  1. Silent Hill f will reportedly feature more action-oriented gameplay and will place a heavier emphasis on melee combat when compared to 2024's Silent Hill 2 remake. The next game in the franchise is now only four months away, and while many fans are intrigued by the title's Japanese setting and characters, others may not like the gameplay shift that Silent Hill f will introduce. Oblivion’s renowned meme king, the YouTuber Bacon_, has recently regaled us with tales of rescuing Emperor Uriel Septim, secret agent-style, and why the original’s chaotic Radiant AI system remains the gold standard for Bethesda NPCs. 3. I've been feeling spiritually, physically, and cognitively exhausted recently - jelly of limb, soul, and mind - and 9 Kings is picking up the slack something tremendous. The idea is that each king has a themed card deck, used to build structures and units to defend your base against the other 8. Each king's deck contains its own synergies (a bad corporate word we've somehow adopted in lieu of the superior 'interfuckery' or 'mingle-jinks', but I'll use for simplicity's sake), and the cards you gain from fighting other kings create even more. You'll even get chances to make peace or wage war on new kings to chase certain playstyles. Read more View the full article

  5. The world of Mario Kart got flipped on its head in Mario Kart World, now with the ability to grind on rails and ride on walls with your vehicles. These new gameplay mechanics are far from just a gimmick, though. They give a boost to your speed and are crucial to learn and master if you're looking to beat your friends in races or dominate the addictive Knockout Tour mode online. Mario Kart may seem like a simple game, and it is and can be at a base level, but using techniques like Charge Jumps, Wall Rides, and Rail Rides is how you go to the next level as a racer and learn to truly dominate your opponents. Here's everything you need to know about how to grind on rails and ride on walls in Mario Kart World. How to rail ride and wall ride in Mario Kart World Screenshot by Destructoid To wall ride or grind a rail in Mario Kart World, you first must Charge Jump. This is done by holding down R while driving straight (turning will cause you to drift) and charging up a jump. When the jump is charged (the controller will vibrate and your back wheels will spark), you can hop into the air. Right as you charge jump, you can tilt the analog stick left or right to flip your kart in that direction to go towards a wall or a rail to initiate the new movement mechanic. Press R again to flip off of the wall or rail and land back on the track for a nice speed boost. Charge Jumping is a crucial new part of Mario Kart World. Every time you Charge Jump and then land, you get a little speed boost, the same exact kind of boost that you get when successfully drifting around corners. Screenshot by Destructoid Whenever you are on a straightaway, make sure to be Charge Jumping. When you're driving around turns, hold down R to drift for a different but similar kind of speed boost to ensure that you're always moving quickly and staying ahead of the pack in every race. You can also rail ride by simply landing or driving onto a rail. Some rails begin on the ground, so it's easy to do, while others require you to get some air. This can be done by Charge Jumping or even using the new Feather item, which launches you into the air. The post How to wall ride and grind rails in Mario Kart World appeared first on Destructoid. 8. If what looks like a leaked trailer is anything to go by, Lies of P's upcoming DLC, Overture, could shadow-drop very soon. The trailer — which is already making the rounds on social media — concludes with the statement: "Available now." This trailer has leaked just hours ahead of the Summer Game Fest showcase and two days before Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase, so perhaps we'll get an official announcement and release at one of the presentations. Summer Game Fest kicks off at 2pm PT / 5pm ET today, June 6, while Xbox Games Showcase starts at 10am PT / 1pm ET on June 8. Lies Of P's Overture DLC release trailer leaked This DLC will be released during the Summer Game Fest.#LiesofP [Hidden Content] — EliteGamingNews (@Elite_Gaming_X) June 6, 2025 Lies of P is a unique, darker twist on the classic story of Pinocchio, offering a challenging action game with a unique "lie" system where what you do and say dynamically affects gameplay. The upcoming new DLC — which features new locations, new enemies and bosses, new characters, and new weapons — also introduces Death March, a new mode that enables you to face off against the game's myriad of bosses all over again. In all, the DLC will take experienced players roughly 15-20 hours to complete, and will unlock once they’ve passed a “certain” chapter of the game. Neowiz has also already announced a full-blown sequel to Lies of P. Interestingly, Overture will introduce difficulty options for the very first time. As a "Soulslike" game, Lies of P can be