Fallout 4's "next generation" update goes live today. Timed to capitalise on the Fallout TV show's **** popularity, it'll encumber the 2015-released open world wasteland RPG with widescreen and ultra-widescreen support, Creation Kit fixes, and a "variety of quest updates" across Steam, Microsoft Store and GOG. There will be new items for the Creation Club, including the Makeshift ******* Pack, which lets you blast people with a piggy bank like Elon Musk, and a new quest, Echoes Of The Past, in which you try to "stop The Enclave from spreading their dangerous ideology and gaining a foothold in the Commonwealth". They're also bringing the game to the Epic Games Store and upgrading it to Steam Deck Verified status. Such days of bounty we do live through, but beware - it's possible the update will break existing Fallout 4 mods, which will be a problem for the very large numbers of you who've been downloading mods after watching the show. Indeed, the possibility of today's update messing with mods has already seen the creators of the promising Fallout: London delay release to assess the damage. If you're similarly concerned, you might want to disable auto-updates right now. Read more View the full article

If you've been anxiously awaiting news from Xbox Game Studios and The Coalition about Gears of War 6, know that you're not alone. Thankfully, the wait might be coming to an end really soon, as the rumor mill is heating up. While the timing makes sense (Gears 5 came out in 2019), AAA development is so screwed up nowadays that making these predictions is almost pointless. Recent reports, however, have claimed that a sixth mainline Gears of War is indeed part of Xbox's summer plans to wow the gaming sphere. Now, we may have just received proper confirmation from a major COG actor. When asked on social media about JD Fenix's fate in Gears 5 and whether the choice of Kate Diaz saving Del Walker over him will stick in the next game (as everyone doubts The Coalition is doing two slightly different campaigns), JD actor Liam McIntyre said once again he's truly got no idea, but that maybe the Gears team will tell us in June. Netflix has released a trailer for its upcoming Jennifer Lopez starring sci-fi film Atlas and fans of the Titanfall video game franchise are noticing a lot of similarities between the two. The two minute trailer shows off Lopez's Atlas Shepard fleeing from certain ****** in a giant mech akin to those seen in Titanfall, or more specifically its sequel, which was the first to feature a campaign. While this concept wasn't necessarily new at the time of Titanfall 2's release either, fans have spotted "pretty glaring" callouts to the game. Reddit user dravacotron pointed these out. A line in the trailer for the Netflix film sees the mech Smith tell pilot Atlas that "my primary protocol is to keep you alive". Titanfall 2's scene where the pilot properly meets the mech has the line: "Protocol 3: Protect the pilot." Another of the more iconic scenes from Titanfall 2 sees mech BT tell pilot Jack Cooper to trust it before hurling him across an enormous gap, and the Atlas trailer showcases a similar line: "This won't work if you don't trust me." The film is otherwise about a growing bond between mech and pilot who are both thrust into unexpected territory on a dangerous alien world, which is the general plot of Titanfall 2 as well. "I'm roughly 70% sure this was a rejected Titanfall script," said LapsedVerneGagKnee. "It literally looks like a parody. How did they even manage that?," asked sunboy4224. Agiantgrunt referenced the famous meme: "Mom can we have Titanfall movie. We have Titanfall movie at home." It literally looks like a parody. How did they even manage that? Titanfall fans have been desperate for another entry in the practically dormant franchise ever since Titanfall 2 released in 2016. Popular battle royale Apex Legends is set in the same universe but doesn't feature nearly as much of the story and lore the second game is remembered so fondly for. In our 9/10 review, IGN said: "A long-awaited single-player campaign puts Titanfall 2's feelgood mobility onto a sprawling platforming playground." Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article
There's not a lot of information about what Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian Studios is working on next, but based on the little that's known, there's good reason to believe the studio is headed in a substantially different direction. Considering the striking success that Baldur's Gate 3 has found since its release, pivoting to something different might seem like a dangerous choice that could alienate an enormous fan community. Depending on the approach, however, it's possible that what Larian is cooking up at the moment could be a more exciting prospect than another game like Baldur's Gate 3 would be. View the full article
