  2. lright, alright. I know this website is called PC Gamer. I am aware, dimly, that the PlayStation 5 is not a PC. A thing that is even less a PC? The PS2. And yet here I am, writing about a PS2 game arriving on PS5... Read more.View the full article
  3. One of the most memorable sequences in Cyberpunk 2077 is the heist that sets the bulk of its plot in motion. It neatly introduces some of the game's most important cast members, showcases the possibilities of its setting's futuristic technology, and does all of this in dramatic fashion. It's no wonder, then, that heists are a recurring theme in cyberpunk fiction, from the pioneering novel Neuromancer through to tactics-based sci-fi games like Invisible Inc, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, and, most recently, Cyber Knights: Flashpoint. Now, anyone looking to get into the latest of these is in luck, as Cyber Knights has just hit 1.0 on Steam alongside positive user reviews and a launch discount. Read the rest of the story... 4. Last year, CD Projekt Red released their final update for Cyberpunk 2077. Version 2.2 of the game added in fixes, a few more customisation options for you and your trusty steed (car), alongside some secrets. This version itself got patched with a few more fixes, but 2.2 was meant to be the last big one. Turns out, they lied! As in a stream held earlier today mostly to do with that new video game console that just came out with the kart driving plumber on it (more like Switch 2 another channel, am I right), CD Projekt Red shared that a 2.3 version is on the way to the open world game later this month. 5. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 developer Warhorse Studios has released another new update for its smash-hit RPG, bringing the title to version 1.3.2 with a handful of new fixes and improvements. The latest Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2update is now live for all supported platforms, which includes PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While players won't find anything new in the patch, there are some important fixes focused on quest bugs, visual stability, and more. View the full article
  6. The release window for a Sonic Frontiers sequel may have just been leaked online. 2022’s Sonic Frontiers stood out from most of the Blue Blur’s other platforming adventures thanks to a new open-world framework, expanded combat, and a more emotionally-driven story penned by longtime Sonic comic book scribe Ian Flynn. The results were mostly well-received by fans, with Sonic Frontierseven setting a record as the Sonic game with the most concurrent players on Steam at one point. View the full article
  7. Translucent PC peripherals are back with a bang, as Razer has just dropped its gorgeous (to my eyes, anyway) Phantom collection. It includes stunning green see-through versions of the Blackwidow V4 75% gaming keyboard, Basilisk V3 Pro 35K gaming mouse, Barracuda X Chroma headset, and Firefly V2 mouse pad. We have the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K earmarked as the best gaming mouse for work and play, while the Blackwidow V4 75% is also on our list of the best gaming keyboards, which speaks to the quality of this collection from Razer, and now you can get them in a retro translucent finish too. 9. Ubisoft multiplayer FPS XDefiant, a cross-brand fusion featuring characters from Tom Clancy games, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and others, is no more. The Call of Duty rival has now shut its servers down, and game director Mark Rubin confirms that he's stepping away from game development to spend time with his family. In a goodbye post, the former CoD producer, whose past work includes the early Modern Warfare games that redefined the competitive shooter space, points to a lack of marketing and resources as a key reason for XDefiant's failure. 10. Who are all the Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls characters? Arc System Works has some difficult decisions to make before its 4v4 tag-team fighting game launches, mainly on the character roster front. After all, if Wolverine isn't in this game, we suspect Arc will have to respond to some rather stern emails. With the Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls release date set for 2026, there's plenty of time to theorize which characters will be added to the fighting game before it launches. Before we do that, take a closer look at which fighters have made the roster in the upcoming game, as well as who is likely to join the cast based on the Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls easter eggs we've spotted. 12. Martial arts seem like a perfect fit for the RPG genre. Still, aside from classics like Shenmue and ***** Empire or newer games like Wandering Sword, there aren't as many projects that fit this description as might be expected. Blade and Soul, an MMORPG from 2012, looked to fill this gap with an online kung-fu role-playing game presented in the style of wuxia books, TV, and film. Unfortunately, players looking to check it out in the form of its newly launched remaster, Blade and Soul Neo, seem massively disappointed so far, if Steam's user ratings are any indication. 13. Holtzman Shields play a central role in Dune: Awakening's combat system, and they are among the most iconic features of the Dune universe. In Dune lore, these Holtzman Shields work by preventing molecules from traveling through the shield above a set speed, and effectively work to repel projectiles from rifles and scatterguns, etc. Holtzman Shields are the reason that melee and bladed weapons are necessary from a lore perspective, in that you would ostensibly need to get in close range to cut through the shield. 14. Intel's new lineup of Nova Lake CPUs will reportedly contain some of the company's most advanced GPU tech, leaving the existing Battlemage architecture in the past. Not only is the new Intel CPU lineup expected to make use of Intel's forthcoming Xe3 Celestial graphics architecture, but it could also take parts from its Xe4 Druid graphics system. Intel has been facing growing pressure from AMD in the world of integrated graphics lately, with even AMD-based MSI Claw handhelds now being available, despite being an Intel-exclusive range beforehand. Meanwhile, as we saw in our recent Asus ROG Flow Z13 review, AMD now has a seriously powerful integrated GPU, and Intel currently has nothing to rival it. Read the rest of the story... 15. Ever since the days of Doom and Quake, we've seen FPS games come up with all manner of creative ways to build on the core run-and-gun gameplay. Even before them, Ultima Underworld established the fundamentals of the more open-ended immersive sim, later popularized by Thief and Deus Ex. Arkane proved itself a modern master of the format with Dishonored and Prey, and then built upon those ideas for its magnum opus, Deathloop. It won our GotY gong in 2021 and now, thanks to the latest crop of Epic Games Store free games, you can snag a copy completely for free. Read the rest of the story... 21. Last month, ahead of the launch of the Switch 2 and its GameChat communication features, Nintendo quietly updated its privacy policy to note that the company "may also monitor and record your video and audio interactions with other users." Now that the Switch 2 has officially launched, we have a clearer understanding of how the console handles audio and video recorded during GameChat sessions, as well as when that footage may be sent to Nintendo or shared with partners, including law enforcement. Before using GameChat on Switch 2 for the first time, you must consent to a set of GameChat Terms displayed on the system itself. These terms warn that chat content is "recorded and stored temporarily" both on your system and the system of those you chat with. But those stored recordings are only shared with Nintendo if a user reports a violation of Nintendo's Community Guidelines, the company writes. That reporting feature lets a user "review a recording of the last three minutes of the latest three GameChat sessions" to highlight a particular section for review, suggesting that chat sessions are not being captured and stored in full. The terms also lay out that "these recordings are available only if the report is submitted within 24 hours," suggesting that recordings are deleted from local storage after a full day. 22. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredis obviously more graphically advanced than the original game, but some of its changes come with big caveats. While I'm skeptical of the whole affair, which overwrites some of the most interesting atmospheric elements of the original style, most of the game does look reasonably good in its own right. When it comes to character models, however, the graphical upgrade has some especially big caveats that I'd rather not see return in any future Bethesda remasters. View the full article
  23. I'm trying to reverse engineer the distinctive look of classic RTS games and CRPGs. It's the isometric view, it's the sprites, and it's the over-designed, semi screen-filling menus and interaction prompts. But I also think of dense, destroyed cities and yellow-brown, post-apocalyptic deserts. It's Planescape Torment. It's Tiberian Sun. It's Jagged Alliance 2, War Wind, and the first Diablo. On a strictly visual level, these are the games I love the most. DORF combines them all. Mechanically, it's closest to Command and Conquer - but Command and Conquer set in the world of Interplay's original Fallout. Read the rest of the story...