punishingly difficult, especially for inexperienced players perhaps attracted by Lies of P's dark story and setting. Director Jiwon Choi had said the team didn't think Soulslike games should have difficulty options and it shipped without any. Neowiz changed its mind, however, following feedback from players, saying: “We wanted to make sure a wider audience of players could play the game. We have a lot of feedback from customers, and from our developers. So by making development adjustments and introducing these difficulty options, we can offer the experience to different types of players. This broadens the base.” We had a good time with Lies of P, awarding it 8/10. We said: "Lies of P might not branch out particularly far from its soulslike inspiration, but it plays the part extremely well." 10. The Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol event challenges you to strategically build a team for an auto battler face-off in Marvel Rivals. If you want to achieve victory, you need to use the best team comps. There's a vast roster of heroes to choose from, and none of them play the same as they do outside of the event. It can be tricky to figure out what works and what doesn't, so here are the best team comps you can use for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol event in Marvel Rivals. Table of contentsBest teams for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol in Marvel RivalsBest characters for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol event in Marvel RivalsTeam building tips for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol in Marvel RivalsBest teams for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol in Marvel Rivals Screenshot by Destructoid The best teams for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol generally vary depending on who you're going up against, but having a strong selection of flexible heroes is always crucial for success. Here are some of the best teams you can use to achieve victory in Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol. All heroes have access to some abilities they don't have outside of this mode, so although some of these teams wouldn't work well outside of the event, they excel in this special, modified version of the game. Screenshot by Destructoid I've had success with all of the teams listed here, but the one I ended up going 25-3 with and winning the entire round was Groot, Peni Parker, Captain America, Bruce Banner/Hulk, Namor, and Rocket Raccoon. I positioned them in a sort of "T" formation with Rocket Raccoon and Namor protected by Vanguards around them. I moved my team around the board here and there, but kept the same formation throughout and dominated almost every match. Best characters for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol event in Marvel Rivals You can mostly craft a strong team with any roster you like, but there are certainly some heroes who really shine in this mode. Here are the overall best characters you can use in Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol. Namor - Namor's Monstro Spawn can shoot across the entire map in this mode, so he's one of the strongest Duelists you can use. He's especially effective if you also put Bruce Banner/Hulk on your team for the Gamma Charge Team-Up and keep Namor positioned in the backline. It's also a good idea to grab his Monstro Spawns Army Strengthen Module if it comes up to make him even more effective. Groot - His walls are really OP in this mode, especially if you keep him near the frontline and have your Duelists and Strategists positioned further back for protection. Loki - In every single team I've made with him, Loki has been the last one standing in the matches I've lost. He's got super impressive survivability and healing output in this mode. His clones are also quite useful, and he seems to be really efficient at staying alive, dealing damage, and supporting the entire team. He always uses his healing circle right at the start of the round, so be sure to position him close to Vanguards for maximum efficiency. It's also crucial you make sure you have a second Strategist who has a strong healing ultimate he can copy, like Invisible Woman or Luna Snow. Screenshot by Destructoid Rocket Raccoon - With him on your team, you can revive, which is a huge bonus to have on your side. His healing also goes across the entire battlefield nicely. Venom - He's a really strong tank in this mode, but to make the most of him, you need to get the King in ****** Strengthen Module. With it, some damage he deals with his ultimate is converted to health, and he also grows larger. It's a really fun and effective power. Invisible Woman - In this mode, her already potent ultimate is more powerful than ever. She's got excellent healing, nice survivability, and solid damage output. Wolverine - No one can shred Vanguards like he can, so if you're facing a team that has some dominant ones, add a Wolverine to your line-up to easily get rid of them. He also always targets the enemy with the lowest