No doubt celebrating the good reception that the new Fallout TV show has had, I've spotted that GOG has launched a week-long post-apocalyptic ***** that discounts many games that offer some sort of 'the world's gone to s**t' setting, from irradiated wastelands to zombie apocalypses... The closest I have come to having any interest in sport is when I got really into reading about football hooligans, or like, Blood Bowl, but I do absolutely recognise the romance of it all. SUDDEN ****** is a delicious free slice of playable art-pie that celebrates that romance. It is - says dev Cécile, who co-made the project with Nat ****** and MOTHER GOOSE for collective Domino Club - “a game about love and sports. it's gay, it's very ***********, and it's great.” You can tell it’s *********** quickly, because people call chips ‘chippies’, which makes me chuffed. Alien-infested submarine sim Barotrauma has received a chunky update, bringing two new-ish monsters into its lethal aquatic world. The shrimp-looking Mantis may be recognisable to veterans (it once appeared in pre-Steam builds). And the Viperling is a venomous variant of the existing Spineling (a thorny seaworm with hull-piercing porcupine-like spikes). But don't worry, the medical systems have also seen a "mini-rework", which means drugs like morphine are "less of a 'solution for everything'". Wait. What? Submariners in the game can still use morphine, opium and fentanyl to ease the pain of a monster *******, broken bones, wrecked organs, or be-bulleted body. However, the developers feel these drugs have been over-used. So they've rebalanced the opiates as part of their Blood in the Water update. Now the drugs have "a much higher risk of causing addiction and overdoses, and morphine heals much more slowly, making it less viable for combat-heavy situations." Well. Guess I'll just ****. Other changes to the medical system include: Read more View the full article
Playing Gears of War, all the way back in 2006, ******** one of my greatest videogame memories ever. It's hard to overemphasize just how good it felt. Image: Supercell Supercell doesn’t release a lot of games, but the studio’s mobile releases tend to be big hits. Think Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, and Clash Royale. Now, the developer is gearing up for its next major release: Squad Busters, which will be out globally on both Android and iOS on May 29th. It’s a competitive multiplayer game, but one on a larger scale than a typical mobile release. In each match, 10 players compete to collect the most gems while building up a squad of computer-controlled characters. It’s sort of like a simplified MOBA: you move your team around fighting minions, earning cash that lets you improve and grow your squad before you eventually start fighting other players and going for the big gem pile in the middle of the map.... The Imaginarium Theater in Genshin Impact allows players to borrow one character from a friend's account, and a recent ***** precisely explains how this new feature works. Since launch, the Spiral Abyss was the closest thing that Genshin Impact had to an endgame. It enabled players to push their characters and team-building knowledge to the limit, and it evolved alongside Genshin Impact as more enemies and gameplay styles emerged. View the full article
Wait, didn't General Grievous perish in Revenge of the Sith? Are they bringing another ***** villain back? No, don't worry. It's just that he's a key part of the Nightsisters' fall, and Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will be exploring that event as the most crucial one in Morgan Elsbeth's life. The six part animated mini-series, which will drop all its episodes on May the 4th, was a surprise announcement. While fans were waiting for new 'seasons' that followed the Tales of the Jedi format, we didn't know for sure what that would be or when it would arrive. Now, we know that it's right around the corner and that it'll flesh out the individual stories of Ahsoka baddie Morgan Elsbeth and Jedi-turned-Inquisitor Barriss Offee. The second surprise is that Tales of the Empire won't be filled with stormtroopers and all the Imperial stuff we're quite tired of at this point. Instead, it'll focus on two overlooked characters whose lives completely changed due to the Empire's creation. And in the case of Elsbeth, her 'defining moment' happened way before meeting Grand Admiral Thrawn. More specifically, when she watched most of her people **** at the hands of General Grievous near the end of the Clone Wars. Read more View the full article

Manor Lords isn't your typical city-builder—the first time I realised that was when I started building burgage plots.
