Timed perfectly off the back of the Fallout TV show's success, Fallout 76 players can start testing out Skyline Valley, a new woodland area in the game's upcoming major update. There's a new public event to try, as well as combat readjustments that'll be drip fed over the course of the test *******. Valve has updated its near 17-year-old competitive first-person shooter Team Fortress 2 to finally add 64-bit support. The update, which some fans are calling the most significant from Valve itself in years, should result in a performance improvement for most users. Reports indicate Team Fortress 2’s frames-per-second count is increased by around 20%, resulting in a much smoother experience. While this Team Fortress 2 update is certainly welcome, it has done little to calm the constant stream of requests from the player base for Valve to tackle the game’s most troublesome issue: bots. Team Fortress 2 has had a **** problem for years, and despite a community-wide drive to raise awareness for the issue, there is little sign of improvement. At the time of this article’s publication, Team Fortress 2 was the 16th most-played game on Valve’s platform, with 50,092 concurrent players. That’s more than the likes of Monster Hunter: World, Call of Duty, and Football Manager. Despite Team Fortress 2’s ongoing popularity, players have often accused Valve of neglecting the game in favor of other projects, such as Dota 2. In January, Team Fortress: Source 2 and Portal 64 fan projects were shut down by Valve takedowns. In development since at least 2021, Team Fortress: Source 2 was envisioned as a new version of the classic game on Garry's Mod spiritual successor s&box. With Team Fortress 2 now 17 years old and largely overrun by bots, Team Fortress: Source 2 was intended to inject fresh life into Valve's beloved shooter. It's now less than a week until Fallout 4's long-awaited next-gen update drops on April 25, bringing with it a bunch of tweaks for different platforms and some fresh goodies you can grab for free. If you're on PC the only issue with that is that updates - especially big ones - tend to play havoc with mods when they first drop, but modding platform Nexus Mods is taking some steps to try and make that transition a bit less of a headache. Cloud9 made a substantial change to its League of Legends roster on April 16 following its disappointing third-place finish in the 2024 LCS Spring Split. Fudge was replaced by Thanatos, but now, Fudge claims he’ll be fighting to earn the spot back. On April 18, C9’s CEO, Jack Etienne talked about the change in an interview with Dexerto. What are the system requirements for Fallout 76? Bethesda's attempt at turning Fallout into an online RPG was met with initial backlash due to poor performance and content issues. Four years later, it holds a mostly positive rating on Steam and has built a very dedicated community. Fallout 76 doesn't demand the best graphics card, instead relying on the now discontinued Nvidia GeForce GTX line of pixel pushers. While Cities: Skylines 2 has made progress on the performance front, not everything about the troubled citybuilder is on the up. In fact, player reception to the recently released Beach Properties DLC has proven so un-sunny that both developers Colossal Order and publishers Paradox Interactive have issued a ****** statement apologising for the state it launched in. The letter, addressed to Cities fans and signed by Colossal Order CEO Mariina Hallikainen and Paradox Interactive deputy CEO Mattias Lilja, also promises refunds for anyone who bought Beach Properties. Or, in the case of those who got it through snapping up Skylines 2’s Ultimate Edition, compensation in the form of three Creator Packs and three radio stations. Fortnite seems to be gearing up for a busy 2024, with the latest ***** revealing a roadmap featuring plenty of content updates and crossovers for all four game modes. Leaker HYPEX shared a rumored Fortnite roadmap for 2024 on April 19. The leaker mentioned the image initially leaked on 4Chan with no caption. Cities: Skylines 2 continues to struggle. The developer’s chief executive, Mariina Hallikainen, announced on April 18 that all purchases of its first DLC, Beach Properties, will be refunded. She also promised to involve the community more in the development process and pivot away from paid DLC until at least 2025. She said this and more in a post on Paradox Plaza, the official forum of publisher Paradox Interactive. Hallikainen apologized to the community for underperforming and delivering a DLC that “should not have been published in its current form.” The Cities 2 dev at Colossal Order has been trying to make amends with the community following a rocky launch. But its efforts haven’t been “happening at a speed or magnitude that is acceptable,” she said. To make amends, the game’s first DLC, Beach Properties, will be free for all players, and buyers will be refunded the