health, which makes him highly effective at eliminating foes. Team building tips for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol in Marvel Rivals If you want to make and play with your own custom team, there are some general tips you should keep in mind to ensure you have a strong lineup. Here are some team-building tips for Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol. Pay attention to how each member of your team dies. If you know why you're losing, you can focus on acquiring Modules or otherwise implementing changes to correct it. For example, if your Vanguards are consistently dying early on, you may need to switch out or build your Strategists better, or try out some different Vanguards.Change your team as needed. Between each match, you can spend Tokens to swap out any member of your team. If you're getting countered, switch your line-up around until you find one that works. Screenshot by Destructoid Choose your Strengthen Modules carefully based on what you need most. If you're not getting enough healing, choose a Strategist one. If you're not getting enough damage, buff up one of your Duelists. If you're struggling to push and protect, buff your Vanguards. Play around with different comps. The fun part about this mode is that there's really no wrong line-up, so feel free to experiment and try out different teams until you find one that fits what you're looking for. 11. The latest Nintendo console is here. That's normally massive news. Do you want it? Do you need it? Is it worth it? That all depends on a lot of factors. I've been using the Switch 2 for a couple of days now, trying out new games, testing out old ones, and using the new features of the console like Game Chat, the JoyCon mouse, and more. And I can confidently say that it's an awesome console, but not a must-buy just yet. A super evolution Photo by Scott Duwe The Switch 2 hardware is a big improvement on the Switch 1, which was already feeling kind of dated when it launched back in 2017. But it really does feel like an upgraded Switch 2 as opposed to a whole new console, and I feel like a new and improved UI would have gone a long way into making this feel different. I still feel like this should've been called the Super Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Super Switch or something. Thinking about the changes from a PS2 to a PS3 to a PS4, a UI upgrade and change always came with those consoles, making them feel distinct from each other. The Switch 2 has the same UI as the Switch 1, which is nice in some ways, but also makes the console feel like less of an evolutionary jump than it might actually be. The biggest differences on how much different and new the console feels is definitely felt in handheld mode, with a ******* and better screen, and new JoyCons that are improved in almost every way. The ZL and ZR triggers especially are a massive improvement. Games look and run better than ever whether in handheld or docked mode, which now supports 4K for the first time in Nintendo's history. This is a big deal for the newest games, such as Mario Kart World which is beautiful to look at no matter how you play it, but also for some older titles that are now suped up. An investment for the future Image via Nintendo As usual, with consoles, it's all about the games. Switch 2 has multiple updated and upgraded versions of existing games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, or Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but it's also able to brute force other older games to run smoother or load faster, such as allowing games like Bayonetta 3 to run at 60 FPS, or lessening massive framerate lag in games like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity or Batman: Arkham City. Mario Kart World, I think, is the one must-have "killer app" for the Switch 2 right now, but others are coming, and they're coming quick. Donkey Kong Bananza comes in July, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is in October, and games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby Air Riders, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment are all due to come sometime in 2025. And then, of course, we have From Software's The Duskbloods in 2026, which will be a must-play. And more and more games are on the way. These big exclusives are coming on top of other large third-party games that now will play and run better on the new hardware, the Switch 2 will easily become a must-own in the near future, so I can't blame anyone (like myself) who are currently taking the plunge to pick one up at launch. Chat, chat, they chattin', they chat Image via Nintendo Game Chat is a feature that surprised me when Nintendo showed it off at a special event last week. There's a lot of potential for fun and silliness while playing games or just hanging out with friends and family across the world. Using a USB-C camera, Game Chat truly creates a "virtual living room," as Nintendo called it. And the camera capabilities don't end there, as I've had a blast playing Mario