The problem with deciding to play every single Nancy Drew mystery puzzle game for a column is that, because they have been coming out since the 90s, Her Interactive have built up enough steam that I may never catch up to the front of the plucky citizen detective train. They have today announced a release date of May 7th for Nancy Drew: Mystery Of The Seven Keys, along with the official trailer. This time Our Nance is heading to Prague, for a sort of old-world-meets-new story about hacking, medieval myths, and a stolen necklace. Nancy is hired to find said heirloom, and interview a bunch of suspects, one of whom is creepy puppet guy up there (there are no screens of Nancy because she never actually steps out from behind the camera in these games; she may as well be a cryptid). Helldivers 2 is one of the most popular games of recent months, with millions of players worldwide gearing up to bring justice to colonized planets. Now, fans have taken things to another level by creating real-life armor from Helldivers 2. Content creators from YouTube channel Galactic Armory recreated a basic armor set from Helldivers 2, which they call the Freedom Dispenser. The video was posted to YouTube on April 17. Hey you. Have you been moaning about a need for more bug fixes to arrive for Helldivers 2 recently? Well, if you've been one of the vocal folks calling for Arrowhead to stop putting out new content until it's tended to all of the lingering issues, that isn't going to happen. Though, the studio's CEO has pledged that it's aiming to get better at juggling the two. If you're out of the loop, while the Democratic Detonation Warbond has recently arrived in-game, along with some fresh ship module upgrades, there have still been plenty of bugs and issues doing the rounds as folks have been trying to enjoy their new stuff. From ***** damage being a bit too, er, damaging, to one of the latest armour sets having originally shipped with the wrong passive, Arrowhead's been managing to whack some of the issues, but, for better or worse, that hasn't stopped some players getting frustrated. For All Mankind is one of those long-running prestige TV series that everyone seems to greatly enjoy, but struggle to make an impact on the mainstream conversation. However, it appears that Apple is more than happy to keep it going and even give it a companion spinoff show. The tech and media giant is all in on sci-fi and space-related shows, it seems. From Foundation to For All Mankind, and also including more recent stuff like Constellation, Apple has been spending the big bucks on those genres, quickly making the Apple TV+ service the go-to streaming destination for those in love with outer space and high-concept science fiction. For All Mankind's season 5 renewal confirmation comes straight from Apple (via Variety), which is already calling it "a universe" instead of a single alt-history series. Of all the many XCOM adjacent turn-based strategy games on PC, Steamworld Heist might just be the one that makes you feel the coolest. A heist game all about leading your steampunk ****** pirate crew through a series of tactical spaceship shootouts, its unique bullet-bouncing gambit makes for some incredibly satisfying and deep strategy, so I was very happy to hear that Steamworld Heist 2 is bringing it back later in 2024. And one year later, the company says it has sold more than 150,000 games through the store. “We want to let everyone who enjoys games know that there is a vibrant game dev community making hundreds of inventive and thoughtful games for Playdate,” Arisa Sudangnoi, head of Playdate developer relations, said in a statement. The news comes exactly two years after the handheld first launched. Since launch, players believe the item remained a useless husk, with some calling it “a slap in the face.” Players expressed what they think of the Broken Key in an April 17 Reddit thread dedicated solely to discussing its uselessness. “In 2016, this was the most useless item in the game. Since then, nothing’s changed,” the original post reads. One player said finding the item in chests feels like a “slap in the face” and would “rather lose a health state and find literally anything besides that key.” For the uninitiated, the Broken Key requires add-ons to function properly, and finding it scattered around the map nets you exactly zero useful mechanics. Despite some high praise from certain groups of critics and moviegoers, Ridley Scott's Napoleon epic garnered a bit of a divisive reception last year, with Joaquin Phoenix's performance being a part of that. Now, British acting legend Brian Cox (of recent Succession fame) has also criticised the movie and its main actor. Cox has a long history of not giving a s**t when it comes to interviews and side gigs (such as that incredible Tekken 8 trailer he narrated). His recent rant at HistFest (via The Standard) is on an entirely different level, however. The veteran actor had negative things to say about method acting, Donald Trump, and theatre critics, but also had some bullets to spare for Phoenix's Napoleon performance as well as the (lack of) guidance he was given by Ridley Scott. "Terrible. It’s terrible," he declared, "A truly terrible performance by Joaquin Phoenix. It really is appalling. I don’t know what he was thinking. I think it’s totally his fault and I don’t think Ridley Scott helps him. I would have played it a lot better than Joaquin Phoenix, I tell you that."