full amount. The game director has previously stated on a number of occasions that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be Bethesda’s next release, followed by Fallout 5. No Rest For The Wicked, the top-down soulslike that released yesterday in Steam early access, is already seeing its fair share of performance and QOL issues, including instability, lack of keybinding options, and players losing their progress. In response, developer Moon Studios have put out a blog saying that, yes, they’re aware of the problems and, yes, they’re actively looking to address the most common hiccups. In a section titled “Known Issues We're Already Looking to Address,” the blog lists performance hitches and lack of options to pause in single player or rebind keys, as well as plans to add more aspect ratios and missing localisation. Unsurprisingly, they spotted numerous issues with the game, and the dev is already taking action. The developer, Moon Studios, addressed the community’s feedback in an April 19 Reddit thread, acknowledging key issues with the game, thanking players for their input, and asking them to continue reporting anything that crosses their minds. The launch of No Rest for the Wicked hasn’t gone as smoothly as many had hoped. While there were no server issues to contend with, or severe optimisation and game stability problems, the reception has so far been mixed. The problems mainly revolve around the state of the Steam Early Access build, but once you get past that, so many of Moon Studios’ design decisions have left players surprised and often annoyed. World of Warcraft’s art team usually does a stellar job, but in The War Within, it looks like they’ve really knocked it out of the park. On April 18, players discovered new armor sets on the PTR for WoW’s next expansion, and the community is beyond impressed. “Holy. ********. *****” is what the top comment says on a Reddit post revealing The War Within’s green plate set. This isn’t even tier gear—it’s leveling armor. In my opinion, it looks better than any basic armor set we’ve seen in WoW, and even better than most tier sets. It’s expertly modeled with intricate details and gold adornments that’ll really bring a stalwart Warrior or Paladin to life, and I couldn’t have asked for more. View the full article
The Overwatch 2 playerbase has been up in arms over the last few days due to Blizzard’s banhammer swinging left and right. The cause? Profanity. And now, it seems Blizzard is even banning players for complementing others, according to one player’s support chat. The player in question is a high-elo, smalltime content creator called reise_ow, who shared their Blizzard support logs on X (formerly Twitter) on Apr. 18. They tried appealing Blizzard’s decision to ban them for what they said in-game, and got a very strange reply. Apparently, the player was banned for statements including “gg,” “ns,” “f**ck that was clean Hanzo,” and other regular banter. Blizzard labeled these messages “examples of the chat from the account that caused the action,” leading players to believe profanity is not the only one-way ticket to an Overwatch 2 ban. You there! Stop playing through through Fallout 4 again! Amazon's Fallout TV show is now officially confirmed to be getting a second season, as pretty much all of us had hoped following the stellar reaction to its debut series. Yup, after increasing everyone's appreciation for Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell's ability to say 'okey dokey' in about fifteen different tones, as well as providing loads of fun little references and easter eggs to dissect, the show's set to continue. To be fair - spoilers - you probably guessed that it would likely be doing so when you saw how it ended. A tweet from the show's official account first revealed this good news, slap bang in the middle on the night *** time. Since the launch of Counter-Strike 2 in September 2023, players and fans have been demanding changes to professional tournaments. Now, it looks like one much-demanded change will be implemented as soon as the BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2024. On April 18, the CS2 tournament organizer announced that BLAST will add best-of-five finals to its events. The tweak comes after the latest tier one tournament finals were too short. Despite being a full best-of-three, the PGL Copenhagen CS2 Major final between Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan lasted around two and a half hours. A lot about Palworld sounds inhumane, but nothing is as bad as being able to butcher the Pals you tame. So when a particularly compassionate player decided to stand against the brutal mechanic with a quirky move, it naturally caught a lot of attention. In a Reddit post on April 18, a player named Fantastic-Rabbit-193 proudly announced their applaudable achievement of unlocking every single item on the Technology tree—except for the Meat Cleaver.