Kart World with my family while the camera is set up. Playing co-op will allow you to put your faces in the game, hovering above your racers, creating hilarity with each Red Shell. A party chat with friends is just a quick press of the C button away, and it's more innovative and useful than I ever thought it'd be, especially for those of us who no longer live close by to friends and family. I think it's especially underrated when it comes to playing co-op games with pals and helping along a friend who may be lost elsewhere in the level, by simply looking at their screen and being able to direct them. Gamers are in control Image via Nintendo When it comes to controlling how you play, the Switch 2 has even more variety than the Switch 1. Along with the JoyCons in handheld mode, attached to a charging controller, or holding them sideways (and the Switch 2 Pro Controller, which may be one of the cleanest and best controllers I've ever used), you can also use the JoyCons like computer mice. It's tough to judge how this functionality works without playing an FPS like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but the ability to seamlessly and instantly swap from normal JoyCon mode to mouse mode is really awesome. I'm excited to try out FPS games in the future with this functionality. In summary, do you need a Switch 2 right now? Unless you're financially stable enough to afford the hefty pricetag, you're a hardcore Nintendo enthusiast, or you simply must have Mario Kart World, I'd say not really. But that is changing very quickly once the console's game lineup expands, and it's going to happen rapidly, so if you're on the fence and plan on playing the console for years to come and are trying to justify the purchase, then go for it. Join us. See you in Game Chat. The post Nintendo Switch 2 review in progress – An awesome addition, currently for enthusiasts, but will become a must-buy soon appeared first on Destructoid. 20. Dune: Awakening was down for a couple of hours earlier today as Funcom applied a hotfix to help improve server stability and address a number of issues that have popped up since the game went live for "head start" players yesterday, June 5. Top of the list was "improved server stability" — although there was no specifics — and a pop-up has been added so that when you click on the "Private" tab in the server browser, you'll be informed that these servers are managed externally. (For more about what you do and don't get when you rent a private server, we've got you covered). As for the other fixes? Here you go… Dune: Awakening June 6 Hotfix 11.0.5 Patch NotesFixed an issue where certain player base placeables’ menu would fail to load if the player switched between placeables’ tabs in quick succession, using the Q and E keys.Fixed an issue where players could sometimes get a suggested server that was not the closest in the region.Fixed an issue causing players to be stuck in the Imperial Testing Station #002 boss room by removing the pentashield doors.Fixed an issue where NPCs in the Arrakeen social hub could sometimes get stuck in place. Funcom warned that while some of the changes will take effect the moment they are deployed, others may require a downtime, so keep an eye out for in-game service messages. We haven't yet had chance to review Dune: Awakening, but we did take an extended peek when the beta was live. "As a longtime fan of Dune, it also just feels so good to explore and learn more about a world that I’m quite fond of, and Funcom has clearly put a ton of effort into worldbuilding and lore, even despite taking quite a bit of creative liberty by placing Awakening within a parallel reality and canon than the books/movies," we wrote in IGN's Dune: Awakening closed beta impressions preview. "There are little details that have a massive impact on gameplay. I won’t go into spoilers, but this kind of attention to detail touches just about every aspect of the world, including the factions and characters you meet along the way, which should be a treat for any fan of the setting." And if you're wondering what players are making of Dune: Awakening so far, the survival multiplayer game isn't properly out yet, but it has already set a concurrent player peak on Steam of almost 100,000 players. For more, check out details on the MMO's business model and post-launch plans, and we've also got the global release time schedule for Dune: Awakening right here for you, too. The latest new GPU to get a price drop is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, which is currently going for just £379.99 at Overclockers, saving you £20 on the MSRP, and enabling you to pick up a decent graphics card with plenty of VRAM. I recently tested this GPU for my Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti review, and found that in some ways it was an even better buy than the more expensive RTX 5070, thanks to its extra 4GB of VRAM. This Nvidia GPU already offers reasonable value at MSRP, but it's a really good deal for £379.99, especially for the 16GB version.
