or sell them to expand your museum. The result, against the odds, is a single and cohesive video game rather than a claustrophobic clownfight. Witness the below trailer. Read more View the full article
  7. With DOOM: The Dark Ages about to release for everyone on May 15th, and with Advanced Access available, it seems it needs some workarounds to run on Linux with AMD GPUs. This is likely what Valve already solved in SteamOS for Steam Deck. Read the full article here: [Hidden Content] View the full article
  8. Discussions around a Waffle House stage in Tekken 8 have been an ongoing gag for around a year at this point, rooted entirely around the restaraunt's online reputation for early morning brawls and Tekken's own impactful depictions of fisticuffs. As it turns out, attempts have been made on Tekken's side, with director Katsuhiro Harada claiming to have tried to get the ball rolling. Read more View the full article
  9. Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada says he wants to add a stage inspired by Waffle House but the US restaurant chain is ignoring his collaboration requests. Last year Harada took to X to ask his followers why so many of them were asking him to add a Tekken stage set in a Waffle House. Players replied by explaining that Waffle House has become something of a meme due to its numerous viral videos of fights taking place in its restaurants, sometimes involving staff. Read More... 10. I have a narcissistic recurring daydream that consists of teleporting historical celebrities into the present so that I can show them bits of 21st century technology and absolutely blow their tiny, primordial minds. "This deceptively pocket-sized contraption is a trillion times more powerful than your silly adding machines," I would tell Charles Babbage, brandishing my smashed Google Pixel phone. "Did the Wright Flyer have wifi?" I would ask Wilbur and Orville, pushing their faces against the window of a 747. "Put this in your pipe and smoke it," I would tell Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, menacing him with the trailer for Silver Palace, a new open world action-RPG from ******** developers Silver Studio and publishers Elementa, which is notionally set in a Victorian metropolis. 13. Steam Deck owners will be familiar with the practice of peering into a new game’s Steam store page and hoping, begging, praying to whatever god is yet to abandon this cruel joke of a reality that it has a little green tick mark on it. This is, of course, the Steam Deck Verified programme, wherein Valve gives good behaviour stickers to games that function fully on their handheld PC. Soon, this system – so often a source of relief and disappointment – will be expanded, with a view to rating games for compatibility with SteamOS as a whole. As the announcement post explains, that’s because the first non-Steam Deck SteamOS handheld, a new version of the Lenovo Legion Go S, is launching soon, with the possibility of more in the future. 15. Helldivers 2 has released a major new update to the game, which adds new Illuminate enemies, weapon customization and progression, and makes changes to the Superstore. Patch 01.003.000 is out now across PC and PlayStation 5. Following a number of teases from developer Arrowhead, Helldivers 2 has unleashed a new invasion push from the Illuminate alien faction. This brings with it new enemies, as detailed on the PlayStation Blog, including the Stingray (jetfighters that provide Illuminate support from the sky, targeting Helldivers and lining up devastating strafing runs), and the Crescent Overseer, which has the ability to lay barrages on Helldivers in cover. There’s also the Fleshmob, which is described as a “failed” Illuminate experiment: “a Frankenstein’s monster of Voteless parts turned into a brute battlefield force that the Helldivers must work hard to destroy.” Attention, Helldivers: This is a Galactic Emergency. The true Illuminate invasion has begun. In a sudden and completely unprovoked offensive manoeuvre, the full Illuminate fleet is emerging from the Meridia Singularity. Nothing is safe - not even the Heart of Democracy itself. [Hidden Content] — HELLDIVERS™ 2 (@helldivers2) May 13, 2025 Arrowhead teased “sightings of other, even larger ships, though details remain unclear on their abilities.” So perhaps there will be more for players to discover once they jump into the game. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 now has weapon customization and progression for the first time. Now, most primary weapons have levels that are achievable by completing missions, which then in turn unlock new attachments obtainable through Requisition. In addition to attachments, players can also unlock patterns for their weapons. Here’s the official blurb: Whether it's tweaking sights for precision, changing color patterns, adjusting magazines for ammo capacity, muzzles to optimize weapon performance characteristics or adjusting under-barrel attachments for the handling you want, you're in command of how your weaponry performs on the battlefield. This level of individual attunement is sure to make your favorite primary best in its class. Arrowhead has also unlocked and deployed a stash of patterns for the FRV themed on the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds. This backlog of patterns unlock on May 15, with the launch of the Masters of Ceremony Warbond. And finally, the Superstore has been changed so items you want are always available, as opposed to players having to wait for items to come back into rotation. Outside new features, patch 01.003.000 brings with it an extensive balance pass, with changes to spread, drag, sway, melee weapons stamina cost, shrapnel spawning, and fire damage. 19. Stellar Blade - the apparently very good third-person action extravaganza with a heroine who definitely only dresses like that because she's comfortable with her sexuality and besides, bunny girl outfits are lightweight and tactically efficient - will launch on 11th June, according to a new trailer. PlayStation appear to have posted the trailer early in a classic case of marketing butterfingers. They've now removed the video, but somebody from Reddit has preserved and uploaded it as an everlasting monument to Sony's shame. Read more View the full article
